By the way, guys, can somebody direct me to the trustworthy information source, on the topic of what kind of reqs I should satisfy, if I want to move a pet (chinchilla) from Russia to USA?

Answering my own question, this is a link to the document on this topic, provided to me by USA consulate in Russia:

Just got back from all my Christmas/New Year trips with my fiancee, pretty exhausted, but very happy. We spent Christmas week at Russia, together, crossed the ocean and spent New Year week here, in US. Saturday, I waived here "good bye", and she flied back, to Russia, hopefully, for just another 2 months. Waiving "good bye" becomes more and more difficult thing to do, though... progressively, every time. :( But now, getting to the good things! I just looked at the timeline and saw that 9 out of 15 last approvals are Octoberians! Congratulations, everybody, who got it already! Honestly, guys... I understand, that is just the first little step on the very long road, but that is the very important one... because that is the only one, when we are so far from our loved ones, and the only one when we can make very little if not no effect on the process outcome. So, congratulations, wholeheartedly! My own timeline promise me January 14-28... but I saw different kind of dates in the Igor's, including those, from the end of October, and of course, I hope that it would happen earlier. :) Best of luck to all of us. :)

Wow, guys! Did you check the Igor's list today? September fillers had quite a feast today, I should say! And it looks like more is comming since many in the September thread are also been touched last 2 days. The best part for us is... 3 approvals are issued for couples with September 22nd NOA1 date. smile.gif

Yes, I saw, I saw! It's been something like 9 approvals in the last two days, which is more than there have been in the last two weeks (it seems). After a relatively crappy work week so far, this is the best news I've heard lately!! And I'm over the moon that even more people are getting touches!!! Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn CSC kicking.gif That's the spirit kicking.gif Make me happy star_smile.gif

Everybody seems to be occupied getting ready to the Christmas trip, so there is not too much of excitement in the threads. smile.gif I'm starting my maraphon today too - leaving for my passport in just a couple hours. But at the same time... 15-17 September stats really gives a hope. That is a good Christmas present. smile.gif

My schedule turns out to be completely crazy. Coming weekend I'm driving to Minneapolis to get my new Russian international passport (that is the easiest way for Russian-born person to get to Russia, far easier than go there using my US passport, don't ask me why smile.gif). Next week, Monday through Wednesday, my job sends me to Rockford, IL to go through training for new project I'm in. Finally, Thursday, 24th, I'm flying to Russia, from Chicago, to spend holidays with my fiancée. I still can't quite believe it. Decision was made and implemented so fast, immediately after I found out that my passport is ready for pick up. To top it all, my fiancée lives in my native city, which I didn't visit for good 11 years... My friends are going to tear me apart... My hope is that I would not offend any of them by the fact that I would spend majority of my time with my fiancée and her son. At any rate... With such kind of schedule, all time I have left to prepare for my journey are those 4 evenings after-job-tired-time, during this week, Monday through Thursday... That is insanely small amount of time, taking in account how many gifts I should buy... Especially this one for my fiancée 11 years old son. Despite all of this, I'm happy. Pure happy. Even so, I worry about gifts, passport, time, meeting with my childhood after so many years, I'm incredibly happy that I'm going I will have a chance to kiss my love in just 10 days. Wish me luck on this journey, everybody.

Good luck!!! Enjoy your time together I also will be travelling on the 29th to Kursk to see my love. smile.gif

Thank you, and good luck to you too! I will be in Ekaterinburg, by the way smile.gif

Yes, but I don't see any logic in it whatsoever... It was no new approvals reported for good week already, and yet IGOR's list forecast keeps progressing, moving from September 3rd to September 9th over the course of the same quite week... The big question is: based on what data forecast dates are changing? Up to this day, I was pretty sure that it reflects stats of our Timelines... But now...

Figured this mistery out. Math, as usual, is a wonderful science with strict rules it follows. It is just I'm dumb smile.gif The secret is that there is one record in September, for couple which went through the expedited processing procedure, due to the fact that one of them is serving in US military. So, as a result, they received there NOA1 on September 25 and week later they got their NOA2. That is a reason, why their record is hiding - it is happened more than 2 months ago! However, Timeline accurately counts this September 25th, calculating an average for September, which is September 12, currently. So, yes... Unfortunately, current Timeline saying about the dates CSC is currently working on is a bit misleading... by a good week, at the very least. That we all would need to keep in mind, looking at it. Obviously, the more CSC would be progressing through the month, the less would be this gap between real and calculated dates. And the date will become trustworthy again as soon as will see first 25th or later date in the list of latest 15 petitions, being approved by CSC.

