IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother RFE!!!!!!! :-( Please Help!!!!!
I think OP does need the PCC from police. The rule is if Passport has been issued within past 6 months then one doesn't need PCC from police, but somehow NVC wants the same from the OP.

OP, may be go to the district superintendent office rather than going to local police station. Most of the time local police station doesn't know about this stuff. Every district has their own rules and regulations of issuing PCC, so one can't say concretely which exact department might help you. You might also try passport office and ask them who deals with police PCC in your area, they sure will know.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmy husband is here since last wed....
Its better if you and your husband would make a visit to SS office and apply it in person. Most of CR-1 applicants don't receive their SSN through mail and end up going to the office.

When you do go to the office, go with his Passport and that would be enough.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone have their interview at Mumbai Consulate recently?
QUOTE (kulpatel @ Apr 6 2009, 01:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi..I have received NOA1 till now...but want to keep ready PCC beforehand....so..
Do we need to show any documents regarding visa application to our local police station Or they will give us PCC without it?

Every district has their own rules. I have seen how in Gujurat they ask for NOA-2 or NVC letter before providing PCC. For me nothing like that was necessary, I just had to give an application detailing my need for PCC and also all the places I lived after the age of 16.

So you have to go to your local police station and see what rules they apply.

when your spouse did the PCC from the local police off...did they ask him from how far back he wants clearance? They asked my wife if she wants it from the date of her birth or from 2000.

QUOTE (queuedup @ Apr 1 2009, 06:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am going through th Mumbai consulate, and I did include the the local police station pcc and the passport pcc. If your passport was issued less than 6 months ago, the passport PCC should be enough.

Depends upon which state you are from, each state has their own rules for giving out PCC, took me around 1 month from Andaman Islands, where as it took only a week for someone else from Punjab.

If you are doing everything through your lawyer, how come your lawyer sent the package without rechecking if all the papers are included or not. Thats bad on the lawyers part.

Hmm nothing like that was asked to me. I was born and brought up in Andaman Islands. Let me do some editing to my PCC and I will paste it out here.

what if given a 10 year green card after entering the states?so it means just 1 year then u can apply?

No, doesn't matter if you have got conditional (2 year) or unconditional (10 year) GC, you can apply after 3 years of staying in US from the date of your first POE using CR-1 or IR-1 visa. Also you have to be married to the SAME spouse while applying for citizenship to get the benefit of 3 year. If for some reason USC spouse dies or one get divorced then one will have to wait for 5 years.

I am not sure about military spouses, but do know if someone is working for military they can apply after 1 year of work experience with the military.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long the case completed after NVC received last document?
Anywhere from a week to 3 weeks time.

Keep calling NVC number to hear automated voice mail every day, and also if there hasn't been any update in one weeks time, do talk to an NVC operator, sometimes AVR doesn't update automatically.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI need some help!?!
Petitioners who reside in AK, AZ, CA, CO, Guam, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MS, MT, Nebraska, NV, ND, OH, OR, SD, UT, WA, WI, or WY will get California as their service center.

Petitioners who reside in AL, AR, CT, DL, FL, GA, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OK, PA, Puerto Rico, RI, SC, TN, TX, VT, VA, U.S. Virgin Islands, WV, or District of Columbia will get Vermont as their service center.

Do go with CR-1 visa, do read the guides, start with VJ guide and also lotto's guide (a VJ member)

No one can predict how long will it take, but take an average estimate of anywhere from 6 months to 12 months. Everything really depends upon how soon your Petition gets approved at USCIS, once approved its easy road, you will have things in your hand. Keep reading, I know it can be overwhelming at first, but you have loads of time to prepare for your petition, so take your time to learn and understand the process.

Best of luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPCC from distric level require interview letter (Gujarat) India
Yes its a bothersome situation from Gujurat, other VJ members from Gujurat may clarify, but from what I have read, you can call up NVC and explain your situation, most likely NVC will ask you to send the package without police station PCC but with Passport office PCC, and NVC will complete your case and forward it to Mumbai consulate for the interview, once you receive interview date and interview letter......go to Police station and obtain PCC and you will have to submit the same at Mumbai consulate either during the day of interview or at VFS.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a
Hello all,

First of all hello to all you wonderful people who are out here helping each other and learning more and more about the process.

Hubby is preparing for applying IR-1 for me and I was wondering a few things about the G-325a form. First of all

1) My mom expired 15 years ago, so shall I put Late ABC while giving out her first name?

2) I do work for a private organisation but I am an outsource staff, so all I get is cash in hand at the end of the month, really don't have any proof of my working status other than my I-Card, they haven't and I am sure they won't issue me a working certificate (long story, but i don't complain with the payment I get), so I was wondering, shall I leave the working status as unemployed? or Shall I type in the organisations name any ways? Don't see the Consulate asks for any proof of work, but only asks me to name it.

3) There is an option with the form--"Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year." what shall I put in here, do I need to put the same address as what is my residence address or is this not applicable for me, since I have never been to USA?

Thanks all in advance!
