Thanks Ten!!

As of right now, no plans...work my part-time job, catch up on my travel business -I've been swamped and then my son has soccer practice tonight. A friend *might* be coming over and bringing dinner. Other than that, just an ordinary day.

Just saw my little tiny niece she just weighed 6 pounds even. So tiny and cute I held her for two hours. It was a big family party in the room. Lots of pictures of her. So percious.

Congrats on being an aunt. I'm the aunt of twin girls, they will be 5 in Sept...but I only get to see them 2x a year. One looks exactly, splitting image of my son....it's so unbelievable.

Elliott was voted off.... I liked him. Taylor is going to win.

Danielle is America's Top Model....I really liked both, but I thought Joanie was gonna take it. She'll go far. Thank God Jade was gone....did you see the way she said goodbye??? no hugs....just piece (out)???!!

If you guys had your choice, which hotel would you stay (prefer to stay) near to the Embassy...can you list by your preference choice?

-Hilton -is this really within walking distance, because I can get a great travel agent rate (cheaper than the other places
-Knutsford
-Courtleigh
-Pegasus

Thanks for any info...

Hey everybody,
Just checking in from the Afternoon shift. It's STILL raining here in Detroit. 7 days straight now :( I'm going back to catch up now.

It was good.....not great.....won't give anything away until Rhonda gets to watch it!! I thought Sunday night was better than last night.

Thanks Mindy  I had my sister tape it for me since I was at work. I probably won't get to watch it until Saturday.

Ok, guys, I have been really queasy this last two days constantly, and I just had a burrito for breakfast. Hmmm.

We better get that pregnant list going again

In this order:

Jill (thndrdancr)
Squitto
Jonesie
Shemanya (sbj_1221)
Doodle
Elizabeth
Dee
Mindy
Jamie
Joanna
Rhonda :innocent:
Kelly & Anna (after your men get here  )

To those of you who are currently pregnant, how's it going?

Whoa--Whoa--Whoa....take me off that list. If it hasn't happened yet, it's most likely not going to happen, but things happen for a reason!! I'm over that 40 yr mark (bday this week), don't know if I could deal with having another likkle one....a 12 yr old is enough for me !!

Thanks Dee...I loooove his eyes too !!! :D

Hey Everyone,
Okay here is the deal on the Embassy....The phone does ring and ring and ring...Sometimes you wait the entire 2 hours and get no one. Sometimes you wait half hour and get someone. Sometimes you wait 5 minutes. It just depends who is working that day. Just keep letting it ring. I would call on one speaker phone on my head and use my cell to call at the same time. I would push prompt 1 for one phone and prompt 2 for another etc. This worked pretty well!!! The day for me was always Wednesday.

DS230..They tell you to check back in 2 weeks. I checked back after 1 week and it was about 9 days and they had the interview date ready. Same for my friends situation...9 days...

Once you drop the DS230, figure about 4-6 weeks until the interview. This seems to be pretty accurate. You will get the date in about 9-11 days and then time to do the medical, pay the paymaster, and get ready for the interview.

I hope this helps! PM if you want....

Sara

Anyone that is familiar with calling the flippin Embassy especially the most recent folk.

Did the phone just ring and ring and ring and ring? If so, did anyone ever answer and if you waited, how long di you wait ?

Did you find a particular day (or time) of the week better to get through than another? I've been trying since 1:30pm (their time) and I've had no problems getting through to that final 1 through 3, but it just keeps ringin and ringin.

After the DS230 was dropped off, how long should I expect (yeah, expect....) anyway, when do you think they'll "know" when my date is actually scheduled for? Right away? wait a couple of days? a week?

Please provide me with some insight, of course that will help other "newbies".

Thanks!

Kelly

Thank you Sara for responding. Yes that helps ALOT !!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP LADIES!!!!!!! PLEAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Well...Shauna and I are over here stressing our little hearts out!!!! Does anyone have a number for the Kingston embassy???? Do you know how we can get through to speak with a live person?????

