K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2009 K-1 Visa filers
I know all the medical stuff that we need to fly our kitty into the states, I just can't find ANY info about if I can bring him onto the plane with me or if he has to go in the cargo area. I also cannot find out how much it's going to cost. It's very frustrating because I found a super cheap flight to Belfast in March, and I don't want to pass it up, but I need to know how to book my cat on the flight too. It's exhausting!

Congrats again to all you approvals. Our approval date got pushed back...again. We're now on the 30th of January :(

Sheesh! I'm away from my computer for a few days, and look what happnes!!! I'm soooooo happy for all of you I'm crying. I'm not even kidding! Congrats!!! Our approval dates have been pushed back, but I'm trying to just ignore that and pay attention to what's happening with everyone else. I turned my mobile alerts on for the USCIS web site because I'm not at home to check my email or VJ as often as I would like, so now I'll get it on my phone. I know we still have a while cause we didn't file till the 30th of October, and there's only 2 couple below us on Igor's list, but I'm trying to be patient. Our NOA2 will be very bitter sweet for us because even tho we're one step closer, I know it could still be up to 10 months before we're together for good. But it'll still be amazing!

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my cat back into the states with me from Belfast when I go visit my fiance in March. Continental only has information about domestic US flights, and nothing about international ones. Ugh! But in other good news, the price of my ticket went down by almost 150 dollars! Woo Hoo!!!!

Congrats again everyone!!!!

Okay, well that confirms my suspicions. Carl's gonna freak when I tell him. Hopefully he'll be all for the getting it done the same day idea. We had a very long talk today with much tears on my side, and we're thinking that we might wait to file our packet after we get our noa2 because it's going faster than we'd planned, and we're afraid that he won't be ready to come over when he has to, even if he waits the 6 months that he's allowed after the visa is filed. This is all so stressful. We pretty much canceled out wedding ceremony too because we just can't afford to save for the wedding and a place of our own. I haven't been this depressed about this whole situation in a really long time. Ugh. My eyes hurt from crying :(

Yaaay!!!
This month better go fast! I want this all to get moving!

Ooh and I have a question I keep forgetting to ask:
My Fiance lives in Northern Ireland (as you all well know by now) and I'm wondering where he'll have to do his Medical exam? My cousin's fiance (from england) only had two options for places to go for it, and they were both in England. I'm hoping they only listed the ones that were near him, and there are more in NI and other British countries? Does anyone know? Cause if he has to fly to England for the exam, and then fly back again for the interview, it's going to be a lot of hassle and expense...yikes!!!!

Go go go go go CSC! Get me my man quick!!!!

sad.gif we're not spending the holidays together, but as an early wedding present my grandma bought me a plane ticket to go out and see him in late March or early April! But we are exchanging gifts via skype on christmas day. Yay! So I'll be in NI for 2 or 3 weeks in a few months. And then hopefully just a few months after that we'll be together forever!
As for weather, it's pretty much miserable in both our countries. Freezing temps and rain for him and just freezing Temps for me. When I got up for work on Monday it was- 27*F. Soooooo cold. No snow though, so I guess that's a good thing...I can't wait to move out of the mountains and get away from some of this weather!!!! August/September can't come soon enough!!!

I just found this October post and its great to see that I'm not by myself going crazy already with this wait. I hope eveyone gets their NOA2 2 months earlier then what is predicted.

Where do I find Igor's page?

Welcome to the waiting game!!!

Hey Jessica! Don't worry about being a downer ... I'm sure we all have those days. I've had my fair share, and just to talk with my guy for a few minutes can really turn the day around for me so quickly. We also have a time difference, so when I am up and getting ready for work, he is usually asleep and I have to wake him up OR he has stayed away to say good bye to me (isn't he the best!) ... THEN when I get home from work, he is usually leaving for work so we DO get time together but abbreviated (he works mostly evenings).

Soo... you like romance novels huh? Have you read the Twilight series? I also can recommend some other REALLY good reads, ones that have a bit of romance in them, but enough to keep you entertained and not missing your guy too terribly much with each and every word if you are interested!

HANG IN THERE! Our NOA2's will come in time smile.gif
[/quote]

Yeah talking to him definately does help, but he's so tired all the time. I feel bad for keeping him up, but we talk as much as we can, and that helps. Plus we text message all day via facebook mobile, so that's good too.

I love love love the Twilight series. I have read the whole thing many times. I just went to the midnight showing of New Moon last night, and loved it! I'm always looking for new books! That's basically all I do at work while I'm sitting by the empty pool!

