K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCan I trash some papersI took to the interview?
After all the time and effort spent compiling, organizing, reviewing, reorganizing, re-reviewing, re-re-reviewing our document/evidence packages I think I am going to keep ours forever.

Once in awhile we actually pull out our "books" of evidence and records and marvel at how much blood (a few paper cuts) sweat and tears were shed over these between the moments of elation and sadness and frustration and joy.

Totally up to you but it's one hell of a keepsake!

Middle East and North AfricaFRIDAY!
Good Morning Everyone and Best Wishes to all for a successful day!

Feeling a little dead this morning after league bowling last night. Guess I had a few too many beverages hehe.

The temp dropped to -10C, coldest day since my fiancee arrived however she is adjusting well. Just put on a an extra sweater under her coat and wore her mask!

Bowled pretty well, 269-223-223 for a 715. Happy Happy

Hope everyone has a great day and a nice weekend!!

Middle East and North AfricaPOE?? Consulate Envelope Question
Yep- deplane in JFK and proceed to CBP. Will give "envelope" and passport to BP officer. BP officer will open the "envelope" and look through it. May ask a few or many questions (in our case just a few). He will check fingerprints and take photo. If all is good then he will stamp passport and your honey will go to collect luggage. Then pass through customs where they will ask some more questions. If all is good - continue on to recheck luggage and get domestic flight. Sometimes they may pull aside for further processing - luggage check.

It should be a pretty painless process, unless they see something they dont like.

At least that is how it went for us in Detroit. Good Luck and Best Wishes!

For Question 10, I did the following in the space provided for the Name of Person:
Jane Doe I129F Case Number HCMxxxxxxxxx
Relationship - Fiancee
Date Submitted - I entered the date from the NOA1

For Question 11 I checked neither box, in the space provided I entered:
N/A (K-1 visa process for permanent residence)

As far as taxes - I save a copy of my online filed tax returns and that is what I sent. I did sign and date them with the date that I filed them online.

We had no problems and no questions.

Middle East and North AfricaInterview this morning
If they said they would call when the visa is ready sounds like it went well but a little confused about the 221g... Do you know exactly what the 221g said? Did they request any additional information?

Would be helpful to know more about what the 221g states.

Middle East and North AfricaFamily B2 Visa Denied
That stinks

Unfortunatley it sounds like they didn't provide enough in the form of strength of ties to the home country.

While the things you listed that they provided sound reasonable to someone like you and me, it really is not significant in the eyes of the consulate.

They should provide things like substanitial proof of property owned, strong financial ties.
I dont have much personal exerience with this but you'll get some good advice from others.

Wish you the best and hope it can get worked out for them to visit.

His POE in the US can be at any international terminal. Maybe try broadening your search and not limiting yourself to a particular POE in the US.

Middle East and North AfricaAttorney Advice
I don't think there is much you could gain from an attorney at this point. If you have an upcoming interview about the only thing they could do would be to coach you on questions and review any papers and doceuments for the interview.

You may get better information from discussing with other Casablanca members here as to what to expect and what type of questioning is asked and how to prepare.

As far a your second question - I am not aware of an "immigration list". Typically people contact their local congress person if their case gets held up for an extended period of time. The congress person can assign someone from their office to put in a congressional inquiry into the case. That is pretty much what it amounts to. They cannot impact a decision but they can sometimes get someones attention and get the case moving again.

I don't have personal experience with doing this. Actually I did contact my local congress woman about my case back in December - three times - and they never returned my calls or responded - so you know who will not get my vote in the next election! Some have had very pleasant dealings with theirs though - so one bad egg does not mean they all are.

Middle East and North AfricaHelp please! My husband is almost home!
Was an RFE given at the interview (221g form)? What exactly does it say?

Since you said husband I must assume you are in the CR-1 process.

If that is the case the correct document would be the I-864 along with the required proof or income.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview questions... Please help! What docs?

Hi all... We have our interview scheduled for the end of February and are confused on something... What documents will my wife need to bring to the interview? I have heard that she will need to bring copies of everything that we have sent until this point and I have also heard that she will need to bring all original documents...

All of our original documents were sent off to the NVC before they were approved so we do not have them anymore. Do we need to get more original documents? Or can we just bring copies since the Embassy should have the originals?

Thanks in advance!

Any originals that were included in your initial petition should be forwarded with the original packet to the consulate. You will need to provide originals and copies of everything requested in packet 4. That should be your focus. Some of it may be redundant so if you submitted originals in your initial petition you can resuibmit certified copies. For example, In my petition I submitted (cetified copies of divorce decree with the gold seal), at the interview my fiancee submitted copies and I had a note attached that the certified copies were submitted with the I129F petition. If you want to go an extra step you sould have any copies certified again.