Sometimes I wish we had the same problems as everyone else on this thread........we wish we could talk about problems we were having with our husbands but right now we do not even know if they will be our husbands this year!!!! :crying:

AMEN SISTA!!!!!!

You can only call between 1:30-3:30 T-F
Call 876-935-6000
Push 1 for visa services
Push 4 for immigrant visa section
Push 6 if you have a case number
Wait for the prompts, they will ask you to punch 1, 2, or 3 depending on the last name of your fiance. Push the appropriate number and wait.

FYI- when calling kingston , when it says to choose 1, 2,3 depending on your last name....ignore it. It doesn't matter what your name starts with. i have used all 3. I actually had the most luck when i dial 1 because i figured that most people were choosing 2. The woman that handle the phones are sitting in front of computers and all they do is type in your case number. If one line is continually busy, call back and switch numbers

Well, Craig did it, I don't know how...but he said it was easy. He picked up Packet 4 today. He also said the riots in Kingston today were reeeeeeeally really bad. I had an ill feeling alllll day that something just wasn't right.

The chic at the Embassy "told" Craig...."we'll call you with your interview date and you'll just have to call and set up your medical apptmt". I had to kindof laugh, but I'm going to try tomorrow.

I'm off to buy Dr Robin Smith's book....Lies at the Altar.

i have the dutty wine song in my head
anyway mike handed in his ds-230 last week...when should we get something from the embassy??

Hey there,
Craig dropped his DS230 on Monday, but the chic at the Embassy told him to come back today to pick up Packet 4, so that's what he's doing as I type. I emailed the Embassy 4x and no response. They were ALWAYS quick to respond when I asked for extensions!! Now that we're getting down to the nitty gritty, they won't respond.

Can anyone tell me, do they have the actual interview DATE inside Packet 4 ? I'm going to try to call today, I had every intention of doing it yesterday, but stuck with an online travel presentation.

Thanks!

Kelly

Joanna - it's unfortunate that the airlines had a schedule change. It happens all of the time. Air Jamaica has taken that service (the morning flight) out of the system from May 13th and starts up again May 21st. It will be a regularly scheduled flight after the 21st.

Jill-

I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know truly how sorry I am that this has happened. I think you mentioned something to me the other day that truly makes sense. Back when the denial happened, you could not understand "why" or "how" that could happen but God always has our backs and our best interest at heart. He allows things to happen for reasons that not all of us understand at the time but he does this to protect us.

I think I echo many when I say that anyone involved in a LDR with a Jamaican has at one point in their life wondered if this is "real". Some people never find out until it is too late so count yourself as one of the "blessed" ones. Even though it may hurt now, stay strong because just as one door closes, God always opens another for us.

Please stay in touch......

Kim
SOOOOOOOOO true Kim !!! I requested my extension for part of that same reason.

Jill we ARE here for you, I truly know how hard it is and trust, it's very hard to get that back --long distance or not.

Craig went to drop off his DS230 part 1 this morning and the chic at the Embassy said he didn't HAVE the entire form??? I KNOW he did, but gave him back the same one and said for him to fill it out ALL over again. How flippin frustrating is that ! She kept the form that had all of the information on it, so it too 30 minutes for me to give the information to him ...argh. I HOPE the embassy will be "satisfied"!!! Then he's going over to apply for the police certificate. It took him about 2 hours just to get told he didn't have ALL of the DS 230 form !!

CONGRATS Shemanya !!

Mother's Day -- soccer.... we have a game at 3pm about an hour & 40 minutes (each way) from our house. It's just another day in my book. My mother, eh...maybe buy her a card ?? We're not close like that to be hangin and whatnot. My son won't get or make anything for me....maybe a couple of goals scored from him would be cool.

Weather here is beautiful. Weekend has been nice and somewhat relaxing....just soccer, soccer ....but my son has a project and homework to catch up on, argh !

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I had to laugh because when we were at Beaches (Negril) last week --they had a dinner (white glove service) for our group of travel agents, the beach party was going on and they got some of us (that could dance) out with everyone and we were all doin the dutty wine. Watching the guests dance, was hilarious !