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between January 26, 2010 and February 2, 2010*.

A 14 day change for the worse!! Ugh ... that wasn't a very fun thing to find this morning. And it will probably just get worse with the impending holidays. crying.gif

Do not get too upset, guys. I think, I saw this picture once, in September, already. It slowed down, almost stopped first; my timeline run away from me by good month. But then end of the month came, whole bunch of petitions were reviewed over just few days and things started to look far better very quickly. It does look like pattern to me, even so there is not enough data to conclude it for sure, mathematically speaking. It does look like there is no fixed, very small number of workers, assigned to work on I-129F every day, but rather there is big group of workers which has different assignments throughout the month and I-129F is just one of them. That can explain why statistic behaves so strangely - jumps so high and then gets to complete stun. It could be just wishful thinking, but let's wait until the end of the month. Something tells me that we will see a feast again. smile.gif

Correction smile.gif In October, not in September smile.gif

The more time passes, more I start to envy guys who applied to VSC... The irony of the situation is that when I started to fill out petition package, I was very happy that I shouldn't send it to VSC - it was so slow at that time. Now VSC is a month ahead of us. *sigh*

The process is layed out very nicely right there:

I suggest you to follow all links in this flowchart and study it very carefully, but pay you special attention to this one:

Scroll down below and your will see exact list of what you, as a petitioner, should provide after NOA2 would arrived to move to the next step in flowchart without much problem.

Just wondering if you ladies are starting to think/plan for the wedding? If so, how are you doing it?

I'm thinking about it, but unfortunately, no money and no date makes it really hard to plan a wedding. venues don't like it if you don't know when you're getting married of if you'll even be able to pay them...ha ha.

I wouldn't be disappointed about these 5 months too much. That is not what it is really going to be, but more is what CSC is aiming for. Right here:

http://www.visajourn...le.php?id=71522

far more realistic time can be found (at the bottom of the page). This forecast is based on live statistic and Timeline updates it daily. As you can see, right now it is far more optimistic than those 5 months smile.gif

Oh okay. Thank you. I was very confused. I haven't gotten my NOA1 yet, so it'll be a few more days. Thanks!

I would say that technically you did get it, if your check was cashed already. If your bank provides such service, take a look on the scan of the back side of the check you wrote to USCIS. You will find a number printed on the back of it, started from WAC and 10 digits after that. That is a nubmer, assigned to your petition, your NOA1 would contain this number and nothing else smile.gif Moreover, if you would go here:

https://egov.uscis.g...is/Dashboard.do

and put this number in, you would notice that it is recongized by the system and that your status is "Initial Review". If you will read the text below, it would tell you when exactly your NOA1 was issued to you. This date you can safely put in the Timeline, as your NOA1 date and take a look at your petition forecasted review time smile.gif

Best of luck to you smile.gif

I did not notice anybody talking about this so far, but it looks like CSC starts to take a good example from VSC in terms of time it reserves to process I-129F petition. I closely monitored time Timeline suggests my petition is going to be reviewed, and starting from the very beginning (October 13 check was cashed and NOA1 was sent to me) and for good 2 weeks the forecast was rather negative. The review time was sliding far and far away from me and finally reached the middle of the February. However, then, something strange have happened with the statistic of CSC and it looks for me like number of workers, who are assigned to review K1 petitions, was at least doubled. At any rate, over the last week my Timeline forecasted review time got closer to me by more than month! It states now that it is going to be reviewed somewhere in between December 28th and January 9th. I also have a feeling that it is only beginning of the process and the forecast will improve in the future significantly. Hope that my observations are right and we all would really get our NOA2s much sooner than we hoped.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCouple of questions for I-134
Greetings guys. I have couple of questions about I-134 form.

1) When it says "If you are sponsoring more than one alien, you should submit a separate Form I-134 for each alien", does it mean that if I filling out this form for my fiancee(K1), I should fill out separate form for her 11-years old son (K2)? Or, this situation is exception and one form would be enough?

2) Question 7 of the form has this part in it "I have deposit in saving banks in the United States". What term "saving banks" mean? Does it cover only saving accounts person has, or checking accounts too?

