I can fix your problem but this is a computer problem.

I was able to save all of my forums by using the program Adobe Acrobat. That is a fantastic program if you are doing a lot of PDF files.

Before I can help, I need to know what was the error message it gave you. The reason why it erased your data is because either you didn't save or it was a PDF file that didn't allow saves
you are only allowed to enter the data and then print it as many times as you want. I have ran into those PDFs before.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDON'T FORGET YOUR TAX TRANSCRIPT!
I provided

2009, 2010 and 2011 of the Official IRS Form 1040 for both the Sponsor and Joint Sponsor with no Tax Transcripts.

I also provided:

VA Award Letter for both Sponsor and Joint Sponsor

W-2s for 2011 and 1099-R (Military Retirement) for Joint Sponsor.

Would that be plenty of evidence for them?

I actually made everything CAPS on my paperwork except for the things that are always lowercase or case sensitive like E-mail address.

Me personally, if i had to look at a lot of paperwork then I would like everything to have an SOP. If you are going to use CAPS on this and that, you might as well do it on ever field.

Look at it this way.. would you put "babysitter" if she babysits once in a while? Or "grass mower"? I personally wouldn't but that's me. It would be ridiculous listing any time someone's given me money for doing a small task for them.

They don't really care about what she does. If you want to be safe put "self-employed" and explain but then we'd all be self-employed if you think about the above examples.

I love the ones who exacggerate on their forms...

Babysits ---> Glorified Child Day Center

Grass Mower ----> Landscaper

Homemaker ---> Gourmet Chef

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresaffidavit of support

Wow, that "bestplaces" website is kind of fun to look at in a horrifying way. I can see that unemployment is double the national average in my area. I think they are counting condos as houses too, so the medians are higher if you want a stand-alone house.

Original poster: start reading up on "personal finance" --- you'll want to work up a budget so that you have money to pay for your immigrations fees when you have them

One of your first goals should be to have a bit of savings. Experts commonly say you should have savings of 3-6 months of "monthly expenses". To be able to do that, you will need to know where the household money goes.

Good luck!

The bad thing about this too is if you live in a military town where I live. It is actually very cheap if you don't live around the base. If you live about 20 min outside of the base you can get a house with 5 acres of land and pay 600 a month.

As you keep getting closer to the base, an apartment down from where I live costs 1,100 for a 2 bedroom. It is an apartment with a small kitchen and family room. They take advantage of the military because they get the extra money for housing. It is just sad how people take advantage of people.

The cost of living for house here when it comes to expenses is about 750 but then the apartments run 1200 so you are dipping into your paycheck big time. Then lets not forget about electricity, water, trash, and food.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresaffidavit of support

thank you so much! is it okay to include house even its not fully paid yet?

Oh Yeah!
That is why people buy houses because it is an asset and it one of the biggest things to use as collateral.

My aunt bought her 1 story 4 bedroom house for 88,000 in 2006 and now it is up to 156,000 present. That means it is a big asset.

She has $68,000 she can use as an asset.

You can use http://www.zillow.com and you can see how much the house was bought for and what it is worth now to figure your figures.

i tried to look at it compared to the places you posted here its lower than the rest of america so i dont know maybe thats okay even its not that much like you say he is living in OH. thank you. he doesn't have savings at all unfortunately it all goes to bills, house, etc.

The Cost of Living Website was just to tell you how big of a difference cost of living can be in the United States.

I would still ask your fiancee if she can open up his financial books to you so that way you can plan the food, house bills, and everything.

if you go on zillow.com just enter in his address and you can see a round about of how much he pays for his housing.

Then take into consideration of the electricity, water, trash services, cable, internet.

You can also use assets. He can use his house as an asset and it is one of the questions on the affidavit forums.

If you still think that you are cutting it close, you can always find a joint sponsor. Better to be safe than sorry.

And good job looking out for your man. Every little helps when it comes to the immigration paperwork.

I was stressed out for days doing all the paperwork for mines. I was doing all of it to make it as easy as possible for my fiancee.

