IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFor people with Interviews in Mumbai
Crazysamurai,

Don't worry about Interview letter from Consulate, as long as she has any of the one interview letter, and since she does have the NVC one, you have nothign to worry about.

As for Medical, no, consulate doesn't give out dates to when to do the medical. As long as medical is done before the actual interview date, your wife should be fine.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice clearance for an Indian citizen residing in Australia
Well even though you aren't living in India, still you do hold Passport issued from any of the districts in India right? And you do need PCC from places where you have lived after the age of 16.

I doubt you will have to go all the way to India, you can apply for both PCC's through Indian Embassy/Consulate in Australia. But as someone else have suggested, do call up NVC (you can call or your USC SO too can call) and talk to an operator or a supervisor and get things sorted out.

One thing, each state in India has their own rules with issuing PCC.

laughing.gif oh I got those-- "he is never coming" "I bet you guys have already divorced" "does he call you everyday" (grrrr we have internet to talk to, why waste money on calling for hours tongue.gif )

they have reduced recently, I think everyone has accepted that i already have divorced my husband because I just flatly refuse to talk about him or our relationship with others anymore, except few friends who really mean something in my life. tongue.gif gets kind of boring when you hear those same questions.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVFS help
Update-- Finished VFS work just a bit ago. Took me only 10 minutes at the counter but had to wait forever (2.5 hours) to get my turn.

This all I submitted--

1)Photocopy of both interview letters, NVC and Mumbai Consulate.
2)Two 2x2 photographs
3)DS-230 forms
4)Photocopy of passport's biographic pages
5)Photocopies of -- Birth certificate, Marriage certificate, both PCC
6)Medical report.
7)394 rupees courier fee.

So that's about it. Anyone going to VFS Mumbai, make sure you do go there around 7:30am, for spousal visa it doesn't take that much of time, but there are only 2 counters which deal with IV and most of the folks out there are with F visa, since they have to submit all the originals at VFS, so it takes a lot of time for VFS officials to attend and complete each case.

They do have photocopy and photograph place within the VFS premises.

Another thing, this might only be for me or whoever lives in Andaman Islands or North Eastern states of India, VFS's data base doesn't have small cities listed with their courier services, so anyone who comes from small cities, make sure you keep a Mumbai address handy with you and you can give them that address for sending you your passport.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVFS help
range is 15 days if you are submitting documents in Calcutta for Mumbai consulate, or say any other VFS office situated other than Mumbai itself. For VFS office in Mumbai itself, range is from 10 to 7 days, tomorrow 12th of November will be my 8th day prior to interview, so I am within the time range and have arranged all my papers, could have submitted today if they were open.

Anyways, can anyone tell me, why they are closed on both 11th and 13th?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVFS help
I went to submit my documents today on VFS and they are asking for all the photocopies, that wont be a problem and I will get those done but do want to ask if I also have to submit photocopies of AOS package?

I forgot to ask them that, but the package I got from Mumbai consulate does say that submitting AOS package is not needed if it has already been submitted at NVC.

Tomorrow VFS will be closed, so I can't call and confirm anymore, and day after tomorrow will be the last day of my deadline to submit papers with them. Any help is appreciated.

There was a poem I read a couple of years back, actually it was my husband's suggestion to read it. Anyways that poem(i forgot name) had something about a loving couple, where the man leaves for war and comes back after 5 years and he sees his love in her garden...........I better not say the whole poem out here tongue.gif

Just it made me think, how in those days, or in any given time in history, couples have been away from each other, lived in agony, lived life worse than what we are living in and yet they made it through, they did wait for each other, some got to see each other, some didn't but love didn't die.

So even though its been 4 years for me that I have touched, felt him physically, I know he is there and he knows I am there for him. I truly appreciate my husband for having gone through so much at so young age. That man never gives up. Living from a secured life to living under the bridge for months and months and still making time for me and not giving up, always giving hope that things will go better and he did it finally, securing a job for himself, how can I not stay be with him always (yeah sure not the time when he gets on my nerves tongue.gif )

I guess I just wanted to say is that we aren't alone out here, history is filled with both people who take love for granted and also with people who aren't afraid of any sacrifices they have to make to make their relationship work.

