PhilippinesPLS Tulong mga kababayan!..
Sis I have to be very honest with you, but medyo disappointed ako sayo na you have to ask for advise pagkatapos nang lahat lahat. I mean if I were in your situation alam ko na agad ang gagawin ko. Not worth it sis. So gumising ka. Sorry medyo blunt ang reply ko sa post mo, talagang kumukulo lang dugo ko sa mga taong katulad ng asawa mo, na tingin sa ating mga babae parang aso. Goodluck sayo sis. God Bless.

PhilippinesHow Wonderful Are Your Inlaws?(Naging mabait ba sila sa inyo?)
Ay sali din ako! My in-laws are great. Known them while I was still in the Philippines. I love them to death. They are very generous too. Paid for my airfare, paid for my AOS, paid for my birthday party and everything. Even gave us a van for our wedding present. Also, they make me feel so at home here, still miss my family back home, but everyone makes everything bearable. Mother-in-law always pick me up on her days off, we go shopping together, or maybe just hang out in her house and play Mario Kart. Father-in-law is just the nicest dad also.

QUOTE (catteerain @ Jun 11 2009, 03:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
what are the docs/papers that we have to hand-carry during our trip to US that the immigration would ask from us? Do we still need those papers or proofs we presented during our embassy interview? Can't decide whether to bring it with me or not in case needed p pla un for future use. Hope to hear answers from u good fellow VJ members

Only important docs you have to hand carry is the brown/yellow envelope from the Embassy. And your visa/passport of course with the CFO certificate and sticker. I also brought with me all the docs presented at the interview, but I put it in my checked in luggage. Goodluck.

Worked in call centers before I moved here. There was supposed to be a 40K bond on the contract I signed. Quit job before contract ended, they didnt run after me for it. You might want to check with the Department of Labor on that one. Goodluck.

This is too risky... really... even if your friend knows somebody in NSO to give her a 'fixed' CENOMAR, but what if the embassy will double check it to the NSO?.. tsk! tsk!... Does the embassy double check these NSO papers to NSO? If so she'll get in trouble.

I would agree with what the other people said here.. just cancel the K-1 and start all over again for the K-3. Better wait a few more months than to wait 10 years, or never.... unsure.gif

As of Oct 2008 the USEM got rid of what they call document verification, their way of verifying the CENOMAR. Still I will never risk it.

PhilippinesCFO EXIT SEMINAR
Lets face it, its a 20 minute video clip worth 13USD, and I havent learned anything I didnt already know. The government want to do this, fine with me, but for them to make it a compulsory thing for a Filipina spouse to leave the country? Thats a total Bull where I came from. They should at least give that prerogative to the individuals, those who wish to attent may attend, those who think its a total waste of time and money may skip it.

PDOS is required for all Filipino emigrants or those leaving the country to settle permanently abroad. The main topic of this seminar is to help the emigrants prepare themselves for settling overseas. Like adjustment to a new environment, how to deal with homesickness, travel regulations, immigration procedures, cultural differences, settlement concerns, etc. 12 years old and below are exempted from attending the PDOS and are only needed to be registered to the CFO Office...

PDOS Requirement:

Photocopy of passport biographic page
NBI Clearance

Phone Numbers: (632) 525-3114, (632) 525-3783, (632) 525-4314

CFO Stamp is a sticker, stamped into the emigrants passport. This stamp served as a proof that this visa holder has attended the PDOS and is now ready to travel.

CFO Stamp Requirement:

PDOS Certificate
Passport
US Visa
Fee of Php400 or roughly $9

Phone numbers: (632) 562-3848,(632) 561-8321 ext. 104, 105, 201- 203

The short story is "they" want to make sure your pockets are empty of PESOS before you leave the country...

ANOTHER BUREAUCRATIC WAY by the FILIPINO gov to suck out of the poor pinoy emigrant pocket another 650 pesos

and that not include the AIRPORT taxes......on your way out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOD Bless them...........

Very true!!!

PhilippinesCFO... ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Hmm in my opinion the seminar is useless, basically what they teach you is what to do in the event your husband or future husband abuse you, physically or emotionally, the lady who conducted mine has this piece of advise to all of us who were present at the seminar. "Call 911". Big Deal! I think they just want the 750.00 PhP per Filipino who is to marry a foreigner.