It is bad enough that she is leaving her family and country, I didn't want to add insult to injury because she has 50 pages to do.

28,000-31,000 and he is living alone but no bank account.

Yes, that isn't very much at all and it really depends on where you live too.
For instance:

That is the website that will show you cost of living. Just enter the city where your fiacee lives to help determine everything. That is just something you have to look at.
Just like Philippines, it is cheaper to live in Cavite than living in Makati

hello again the 18+ as income that is not deducted yet the sss and all the medical?just the total income your earning every year?

Yes,
It will be the GROSS of his income. Before anything is taken out. Taxes, Medicare, Money to Support Obama's Personal Trips, Republican's New Ride, "The Man's Healthcare Program"
whatever they take out of his paychecks is irrelevant. Only what he makes total year.

The US Embassy is fully aware of what is taken out of taxes so they took that into consideration when setting up the I-184P. They just made it easier for everyone.

Imagine if someone had to go through all their deductions for the month to figure out if they made the cut?? Lots of people have a hard time doing a 1040EZ alone...
so they just make it easier.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Affidavit of Support

Hello everyone.. I know some of you guys has gone through the interview process. For those who had worked on their affidavit of support. Kindly provide me some requirements I need to prepare for her Affidavit of Support. My employer has provided me a Letter of Employment with a base salary of 70k per year. Also, I don't have any tax transcript for year 2009, 2010 but I do have the 1040 Filing with W-2 for year 2010. Plus 3 recent Pay Stubs. Would this be enough supporting documents for my affidavit of support??? Please need your help..

Tax Transcripts:

You can call the IRS and actually doing it over the phone without using a "REAL HUMAN" by just typing in your social security number and your house digits, then the tax year you would like for them to send.

Number for IRS:
Telephone Assistance for Individuals:
Toll-Free, 1-800-829-1040
<br style="font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 14px; ">Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. your local time (Alaska & Hawaii follow Pacific Time).

For instance: if your social security was: 123-456-7890; then your house would be 12234 This way Road, then you would type:

1234567890 , then 12234, then the tax year. They said it would take around 7-10 days. You can order up to 7 or 8 tax transcripts at one time.

Letter of Employment:
Make sure that it is signed and it has the letter head of the company on it.

Pay Stubs:
They say 3-5 if you can provide it

Bank Statements:
Around 3 months of bank statements showing consistent deposits.

Note:
It use to be that you had to support up to three years of taxes for the affidavit, but laws have changed and they require one year, one good year which will include your W-2s, 1099-R, Maybe your tax record for your house showing you own a house, which would be considered assets.
Also, if you have cars maybe include the taxes for your cars since those are assets too.

70K, is plenty of money for a few people. You might have issues migrating half the country over with that but 70K is way over poverty line.

If you want to double check please go here:
http://www.uscis.gov...form/I-864p.pdf

make sure you double check your states because it is different when it comes to the 48 states and then there is alaska and hawaii

Another thing that may be causing the problem is that your using an extension of Adobe Reader inside of a browser. If you can download the blank fillable PDF file and use the actual "Adobe Reader" program to fill out the form then you will not have so many issues.

Try to avoid filling out documents within inside the browser.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 packet presentation?
We call them plastic sleeves for A4 type of paper.

I divided up my binder, I also added extra stuff "JUST IN CASE"

I know that it seems like a lot but there are things you must take into consideration.

I had a joint sponsor so that was double the Affidavit paperwork and evidence
and my fiancee is from the Philippines so she requires other things.

It came out to 4.9lbs when I sent through DHL, cost 142 dollars send from NC to Manila Philippines. It left my house Monday and got there Thursday Morning Philippine time. So, Wednesday Night my time. Not to bad of a delivery schedule. Only sent paperwork so it would not be held up in customs.;\
I know that this may seem like a lot of paperwork, but in my eyes, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Also if your fiancee is good with paperwork. You can always have them fill it out on their end. There are so papers that need original signatures like I-134, G325A, Intent to Marry, and Divorce Decrees if you have any. I wanted to do it here and organize it here. She has a busy life in manila. So didn't want to stress her anymore than she already was.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyers..Worth it? Issues with them...

