I'm frustrated with the process ....why would Atlanta be so slow compared to other states>> must be bunch of lazyass employees...

If you track your application online it states the processing time depends on the number of applications before yours. Maybe Atlanta processes a large region.

What do we call the first ten amendments...bill of rights .... questions.

Ahhh gotcha. Wasn't being a smartass, I was really curious. I'm starting to hit the ohmygodmyinterviewissoon paranoid stage... :P

My husband passed his citizenship test. Only 6 questions were needed. We waiting 15 minutes for his name to be called. The woman was very friendly, even asked if my name was "Liz" and mentioned some personal letters that were included in our support evidence. She definitely was paying attention, and was very happy to be doing her job, it seemed.

They asked:
Who is the president of the United States?
Who is the speaker of the house?
Name two national US Holidays?
When was independence day adopted?
What were the first 10 amendments?
First three words of the constitution question...

Writing:
Thanksgiving is in November

Read:
What did Abraham Lincoln do?

The interview took about 20 minutes and he received a saying he was recommendation for citizenship and we will wait for the date of the oath ceremony!

Hooray!

Yeah, congrats!

What were the first 10 amendments? - are you sure about that?

Now all we want is the uscis to pull there finger out and get the rest of the members sorted....

That expression makes me gag... :P (I agree with the sentiment though!)

Thanks for the "goodluck mesage" guys. Interview was easy as expected. Got in there at 7.35 AM, was called in around 8.15, and was out in around 10 minutes. The interview was just the officer reviewing the documents submitted and i was asked 6 of the civil questions which i answered correctly.

Funny thing is that their network was down, and the first thing the interviewer told me was that "If successful today, we won't be able to schedule you for a oath ceremony as our network is down." Well, i got a letter showing that i passed and that he will recommend me for approval to come for an oath within the next 60 days.

I asked the officer what the schedule was llke for oaths and was told they don't have one this month, but that they have for May, June and July. He also said i will probably be in the next batch in May and to bring my PR card to the oath.

  :D

Er.. How many submissive Eastern European women do you actually know? laughing.gif Any one who is using THAT as a criteria and looking in Eastern Europe has made a serious error, but we see that assumption posted all the time around here. Statements like that usually come from people who don't actually know many people from the region. Just saying...

Well, most of the East European women here in Turkey are 'working girls' but that's a whole other can of worms. The point is, that some American men have those preconceived notions that turn out to be inaccurate. Hence certain nationalities being over represented trying to adjust status alone after abuse, cheating or because they entered the relationship fraudulently. Hell, I've run into American guys that said they were fed up with domineering, feminist American women and of all places they went to Scandinavia to find a woman. blink.gif If you know anything about the Nordic countries you'll know they are the last place you should go if you are afraid of independent, educated, strong, feminist women. Some people just set impossible standards for what they want in a mate and convince themselves that they'll find it abroad, only it turns out they can't find it anywhere. After 3 strikes in PI, I'd say Steve isn't going to find what he wants there either so perhaps he should try Botswana next.

My thoughts exactly. I think it is his attitude that prevents him from finding a woman. His arrogance, piss-poor personality, his ignorance and his unwillingness to look at the reality of the situation is what is holding him back. There is nothing wrong with looking for love overseas. It definitely makes things more exciting but also more complicated. But whoever he ends up marrying, I'm sure we will end up reading posts from her asking how to adjust status on her own unless he works on himself and changes his outlook. Let him go to Eastern Europe or Asia to find a submissive, hot young babe. However, he should be given the heads up that Asian and East European babes are by far over-represented in the VAWA, Effects of major family changes and Imbra forums. whistling.gif

It is probably because a man is judged more for how successful he is rather than his looks or age. Whereas, it really hasn't been that long since women entered the workforce in such numbers so women are still judged on looks no matter how successful they may be.

True but looks are everything in getting a relationship started. Don't kid yourself; I two are not attracted to each other (and I mean physically) then any other attraction may not be sufficient enough to make the relationship work.