If he has another job set up for October presumably he has a contract with them? Can't you get a letter from his new job stating what his salary will be and when he will start. This coupled with tax returns from the past three years and any pay stubs he has to show evidence that he was recently employed would be good evidence he has the means to support you. He could also include proof of assets or savings to supplement the mandatory evidence.

Nope he doesn't have a contract with his new job. He just had his interview the other week and luckily he got the job. So do you think that getting a co-sponsor would make everything easier?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Questions
Can anyone help me with this. We just got our approval a couple of days ago. Now, I think we are in trouble for the Affidavit of Support. He is earning way over the 125% of Poverty Line. But the dilemma is this. He resigned from his work over a month ago, he has another job but he wont start until October. This has been the only time that he has gone jobless and its only for a month or 2, my question is, is that going to affect our application? He would be able to produce his past income tax return, he would also be able to produce an employment certificate with his previous job. We are just concerned because he doenst have a job right now, and we would want to set our interview date as soon as possible. We felt that we have been away from each other for too long now.

Please I would appreciate it very much if somebody could enlighten me up on this. All your posts would be highly appreciated.

Thank You.

Question: We just had our NOA2 a few days ago. We have a lawyer and she's really not helping us expedite everything, which I think is false advertising on their part because they told us in the first place that they can guarantee that our case will be prioritized if we hire them, that ours would be approved way before the others with the same timeline as ours, which is soooo untrue, if anything else, it only slowed down our case. If we fire her right now, do we still get part of the money that we paid her?

I hope you could enlighten me up on this. Thank you

We hired a lawyer. And she didnt do anything but fill out the forms which was so easy. Everytime we ask her for updates, she always tell us to wait in an irritated tone of voice. Honestly, VisaJourney members are more of a help to us than our own lawyer. And if only I could bring back the time, I will not hire one.

Please click on my profile and read the latest topic i had started there. It's about mine and other member's dissatisfaction with our respective lawyers.

hello all. well, i was looking around on the forum and i came across someones experience in the interview. and she was having problems. then i got to thinking. if the sponsor has to show support. does the recipient also have to work ? the interviewer was asking her about her educational background and her job. and i was wondering. my fiancee, had to drop outta school to support her family .

so i guess ,my question is this. would it effect our outcome of the interview. if she had a poor educational background and not a good paying job?

or am i just thinking to hard on the subject?

As long as the the petitioner is earning 125% of the poverty line, should be ok.

Good news everyone. My fiance was able to save every single chat logs that we had, going as far back as Aug 27, 2007. Another question......

Luckily, I am able to retrieve all the Instant Messages. I have over 100 IM's saved and I'm busy copying each one and printing them out. How many of them should I print out? The Embassy is asking specifically for emails so would IM's be an appropriate substitute?

I just had my interview this morning, and got approved. The amount of proof for the bonafide relationship differs per consulate, I was interviewed at the Manila US embassy, one of the most strict as it is a high fraud consulate. I printed out at least 15 yahoo conversations, more or less 20 emails and I did just fine. I dont think you need to print out each and every chat conversations you have, just print screen the chatlogs showing all that you have accumulated throughout your relationship. Thats what I did. But of course if you think you would be safer if you printout each and every chat conversation, you can do that too. It is better safe than sorry. Goodluck.

QUOTE (Hi Im GOIY @ Nov 18 2008, 09:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have heard through the grapevine that if you co-sponsor someone, the government can require you to put aside a sum of money, making you incapable of accessing it, in the assumption that there might be some kind of emergency involving the people you're co-sponsoring...... Is that true? If my dad co-sponsor's me, will the gov't make him put aside a decent percentage of his money in order to do so? If so, that's going to make it so he won't do it and will make my situation much more unpredictable... Thanks for the feedback!

If you are going for K1 and the interview will take place at the US Embassy Manila, prepare for the worst. USEM has a history of denying co-sponsorships for K1 and K2 visas. And I know a lot of K1 applicants here in visajourney who were told by the consul that they don't accept cosponsorships. There are those who are lucky enough to be granted the visa of course even if they had a co-sponsor. I am on K1 also, and I have prepared a co-sponsor package for my interview, until I learned that USEM is pretty tight with this thing. my fiance lost his job a few months back, luckily he was able to get a job before my interview and we were able to secure an employment certificate.

However on my interview date, the only documents they asked from me for the affidavit of support are the I-134 and the 2007 Income Tax Return, which showed that my fiance made way over the 125% of the poverty level on 2007. so everything went well. Try to search keyword co sponsors us manila embassy for more of this topic.