I agree! The search engine could use some tuning. I usually dredge up content from 2006 in some of my searches, and the search returns are presented by relevancy vs. chronologically.

I did consider time sensitivity with this topic before telling him to search. The topic of "Use a lawyer or not" is one of those golden nuggets that stays the same throughout the years!

By the way, thanks for discussing this in a civil manner. It's nice to disagree politely on a topic without injecting big egos, and then finding ourselves on mostly common ground in the end. (Thanks Dr Phil!)

It is better to use constructive criticism when talking to people. Everyone has ideas; ones are better than others, but it doesn't mean you have to be condescending. You get more answers when you are polite and are civil about it. If only, the republicans and democratics can see it the same way LOL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyers..Worth it? Issues with them...

Perhaps you have a point, but does it matter if they personally receive a response, or merely an accurate answer to their question? My point is that the search could be used to uncover a wealth of information contributed over the years, and written by some of our more experienced members. When just posting a question you are at the mercy of whomever is online at the time, and the information is spotty at best depending on the time of day.

There are other reasons too of course, its just good forum etiquette to make a search first. I realize that some topics are very unique and/or dont lend themselves to an easy search, but a simple search for "lawyer assistance" or "attorney assistance" returns a truckload of info (try it).
Heck, searching for 'attorney sucks' or 'bottom of the ocean' would even do it !

You have to take into consideration that everything changes over time.

If a previous similar post has no been touched for weeks, months even most people will not be able to find it
or will not want to look at it since most of the data is outdated.

Yes, it is true that you can use the Google search but everything is outdated.

I have more of a secured feeling when I start the post and then everyone jumps in and you know for a fact that everything is almost up to the minuet updated.

I think putting in meta-tags like date, type, ect. will help out the search functions, but for the time being you can never go wrong with a fresh start.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyers..Worth it? Issues with them...

Actually immigration law is not as lucrative as most think. The competition comes from all over the country (world?) via the internet, so you would not just be fighting the local guys for business. Also the payoffs are small. Yes $1500 is a lot to you and I, but it takes LOTS of $1500 clients to pay the bills at the end of the month. Have a few slow months and the rent, utilities, and legal assistants don't get paid. There is generally no big court payout to ride them through the slow times, and they depend on quantity over quality. Some of the more lucrative immigration attorneys get through by finding a niche (a particular country or language of expertise), or have mastered their marketing skills via Facebook, blogs. etc to get their name out to potential clients.

I guess you are right. As a side job it wouldn't be so bad. It is actually pretty fun if you think about it. The only hard part starting out is getting people to trust you.
Giving them your personal background and credentials is a no no. I look at it this way. Even the bigger companies screw up.

I have seen many of companies like military, steam, ect. to loose credit card information because someone hacked their systems.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyers..Worth it? Issues with them...

You mean so a "paralegal (if that) can look it over (for $1500)"

Something like that LOL

I was just thinking. How much work I had to put in gathering the files. I had to do everything because they were important documents. Birth Certificates, Passports, ect. The lawyer has no control over there.

Thinking about it. I put everything in a folder, send it to him and then he says okay thank you for the 1500 dollars and sends it off to NVC.

If it is just a simple K-1. You can cut out a middle man and save 1500 dollars.

And here they want us to take lawyers seriously and trust them; Here they are ripping people off left and right.

I need to get into the business of immigration. I'll be making some big bucks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration Lawyers..Worth it? Issues with them...
Well I am at the medical and Interview portion of the K-1. I have put together two packets for my fiancee visa so far.

I have came to the conclusion that anyone with common sense and data entry skills on a PDF file can file a simple K-1.

I was just wondering how many people went through a lawyer. Then, at the end hit their heads and said I can't believe I spent this much money
on something I could have done.

