US Citizenship General DiscussionApplying for citizenship based on 3 Years Marriage/LPR

On both of those guides, it says Documents referring to you and your spouse: Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children.

Is that all you guys sent? Just those documents or did you send additional docs?


The only documents we sent for the category of evidence with both of our names were IRS Tax Transcripts from the last three years as was detailed in the instructions. We haven't received an RFE as yet. But of course YMMV.

I am happy to report that my husband passed his N-400 interview in Baltimore today and also was able to take his oath today. Everything went smoothly except that his interviewer appeared to be backed up by the time we arrived at 10:00 this morning. It took almost and hour and half after we arrived for my husband to be called, but the wait was well worth it. Thanks everyone for the encouragement throughout this entire process, and we wish the best for all of those still to be interviewed!!

We received one as well. Which was a surprise because I'd always heard and read that one would not be informed when it was time to file to lift conditions. Interesting that we received the reminder to file the I-751, but have yet to receive the NOA 1 upon actually filing it!

We had a sort of a similar situation in that we received 2 biometrics notices, one dated 3/19 and the second dated 3/21. We called the # on the biometrics letter (which turned out to be the VSC) and from what we were told there was no record of the 3/19 date in the system, only the 3/21 date was in the database. So apparently the ASC cancelled the first appointment and re-scheduled without clearly stating that in the second letter. Whatever the case, the situation wasn't very clear. Since there was no record of the 3/19 appt., we ended up going to the second appointment and had no problems. In fact they did us a favor because the second appt. was on a Saturday and there were only two other people in front of us waiting to be processed. At this point, since you've already done the biometrics, I would just call the toll-free number on the letter and see what they say.

How can u recieved NOA1 if u havn't sent I-129F yet? Usually after u send in yr I-129f with the G-325a then u will recieve a NOA1 telling u that yr case is pending and wait for further notice.

My mom is very important to me and I won't get to see her until I get my AP at least, which can be like 3 months.

My fiance is on my side here, but can't seem to get through to his mom or sister. His dad just kinda sits there until something blows up then he takes charge.

Am I asking too much to have my mom included in the Christmas festivities?

Keep in mind my fiance's family are VERY Christian people.

If that was me i would pretend i am sick or some thing or have a reasonable excuse not to attend that way u aren't putting yr fiance' between u and his family since u r a new member in the family give it some time allow them to get to know u then earn yr respect slowly and hope for the best. most of the relationships when the in-laws involve that means trouble.

I never post in this forum, but I felt compelled to do so on this thread. Personally I would not chance having even a non-paper ceremony, especially if you are in AP. There are K-1 VJers that had a non-paper marriage ceremony and somehow that information got into the hands of the consulate and they were confronted with it at a later interview. Plus you don't want your fiance to have to "think" if/when asked at the POE if he's already married. I can certainly understand you wanting to be married already, but I personally would not want to do anything to jeopardize reuniting with my fiance in this country. Just my .02cents.

Let me preface my statement by saying that I am not well-versed in the area of waivers and such, but I'd still like to add my two cents here. I don't think you can file a waiver in this case until some application or petition have been denied. As you have stated the facts, there has been no denial yet. Instead your I129f expired, and your I130 has been misplaced. It seems like the key to moving your situation forward is to determine where your I130 actually is. Until that application is located you will not know where you are in the process.

Although you have retained an attorney, I feel you have to be your own best advocate. You don't have to sit back and wait for your attorney to call USCIS, DOS or NVC. If I were you I would devote some time to getting in touch with the right person at the NVC to determine where your application is. I think byran mentioned contacting an Omsbudman. That sounds like a great place for you to start. The thing is you have to do something! And your attorney (who may be well meaning) should take direction from you. If you want your attorney to make the calls, then have him/her make the calls!

Hopefully there will be others to come along to help give you more direction, but I just wanted to encourage you to be more proactive.

We just filed our I129-F so we are new to the process. But I am praying that everything goes smoothly. As I am doing the same for everyone else here going through the same thing.

I agreed to post this info on VJ for any others lurking out there (aside from Cokebbeh and Omoba) that might be going through the Dakar Embassy. Below is my fiance's experience with the medical/vaccination process.

1/ I think there are three doctors that are approved by the Embassy. My fiance used Dr. Hassan Bahsoun and said he was very friendly and thorough. His office is located downtown, the address is in the Embassy materials.

2/ My fiance only had one shot, but three vaccinations were included in that one shot.

3/ The doctor did ask some questions but general ones about overall health and whether he had been in the hospital for long periods.

4/ Last thing. Before you actually see the doctor he will send you to two places, one is the Clinique Pasteur to get the HIV tet and another to get an x-ray I believe. I am not sure of the name of the last place. After those tests are done, then the doctor will fill out the form for the Embassy.

He was able to complete all of this within two days. He did all of the medical exams and testing yesterday, got the results that same day. And then had his vaccination today.

Sounds like this process is pretty efficient. We will see what happens regarding the interview. :unsure:

cokebbeh: i found out from an e-mail to the NVC today that the petition was sent to the consulate on October 23rd. Haven't received anything in the mail lately except for the NOA 2. So from what I have learned from omoba my fiance will need to go in and fill out "something" to get the interview process going. I see this is going to require a lot of vigilance just to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Great news! I certainly understand your position though. Parental acceptance is something we'd probably all like to have, but if in the past you don't get it, you are way more hesitant to try again. At least your mother is aware and can be there for you.

I have to agree with everyone else...it's maturity that will count in the long run. A friend of mine had to break off an engagement to a 45 year old man who was still playing games.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I wanted to offer some advice to esjessi. It's completely unsolicited advice so take it our leave it....but I was reading what you said about not telling your folks about applying for the fiance visa. Again...take or leave it, but try to be open with your parents about your situation. What I have found in this process is that it is best to try and be open especially with your family because you need support. Your parents may not agree with your choice at first, but it's quite possible for them to come around eventually. However, to not tell them and then spring it on them after the fact, might not be a good idea either. You are obviously a grown, intelligent woman who can make her own choices, and I am by no means questioning your judgement. Someone gave me the sage advice to at least let your family know what's going on so that they can be a part of things if they choose. I actually took this advice and it has made all the difference in my relationship with my husband and parents, and with him and my family.
