K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat's income requirement when filed for fiancee?
QUOTE (Tristan Trung le @ Aug 24 2009, 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
does anybody know what's the income requirement when I live Houston Texas and want filed a fiancee case for my fiancee who live in Vietnam..I've reading the forum but dont know what's the income requirement..Thanks in advance

Check out this page for income requirements: http://www.apexvisa.us/poverty.html

Here is also the FAQ about difference requirements for Forms 134 and 864 at different stages:

"Should K-1 fiancé(e) visa applicants use the I-864 or the I-134?

Since fiancé(e)s are nonimmigrant visa applicants, they should use the I-134. They will need to submit an I-864 to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) when they adjust status to conditional immigrant in the United States after they are married.

Do the same income requirements apply to all immigrant visa applicants even if they use the I-134?

No. The 125 percent minimum income requirement, the most recent year's tax return and other requirements only apply when an I-864 is needed. Applicants using the I-134 will need to show that their sponsor's income is 100 percent of federal poverty guidelines as required under Section 212(a)(4) of the INA."

Good Luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Hurdle Question
The results of the sputum test can take from 2 to 3 months. In our case, it took almost 3 months when ChoRay forwarded the results to the Consulate. We're still waiting for decision on our visa...
Keep in contact with the Consulate when they get the results from the hospital. The hospital may contact your beneficiary too, but keep email/walk-in the Consulate to find out.
Be patient and hoping the best for you...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal Foreign Police Certificate:
Tommy, you only need one for VN...
Foreign police certificates are required if she lived outside VN for at least
one year since the age of 16. I thought I need one for Laos but by the time Hang's inteview they changed it. No longer required as noted in Package 4.

Ronnie&Hang...I see you on the forums...did you guys pick up your visa yet?

cavoi xanh1...haven't heard anything in a while...any updates??

PLEASE UPDATE! :)

Hello Linda...after over a month waiting for the visa with Hang in Saigon, I flew back home by myself..and again, it was a long flight. I went to the Info Window but the rude lady didn't seem to be much help. Then, the Consulate was off more than a week for President's holiday and Tet. I sent several emails also but no reply or even the usual auto responses.
But as far as I know, Hang's file is completed but I don't know when it will get the final review for the visa. More waiting...
That is the latest updates.

You should be getting that Visa any day now Ronnie!!!

Thanks Scott, Hang went in to turn in the timeline and was told to wait for approx. another month. They also took the blue sheet she used to get inside the Consulate, now Hang has to go to the Window for any inquiries. That is the latest update.
I will fly back to SG next week, stay until a week after Tet. Hopefully Hang will get her visa and fly back with me..that will be a shortest flight for me :)
I hope you are getting everything ready for Thuy's upcoming interview on26Jan. I will be in Hanoi for the wedding banquet on the 23Jan then fly back to Saigon. If you need help with anything, let me know...I wish you all the best of luck and many happy smiles soon...

Any day now for you Ronnie..

Yeah Scott, last night Hang just told me she called some specialist at ChoRay and was told that her medical results are done and being forwarded to the Consulate. Everything looks good as confirmed on her retest. Now, we will wait for a call from the Consulate..then a couple weeks Hang will come to turn in the timeline and inquire them for the results if we don't hear from them...That's is good news..of course not completely until I see that PINK smile.gif Wish me luck...

They will make it up to you and give an early Pink Li` Xi` for Tet. Good to hear you get the interview date..

VietnamI just saw a trailor of journey from the fall
I too can totally related to these 'seem-like-yesterday' memories. I was about that boy age when I sneaked out to the wooden boat at night and lost my favorite sandle (dep sapo as we called it) in the deep mud. I cried for hours until the hatch opened and we got to climb up topside, then I realized I've really left my family behind and cried some more. After 7 days drifted with barely any foods/water and attacked by the Thai pirates 3 times, the boat floated to the shore of Malaysia with half of the survivors. After "re-education" camp, my Dad escaped out also by boat. From times to times he told me stories about it and also that little 'window' on the rusted corrugated steel wall of his confinement cell. Oh man, how we're taking things for granted sometimes huh!? Thanks for reading and relating all...

At this point, I am a over the 4 months window and over 90 days in AP. The last word I heard, the case is still opened so they must have extended it. Thanks for validated that one, Scott!!

I don't think you made mistake by not sending the originals, but it might be that when you print those pics of front and back after you wrote all the info, there may be suspicion that you might edit something...just my opinion.
I heard of cases that people send in pictures printed on photo paper with label/captions and it was fine.

Just make a set of photocopy of those pics for your record and send in the originals...good luck!!!

VietnamMedical Exam
Try to plan for this early before the interview if you can to get the medical done..just in case any delays or additional tests. Book your flight tix one-way to SGN, when you finished then you can book the flight back to HAN. Let say if they have to collect sputum samples for TB (hope it will not be in your case), that will take three additional consecutive days...so plan for it and plan to get the medical much earlier than just days before the interview.

Besides the interview letter, the yellow immunization paper, and original passport, you will also need $100usd and a couple passport photos. If you go to ChoRay, be there early in the morning and they will let you do walk-in.

Good job Thuy..way to go!!! I said it would work..all you need is lots of patience, persistence and some plea/persuasion will definitely go a long way...hehe. Sometimes no 'hoi lo' is even needed. I can understanding the amount of people they dealt with day day out. They have to do that to keep things in order, but deep down they are compasionate people too..Good to hear that Scott!!

Wow, when exactly is this celebration? I will be in Hanoi from Mid October until 2nd week of November. My wife will be taking her son to Saigon for his interview at the end of October. Maybe her mother should be booking her flights now due to the celebration.

I am happy for Hanoi, but the traffic is way too heavy to begin with. I am starting to worry now.

The festivities will start at the begining of October to around mid-month..you should see some of it, maybe the traffic will be not as congested by then...

How long is the Visa's expiration in HCMC???
Generally, the typical visa is issued with 6 months expiration, but I also heard that for those cases that are in AP for awhile..the issued visa is only good for 1 month. Can someone confirm this? Thanks much..

Vietnamanother interview passed!!

The interview notification was a very short notice (~14 days). The medical examination appointment was scheduled with 3 weeks lead time. (Certain area) Police certification processing had 2-3 weeks lead time. This time delay should be noted by upcoming interview candidates.

There were many interview candidates in this situation.

Congratz on getting closer there F&P!!!
I am waiting for another interview too..requested to have it soon..very soon in fact, since the Medical is coming up for expiration in a couple months. We don't want to go through another prolonged Medical again..I hope we will get a short notice for an interview just like you..
