Are these the standard instructions, you get even in mail box? I did log on to the site and their was the instruction link at the bottom of the page.

For AOS

for IV applicant

Thanks Happyinlove,

Let me log on to our NVC page and see if those instructions are still there or not, I am not even sure if the NVC page still exist for us or not, will be a month in a week that we have paid the bills.

Thanks Chintan,

My current status is that bills have been paid for both AOS and IV,but thanks to our darling Lawyer, he is insisting (more likely refusing) to send any paper work to NVC till he doesn't receive the package from NVC.

As far as I know, with the initial i-130 processing, they give out a time limit of 82 days if you have any RFE with the i-130 petition. But I am not sure how long does it take with NVC.

I hope I am not confusing you all with my question.

Here is my specific question about RFE, what I want to know is, how many days do they provide to submit the RFE.

I am not that concern about how many days they take to process after they receive our RFE, but more likely whats the time period they give out to submit the requested information.

The thing is, if we get an RFE, it would only mean we will get it for a civil marriage certificate, so to provide it, my husband will have to come in India and register the marriage, might take 40 days if we are doing it in my Home state, might take only a week if we are doing in some other state. So I want to be prepared about what to expect in an RFE situation.

you could submit the proof at the time of interview in india, is another option

Really? can I submit additional proof if they ask in India? My husband will be coming to India during the interview, I was hoping, may be we can register the marriage in Mumbai (though I am from Andaman Islands, but there is no way I can register the existing marriage within a week here, will take 40 days exact in Andaman), takes around a weeks time I guess in Mumbai.

Its been 3 weeks but we haven't yet received the package, I did call NVC couple of times, but the operators are giving the same usual answer, to wait for 6 weeks.

Honestly I am not that much in a hurry right now(making plans financially too), I will be happy if we can get a November or even December date for interview, but would be a perfect timing if we can get the package in another week or two's time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWondering about NVC package.
Hello folks,

I did ask this question a couple of weeks ago but haven?t really got a satisfactory answer. So here I go again. My husband has already paid both IV and AOS bills online and the system does show it being paid, but we are waiting for the instruction package from NVC before we send the required documents.

I know most of you will suggest us to send it as it is, since we have got the payment receipt page, but the problem is our case is a bit different, we don?t have any civil document of our marriage, only religious one from authoritarian board in India, that is Araya Samaj which conducts Hindu marriages. That?s the reason I (and our lawyer) wants to wait for the package and see if NVC asks for any additional documents or not.

Anyways, what I would like to know is, specifically from people who did the online payment, did you guys ever received packages from NVC, if so, how long did it take after the payment was accepted?

And also from other folks who paid their bills through cheques or Money order (I am not sure what NVC accepts as the mode of payment), how long did it take for you guys to receive the package from NVC?

I have another side question, if we ever get an RFE from NVC for anything, how many days/weeks does NVC provides to submit back the requested RFE?

Thanks for all the help

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Please Please HELP ME
I think you would be good with filling out what you filled with G-325a, there is nothing wrong in letting them know you have been staying at the same place since 1989/90, as 1990 is what your G-325a says, just if by chance at the embassy level they tally both the forms and find one date at ds-230 and another on g-325a, that might cause more questioning.

May be someone else who knows better can explain. Best of luck good.gif

There is something I would want you to consider. While filling your initial i-130 petition, G-325a form requires you to state your residential place for the last 5 years, since you have been living in the same place since 1989, what did you file with yoru G-325a? Did you state the last 5 years only(that would be from 2003 to present) or did you put it as from 1989 to present.

So now i have this, I pay online, then wait for it to process then print off the reciept. Do i then have to wait for them to send IV packet or can i just send all stuff off?

Glad that you have got it smile.gif. Yes right now, pay the bill and it will take around 2 to 4 days for them to process, once it shows being paid, you can take the print out and send your package as it is, there is no need to wait for IV packet, as a matter of fact, you can find the instructions on the page once you have paid the bill. Good luck and don't give up good.gif

Try emailing for IIN, sorry you are going through this and hopefully you will get an answer through email at least. I did email for IIN, and got an answer after around 5 days. Also try calling at the evening hours (EST) for IIN, don't say you want it for paying online, rather just say you want it for your own safe keep. Best of luck good.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAre they going to let me marry my Taiwanese girlfriend?
I think thats common that you couldn't understand at first, we all go through the same, all the Acronyms, you can start looking through this link for acronyms and definations.

As per DCF, since you are trying to search for a work in Taiwan, so I assume you do have a residential visa there, or any other visa other than tourist visa.

You might want to email Taiwanis embassy and sort out your 4 months away from Taiwan question. Usually you have to be living in any given country for at least 6 months prior to filling DCF (direct consulate filing) in that specific country, but I know for sure in India that is 3 months, so its better to look through US consulate/embassy in Taiwan for the requirement.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting Part... Visa Process
I tried to stay away from this specific topic because I don't blame US government for our separation, actually the visa process has been a piece of cake till now compared to every other obstacle me and my husband had to conquer, especially him.

It will be 4 consecutive years this September that we won't be together on our wedding anniversary and you know what, it's OK! I am looking forward to be him this November or December, actually not even concern about the outcome of the visa process, just I know doesn't matter what happens, I will have some quality time to spend with him this year at least.

I used to think I am the only bad luck one who has been away from her husband for this long and all those sentimental things, but then I read the story of a Visa journey member from MENA and she hasn't been with her husband for 3 years plus they have got a child together, my heart went out for her, raising a child alone and the husband missing every single thing of his child's life, at least I am in not that position and I am certain whenever we will have our kids, my husband will be there with me.

So whenever you think you are alone in this ordeal, look around, you are not, you actually might be lucky in a lot of ways, yes might also be unlucky in a lot of other ways but you always have something to hold on to, something to fight for and not give up.

This really isn't necessary, most of the newly wed people don't have the kind of bonafide relationship proofs, just send some photographs (around 10), a few postal letters if possible, a few chats (5 or 6), these will be more than enough.

And on a side note, please whenever you have a question just for yourself, try to create a new topic. Best of luck good.gif

"What's going on with ur husband process, how come it's not getting approved?

I really wonder what else can the other person say? You hear worst of things, at least with me, have heard a lot from so called friends or relatives, how he is just a white guy who used me and never going to come back or how my life has been ruined by him.......well I was even asked to consider a re-marriage ranting33va.gif

So if I were in your shoes, I would grab their suggestion of being patient and thank my stars that I didn't hear something absolutely absurd this time around.

We all live the cocoon life, how much each of us knew about the process before stepping the foot, at least I didn't know a thing, I thought it would take maximum of 3 months or at least I will get a tourist visa to see my husband whenever I would wish for.......and boy was I wrong.

You have to live your own life, so live it, don't expect others to know your problem or your situation, they aren't obligated to you and you can't shut them up, but you can always shut your ears and decide not others to bother you. Think about it, will you be coming to these forums as much as you do now when your husband will be with you? You will be busy with your life and family, that's how your pals and people are, busy with their own life. I apologise if I sound harsh, but that's how life is and you have to accept it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo you have residency in your non-USC spouse's country?
My husband currently have 5 year Entry visa for India (it is equivalent to residency), but may be a year or so later we are planning to apply for PIO (person for Indian origin) for him.

For the visa, all he had to do was send his passport, our marriage certificate, my passport's biodata page's copy and his 2x2 photograph at Chicago's Indian consulate and he got back his passport with 5 years multiple entry visa within 8 days or so and took only $180. With PIO, he can even buy land in India. India doesn't allow dual citizenship so PIO is the next best thing.
