I received my amended passport today, however, the date of our marriage and husband's middle name (that they wrote on the page) are both incorrect. Should i worry about it?
And is it normal that they include my middle name on the amendment.
My permanent resident card and all ID: Maria V. Smith
Amended passport: Maria Valderama Quizon Smith

Note: Valderama is my mother's maiden name.

What name am i going to use in purchasing my plane ticket?

Your reply is highly appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Purchase plane ticket with your name that will match into your passport or else you cannot enter into the boarding pass! base on my experienced

hope it helps!

Thanks arch & cel. If you don't mind my asking, does your passport name match with your green card? Could you please tell me what happen? Thanks.

Thank you very much,

I think i saw the problem in your amended passport.

If you would follow the philippines rule in your married name, it should be: Maria Quizon Smith. Since you followed the USA rule, your name now is Maria Valderama Smith.

When you requested the amendment of your passport, normally, they would follow the philippines rule. Your name should be Maria Quizon Smith in the amended passport. Then you would request for a paper that (the name in your green card) Maria Valderama Smith and Maria Quizon Smith are one and the same person.

With your present scenario, i think, the people from the philippine consulate just treated your valderama as your second name and still put your last maiden name following the philippine rule wherein the maiden last name becomes the middle name once married. Thus you have the name: Maria (First Name) Valdera (Mother's Maiden Name) Quizon (maiden last name) Smith (married name)

Just my opinion. I guess you have to talk with the philippines consulate.

I hope i did not confuse you. smile.gif

Thanks reahnick! Honestly, I even put the name what I want to be on my amended passport when I submitted the form. I don't know why did not follow it. As you mentioned, they follow what is the philippine rule. Thanks for taking the time to reply on my inquiry. I really do appreciate it. Well.. I guess I have to book the ticket that will match on my passport and bring my MC with me just incase they need additional info.
Godbless!

Thank you very much,

My driver license is under my married name and my passport is under my maiden name. This is my simple rule:
- Dometic flights (anywhere within US): I use my married name since i could use my driver license for identification
- International flight : I use my maiden name since my passport is still in my maiden name and i have no plan to amend it.

Thank you for your reply rheanick. I just seen on the news (took effect July, i think) that plane tickets should match on your passport name. I am confused because the phil.consulate added my last name "quizon" on it. My green card doesn't have that name. The reason why i amend my passport is to match it with my green card.

Thanks,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is up with the California Service Center?

How accurate do you think these dates are? I noticed that they are moving backwards as well. It will take us 2 weeks to get a fiance visa if I moved to the UK, what the hell is the hold-up? This is a sick & twisted joke someone is playing on us toying with our lives like this.

I hear ya! It would take me showing up the local police office in Morocco to get residency status... suddenly that is starting to seem more and more appealing.............

Why is this? Your I-129F was received on 8/1/06 and was touched on 8/17/06. My I-129F was received by CSC on 7/18/06 and still has not been touched.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is up with the California Service Center?
My I-129F was received by Nebraska on July 18th. On July 21st, , it was at the California service Center. On July 21st, the California Service Center was processing I-129F's dated March 5th. On August 3rd, they were processing I-129F's dated March 6th. On August 25th, (now they have posted it also for August 28th), they were processing I-129F's dated February 23rd. Why are they going backwards on their processing dates. At the rate they are going, it will take at least a year before getting to my date of July 21st.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInfo Please
CSC received my I-129F papers on July 21st. (So far no touch). I am planning to go to the Philippines to visit my fiancee over the Holidays. I am leaving here on November 3rd and arriving in the Philippines on November 5th. I am planning to stay there for 6 months. I don't expect my I-129F petition to be approved for quite some time. I would like to know if anyone has ever went over to the Philippines and had their I-129F petition approved while they were over there. If so, will I have to come back to the states for anything prior to her interview? Such as the original approval notice the CSC will send, ( I have a lawyer representing me in California.), or will the CSC send the original over to the Manila Embassy in the Philippines, or will the attorney send it over to the Manila Embassy to start my fiancee's Visa? What will I have to provide her for her interview? The reason I am asking this here instead of asking my attorney is I don't think he is handling my case very well. Thanks for any help anyone can give me concerning this matter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I?
I was wondering if anyone had sent their I-129F petition in to CSC and then went over to the Philippines to wait for it's approval. I am planning to go to the Philippines on November 5th and stay until April 22nd, 2007, (maybe longer). Hopefully I can be there to help my fiancee with her preparation for her interview. If my I-129F gets approved while I am over there, do I have to come back to the states for anything concerning my fiancee's interview? I submitted my I-129F and CSC received it July 18th. I am taking copies of everything I submitted with my application over to the Philippines with me. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFor those just received their NOA2 from CSC (in September, at least)

Hi guys!