3) Question 8 of the form states: "The following persons are dependent upon me for support: (Check the box in the appropriate column to indicate whether the person named is wholly o partially dependent upon your support)". Taking in account, that my 24-year old brother is listed in my 2009 tax declaration as my dependent, should I list him here as a dependent too?

Thanks in advance, guys. Your answers would be of huge help to me.

Congratulations once again Whtevr! :) Unfortunately, we are unable to share the latest experiences with obtaining US passports, since Sveta's application is still sitting on our table. Looks like we have too much stuff to do lately. However, I can share my (granted, a bit old ) experience. In the winter 2009-2010 I got my US passport in three weeks, exactly. This link confirms my recollections:

http://travel.state....sing-times.html

So, from what it says here, if you are going with "Expedited" process, you are looking at 3 weeks timeframe. Otherwise - 4-6 weeks.

Hope, it helps.

Once again, happy for you, guys! :)

OlegAndSveta,  do you mind sharing how long it took you to get your passport after the Oath and where you applied? We want to travel to Canada for Easter, wondering if we will have a change to get the passport so quick?

I will be doing this process again in a year and a half with my son who will be at the 5 year mark by then.  In the meantime I will keep browsing on Visa Journey and watching for updates.  Visa Journey was here for me and I plan on helping others if I can.

Hoping it all happens quickly for those of you still waiting and good luck at the interview!

Updating from Interview today

My husband and I were there 20 minutes before 8:10am Interview time and I went back at around 8:45am.  Very pleasant and welcoming officer.  He started with confirming my details, swearing in, etc. and then test for English language reading and writing, and then quickly went to 6 test questions.  Study it all!!  After that he worked through my Naturalization application a page at a time confirming details and I was shocked at the size of the now five inch folder that was all about me!!  While my husband was not able to go into the interview room with me, I do think it confirms your marriage for them to see you are a couple in person and the officer commented that he didn't need to go through as many details about our relationship for that reason.

I did explain to the officer my worries about Oath date as I would be travelling back to Canada again for a week in April as I have an 85 year old year old father with dementia in a nursing home.  Officer wrote my travel dates down and left the room to see what he could do.  I am very grateful that he came back with the invitation for me to  join this Saturday's group for Naturalization at the International Celebration Tale of Two Cities in Avondale and Goodyear.

So close to being finished with the process and very excited for Saturday!

Caro

Congratulations, Caro! You are so close now.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 - SEPTEMBER 2013 FILERS

So, it finally happened. :) Can hardly believe it myself... we sent I-129F in October of 2009, so taking in the account time to prepare it, it was exactly 4.5 years of journey. Honestly, I'm incredibly happy now. Finally, nobody can make decisions, affecting future of my family, but I and my family. That is SUCH a good feeling.

As per ceremony itself... I wasn't impressed. In my opinion, Chicago office could do much better job. First of all, it was over 130 people in the crowd, taking oath, at once. Imagine how long it took to let them in, register, sit them up in predefined order, then, latter, to give each of them certificates, etc. Whole thing took 2.5 hours from the moment we were scheduled to arrive until the moment we were out. But that all could be understood. The part which definitely ruined it both for me and Svetlana was a speech the branch manager of USCIS office gave. That was plain terrible. She gave a short, hardly 5 minutes speech, which she read from the paper, where she was emphasizing how great of the country compare to others USA is, what a unique opportunities new citizens would have, and how big of the favor US is making to them, allowing them onboard, and how grateful for the rest of the lives they should be. I'm not over-exaggerating it. That is exactly a twist she put on it. It sounded plain offensive, and I'm pretty sure it meant to sound this way. I'm very surprised by that, because 9 years ago, in Milwaukee, when I took my oath, I remember a man, giving long, thoughtful and truly moving speech (talking without paper), which was respectful, encouraging and cheerful. Nothing like a speech I heard today.

Now, on the practical side... they allow you to register to vote, after the certificates a handled, they allow guests into the room, and they allow you to make photos in the room where oath is given (but not anywhere else, and that is very strict). I guess, that is all.  I will not be leaving this forum, now, when my family's journey is over. So, let me know how is your progress, Whtevr. I still would be there.

Best of luck to you, and all of you, guys, who will read my message. And thanks for the help goes to all those numerous members of visajourney, who wrote the guides, I used, and who supported me along the way when road was bumpy. Thanks a lot!