Oh, I'm not kidding myself in the least. I realize that looks are important. Looking at your picture I must say you are too old, overweight, pasty and unattractive to appeal to me in the slightest. No offense, you just aren't my type. Perhaps you have a great personality but I would never get to know that for judging you based solely upon looks. Obviously, I admit to being superficial too but I still think it is sad we live in such a thoroughly superficial world. But at the end of the day, I think men and women's preferences go back to biology. The male wants the woman he perceives to be the most fertile which in the past as in the present usually translates to an attractive, young woman. The woman wants the man that would provide the greatest amount of security and protection for her and her offspring. In the past that meant the biggest and most successful hunter/warrior, today it means the guy with a big paycheck even if he is a goofy little computer geek. Hence you see some beautiful supermodels with some silly looking but rich twerps. But now women working has changed things so women with high salaries can choose to remain single and still have kids (or not) or pick a man based upon looks or that is equally successful and sometimes even less so.

Honestly, if I'd met my husband in a bar I probably would have walked right past him and not given him a first let alone a second look because I prefer men that are really tall. I just wanted to point out that judging based upon looks is no different than judging based upon income and ultimately goes back to biology and the most beautiful women usually have the highest expectations with regards to income. So obviously an ugly man with a moderate to low income will have to go to a 3rd world country where his income will look far more attractive to the local beauties. Steve just doesn't seem to get that the beautiful women he is courting still have their standards but those standards are based upon 3rd world economics where he will stand a better chance rather than 1st world economics where he doesn't. Like Donna said, women have every right to have financial standards. Having a family is expensive and if a woman wants children then the smartest thing for her to do is find a man that makes enough for them to afford as many children as they want. It might be crass but it is also being a damn good mother by choosing a responsible and reliable mate to help provide for their offspring. Personally, I don't want children so I don't care if my husband never makes over $40k and I've long gotten over the fact that he isn't tall since he is so sweet, considerate and smart. To be honest, he is a far nicer and less superficial person than I am so I probably don't deserve him but I'm not going to let him go.

I think judging someone based on looks is equally as bad as judging someone based upon income. But everyone is superficial to some extent. I know that my blue eyes, button nose and long, blond hair is part of what attracts my husband to me but that isn't all he cares about. And the fact that my husband isn't a fat, balding, superficial, materialistic, ignorant, loud-mouthed, misogynistic, American male is part but not all of what attracts me to him. The superficial things might be what initially holds your attraction but they won't hold your interest completely or be what maintains your relationship in the long run. Now to all those out there with deep-seated feelings of inadequacy due to low income and insufficient packages, it is time to break out the blow up dolls because you'll never attract a real woman of any nationality with that massive chip on your shoulder.

good.gif But you forgot to mention superficial, egotistical, etc., etc. They seem to be, mistakenly, attributing what constitutes shallow American pop-culture to American women alone.

To be honest though, it is a little creepy when middle-aged men consistently seek out teenage girls repeatedly. Once is a fluke but more than that sends up red flags of being a predator. That tells me it's not so much American women that have the problem so much as they, themselves. They seem to be the type that want a mommy/maidservant in their teenage daughter's body. I wouldn't want guys like that living next door to me if I had a teenage daughter. Sadly, Asian countries in particular are filled with middle-aged western men on holiday to hook up with underage girls. You can't mention the country Thailand without images of the child prostitute coming to mind. I wonder how these guys would feel about their Filipino brides once they become assimilated to American culture, learn their rights and reach the age of 30.

Call the DOS. Ask them if your administrative processing is background checks with Washington or if it is administrative processing at the embassy. The DOS will be able to tell you.

I am sorry to hear that you got AP.

Is it really necessary to wait 60 days before calling about your AP status like it says here? I'm dieing to call but I don't want to if it will anger them and cause them to take even longer with our case. :(

Thanks, guys. I just called and got thru to a live person but of course they weren't able to tell me anything other than that the case is still being processed.

Every time I email the embassy they just say the same thing...to check the website. If I ask why we were put on AP they say check the website for updates. If I ask them if moving will delay our process further they just say to check the website. If I ask if there is any more info. we can send them to speed up the process they say check the website. But they haven't updated the website since Dec. 18th. That's an awful long holiday. <_<

I guess I will have to call the embassy to speak to one of the stiffs they have there to find out if our moving will delay the process.

Sorry, just had to share this lame joke:

A man starts his new job at the zoo and is given three tasks.
First is to clear the exotic fish pool of weeds. As he does this a huge
fish jumps out and bites him.
To show who is boss, he beats it to death with a spade.

Realising his employer wont be best pleased he disposes of the fish by feeding it to the lions, as lions will eat anything.

Moving on to the second job of clearing out the Chimp house, he is
attacked by the chimps who pelt him with coconuts.