And above all: Congratulations! (F)

I wonder after receiving their e-mails//post mails approving their cases if those people got their "status updated" on USCIS site... ;)

Thanks and good vibes from Brazil to all!
They will be with your love by their side before than you think guys!

Yes, I was approved 9/18 and had status updates on 9/18 and 9/19.

I checked my site before going to bed on the 18th and there were no touches or anything, but when I went online on the 19th, I had 2 notices that I had been approved. CSC received my petition on the 18th of July, 2006.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about TOUCHES

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused because I received another update on my case, this one dated 09/17/06 (Sunday). I was touched 9/14, 9/15 (also got a RFE mailed out to me), and another touch 9/17. Is it possible for them to work on Sundays (I really don't think so). I'm guessing maybe it has something to do with the RFE, maybe they mailed it out. WHat do you guys think?

Thanks :P

Touches don't mean anything. CSC received my petition on July 18th. I check my status on 9/18 before going to bed and I never had any touches or anything and when I logged online on the 19th, I received 2 notices saying I had been approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTransferred Petitions

YuAndDan was right... I should create my own thread of questions rather than spam on the other one.

Here are a few to get us started:

Is there any way of knowing (short of calling up USCIS) whether your application was transferred?
Did anyone get a notice? Or did everyone just figure it out by googling or VJ?

Also, did the transfer indirectly cause all transferred applications to be "touched"?
Because the one and only touch I know of is prior to the transfer... should I be worried?

Thanks in advance!
:help:

You can tell from who cashes your check, where it is at. I went online to my bank and saw a copy of the check after it was cashed. On the back was where it was cashed and when it was cashed. My check was cashed and it didn't show as a "touch". I never received any "touches" and BOOM, it was approved 2 months later.
robacjdMalePhilippines2006-09-19 13:20:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWOW!!!
WOW!! I have been approved. CSC received my petition on 7/18/06 and it was approved yesterday, (9/18/06).
I checked it last night, (9/18/06), before going to bed and there had been no touches or anything. This morning, (9/19/06), I got online and found 2 notices , (both saying the same thing), That I had been approved on 9/18/06. YIPEEEEEE.
This just shows there is always hope when you least expect it. I hope everyone else gets approved this fast.

My petition was approved on the 18th of September, and I never had any touches before then. CSC received my petition request on July 18th. I don't know why it was approved so fast. Maybe it was because I used an attorney, I don't know.
Good luck to every one who is still waiting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill an Immigration Attorney speed things up?
I hired an atorney and I believe he helped speed up my petition. The CIS received my petition on July 18th and was approved on September 18th. (60 days) I never received any RFE's or any touches at all. I noticed there were a lot of other petitions that were filed long before mine and they are still waiting to be approved. The attormey has helped me with my petition and my Fiancee's paper work. He has done everything up to the day of her medical and the interview.
I was going to do it myself, but there is so much conflicting information, because each country has their own rules and sometimes different forms and procedures. I researched information on USCIS, VisaJourney, ***removed***, and Pinoyinfo.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAge Difference Relationships
My fiancee is from the Philippines and she is 30 years old. I am from the US and I am 64 years old. There is a 34 year difference in our ages, but we don't see any problem in that. She wants to be with me and I want to be with her. I told her about how people think and feel about such an age difference over here, and she said she doesn't care what people say or think. To her, age is just a number. She says with my being much older than her, I know more about life and she doesn't have to worry about me cheating or lying to her, and she has seen how caring I am to her and her family. Her parents want nothing but the best for their daughter and they tell me they feel they have nothing to worry about as long as she and I love each other and take care of one another. The Philippine people have a different way of life and stronger family values, and the women take very good care of their husbands. (Something some of the the US people could learn from them.)
My K-1 has been approved and I will be going over to be with her while she goes through her part of the process. We have decided if she doesn't get approved because of the age difference or anything else, we will be married over there and I will move over there to be with her and her family.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresapproval?
On October 3, 2006, I received 5 emails telling the same thing. It states in part: "On October 2, 2006, The document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued." What does this mean? I received a notice on September 18, 2006, that my petition was approved. Is this the NOA2 just being mailed to me or my fiancee?