OlegAndSveta

OlegAndSveta, let us know how your Oath ceremony went.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 - SEPTEMBER 2013 FILERS

You have a week if they update your online status and send you a text message/e-mail. I was told that sometimes they mail you the letter without updating your status online. Oh well, we have a lawyer that we are using so hopefully he can change it if we have to. If not, we will just have to come back early from our vacation. Gotta hate dealing with the USCIS!!! They make you wait for months if not years and you are supposed to stay home and wait for them to tell you what to do next.

Yeah, lawyer can help, if it would be really scheduled in the middle of your vacations. As per USCIS, yeah, it is really tough. That is why everybody is so excited about citizenship - it finally gets you off the hook, and lets you just live your life the way you want it. :)

Congrats!!

Wow, they only give you 2-3 days notice before the actual Oath date.. We are going on a 2 week vacation and I have a feeling we will get the letter right then. Great.. Does anyone know how the Oath rescheduling process goes in case we need to reschedule?

Yeah, I was surprised myself (good kind of surprise, though). Now, on the fair note, though, they left us enough of time to react: the text message arrived on 02/06, while ceremony was scheduled on 02/13, so there is a week between those two events. As per rescheduling, I guess, it is not easy, if you will be on vacations. See what USCIS says here: http://www.uscis.gov...tion-ceremonies

If you cannot attend your scheduled naturalization ceremony, return the notice, Form N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony, to your local USCIS office, along with a letter requesting a new date and explaining why you cannot attend the scheduled naturalization ceremony. Failing to appear more than once for your naturalization ceremony may lead to a denial of your application.

Sounds pretty harsh. But then again - after you will receive your text message, it looks like you will have at least a week to act on it.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 - SEPTEMBER 2013 FILERS

Congrats!! This gives me hope that I will see the same thing SOON smile.png

Thanks! Hope, you will hear some good news pretty soon too. Btw, I found this page:

https://egov.uscis.g...TimesDisplay.do

Where they post dates of N-400 Chicago office is currently working on. They update it just ones per month, around 15th, and it was last updated on January 21th. Currently it looks like this:

N-400 Application for Naturalization June 23, 2013

So, it looks like Chicago office is just way overloaded and behind the schedule. It can explain this extra wait, we both have.

Finally, got some progress on our side too. Just got text message and saw update on the uscis page:

On February 6, 2014, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Nothing on our end either sad.png

We called our laser yesterday and he said that he had a client that had an interview the same day as us and they have not heard anything yet either... So he said nothing we can do before the 120 day mark. So frustrating, we keep checking the online status 10 times a day and check the mail with such hope every day and nothing...

Yeah, same here, same here... but remember, they are starting to accept requests at 90 days mark, that is what they told me when I called.

Still no word from USCIS... and it was 43 days since Sveta passed her interview already. :( I have no idea what is going on. :(  How is it in your land, Whtevr? Looks like we are almost the last two left from Arizona Lockbox, with oath dates not yet scheduled (Carocaro didn't yet have interview, but has it scheduled).

Yes, looks like the number that I found on the receipt gets updated about 10 days before the other number.

Hmmm... not for me... for me the bottom number shows the last update from October 3rd (Initial Review status), and the top number shows the last update from the November 13th (Testing and Interview status). So, looks like for me the top number wins.

No, the receipt that they sent to you when you sent your N400 packet

It works and doesn't for me... Sveta found a number on the receipt, but it shows status as it was at the moment the letter was sent (Initial Review). It doesn't show the current status. Is it different in your case?

Look at the very bottom of the letter on the left side, under the USCIS Office Address.

The biometric appointment letter?

OlegAndSveta, did you try checking your online status with the $ sign number that wellmux was talking about? Maybe there is an update there?

That is a thing, I wasn't able to find this second different number. It looks like I have only one, with *, not with $.

Wow, this is true. I just checked my $ sign number and it was in deed showing that my application was scheduled for interview 7 days before the other number showed. But when you input the $ sign number, use * instead of the $ or it will show as invalid.

Thanks, wellmux!

Well, our case needs supervisor review so thats why it may be taking longer. I would contact them if I were you, it is NOT usual to wait for over a month for oath in Chicago as they schedule oath ceremonies a few times a week. Good luck!

So, I gave a call to the central USCIS office... no dice. They said, they reserve 120 days to complete N-400 application, since the interview moment (which I knew), and if in 90 days it still was no word, they start to accept requests. For us it translates into "wait until March 18th, then, if still nothing, make a request".
