Did they ask you for the petitioner's birth certificate?if so it's a photocopy ok or has to be original?

They do, and at my interview they ended no taking it, because there was a copy on the file they own, but you should take at least a certified copy.

Thanks once again sandraperry :)

How come it shows as A (obtain and produce at interview) instead of O (Already verified at NVC and submitted to embassy) against Birth certificate and marriage certificate, as I have already submitted originals to NVC. Does it mean they have lost it or something?

I just had 1 original for both of them which was couriered to them. Now I am just left with photocopies of both of them.

Anything that I should be doing from my end? Please guide.

Good question!

But that is the main reason why you should Always get copies of everything you send to them.

But at interview they asked me for it again, Even though I also provided them on different occasions during this process.

 Thank you sandraperry

This is what was mentioned in the checklist before i received interview letter:

Forms missing or incomplete
[x] If you have returned your original form to us, these are the items that are still incorrect or missing. If you
need another form, please goto http://Travel.state..../visa_4354.html to download a new form and
complete instructions.
Part 5 Sponsor's Income and Employment
[x] __XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX_'s income indicated on the I-864EZ Part 19 does not correspond to that
shown on the most recent tax return and W-2(s).

Final list of documents for AOS that I am taking :
- Form I864
- W2 form
- Extension for filling tax for last year

- Copy of letter stating why we did not file tax last year

? copy of housing lease agreement

- Income tax return for financial year 2011 and 2012

- Last 2 months pay stub

Is it sufficient or am I missing out on something?

*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
One more query on similar lines :

The document list in my interview letter goes as follows:

CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS C
1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 R  (where can I get it from ?)
1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 R (where can I get it from?)
2 - PASSPORT A
3 - BIRTH CERTIFICATE A (I have already submitted the original to NVC...what should I carry now for interview?)
4 - ADOPTION F
5 - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE A (I have already submitted the original to NVC...what should I carry now for interview?)
6 - MARRIAGE TERMINATION F
7 - COURT RECORDS F
F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE I
9 - MILITARY RECORDS F
10 - INDIA POLICE CERTIFICATE F
FEE PAYMENT $
PHOTOGRAPH A
F - PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE F
F - PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE F
10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE A

Please guide me for point no. 1, 3 and 5.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions and help....!! God bless :)

So apparently you got check-listed for the I-864EZ  then you will need to do a new one and pay attention for the part 19 of the form because that was the mistake.

Second:

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 R   And  1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 R  is the DS-260, you will have to print the bar-coded sheet that says you filled it (you may print it all if you wish). https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

3 - BIRTH CERTIFICATE A  and 5 - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE A  it doesn't matter if you already send it to them, you'll need to have an original or a certified copy at the interview.

And the police certificates or military certificates are very important.

Thank you.

My biggest fear was AOS checklist. I filled it out  different that what was advised by Saylin, just followed my gut feeling because it made sense. :D

This is the worst waiting of all. I have zero patience left in me. I just want it done since it is the end!

Actually, I feel like the worse waiting is now! I already have a date settle to travel to US, but time seems to be taking forever to pass. Less than 3 weeks, :clock:  but why is it taking soooo long to pass.

I asked in NVC filers but might as well ask here because everyone is already through the NVC here.

Do  they CC as soon as they review IV package if that's the only package(AOS approved, 261,260 also approved) left to be reviewed?

If all is good, probably. I got check-listed, twice due to AOS , even got checklisted for the interview. But all went good, hope all goes smooth for you.

Oh thank goodness!!! Thanks for the update!

It still says "Ready" since the 22nd, which is the last date that it was accessed (interview date). Now we wait... Some more.
The girl who interviewed us did it all in English. Really young looking however.

I believe the Co you guys are referring was mine too, she did it all in English with me too.

I wonder about the Portuguese that do not  speak English or French would the Portuguese lady had to translate?

Thanks a lot! You received your visa pretty quickly! You must be so relieved! Now it's time to pack ;-)

Yeah but the brown package got torn and now the embassy told me I'll need to go to Lisbon to get it resealed. (I sent them pictures and they actually wanted me to go to Lisbon after the date of my trip, or travel again to Paris :ranting: . But i talked with Lisbon and they got me an early appointment).

Hope you get yours quickly too.