Wow! it really lifts my spirits up to see 2 people who truly love each other and would endure anything for each other. I love my husband with all my heart and I know he does too. We waited so long to be together and finally I was here and we were married. We got to spend the most beautiful 3 months together before he got deployed. Its a different kind of separation now. We are married and have a home, a life together, but if I had to go through all of this 10 times, I would for us. Its so wonderful to get up in our bed in the morning, take care of our home, our dogs (hehe) and know its one day less that he'll be home and I will be here to welcome him back and not somewhere else still hoping to be with him one day.

I really do feel for you Parul, saying goodbye to your husband just after 3 months of finally getting together plus going through the whole pregnancy alone.

Really don?t want to be all sob story and I do think you are one strong independent woman, but still I can understand how hard it can be. Really hope you have a pretty smooth pregnancy rose.gif . And have your husband soon to pamper you a hell lot wink.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMissing your spouses
That?s because you are actually applying for a Green card.

I am not saying you are doing it, but this is the main purpose of CR-1/IR-1 visa, to give permanent residency aka green card to the spouse of American Citizen.

With k-1 or k-3 visa, case is different; SO of American citizen receives their permanent residency after a while of their arrival to US.

Anyways, to OP, pain subdues as time goes by, sure there are times when you feel all gloomy and all but then one tries to adapt to the situation which they are left with. I am away from my husband for 4 years, yes don't be shocked and I don't blame USCIS or anyone, its been all good with immigration process itself, we had other issues, job related, monetary issues, bad business decision, lol long story. But I am hopeful, my husband will be coming next month, so I am looking forward to it, its weird though, I still don't have butterflies in my stomach this time, may be I will have those just one week before he boards his flight and plus I am just so so caught up making plans and everything.

I am scared also, that is the only red flag we have but its ONE BIG ELEPHANT, will see what happens, I just don't wish to say another big long goodbye to him. He says he will come to India if we get rejected, but that would 6 months in India and 6 months in US (working earning money) for him and I don't want to live a life like that, just wish to settle down for good at any place possible, don't care where it is.

Ok I will stop my sorry story, back to having fun people, enjoy your freedom as much as you can and also try to know each others annoying little habits tongue.gif

Ktindi,

I would suggest you to make a new topic about this. anyways why would interviewer need notarized copies of i-864, I don't think even NVC needs notarized copies.

Anyways, there is nothing you can do but to submit these stuff all over again, do contact your congressman, and give out a few more affidavits from friends and family that they are aware of the relationship, just make sure you overwhelm them with proof materials.

All the best, do hope your husband gets his approval soon rose.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!!!
It all depends upon when the relationship with his new wife started.

1) What was the time frame from his divorce to getting married?
2) Did this current relationship start while he was married?
3) Did he meet both his ex-wife and new wife through relatives? Did both of the wives belong to same town?
4) Where is his ex-wife living right now, how long was he married to her before they divorced?

If the time frame was marginal, say 1 year gap from his divorce to his marriage, then it shouldn't be much of a problem, but say it was only a matter of 2-3 months, then his current wife has to be prepared for scrutanizing. May be ask your friend to join his wife during the interview, take as much of proofs as possible and be confident in what they know.

Indian consulates are hard, so ask them to be prepared for being questioned about their real intentions.

From a consular's point of view, he/she will see this case as-- Indian guy marries one girl from his town, gets dowry to bring her to US, both of them go on their own path and now that the guy is single again he gets another girl and more to earn from dowry.

I am not trying to offend your friend or anyone out here, but this is how a consular might see the case as.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR-1 @ NVC
To NVC you have to send either -- originals or certified copies from the issuing agency along with photocopies.

If originals have been submitted to NVC, there isn't any need of anymore originals for consulate, only photocopies. NVC forwards originals to the consulate after case completion.

Hope this helps good.gif