When I first wanted to do the K-1, I tried to go through Visa pro until they told me it was 1300, then you have the additional K-1 feels along with it.

It seems that when doing my K-1. I had to do most of the work, like 90% of it and then send it off to a lawyer so they can look over it, put it in the envelope and send it off.

The lawyer can't get your photos, fill out your 129F, evidence and Affidavit of support so it just seems he is doing very very little for 1500 dollars.

I know that people have hired immigration lawyers for bigger projects. One that had a very complex case, but what about the ones who hired a lawyer just for a simple K-1?

Did they know what they were doing? Did they take long to respond? Did they do their job to the fullest? I mean was it really worth the money you payed them compared to doing it yourself?

It is tax time and usually you get your W-2s at the end of January. But everyone in the states is case by case on their taxes.

It is mandatory to have your taxes done by April 17th unless you file for an extension.

If you have done your taxes for 2011 then you can send those, but if you have not then the US embassy will still accept the 2010 because we have not passed April 17th.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresScheduling a K1 & K2 Appointment Online
If you are unfamiliar with the scheduling system and don't want to make mistakes then i think you should call the embassy so that you know its a sure thing.

It is kind of hard to do a simulation of how to do it step by step without actually having a fresh number to work with.

I scheduled my fiancee through the internet using her passport number. I think the us embassy considered that the receipt number.

Being that you have K1 and K2 applicant. Maybe someone over the phone can help you do a double booking. It would only make sense.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE, do they have to list all problems?
No the RFE will provide everything missing.

The USCIS is not the DMV, they did that to me and nothing I can do about it because they had all the power. Hate that!

When you have your divorce decree it is better if you have more than one copy. You will need one for USCIS and one for the interview.
I would suggest a few more for records and just in case projects. Problem is that it costs lots of money to get the official stamp but worth it in the end.

It is cheaper to order 2 at once than one then one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE hardcopy arrived today!

Laugh out loud. They give you a standard 21 days entrance when you arrive. I'd like to know how much money came out of your butt as they are mighty hungry to get cash from people. Thanks for the warning but I've been to Manila twice and I know the routines now. On my second trip, The Marriott met me at the airport and offered to take me but they wanted to charge me 1,700 peso for a Limo, I said no. Then they said we will take you in a car to the hotel for 700 peso... (SHOULDN'T THIS BE FREE ANYWAY FOR $ 200 A NIGHT ??) I walked away saying "any cabbie here will take me for 200 pesos!!!" I walkled over to a cab driver and he took me there for 70 peso's ($ 1.66). I was so happy I tipped him 230 peso's ($ 5.50). I have to fly into Manila everytime I go. It's $ 1,000 cheaper for me to fly to Manila and not Cebu but I just got back from Bohol and Cebu. Cebu airport is nice but Cebu itself is fast like Manila. Bohol is paradise if you stay on Panglo Island on Alona Beach. Stay at the Regents Park Hotel. I stayed at Amorita which is very nice but 4 times the prices as Regents Park. They just left a bad taste in your mouth for Manila. You have to be well read to go into a place like that. You just made a mistake. That's called a stupid tax. I've paid it but in other places for different reasons.

If I only stayed the 38 days, then it would only have to be the 4,000php give or take but because I stayed the 5 days over. 12,000php because I had to pay for the next stage plus an I-ARC card. With that card, I was able to open bank account and get a drivers license.

Oh, at the airport they tried to get me a few times. This was my 5th time there. If you leave the airport and head towards the street then you don't have to pay for one of those airport taxes which jack the price 4 times fold.

A friend met me there and was guiding me because I arrived 8pm. Wasn't good for me to be there by myself. As white as I am with luggage in hand. I was a target for most!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE hardcopy arrived today!

The form letters on here are perfectly fine. That is not the problem. Everybody uses those including me and I was approved. You made a mistake somewhere or the person reviewing your petittion made a mistake. We signed in black ink too (a mistake, you should use blue) but it went through just fine.