VISA APPROVED!
It took 2 hours, everyone was friendly. I got really worried when they told me I might have to come back in a week because there was a computer system problem and that they couldn't access my ds260... right before she was going to give up, it got unlocked!
I'll write a review of the embassy.

PS: when the PO told me congrats and that we were approved, I just left. I had nothing to sign before leaving right? I got so surprised the interview itself took only 3 minutes I was confused and just left without asking...

Don't worry, you did not need to do anything. And CONGRATS!

I am checking with all of the people on this post who have had their interviews but are now waiting to get their passport back with the immigrant visa.

(...)

As of now, my CEAC case status still shows "ready", so I got worried.

(...)

Therefore they are building a backlog and the usual 7 day delay between interview and reception of the passport is now lengthening to 2 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this delay?

Once again, CONGRATS!

About the Visa, I believe above all I got lucky, as my visa was issued the 18th and mailed the 22nd arriving today.

Before all this computer problems started http://bigstory.ap.o...visa-operations

But there is one thing, because they made us take off the sponge protection of the return envelope, the brown envelope that we are not suppose to open it is torn, kind of badly.

Is that going to be a problem?

Plus, my husband just change his address, rented a new home for us, how do we communicate that: send e-mail to uscis? At the POE?

sandraperryFemalePortugal2014-07-24 10:29:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2014 Interviews

Do I check on CEAC to see if it changes from Ready for Interview to Administrative Processing to Issued? We had the interview yesterday and it still says Ready for Interview. I know I should just chill but I really wanted my husband to leave with me next week. However, realistically I don't think it'll happen.

You should, because mine was on the 17th, on the morning of the 18th it was Administrative Processing and on the late afternoon it was Issued.

Just have a look at it, and when i get my passport i'll tell you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2014 Interviews

Hello, still tired from all the emotions from yesterday, but I have a weird felling going on, maybe do to my pessimist side.

My interview was yesterday, and I had ups and downs. being the downs the actual interview with the CO.

Maybe because I was the first in line for the IV visa, she stayed with me some good 10-15 min. She bombarded me with questions that she wouldn't allow me to finish, to ask another question. for the first time someone actually made me feel bad about mine and my husbands age gap. I am about 7 years older than my husband, a common age gap if the man is older than the woman. But apparently it was some kind of problem, she actually stopped looked at me and was like so he was 21 when you met RIGHT! I felt like a pedophile or something :(

And in the wend she was even asking where the ring was bought and why we decided to marry in the USA: i was actually telling her we were to get married in Portugal, but when we asked the american embassy in Lisbon told us it would be easier to get married in Gibraltar, we opt for the US.(I think she didn't like that, but was the truth) And then she was like, you haven't seen your husband for a year, i said yeah but I was suppose to go there for Christmas, but the Embassy in Paris (your place of work) told me I could be considered a liability due to the IV process and not let go in, because My husband was working and could not let his job to come visit.(another point I believe she did not like, at least by her face). (in the end I wanted to scream at her, YES I HAVEN?T SEEN MY HUSBAND FOR A YEAR I WONDER WHO?S FAULT IS THAT!!!!!)

Then out of the bloom while I was speaking, she was looking at the some of our pictures, she said, OK.

You are approved, congratulations, blah blah blah...(I did not hear anything past the approved)

In my mind I had the feeling things were going so bad, that The Approved sound like something Bad.

Just went to CEAC and I am in administrative processing, that is good right? I am not going to be screwed right?

Please help me!!!

He had his interview today at 8am, he got there at 7:20, make sure you bring the DS 260 confirmation page in addition to everything else. He got his number, and they called him to the first window within 15mins. At the first window, the teller went through all of his file that the NVC sent. After the teller completed this, he told my husband to wait to be called again for the second window/interview. 10mins later they called his number again, this time the officer asked my husband questions regarding out marriage, what my occupation was and his occupation, asked about our child, and then the officer made my husband take an oath, and then he told my husband he was approved. Overall, it was a smooth process. We are now just waiting in his passport and sealed packet to arrive in the courier service, as soon as it arrives, we r booking his flight.

CONGRATS!

I had my interview today in the Paris Embassy (I am IR-5, with my daughter being the petitioner). My wife's appointment is not until Aug 7.

