Yeah.. CEAC is generic, a catch-all for all the different visa types. Stick to looking for what I said:

1) Your "Case Updated" field changes - that means they've logged the affidavit.

2) A status change to AP - That means it's all finished up and they're just doing some last checks.

3) A status changed to Issued - Visa's printed, in the passport and on its way to the courier.

Thankfully though, Loomis seems to be working for you as far as taking in documents. DX Secure over here in the UK is messing someone around about taking his documents and passport in (despite the fact the Embassy has said they're to be used for this) and keep telling him they don't do it. Nearly at my wits end since London changed their bloody procedures..

Atleast the CEAC is back up and running. When I log in it still says "Ready" to book an interview at the consulate. Yep, still not looking at the documents or logging the affidavit. Oh well!

I got the same thing.. so it's the website that has gone down.. dont panic

I'm not panicked, I just had a glimmer of hope that maybe they were already working on our file in Vancouver.

I guess you're probably trying to bump up your interview date if possible?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2013 filers

It could just be computer glitches, or something might be happening with our file at the consulate.

Yesterday I was logging onto the CEAC website to see if there was any status changes (either AP or a quick approval, but AP would have been the likelier of the two). There was no status update to be had, though the CEAC website did say I was ready to schedule an interview at the consulate. Obviously, I've already had the interview so I disregarded that.

Today I log on to see if there's an status updates, and there is none -- but when I log on with my VAC number, I don't actually log in but the following appears when I click 'submit':

Application Error
An unexpected error has occurred while processing your previous request. The error has been reported to the site administrator; no further action is required.

I am not sure if this means anything or not -- I am hoping it means they are changing my visa status, of course! Or else this is just an unfortunately fluke that is making my heart excited for no apparent reason... either way, I know the consulate has what they need so I continue to wait :)

Watch your CEAC status. If it changes to Administrative Processing then it means they're working on it. Even better, if it goes to Issued then that means your visa's been printed and put in the passport.

Alright, well for now it says to schedule an interview at the Montreal Consulate, which I know I don't need to do since i've already had my interview... just have to wait to see the status change to know they are looking at the file, or as you say, have issued the visa. That would be a miracle! Seeing as they only received the Affadavit + evidence today, I have a feeling it'll take a little while to get a status update.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the info, Wheatley!

Excellent news.. Hope you get your visa soon

Thanks, Ozgirl, we hope so, too!

On the same note -- because I won't be notified in person about an approval (or denial -- I guess anything is possible), is there any website or any place that will keep me informed about the status of our application? I seem to recall hearing that I should get an email from the consulate stating they received the package, and I also heard if I don't hear from them in a reasonable amount of time to email them to inquire.

Ah, the waiting game is so hard! I just want this to be done and approved... it's sure nerve wracking! But, I'm thinking and staying as positive as I possibly can :)

An update!

My fiance sent the Affadavit of Support via UPS overnight service. After speaking to a UPS support rep this morning, they said 'weather delays' would cause the package to arrive tomorrow, rather than today. Obviously I was not thrilled, but nothing you can do especially if weather-related.

Fortunately, I think my inquiry to UPS somehow worked some magic, because the package was left on my doorstep later in the afternoon! (I signed up for e-mail updates, and had it not been for that, I probably wouldn't have noticed the package was delivered because there was no apparent knock at the door or doorbell ring).

I immediately jumped in the car and headed over to Loomis, the courier for the US Consulate in Vancouver. Now we are 'righting the wrong' of the missing affadavit of support... the waiting game begins for how long it will take the consulate to receive, review, and hopefully approve my K-1 visa. I hope that the fact there was missing documents in the first place (lawyers fault -- not ours) doesn't alter their viewpoint when considering our case.

Now that the ball is rolling again, we are looking forward to the next step of the journey!

Called Loomis this morning as their website said package was delivered, but the website said it was delivered to a different city than the consulate is in. Fortunately it was just a glitch, but the package was, in fact, delivered to the consulate this morning. So now they DO have the Affadavit of Support + supporting documents, my passport, and birth cert.

Here's hoping we get a POSITIVE response soon! We will be so glad to have this behind us :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe got our NOA2 TODAY!!

Thank you thank you everybody! I am praying a lot for that question about my fiance going to Caracas or not. Caracas is not a safe place, not even for me being the Venezuelan over here. He has a very busy schedule at work during March so... I am relaxed: if he can make it, it will be great to have his support out there. If he can not, I am sure I can handle it just keeping the calm and being honest. I really trust I have a lot of proof of our bona fide relationship. And you guys? the UScitizen will go?

From what I read in these posts it seems like a good idea. I feel it like the saying "a picture tells a thousand words." If the embassy can see the connection between you then the chance of approval is higher. I will definitely be going.

We got approved!!! I want to jump out of my desk, call everybody, cry and jump again. But first: THANK YOU ALL OF YOU GUYS!! For the honest feedbacks, concern and supporting words. Without VJ we will never ever would be that far in this process. God bless you all with abundance and wisdom not just for the visa but for a happy marriage and a beautiful home. Love! Sandris and Jim.

Congratulations on the approval. Keep us informed as to how it goes. Will you be together for the interview? I hear it is better to be together. What do you think?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAbout changing the name

Your choice. There is no deadline to file the AOS but a lot of your benefits are awaiting that so it is best to do it as soon as possible. My wife had her green card in hand 4 months after arrival.