I hope the NOA2s come soon, but I try not to think about it too much...

happy for them but i could get happier if csc speeds up! happy.gif

things have slowed up over on the vermont side too, just one got an approval yesterday, and my timeline went backwards by 14 days or so, the party seems to be over

change that to 19 days behind schedule, it's really moving fast.... in reverse. Keeping an eye on the timeline is really depressing, think it's better to ignore.

I agree completely. Dwelling on the timeline just serves to drive most people up a wall. Better that we all find something to keep our minds off of the fact that we're waiting!

That being said, what do you guys do to keep occupied during this crazy waiting period?

I find that my job is a wonderful distraction! Also, James and I have a nightly routine of Skype chatting when I get home from work, and lately we've taken to watching Japanese dramas together. All of this leaves me very little time to worry, and I feel a bit better smile.gif

What do I do to keep occupied?? .... keep checking the VJ web site and the USCIS website every 10 minutes wacko.gif ! LOL! No just kidding ... there is plenty to keep me occupied (work, Christmas planning, talking to my love, kids, work, kids, oh, and did I mention work and kids?!) and I'm having fun planning a wedding without a set wedding date!

Ugh, I don't have a lot to keep my occupied. I'm a lifeguard at a pool that is empty for most of the day, so I do a lot of reading, but I read a lot of romance novels, so that just makes me sad. We talk everyday on Skype, but by the time I get home from work, he's already had a really long day, and he usually falls asleep while we're talking and then goes to bed. I try not to check the timelines unless there's an update on here cause it just gets me depressed. I'd be planning a wedding, but with no date and no money, it's virtually impossible. I'm uber down right now, and am not really sure how to pick myself up...
Sorry to be such a downer, but life's pretty damn hard right now.

I'm actually really surprised at how patient Carl and I are being. But I guess it's because we know even if we're approved soon, we won't be seeing each other for a long time anyway, so there's not point in freaking out yet. We'll see if that still holds true next week, or even tomorrow for that matter tho. I just miss him so much and wish I could fast forward to the wedding. I did not notice anybody talking about this so far, but it looks like CSC starts to take a good example from VSC in terms of time it reserves to process I-129F petition. I closely monitored time Timeline suggests my petition is going to be reviewed, and starting from the very beginning (October 13 check was cashed and NOA1 was sent to me) and for good 2 weeks the forecast was rather negative. The review time was sliding far and far away from me and finally reached the middle of the February. However, then, something strange have happened with the statistic of CSC and it looks for me like number of workers, who are assigned to review K1 petitions, was at least doubled. At any rate, over the last week my Timeline forecasted review time got closer to me by more than month! It states now that it is going to be reviewed somewhere in between December 28th and January 9th. I also have a feeling that it is only beginning of the process and the forecast will improve in the future significantly. Hope that my observations are right and we all would really get our NOA2s much sooner than we hoped.

QUOTE (Leenie @ Nov 5 2009, 08:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You're right about that. My timeline forecasts approval at the end of December! And I have noticed some people on Igor's list getting approvals in about two months, so that's super good news. Gogogo CSC!

Hey, question for everyone. My cousin filed for her K-1 in mid september, and she posted on her facebook today that her visa was approved. Is that possible....?? I don't think she's been on this website, and I think she may have been mistaken, but I don't want to say anything to her until I find out if it's possible for their visa to be processed and approved this quickly.
Thanks everyone!

Has she gone through the interview process at the consulate yet? If not, it's probably the PETITION that got approved, not the VISA.

But yes, the VSC is crankin' up on their K-1 approvals... so it is possible that she already got her NOA2. Hopefully the CSC will start crankin' it up too! good.gif

I think she got her NOA2 and the'll be setting up their interview soon. We'll see. Our check hasn't been cashed or anything yet, so it's hard to believe that they've already gotten their NOA2, but I suppose it's possible. I guess I'm just jealous that me and my fiance have been together for like a year longer than they have, and they're already so far along in this process. it's not fair!!!

If you're considering a K-1/Fiancé Visa - you're going to need to marry in the US.

Nothing would stop you from having a ceremony in his home country after you've married in the US (as an alternative).

You could also marry in his home country and file for a spousal visa (another alternative).

All the things say that you need an EXACT copy of the packet you send in, fine. What I need to know is do I put original receipts and boarding passes in the packet that I send to the service center, or do I make copies of them and put them in so that each packet has copies. Does that even make sense? I guess what I mean is, is it okay to have one packet with originals and one packet with copies because then they're not exact? Am I taking the "Exact" thing to literally? I just don't want to have to make corrections and for this process to take longer! Please help!!! ohmy.gif
And one more thing, who do I make my check out to when I finally send in the packet, and where in the packet do I put the check? Should it be just right on top?? I'm nervous and don't want to mess this up. My fiance and I have been apart for so long now, I don't want to make it longer by filing the paperwork wrong. I'm really appreciative of everyone's help! Thank you so much!!!

