He was asked to provide his CV and after emailing his CV it took around 1 months time for the Consulate to issue him the visa. I will look for that thread and if I can get it, will update you. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Advice on best process to follow	MarkGA, Well everything depends upon which service center are you going through, right now as the trends are going, if you are applying for K-1, vermont is much faster, but if you compare IR-1 or K-3 speed and K-1 speed of california service center then I would say IR-1 and K-3 are processed faster through cali compared to K-1. Now, there are a few more things to consider before you jump into a decision, when you go to India, Indian marriage system is complicated and takes time to register marriage, do ask your girlfriend to talk to local registrar office and ask what all might be needed and how soon the process can be done, basically things depends upon which state you live in, also you might need to have a notarised statement made from USA, stating your marital status being single and you are of a legal age, just a very basic No objection letter is what you might need, again depends upon which state she is from and how the registrar office in her district works. If you are going through the k-1 route, even though it is much faster comparatively but it is more scrutinised. Since you still have some time to leave for India, I would suggest you and your girl friend to make wise decisions, make sure you take enough photographs, I am not sure if any of you or your girl friend is a Hindu, but if you are, then please make sure to have at least a small engagement party, with friends and families, and do take pictures, do take receipts from the ceremony hall, hotel guys, also make sure to take the name and address of at least 20 friends who came (do emphasise on friends, more than family), do take other vendor bills too. At least Delhi consulate is notorious of asking these kind of things, even if you get married in India, do make sure to collect these and save yourself and your girlfriend from 221g later on during consulate level interview. Also if you are getting engaged, make sure you don't take any photograph which suggest that any "hindu marriage rituals", for example things like wearing garland or even wearing small amount of sindoor or things like that, I am not much into rituals but others might help you with it. Since you have been living in China for 4 years, I assume you either have work permit or residential Visa for China. With DCF, you file for immigration visa that is I-130 directly in China at the American embassy/consulate. You will also need to show residential ties to USA, so if you have any running bank account or D.L or a house on your name or even rental lease those things will work. DCF is much quicker and you won't even have to worry about AOS after your family arrives in USA, just lifting condition, if the marriage is less than 2 years, if the marriage is more than 2 years then your wife will get unconditional 10 years green card.	trinket	Female	India	2008-08-10 02:14:00

My husband is too caucasian and we had an Arya samaj wedding, we must have only spent a maximum of 10,000 rupees for the whole ceremony, paying lawyer and everything involved. Stay positive and be confident. You guys didn't do any harm, I am sure the k-1 issue will be asked during the interview but you also have a very good backup of your husband staying in India for 3 months. For me it took 1 month while for someone from Punjab it took only a week. Yes its pretty normal, and since you are from Vermont service center, so you might have to wait even more, a few February 2008 filers and a lot of March 2008 filers are still waiting. Sorry, but this is how the situation is. From your account it sounds like you have only filed i-130, is that true or did you and your spouse also filed i-129f? If you didn't file the second one, then you aren't a K-3 filer, but you are a CR-1 filer. Do read the guides and prepare yourself for NVC stage, use this time to learn this process, so you won't be fully dependent on the lawyer and can let your case go through fast forward lane like many others. You don't have to show proof of living together, though you will have to show proof of a bonafide relationship, that means trips made to each other (before or after marriage, doesn't matter), photographs together, if possible insurance papers, house lease, joint bank accounts, phone records of calling each other, postal letters with sealed envelops, cards to each other...........basically anything possible you can show that you two have been in touch all this time and have a solid base of your relationship. As far as I can say London is an easy going counsulate, so you have nothing to worry about overwhelming them with all the proofs, but should have basics, like boarding passes showing travels made to each other and small things like emails, phone records and stuff. So you never know what might happen. Do read out the shortcut so that way you can sail through NVC within a month or so.