You can get an SSN the next day after you arrive in your maiden name. Names on SS cards are not important, you keep the number for life and can change the name later.

My wife kept her maiden name until citizenship and then changed it. All her ID had matching names that way, not that it is a huge deal if they are different. It is just her preference. Her green card and Ukrainian passport had her maiden name. Her US passport has her married name. She changed her name on her drivers license and we are going to go to the SS office this week to change her SS card and her status to "citizen"

I really appreciate this response. This issue has been on my mind and your idea resolves it for me. I can see great confusion on international travel with a passport in one name and green card in another. Better to keep everything uniform, especially these days with so much security.

Question: how long did it take for her to get citiizenship?

Thanks again for this excellent idea.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInterview done, Visa approved!
Congratulations and thank you for taking the time to write down the interview process. I think it really helps all of us who are still waiting for that blessed day!

All the best,

Hello guys! I had my interview a few hours ago and I came here to share my experience.
It was at the U.S Embassy in Athens Greece and honestly, I thought it'd be much more stressful and harder.

I'm copy pasting the review I submitted.

I arrived there at 8:25am for an 8:30 appointment. I saw around 30 people waiting before me and I knew it'd be a long wait. After the security check where I had to give them my phone and a USB I had with me, I went to another room and a woman gave me a number and told me to wait until someone called me. I waited for about an hour before I saw my number flashing. I entered a small room with a chair and across me (glass between) there was a woman sitting. She spoke to me in Greek (no American accent), so I figured she was Greek. I gave her my passport, 2 photos, the DS-forms, birth certificate and visa payment receipt. ( I have already submitted the I-134 with my initial petition).
I waited a bit and when she came back, she gave me the X-ray results and told me to keep it and have it at POE with me.
She only asked 3-4 questions and she was writing them down:
-How many times have you been to the US?
-On what Visa?
-How did you meet your fiancé?
-Will this be your first marriage?

I asked her if she wanted to see evidence of ongoing relationship, and she said no.

Then she told me to wait outside until my number is called again so I can go for fingerprints and then talk with the consular officer so he can decide.
I also gave her my phone number so they'd call me and tell me to come and pick up my Visa.

I waited for about another hour, then simply went for fingerprints and about 20min later, my number flashed again and I entered the same room.
This time, a U.S officer was there and the woman that interviewed me before, was standing besides him.
We agreed to speak in English and he proceeded to ask me pretty much the same questions:
-How did you meet?
-Where is he working?
-Where does he live?
-Do you plan to live there (area) when you move?

And that was it. He was very friendly and the whole thing didn't take more than 3minutes. Once again, no recent evidence of ongoing relationship was asked from me. While he was interviewing me, he was looking at the photos we had submitted with our I-129F petition.
I was kinda bummed out that he didn't wanna see my evidence, because I had arranged them in a nice folder, with chronological order, starting with boarding passes, photos with captions, phone call screenshots, messages, cards/letter, facebook evidence and such. Anyways.

He said that we were done and I should expect a call from them later this week, to come pick up my passport and visa. So I asked him: '' Are we going to find out if we're approved by the end of the week?'' and he replied: ''No, you're already approved''.
I smiled and told him to have a great day.

Hey, pacacuti,

Great idea to write our representatives. The squeaky wheel and all that. Would you be willing to copy me on your correspondence so I can use it as a boiler plate for my own letter?

Thank you for keeping us on the edge!

I think we have shown ad nauseam that this does NOT appear to be some seasonal or cyclical shift. Something much more significant is happening. Let me add some personal anecdotal evidence that goes along with the graphs BayAreaGuy posted. My NOA1 date is 11/30. Today marks day number 100 for me. In those 100 days, the graphs on Igor's list for CSC K1 processing are essentially the same as they were the day I got my NOA1. There has been no apparent progress in the 100 days that I have been sitting here. And there doesn't seem to be any indication that this will change any time soon.

The K1 visa was designed to unite families without having to undergo a long wait period. USCIS was mandated by law to fulfill that mission. They are failing at that mission. They provide no information about their processes nor about our specific cases. They are acting as if they are unaccountable. As if they are somehow above the law. This is why I will be writing my congress critters and the DHS ombudsman this weekend and I encourage everyone else to do the same. This is inexcusable.

We had our Embassy interview in Costa Rica on July 30th.  The only additional thing they requested was a transcript, from the IRS, of my 2012 tax return.  So we are waiting for that now.

Congratulations to all the November filers on their successful application!

Vaya con Dios amigo, y saludos a la hermosa familia!!

Man, that's the truth. This week flew by. I was teaching a class on the Python programming language (5 full days). With readjusting the material I had originally made, trying out code examples and trying to get them perfect, I was working literally from 4:30 AM to midnight every day. It totally kept my mind off VJ (and pretty much everything else except my lovely fiancee and my little dude). Now I am on my way south of the equator :). Two whole weeks where I will probably forget all about you people (sorry). See y'all on the flip side :)

My husband-to-be got orders for a deployment, not to a war zone but to Japan that starts in July...we're hoping that USCIS will grant us an expedite. He's making the phone call tomorrow...keeping my fingers and toes and everything else crossed, otherwise with the normal processing times I don't know how we're going to scrape in before we'd have to be in Japan.
