K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUK police check details
The police certificate is valid for a period of twelve months from the date on it, in terms of address's if you apply to :

National identification Service, Subject Access Office, Room 350, New Scotland Yard, Broadway, London SW1H OBG, Tel: 02072302958 or Fax: 020 7230 2688 with a letter stating you require a copy of all in formation held on you in ttheir files for immigration purposed, it covers the whole of the UK

If you have every committed any offences you will also require the Memorandums of Conviction for each offence committed. These are obtainable from the court at which you were tried. if you have no offences then all you will get is a letter stating that no information is held about you. Any documents from new Scotland yard will have a NAtional Identification Service Authentic Document band on the top and bottom and it is dark blue.

Hope that helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 (finally)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo hurry for our approval !!!
My Fiance applied for the I-129F in Nebraska and got the NOA1 on 13th Feb 2007.
After this our problem started. I have searched and searched this site but cant find anyone with a situation similar to ours, so here goes.
On the 1st of March I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is treatable and the prognosis is good but I have up to a years treatment ahead of me before I get the all clear. My oncologist says he has no problem with me emmigrating to the States once I'm all clear and will give me a letter and my medical history on a cd ROM to take with me, I appreciate that health insurance will be difficult but its not impossible and I have been reassured that in the worst case scenario if it recurs within a year or two then just jump on a plane back to the UK and they will treat me.
Well our dilemma is -
Do we inform the USCIS now about the unforseen delay or
Do we wait til I get packet 3 from the embassy in the UK after the approval, then send them an email requesting an extension to the 4 month deadline, explaining the situation.
This is obviously a very stressful time for me and my fiance and he is hoping to come over for a few months towards the end of my chemo to help me out.
I think we must be the only ones on here right now that ARE NOT in a hurry to get the I-129F approval. If there was any way to jump some of you ahead of us we would.
I hope you all get a speedy approval

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIndirect concern regarding K1 application
Hi Darren,
You are in the same situation I was, I owned my own house and ran my own business.
I have recently sold my house and moved into rented accomodation and have wound up my business (a little earlier than I wanted to, but that was due to other issues).
My fiance phoned the NVC and told them my change of address, which they have added to the petition before it leaves for the London Embassy.
I also have redirected mail for 6 months (Royal Mail do this for a small fee), so if for any reason the address isnt changed it will be redirected to my new address anyway.
Your finances wont have any affect on the application, there have been those that have been declared bankrupt that obtained their K1 visa, its the petitioners finances they look at.
Any more questiond do feel free to ask and good luck in your journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone ever "failed" a medical ??
QUOTE (YuAndDan @ Dec 5 2007, 10:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
They are looking for medical conditions that pose a risk to others.

Section 221(g ) Classes of Aliens Ineligible for Visas or Admission. (1) Health-related grounds.-

http://travel.state....ities_1364.html

Example: the person has AIDS, or TB

They are also looking for anything that might cause the person immigrating to be a drain on Medicaid or public assistance.

My husband was initially denied because he had suffered a heart attack within 3 months of his medical. He had stents placed and was not on any restrictions by his physician, but the Embassy was worried that since he didn't have health insurance in place in the US, he might need medical care and not be able to pay for it himself.

His medical records from his doctor stating that he was "revascularized" and had passed a cardiac stress test were not sufficient. It was only after I intervened and assured them I would be adding him to my insurance after he arrived (and spoke with several people at the Embassy over a period of a week) that they finally relented and allowed him to receive his Visa. Also, we offered up proof that he had travel insurance which would cover him until he was settled in the US.

So it is not just about communicable diseases, it is also about money. Uncle Sam does not want to have to pay out for someone who has not paid into the sytem yet!

Ok ,thankyou..

Oh,just another question.I have never committed an offence either in New Zealand or here in the UK.Do I still have to provide police reports from the New Zealand and British police?.

yes you have to privide police certificates from places you resided , am not to sure if they need it for the I 129 , ( as in my case I was born in germany permanent resident of canada , only had the german police certificate avalable at the time when we filled the I 129 , they didnt ask for the canadian in a RFE,so i didnt need it till i got the package 3 ) but try to get all the documents together before NVC transfers the I 129f to your countrys us consolate who will then send you package3 ,

Ok thankyou.