Basically she needs to bring EVERYTHING requested in Packet 4. We also brought duplicates of all the pictures and receipts and proofs from the original petition. Remember that what they are asking for at the interview if proof of continued relationship but we brought it all so we had things to go with the Timeline of Relationship, just in case they asked.

Hope I'm making sense and not just babbling!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan she live separately ?

I am a US citizen, my wife is a UK citizen and we are married, we will be applying for CR-1, now i wanted to know one thing, since my wife wants to complete her education can she stay in philly(she is studying there ) while I stay up in new york ( where my business is) until she completes her education? Also will I have to pay for education, since it was her family sponsoring it before we got married but after AOS can she also work and pay for it herself ?

Thanks!

Imagine you are a consular officer or USCIS Officer and then read what you have just posted. Do not think as yourself but as an immigration officer. I think you will answer your own question.

As far as who has to pay for her education - her parents can pay for whatever they wish to pay. I am not up on the CR1 but I believe she can work provided you comeplete the proper forms during the process. I would not advise living apart until such a time that she has adjusted status etc ....

Really though, the way your questions are worded and what you ask - I would hope a CO is not browsing the site!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswait time?
3 months is a pretty good general guide (throw in the holidays and your stretched out a bit longer). Don't fret, based on your NOA1 you should be seeing something soon. Try and relax - the most stressful days are yet ahead. (FYI - we got our NOA1 on June 19th and NOA2 on Sept 21st - almost 3 monts exactly)

RELAX and try to be patient, we know its hard!!! GOOD LUCK

PhilippinesWhy a Girl from the Philippines

PhilippinesWhy a Girl from the Philippines
Sometimes I think their is some misperception as to how girls from the philippines are, I can only relate my own story. First I have always thought that girls from this part of the world are beautiful both inside and out. I was fortunate to have been to the Philippines when I was serving in the USMC and have been to diffrent parts of Asia for business since then.

To me a girl is a girl is a girl meaning yes there will be cultural influence and yes maybe certain attributes that are local to that community or area but beyond that is a woman, a woman who just happens to live in another country who sometimes eats diffrent foods, speaks other languages and lives in a diffrent climate. What woman anywhere in the world does not want to be loved and cared for, and to feel secure, and I answer most all women do. once in love geography goes right out the window.

Of course there is an attraction to a better life, but thats just an attraction, the real thing is the same old things that have drawn couples together and kept them together for centuries, Love, Committment, chemistry, similair beleifs and attitudes, being able to make one another laugh and just that over all feeling of being meant to be. I think there are a lot of misperceptions both on behalf of westerners as well as east, I think though if people search their heart they will find that it all comes down to love, no matter where you may be from.

For me, I know I met a girl who just happens to live in another country and for me she is the girl I love, not a girl from the philippines, but just a beautiful woman inside and out. I think most of the people here on VJ know this and are lucky, so that being said cheers to us all, God Bless us and our realionships today, tommorow and the next.

PhilippinesThings You Hate & Love About The Philippines
First time I was in PI, I was 19yrs old, compliments of the USMC, Always loved the culture and food and people, not to mention I have always thought the women from that part of the world were beautiful, in so many ways. So, after my Divorce made a trip over to HK and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed the Asian Pacific rim, I had forgotten after all these years.

I met my girl online while I was spending the winter in Florida ( live in western pa ) one things led to another and here I am. I enjoy this site, so much to think about and love reading the posts. Still waiting the NOA2 but as difficult as it is, it definitely gives you time to reflect and absorb so that when she is here we can have a very good understanding of whats to come, at least as much as anyone ever knows what the future has in store.

I feel pretty lucky having met the girl I did, I would like to think that both of us being pretty bright and sharing so many similarities will be in good shape when this is all said and done. I think most importantly loving, as in truly loving is the best step forward. Hoping everyone is successful here.

PhilippinesFilipina Fiancee Freaking Out

I don't want to freak anybody out but do you know you have to cut another check for $1070 after you get married? That's for adjustment of status. After 90 days she'll be out of status until you file the AOS and pay the fee.

My fiance and I are only approaching the BPI phase, I hadn t even thought of the AOS phase 1070,Plus 2 Kids? We both knew up front we would have fees and fees and then a few more fees, were pretty much on the same page with the cash end of the process, but reading this post wonder how many people dont know or dont care to know it takes some income and planning to make this a seemless, somewhwat stressless Journey, The hurry up and wait is hard enough without adding onto it mutual mystification in regards to fees and unknowns of resources once your here together, just my 2 cents.