I can't wait to take Craig out to "party", we do our share in JA, but then again we can be ole married folk to !

CONGRATS on the approval!! I'm (we) are sooooooooooooo darn anxious, it's killing me now !!! Craig was supposed to pick up the passport today, but this lady (a friend of a friend) that owns a shop in Negril said they were "supposed" to arrive yesterday. Craig keeps telling her that he needs it RIGHT away !! argh...

It's absolutely beautiful here to, haven't ventured out yet, just busy catching up. All of my windows are open.

Hey, where do I see the pics of Jonesie? They aren't on yahoo? I posted a few new ones from this past trip.

Any plans for the weekend?

Hi-

My name is Kim and I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My fiancee lives in Jamaica nd we filed for the K-1 visa in February 2006. I am in the waiting process at this point!!!! I have been really stressed because it seems like the NOA2 is taking FOREVER.

Sounds like most of you are pros at this and you already went through my pain. I could sure use some support and words of wisdom from any...ALL of you!!!!!!

Thanks-

Welcome Kim, I'm going through the process, so are 2 others (that we know of). If you have any questions please feel free to post or PM me.

My trip to JA last week was soooo exhausting. They worked us to death ! Good news is that I was able to spend lots and lots of time with Craig. My friend (and roomie) gave Craig her band (all inclusive) so he stayed with us the entire trip. Really only got to see him in the evenings and one full day. It was awesome!! Then came home to news that a long time family friend passed away. I just really need to catch up on a good nights sleep :o

Things are moving along and time is definitely ticking at this point! He has to drop off his DS230 and apply for the Police Cert (needs to get his passport back--he tried to weeks ago to get his police cert, but they wouldn't let him get it with just a photo ID and Birth Cert...ONLY a passport). Then wait for the Packet 4....

Have a great day ! At least with it being so quiet, I don't have pages upon pages to catch up on :D

Ok I got a question, I know we have discussed this on this thread before....Who has had to pay for items they brought into Jamaica? What types of items where they and how much did you have to pay?

I am bringing Adrian 2 church outfits and a pair of sneakers, and one of his friends wants me to bring him a pair of timberland boots, I also have some baby clothes for a gift for his sisters new baby. Do you think it will be OK? It is not much just a few things but it is obvious that the shoes and baby clothes are not mine.

Last time I went I had a whole suitcase full of stuff for his family but they just asked me if everything in my suitcases was for me and I said yes and they never even checked...

But when Adrian went through this last time he had 2 cell phones and they made him pay almost $200US before they would let him through and some other guy had some other electronics and they made him pay.

Also has anyone ever brought back Ackee, I think it is illegal to bring back, right?? I am taking my old Food Saver and was going to cut up the Ackee and package it with the Food Saver and put it in my suitcase, I guess if they say anything about me having it I could just act like I didnt know and let them throw it away??
I've been bringing things for years and years. Last March I brought 2 extra suitcases of baby clothes for 2 different friends and they questioned me --cause I had 5 bags between me and my son, but I lied reeeeeally well and said I was there for wedding and whatnot......thank god they didn't go through any of them. Every other month I went down last year I was never questioned. I pack anything that I bring for someone deep down in the bag or in concealed apartments. As Shauna said, just make sure you say you are NOT bringing anything for any "friends or family" AND take tags/prices off of the new stuff. I've always stayed at a resort, maybe you can just say you're staying at a resort, just so that they don't question you further. They never ever check. On my way back into the states this past Thursday, my bag was THE last bag off of the flight and then I was pulled to another customs line that I've never been through before and asked alllllllllllllll kinds of whacky and stupid lame questions. Who knows what that was all about and it was the same guy that checked me the last 2x I went.....very bizarre.

Enjoy your trip !!

i don't know i would cut off the tags and stuff so maybe they won't realize... ;)
Yea I was going to cut the tags, but i just bought myself some new clothes that i am taking and wanted to leave the tags on in case I dont wear them and when i get home I might take them back, but i guess i will just take the tags off and keep them at home till i get back in case i want to take something back.

Just save the tags from *your* clothes, but definitely take them off.