Just one more question. Is there a website where I can find K1 visa processing times for Vermont service centre?.

your welcome , and yes there is , if you click on immigration timeline here , then click on k1 it will give you an estimate on processing service , good luck

Im sorry..Where is the link?.

Hi everyone,

I am a New Zealander living and working in the UK.I carry a New Zealand and a British passport.

My fiance is American and we are planning to start the K1 visa paperwork when she starts her new job soon.

I notice that the fiance must provide evidence of financial support to accompany the non immigrant form which i will fill out?.

So do i have to provide a bank statment for this?.And how much money must i have?..Is there a minimum requirement?.

Or have I misunderstood what this means?..sorry , Im new to all this.

Thankyou..

Im filling out the G325a that I downloaded off VJ.I encountered a problem when I came to the box in which you type in your parents date of birth.
It wont let me put the last digit of the year in.If i put,say 05/19/1948, It wont let me enter 8.(?)

Maybe i should just use a pen and write it i the old fashioned way.

Anyone else come across this?..

Use the citizenship of where you live, "England" You should be interviewing in London.

You are lucky, New Zealand is one of the countries that the Emabssy wont need you to get a police cert from, they will handle that for you.

I am a firm believer that more is better so the more detail you can provide the better good.gif

Could be. It's one of those "practice makes perfect" kind of arguments. Actually, practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect. You had good experience with "more". Others have been tripped up while trying to provide "more".

Every detail provided is an opportunity for scrutiny. If you provide a lot of detailed information and all of it is completely accurate and supported by included evidence, more is definitely more. If any detail provided doesn't stand up to scrutiny, more is not only less, it's trouble. Whether more actually helps is another question entirely.

On the other hand, if there are definite red flags, I'm for explaining them up front with USCIS instead of waiting for the foreigner to be questioned about them at interview.

In short, more is needed only when more is needed.

I felt that an explanation as to why we were both in Russia would, as you say, explain the situation up front. It's not a typical vacation site like Cancun would be. smile.gif As far as other visits go, I'm hoping that dates of his travel are sufficient. I did write what airport he flew into but he'll have the copies of his e-ticket emails, passport stamps, etc. too.
Thank you for your responses. Every opinion and experience helps!

Sounds fine, but you don't need to write a biography, just the pertinent facts.

If it wont fit on the lines on the I-129F, put a notation on the lines "SEE Attachment" and on the attachment put "I-129F Line X.

I think perhaps I'm writing too much. Should I just include dates, location, etc.
We met in Moscow, Russia as I was studying abroad so I've included why we were both in Russia. Is this neccessary? Or am I being overly cautious?

Hi everyone,
We're assembling our K-1 packet and getting all of our proof of meeting togther. We have the ticket stubs from my fiance's past two visits to the U.S. and all of the passport stamps. We're just missing the ticket stub from his first trip to visit me, back in September of 2006. We had no idea then that we'd need it now. Is this okay? Will all the proof from the last two trips, plus the passport stamp from the first be okay? We've got lots of pictures of us together as well. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
I'm not making enough money to bring my fiance on my own, I will need to use my mother as my co-sponsor. But at this time I am looking for a second job. I figure every little bit helps, especially with all the fees and planning a wedding. I was looking at the I-134 and there is only space enough for one job. I'm wondering if anyone has filed it while working two jobs and if so, how do you fit it on the page? Or do you add a supplement? I'd be combining both of my job's incomes so I'm assuming I wouldn't need two forms. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I had (still have) two jobs. I filled out my primary on the lines and added an asterick. Also added that asterick by my totals. In the nearest open space, I wrote my second job, stated it was part-time, and added that number as well. Then, when I included the letter from my main job, I added my part-time job letter after. Had no issues.

Thanks to both of you. I'm so glad that VJ exists because I swear I have a new question everyday. good.gif

How long was this period of time?
I don't think that matters. As long as you had an address back home that was yours, had all your belongings there and you were still receiving mail at that address, it was still your home, even though you were traveling away from it for a period of time.

The only way I would put any other address was if you moved to a certain location and were not returning to your previous address.

I would just put your address.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me smile.gif

It was from November 06 through to February 07.But I didnt actually have a permanent address. My belongings were in storage and my mail waas going to a friends house.