Everybody is new to this process and I have seen people claim they got denied or got an RFE for one reason or the other and it turns out to be something completely different. If you got an RFE, just take your time and return everything they are asking for but I can assure you the typed written letter like the one on VisaJourney has been used one thousand times and works just fine.

The Dominican Republic is a high fraud country and I think they really make sure you visit your fiancee a lot since it is so close to the US. I wish my fiancee was closer, I would visit her once every few months.

I would stay away from manila. don't ever over stay they will treat you like a criminal until you produce a lot of PHP to the Philippine Immigration.

The immigration knew I was staying 2 months at entry but never said anything to me about it, just let me through. I went to Philippine immigration and becuase of staying over 5 days, i had to get an I ACR and pay out the butt for 2 months.

Next time if I ever go back, I want to go to Bacolod, Iloilo, and Cebu... steer clear of Manila. Just so crazy there.

Since you were supposedto make an exact copy of what you sent. Just verify it with this.

1. Payment of $340 for I-129F (Money Order is best) True funds.

3. Form I-129F (original signature)

4. How you two met in person in the last two years. (see note below)

5. Original statements of letter of intent from the both of you; original signatures.

6. Front page of passport and send a legible copy of the passport stamp pages you have (petitioner only is needed)

7. G-325A for both of you, typed but signed and dated with blue or black ink. (you can put typed date, but signature has to be true)

8. Passport Photo placed in small plastic sandwichbag and stapled on the back of the G-325A.

9. Copy of Birth Certificate for US citizen

I don'tsee a G-325A in your list…

A typed date is fine as long as you have a signed signature.

Documents proving you have met in last two years:

Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotelreceipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), andother documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You maywant to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations onthe copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.

The following items will not typically show proof of having met in thelast two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies ofphone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can editpersonal info with a marker), letters (editpersonal info also), stamps on theletters (to document thedate they were sent), and otherwritten documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of eachtype. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can alsoinclude a copy of engagement ring receipt (thisis something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ringyet!)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello, important G-325A question employment history

Im going to ask her tomorow to fill out another g325a form and send it to me with the under the table jobs she had listed. And any others she can remember. She was worried about it to. But thanks now alot

Before she sends it to you. You should really look over it yourself.

It is expensive to keep sending documents back and forth if you have to keep changing since it hasn't been double checked.

I would have her fill out a G325A and then have her print it, and then scan it and send it to you, that way you can see if any corrections can be made.

If she uses the program Adobe Acrobat Pro 10, she can fill them out, and save them to a file and send it to you that way. So you can double check it.

Those G-325A needs to be near perfect , remember this is going to the government. Mistakes can be costly.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello, important G-325A question employment history
No... You tell the truth. You list exactly what she did or does.

The only way you need to prove the money is with your IRS 1040. It is illegal to do your taxes without letting the IRS know how much you made under the table. I have been doing taxes for over 8 years and I always see that question.
(It is illegal, but I am sure lots do not put it as income, because how would the IRS know how much you made in tips)
its a fine line there.

The only thing you have to prove is if you make 125% above the poverty line. There are a lot of people who are unemployed. They put unemployed.

If I hedge bushes for a good portion of my life then I would put landscaping.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPapers for interview.
that is so good. When I made the binder for my fiancee. I put each item in a plastic protective sleeve. First copy is the original with 2 copies behind it. I really hope they don't keep any of my originals. They are hard and expensive to get. Especially my birth certificate with the apostille attached to it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFew questions, regarding I-129F (newbie)

Hello everybody!!! My name is Mariya and I have few questions regarding the I-129F. I would really appreciate your help since I'm already freaking out =/

1. I want to help my fiance with the photos, so my idea is to do it on A4 paper (Word) - 3-4 photos per page with short description under them. Is that okay? Do they need to be printed as normal photos?
Also, (silly question) how do I "name" people? :D For example - a photo of my fiance and my dad - do we write "Me, Timothy ..... and the beneficiary's father" or just "Me and my fiancee father".. I know it's minor but it really threw me off.