Here are the highlights, but I should really say the lowlights:

(...)  I could not complete the interview, I had to cancel my flight home tonight, stay overnight in Paris, in hope that their system will be working tomorrow.

I hope all goes well today!

The bad thing about this is that you will have to spend even more money.

WOW!!!

Interview Date:  July 1st

VISA IN HAND:  8:45 a.m. on July 3rd!!!!

Hooray for Australian Express Post and the Sydney Consulate!!!

WOW!!!

VISA APPROVED!!!

She just msgd me and I called her, she said interview was like 5 min long and they didnt see anything of extra evidence. I'll write visa review after I get full details.   They did check the original documents since we didnt send originals of marriage certificate and birht certificate (russia only needs copy as long as u take original to interview since you cant get more than 1 original copy...russians :P )

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm going to write a full report of our experience on the embassy review page.  One thing I should mention is they asked us for the confirmation page that DS-260 was filled out online.  Also, the question that says "are you immigrating to the USA with your spouse?"  I put "no" since people on here said I wasn't immigrating, just moving.  Which made sense.  But the interview guy said it was wrong and changed it to "yes" saying I would move with my husband after visa approval.

Anyways, we're going to our favorite restaurant today to celebrate!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! :goofy:  :goofy:  (L)  (L)

Also, I've been singing this song.  Listen to the lyrics, it's perfect!

Okay so you've sent in the petitions? That's it?

Yes, the petitions have been sent. And Nathan has already gotten the notification by letter that the petitions got in on the 15th of April. So technically they are analyzing our process. Haven't got any RFE yet (hope never will).

And yes, my timeline is updated, unfortunately we will be celebrating our first anniversary apart from each other cray5ol.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlanning to spend Holidays with my husband in the US, What should I do?

I am also in this situation, my husbands I 130 is processing, but I was thinking if he could still apply for something to come here to US for like the Holidays

Hi, i received an answer from the embassy:

"Dear Madam,

If you are going to the US for a short period of time, the ESTA is appropriate.

Probably, there at the Port of Entry, the Immigration Officer will ask you why are you entering as non immigrant if you are in the middle of immigrant visa process.

Best regards,

Secção de Vistos/ The Visa Section

Emb. dos Estados Unidos em Lisboa/ U.S. Embassy Lisbon"

I don't know if this applies to your husband also Nanasa. So Now i'll just have to convince the immigration officer that i just want to spent the holidays, nothing else.

Because my husband spent Easter with us, here in Portugal, we were thinking about me travel there, to the US, for the holidays and for the wedding of one of my brother-in-laws (i already missed one wedding).

But as we have the I-130 going on, since April, what should i do? Should i request some kind of special non immigrant visa and the american embassy? Or just go with the ESTA (tourist visa)?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInformation about sponsor

While we are waiting for the I 130 approval, I (to keep me from climbing the walls) have been looking at the next step after approval and what we will need to prepare.

On the guidelines I saw that if we got a sponsor, he/she would need to file papers too.

So why would we need a sponsor? In what circumstances it is required?

Can you have more than one?

Can a brother and/or a sister-in-law be a sponsor?

Even if not needed, should we have at least one sponsor? Can we have more than one?

Thank you in advance for your replies, sorry if i sound dumb. I just really want to understand this process.

sandraperryFemalePortugal2014-07-28 06:15:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExactly how long does the entire CR-1 process take?

Okay! Another question!

Will I need a DNA paternity test to prove the beneficiary (my husband) is actually the father?  And if the USCIS doesn't require this, is it still wise to get one?

Sadly, after reading other cases, (from other countries) it looks like USCIS doesn't give much consideration to children or unborn children or families needing to be together or wives needing their husbands to help and support them.  So that's nice.  I couldn't find any Ecuador specific related queries or stories regarding pregnant petitioners or prenatal DNA testing.

Also, related to this topic. Since I have been living in Ecuador, I no longer have insurance or a job in the US.  Upon my return to the US, I will get a job as soon as possible (shouldn't be a problem) but I will also have to apply for my state's government program to help with the medical expenses of pregnancy.  Will this look bad for the visa?  That I am using government funded assistance?  (Ha, ha, the sooner they can get my husband to the US to help me, the sooner I can off of it!)   When they run background checks, will this show up?  Do they care?

Thanks in advance!