Take your pile of papers and proof of relationship, run it through the photocopier, send the original, and keep the copy. The copy is in case they lose the original. You don't want to have to compile all that paperwork again. smile.gif

I ended up making 2 copies and sending one to my SO, in case he needed it at the interview.

Okay, me and the copier are going to become great friends tomorrow, and then I'm off to the post office! Thank you all so much for your input! It's really appreciated! Congrats on your approval!!! I know the fiance visa is probably the way to go, can anyone tell me how long the process usually takes? Once the paperwork is filed, is the fiance allowed to enter the US, or do they have to wait until its accepted etc?

I would really appreciate any information, its so great to hear from others going through the same thing!

Thanks so much!

I'm in almost the exact same position only my fiance and I met about 2 years ago working at Disney world, and I just had a quick question about the Embassy that someone from Northern Ireland would go to. I know there is one in Belfast, but it's not listed on any of the places on this website. Does that mean he will have to go to the one in London?? We need to know this ASAP! And also, we put Belfast as our interview sight on our forms, so if he DOES have to interview in London, will that be a problem?? Thanks for the help! I wasn't really sure where to post this...

The UK does not require that she be at the interview...

I didn't think that they did, but that's why I asked, cause I wanted to find out for sure....lol.

This process is overwhelming at best...ask away! Yes...You can go to the interview with him. And to answer your question about the embassy I just went to verify under the embassy info and if you live anywhere in the UK, you will use the London Cosulate.

well first...take a deep breath... realize this is a long process... nothing happens overnight... and even when it seems to be speeding up it probably isnt... and when you have questions just ask they are alot of very knowledgable people here that can and will answer your questions... sometimes it might take a day or three... and sometimes you might even have to go and "BUMP" your thread to get a little attention....

But to answer you 1st question... for the K1 visa there is only 1 interview... for the benificiary... BUT.. depending on the consulate the petitioner might be well advised to attend that interview... so you will have to research your embassy to see if this is the case for you!

Hope that helps!

Wow i wasn't expecting a reply until in the morning! Okay the deep breath only calmed me for a minute, but thank you for the answers! That helps a lot. I'm so greatfull that I found this web site! It helps so much to have ppl who actually know what we're going through. We don't have a whole lot of family support. So thank you very much!!!

I'm filing my I-129F this week for my fiance who lives in Northern Ireland. I've been reading through all these threads pretty much all day making sure I'm prepared and have everything I need. Some people are talking about interview(s) plural, and I was under the impression that there was only one interview at the embassy in the country that the Beneficiary is from. Will I have to interview somewhere as well? I also read some where fiances were going to the interview together. I didn't know that was a possibility, or is it only for certain countries?? I'm sorry if this is totally random or I'm being a dunce, but I'm starting to get really frustrated and discouraged by all of this, and I needed a few questions answered. Thank you for your help in advance. You're saving me from going nuts before I even get the thing in the mail! helpsmilie.gif

I wrote dates and places on the back of each and then put them into a ziploc bag, 2-hole punched it and stuck it on the Acco fastener.

Who has 100 extra Acco fasteners lying around? I do! smile.gif

I ended up just writing the descriptions on the backs of the photos and then arranging them inside of a clear 8 1/2 X 11 sleeve and then attatching them to the acco fastener. It looked really good!

How has everyone been attaching their photos to their packets?? Do you just stick them to a piece of paper, or put them in a baggie, or what? I'm just not sure how to do it. Would love some advice! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI need Clarification
My fiance's k-1 interview will be soon. We're just waiting for the Embassy to respond and tell us when it is. My question is: if After He has his visa in his hand, but before he enters the U.S. we got married in Northern Ireland would he have a problem getting into the U.S. or signing our official Marriage licenses for our required 90 marriage according tot he k-1 rules. I know this is confusing, and I've read a lot of threads kind of like my question, but not exactly. This would be after we've completed the entire k-1 process and he's got his visa and is ready to go. His family really wants to see us get married, and cannot come to the wedding here in the U.S. so I need to know if we'd be voiding this whole process if we get married before he comes here, but after he gets his visa.
I'm sorry this is so rambling, but I'm very stressed with all of this, and I need a straight answer.
Thank you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow Long To Come To The US?

Usually it's 6 months - but it could be less (there's some exceptions, based on RFE dates or medical issues)

Pay attention to the expiration date on the visa, once it's issued.

Thats what I thought. Thank you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow Long To Come To The US?
Just a quick question. How much time is my fiance allowed to wait before he comes to the US after he gets his Visa? I've heard 4 months and 6 months, would just like some clarification.
Thanks,
J