P.S. How many photos is too much?

2. How do we separate the attachments? Is it okay if we separate them in folders, numbered - for example: "Attachment No.1 - Question 18". And then the statement followed by different proofs separated by years - "Attachments - 2010" etc. or we just put them all behind the statement in chronological order without separation?

3. G325 - Beneficiary - Do I list ALL my addresses - f.e. my 4 month addresses in the US? And if I do - do I write again my Bulgarian permanent address between all these or I just state its period and add the small gaps, while living in the US?
For example:
May 2010 - Sept 2010 - USA address
Oct 2010 - May 2011 - permanent address
May 2011 - Oct 2011 - USA address
Oct 2011 - present - permanent address

Yes/No? :D

4. If the petitioner was employed but with no contract and no taxes paid - does he list that job, or states unemployed?

5. We want to include a Birthday card from my fiance but the last two words are in Roman letters but a Bulgarian word. Do we need to translate this officially?! :D OR he can just say what it means? Or we say nothing at all?

Thank you in advance :) :*

For the G-325, List all your addresses from present to latest.... Just know this... the US government can pull up your residential history in a hear beat. So never lie...

If you have lived in more places than what the G-325 gives you space for, then you make an attachment.

make sure your addresses are dead accurate.

About the Photos,
I supplied 5-7 photos and on the back I wrote when and where those photo were taken.
Remember to save them because you will have to do it again for the US Visa Interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresComputer Help, PLEASE!!!

If they don't want my assistance remotely, that is fine. I am an IT Support person working for a reputeable company that is both U.S. and Worldwide. I am not a hacker and they can close the session down anytime. They can see what I do or I can just watch them to see where the problem is. Using Skype will not tell you what problem they are having, but watching them you can actually see and help them. Whatever decision they make, I will resepect. Just offiering my services.

Same here... The fastest and easiest program to use is Team Viewer. they can see everything that is being done and we can also voice chat video chat or even type within in the session. Amazing program.

http://www.teamviewer.com

Very secured too because you have to give the other guy connecting to your computer a user id and passport to connect and the password changes randomly each time you load the program up.

To the OP, there could be many issues that can cause the issue that you are having. So, if the above doesn't work with the printers and cache deleting then I would suggest some remote help.

Just an FYI State department do not support IE9 at this point. The latest supported version is IE7 and IE8 is still in testing. I work for them, so this is the latest is currently supported. However I did use IE9 to fill out this form and it worked. So a cache issue coould resolve it potentially.

Oh that is good to know. I am a potential network administrator. Now I know where to apply to have them catch up with the rest of the generation.

Thank you for informing us on the Version of IE.

I did mine through IE 9 as well. I had no problems with it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresComputer Help, PLEASE!!!

Not true. I save completed forms all the time with AR-X.

The form the OP trying to fill out is not a pdf, but rather an online form that has to be printed online. The form cannot be saved.

There has been a lot of issues with filling out PDF files within the browsers.

My apologies on the online form. Looks like the form was written in Java. I would check to see if you have the most updated version of java on the computer.

http://www.java.com/...nload/index.jsp

also, make sure you have the most updated browser of IE

Current Version is 9.0.4 also update the browser before updating the java so java knows which version to download for you.

Another thing you may want to try is clear the cache on your computer as well.

Step one: Check to see if you have the updated Internet Browser
Step two: Check to see if your java is up to date.
Step three: Open up IE, click on the gears at the top right, click on Internet Options, under browsing history, click delete everything just to be on the safe side.
Step four: restart IE

The best thing to do is use the true program for PDF, not use the browser extensions.

When you come up to a link that has PDF at the end, you need to right click and SAVE AS

save the whole PDF file to your computer (desktop or downloads folder) and open it in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat (if you have it)

If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro, you can save PDFs, with just the Adobe Reader, you can fill them out and print them, but no saving them

Start all over each time you do it.

Do not open the PDF file within the browser.
