It really depends on the state. It usually takes 15 days from the time you request them.
They told me to come back and pick it up in 15 days, but my dad went back there one week after I had requested them and they were already done, just waiting for me.

Mexico, Latin & South America6-8 weeks? From NVC To Rio Consulate?

Oh yeah I remember that. Well then where the hell is my petition!? Abu effing Dabi!?

If they sent it Oct 31, then it's been 13 days or so..... ok I can give them a little more time. Do you think Rey should just send in packet 3? PS I forgot what goes in packet 3? He knows but he's busy at work...

i think before he sends it in, he has to have the rdj number, and he can't get that till rio gets it......

but if you know when it left nvc, have you tried tracking the package to see where it went?

He can get the RDJ number from the NVC, Charles.
The dhl tracking never worked for my petition... I even called dhl and a very nice girl said NVC had sent 30 envelopes to Rio on the day they sent mine, while their website only showed 9. So try not to focus so much on that...
Oh, and btw, I think Rio is WAY busier than it was a few months ago when most of our Brazilian friends here were going through it... it took them ONE MONTH to receive my case from NVC. According to the Consulate, their mail room was incredibly full and after the envelopes reach their building, they have to go through that mail room before reaching someone's desk.
Good luck and keep calling them.

There's one thing I love about americans is their ability to make you feel welcome!! My husband's family has been great with me as well. His best girl friend has become a great friend of mine, we love hanging out together (without him!). I only have good things to say about every single person I met thru him, everyone has been so open and friendly and helpful. I've been truly blessed!

I just have one question...how long after the interview did she get the passport with her visa? Ohhh...and when is the wedding??? :P

Isn't that true? I feel so welcome in their lives as well. His family spoils me to death, and his friends love me so much! They all ask about me every single day and even go to his house to see me on the webcam. I'm really really lucky and blessed! :lev:

And yeah, good question... how long did it take for her to get the passport back? Did she pick it up or had it delivered?

You don't need to learn the dance to be a part of the whole thing.... you'll probably be put in a section where people just have to walk and jump around.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaBuying Ticket for my fiancee
www.expedia.com, www.travelocity.com, www.tam.com.br, www.continental.com, www.delta.com, etc...
you can just buy them and ask your fiance to just print them out here.
If you use a travel agent in Brazil to buy a ticket for someone in the US, then you can't use an e-ticket. But I have never had a hard time using the e-tickets we got online...

Either way is fine! E-ticket, paper ticket... it doesn't matter. I've always used e-tickets and have never had a single problem.
You can perfectly buy the e-ticket online and have her print it out here... I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed.
Good luck!

And yeah... IKOBO works great, I even started a thread about it once I think. But it takes a few days for her to get the card though. Since you asked for the fastest way, I'd go with Western Union. One time, I was at bank and had David on the phone with me... he sent me the money as we talked and 10 minutes later I got the money.

We only use Western Union and are happy with it! She doesn't need to have a bank account in order to receive the money.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaIs it just me...
I think Brazilian TV does that to people. Here we're raised to believe Brazil is known as a great place to visit, with beautiful and diverse culture, happy people, very good at a few sports, great music, great plastic surgery, etc.... but when you travel and get to know people from other countries a little, you learn that all these things you think our country is known for, are replaced with things like violence, poverty, hot women looking for tourists to have sex with, etc.

No one I have ever talked to, knew who the J sisters were.... so don't worry about that Rey. BTW, if you don't want our country to be known for the bikini wax, it means you do care about what they think of us. :P

i'm on a different work schedule right now. the previous answers were me just popping into vj and seeing what was there. no, i don't btw. i'd hate to be responsible for filling up a local landfill

Anywho, my country should be know for its violence and not for something that is not even from here.

Eta: maybe for being one of the BRIC...

And you think it's not?

Meredith... if you look at the girls' timelines on Orkut (you know which community I'm talking about), you'll see that all of them are having their interviews on a Tuesday. The latest one that I heard of, was on the 23rd.... so they still have the 30th of January and all of February to fill. Let's do some positive thinking :P

São Paulo- (he can get it online)

He doesn't have to wait for his visa in Rio... if he does get a green 221(g), he can go home after his interview and mail the certificates to them. Then they'll mail him his passport with his visa.
But don't worry before you really have to. I'll try to find out the easiest ways for him to get those documents.

If everything else is right but he still needs to provide the certificates, they'll give him a green 221(g), which allows him to just mail them the certificates whenever he can... and they'll send him his visa once they receive the certificates.
If he needs to go back for a second interview (that was my case) they'll give him a white 221(g).
If all he needs is the police report from those states, it's more likely he'll get the green one since there's no need for him to go back to Rio just to give them those papers.

And in my opinion, he needs to request a police certificate for every state he has lived in for more than six months after his 16th bday. But that's open for discussion though.
