IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-130 MARCH 2013 FILERS!! NBC

i  am a us citizen ,, my hubby is from india ,,we also filed i130 march  20 ,, i have beenlivingindia since oct 10 2012,,, we still are only  at  the NOA1 stage,,of the process ,,still have never to the email though or the hardcopy,,,we are also very frustrated ,,im considering  back  to the us to wait there for him ,,but it is both our dream to live together and go through the visa process together so we can fly together,, being seperated just brings on so many hardships tht they  dont even cared about,, i filed from abroad ,,  and still waiting so i dont think there is any truth to filing abroad gets it complet any quicker ,, our case is very simple to process niether of us have children ,, and we frontloaded our i130 petition ,, uscis doesnt realize we pay for  this service ,,they act like they are doing it for free,, can you imagine how much money the government makes off of people trying to immigrate,, they need people like all of us ,, its makes me sad for the ones tht do have larger families trying to get them all home and these people dont give a #######,,  what is that take so long to do background checks,, this is how they weed people out of this crazy game only the strong stay in it to win it ,, i guess

you do not need to transfer the funds to america afaik. however the instructions of I 864 do state i believe that the assets should be liquid and readily available.of course if you have a checking / saving account with the money it should be fine as its already cash asset.

you will only need to show / document the proof of the assets in the bank by getting the bank statements endorsed / stamped by the bank officials to submit along with I 864.

If you intended to open the bank acct in US just for this, then you can probably skip doing this.

Also, being an Indian i assume you do know the RBI regulates money being remitted from India.Money to india is not an issue, but i hear its a pain to transfer large amounts to banks abroad.Indian Rupee is not a freely convertible currency, and is regulated.

Thanks for your time & reply.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2014 Interviews

This is really frightening me.  I am also Catholic and my husband is Hindu.  However, we did just a standard court marriage in Mumbai under the Special Marriage Act.

I agree, the Special Marriage Act is specifically supposed to ALLOW marriages between people of different religions without either of them having to give up their religion.  What right does the embassy have to say that because I was raised Catholic that I MUST belong to a Catholic church?!  I put that I was Catholic on my app, but I am Non-practicing.  Now I'm terrified that bad things are going to happen because I put a religion down!  This is terrible!

My husbands interview in Mumbai was may 7 after the initial interview my husband was asked for a private interview with an american male who was rude to my husband claimed that because my husband is Hindu and I was raised catholic but I don't belong to a catholic church that our marriage is in valid how can this be the courts in India would have never registered our marriage if it was invalid he is from jetpur we married religious ceremony for respect of his family to me this is discrimination and it says so in the special marriage act of India now we are in ap . Not knowing what's going happen now