My K-1 petition was approved on September 18, and NVC still doesn't have me on file yet... Evidently USCIS hasn't sent it out yet. I don't understand what is going on. I wish they have sent the approval on to Manila.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSome please advice me
Go to "uscis.gov", and register to receive emails. You will need to look on the back of your check after it has been cashed, usually 2 weeks after you have sent it, or your NOA1, for the number to register with. After you have registered, The uscis will have a page with your information and there you can see when they "touch" it, any time you log into their site.
robacjdMalePhilippines2006-10-10 19:21:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI don't get it!
Don't worry, (too much). CSC received my I-129F on July 18th, 2006, and it was approved on September 18th, 2006. I never received any touches or anything. I registered with the USCIS for emails and on the 19th of September, I received an email telling me my petition was approved on the 18th. It can happen for you too. Just be patient. That is easy for me to say now, but not while I was waiting for the approval.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswould it help to explain the age difference in the initial application??

Believe me, I do see your point. But I don't think you are familiar with the procedures at some of these consulates. I have seen cases that are returned by the consulate before the beneficiary is allowed to present any evidence.

Care to cite specifics? Must have been for technical reasons because I can't returning a petition for reasons outside the scope and purview of the adjudicator.

You can browse the MENA forum and find many examples. Many 221g's doubting the validity of the relationship, and no, not for technicalities. I think we've all concluded that it is not correct procedure what they are doing, but they are doing it nonetheless. See jasal's post as well about China. This is a consulate specific issue, so if you're going through England, no one would ever suggest addressing red flags in the I-129F.

There is a 35 year difference between me and my fiancee. My petition was received by CSC on July 18th, 2006, and was approved on September 18th, 2006. There was no RFE or anything questioning our age difference. There may be some questions at the interview, but we will face them when they occur. We're not worried about the age difference. We are prepared to show how strong our love is for each other and how it will be even better after we are married.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone here used a lawyer for k1 visa?
Don't tell people not to hire an attorney. Everyone is different. If you want to make sure all of the forms and information is correct before you submit them to USCIS and not get an RFE. hire an attorney. This will keep you from wondering if everything you submitted is correct and worrying if you may get an RFE which will hold up your petition even longer. This is a long drawn out process and most people don't need the aggravation of doubt. It may cost you, but they will make sure you have sent everything and all of your forms are filled out correctly. Some attorneys will do everything for you and your fiancee up to her interview. If you have to work and take care of your personal day to day things, why not hire an attorney to help you through the process? I think the money spent is well worth the outcome.
robacjdMalePhilippines2006-10-27 17:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow much is this all going to cost us?
I think some people have gotten off of the real topic of "How much will this cost". I hired an attorney, spent 3 months with my fiancee last year, and am now staying another 6 months with her in the Philippines. I hope to bring her back with me in April. If not, then I will go back to get her when her visa is approved. I am by no means "rich", but money is only money and true love is priceless. There are a lot of married couples who don't have a lot of money, but are still in love with each other. I have been single for along time and and I don't want to grow old by myself. I think the "money" I have spent is well worth the outcome. If you really love someone, you will find a way to make it last even if you don't have a lot of money.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is best, to have a lawyer or not with the K-1 Visa??
I used an attorney and it was the best decision I made. I sent him all of the information, he made out the forms and submitted everything to the California Service center. It took only 60 days and I was approved and received my NOA2. I was given back everything he sent in, along with a letter to the US embassy in Manila stating "this is the information used to apply for the NOA2 approval notice". My fiancee will give this information along with the information asked for in her interview package to the interviewer on February 13th, (day before Valentine's Day.).
I suppose this is one advantage of using an attorney, along with the idea that I never worried about if I had sent the right forms, if I had submitted enough or all of the information needed or whether I would receive any RFE's. (I never received any.) By the way, I filed for the I-129F visa.

Everything the Attorney forwarded to the CSC was also returned to me along with a letter from my attorney to the US consulate in Manila, stating "this is the information used to file for the petition for the I-129F K-1 visa for my fiancee". My fiancee will give this information, along with her forms and information asked by the Embassy, at her interview on February 13th,(day before valentine's day).

No offense intended but it sounds like the attorney was an expensive copy machine.