He swipes at two chimps with a spade killing them both.
What can he do?

AH.....Feed them to the lions, he says to himself, because lions eat anything.

He hurls the corpses into the lion enclosure.

He moves on to the last job which is to collect honey from the South
American Bees.

As soon as he starts he is attacked by the bees. He grabs the spade and smashes the bees to a pulp.

By now he knows what to do and throws them! into the lions cage because lions eat anything.

Later that day a new lion arrives at the zoo.

He wanders up to another lion and says "What's the food like here?"

(wait for it!!)....

The lions say: "Absolutely brilliant, today we had Fish and Chimps with
Mushy Bees."

I don't think you know a damn thing about what American or Russian women are thinking. And yes I have come across many Russian, Ukrainian and other East European women during my time living in various countries in Europe and the ME. I find that East European women generally want the same things out of men that American or any other group of women want. Perhaps you are suffering from some measure of self hate and feelings of inadequacy and transferring those emotions into a negative view of American women. Whenever I meet a misogynistic American male it always makes me wonder if his mother was a materialistic stripper since people tend to view the opposite sex based upon how their parent was. Guess your views don't speak well of your mother.

Just because a few people with 'issues' in this forum think a certain way doesn't make them or their views right. You don't see the same BS in the UK, European or Canadian forums that you see here. The only other place I've seen such nonsense is in the MENA forum and I think the middle-aged women that hate all American men are equally idiotic. At the end of the day, none of you are making American women look bad. You are only making yourselves look bad and very, very bitter with each and every asinine post. Not only that, but you are making your wives look bad. I wouldn't stay with a man that was so bitter or that was only with me because of my looks. I know my husband appreciates my looks as much as he likes posting my pics on his facebook page but I also know that if I were horribly disfigured in a car wreck tomorrow he would still stay with me and love me. Does this thread still involve pie too? I made this pie over the break just after my accident. I had pre-made the crust and frozen it and it was still great. I used a berry mix (blackberries, raspberries, and some strawberries) and it was heavenly. I also cheated and bought a frozen peach pie from the store and it was also good-- I mean, come on, it's pie! Pie=always the right thing to do. Whenever I go to a Lebanese restaurant I usually order the lamb skewers. The meat is so tender and tastes good with the yogurt and sprigs of mint leaves. First they bring pita bread, hummus, Lebanese salad and pickled vegetables to your table. Then they bring your meal. I get the skewers of lamb meat served with rice and natural yogurt. Some places serve it with fries instead of rice.

Here's a recipe for the lamb shish kabab.

INGREDIENTS:

2 kg (64 oz)lamb meat, cubed (5 cm)
6 small firm red tomatoes sliced
½ kg (16 oz) lard, chopped
1 tbls vegetable oil
7 small onions, peeled and halved
1 tbls salt
1 tspn ground allspice
1 tspn ground black pepper
1 tspn ground cinnamon
2 medium green bell peppers, chopped into medium pieces
½ cup finely chopped parsley
charcoal

PREPARATION:

Mix meat with onion, spices, salt, lard, parsley, and oil. Place in refrigerator for 4 hours tossing occasionally.
Meanwhile prepare charcoal. Thread meat, onion, tomatoes, bell peppers onto skewers, alternating the ingredients.
Grill over hot coals. Turning several times until tender and browned, about 8 minutes.
Serve hot with salads and appetizers.
Note: If you use bamboo skewers, soak in water for 1 hour before using to keep the exposed portions from burning.

Tamalitos/Dukunu

Tamalitos are made solely of corn and are rich in flavor. Here are some quick easy steps to follow on your own. First, get a hold of the ingredients; fresh green corn, 1 small onion, 1 small bell pepper, coconut milk (optional), 1 stick margarine melted, ¼ cup vegetable oil, thyme, salt, and corn meal (optional). First, take corn and husk it, make sure to save some of the greener leaves and place aside. In a bowl, slice kernel off the corn cob, blend or grind corn, onion, bell pepper and coconut milk (optional). Then, take the husks you saved and spoon mixture on husk; wrap the tamale and fold one end whilst leaving the other end open, then start placing them standing upright in a pot until tightly stacked. Lastly, cover the tamalitos with some corn husks and fill pot to half with water so as to avoid water from entering. Cover and place pot on high heat for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The dish is usually eaten as is, but to make the dish even better it can be accompanied with stewed chicken or other stewed meats.
