National Visa Center (Dept of State)emailing NVC instead of calling
The first 2 times I called, I was connected right away. But now every time I try to call before 8pm, they tell me to call later, so I wait and when I call again after that, I get connected pretty fast too. They always tell me my case hasn't been received there and that it can take up to 90 days!! :o
Last time I called I spoke with a very nice guy that told me that the amount of time it takes depends only on the CSC's backlog.
I emailed NVC 4 days ago but so far they haven't replied. ;)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Good news or BS?
They probably got A LOT of cases from CSC and didn't have time to give them all a case number yet.
Hang in there.... I feel you won't have to wait a lot longer!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Good news or BS?

Just got off the phone with the NVC operator. She was in a very good mood today and open. While our case has not been entered into the system yet, I asked further. She said they (NVC had just received a huge transfer from the California Service Center today (Monday), and were working on assigning case numbers and entering them into their computer system today. She said to call back tomorow and check, not the standard wait 2-4 weeks.
Lets all hope for the best on this news.

My heart jumped when I read this!!! I hope it's true and I hope my case was in there too!!!!!! YAY!!!
Let's keep each other posted!!! :star:

National Visa Center (Dept of State)What is it?
They did the same to me last Friday... I sent them an email back saying that they had made a mistake and that I'd like to ask them to check on the right case number again. They replied on Monday saying my case had been received there that day! I called to make sure it had gotten there and it really had!
Good luck to you guys!!

also on the NVC phone number, you dont even need to talk to a person. Just follow the prompts, enter your receipt number, and the automated voice will tell you whether or not they have record of your case, and it takes all of about 30 seconds.

You acttually HAVE to talk to a real person. The k1 petitions are there for such a short time that they don't enter them into that sistem.... so if you call and never talk to an operator, you'll be very frustrated as you'll think your petition never got there.

well, I just got through. Still not showing up in their system. ~sigh~

I'd really like to spend Christmas in the US with my snugglebunny.

That's all I'm thinking about too..... :(
But Rio is already setting interview dates for November, so I'm not sure that will be possible.

Christmas home together would be great, eh? So nice! We can only all hope! Out of curiousity, how did you go about finding out the interview schedule for Rio?

Some girls here are also from Brazil and their cases already reached the Consulate. One of them has an interview scheduled for November, so I just assumed all dates before that are already taken.
I just called NVC today again and guess what..... they don't have my case yet  Oh well, keep waiting I guess.
I just hope we can all spend Christmas with our fiances... that'd be so good!! I'll keep praying for that to happen!

yep. Hey, I just may become a believer if it works out! This is from www.astrologyzone.com. In August, she said I would have good immigration news, possibly by email, at the end of August.

I just want NVC to get my file and move it along. I am hoping to move by the end of November, and that isn't going to happen at this rate.

I loved that site!!!! :P I hope it happens just as it says it will
Good luck to us!!! :star:

heh. Since my horoscope for August kind of proved correct, I looked it up on the same site for September.

If you have tried to get citizenship in another country or to be approved for a green card, this month could bring the good news you've long awaited. ... You have powerful aspects, and you could be successful now, especially after September 22.

There you go. The planets say NVC will get all Capricorn files by Friday.

You seriously got that????
Where did you read it at? I want to read it too!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

When did you send that email? I sent one Monday morning but no response yet. Also have not yet received the phsycial NOA2 in the mail. And NVC told me yesterday to allow 30 days for the case to reach them from CSC. More waiting . . .

I sent it on the 15th and they replied today! We were approved on the same day and I got my NOA2 in the mail early last week. Dave just told me it says they mailed it on the 8th.
Good luck and we should keep each other informed of what happens from now on.

Hi,
My I129-F petition (LINxxxxxxxxxx ) was approved on Sep 6th by the USCIS, and I'd like to know if it has already been received by the NVC and/or forwarded to the Consulate abroad.

Thank you for your time and have a good day,

I thought they sent them in batches. I am sure I saw someone from CSC with approval in early Sept got their NVC number already, and forwarded.... oh well! I am used to being stuck at CSC.

That would just be the normal thing to do wouldn't it? Why not send them in batches??

How long does it usually take them to answer emails??

I got a response (a useles one) after 3 days. I sent another email yesterday, because I haven't been lucky with the phone. But then, the times I can call are limited.

Thanks... I'll try to email them again!

Out of the last 100 K1 petitions approved by CSC, with dates that go from 08/30/2006 to 09/23/2006, only 3 made it to the NVC... according to the timelines.
You'll find this information here.
Now, out of the last 100 K1 petitions approved by VSC, with dates that go from 07/13/2006 to 09/22/2006, 76 already made it to the NVC.
Or if you want to look at it another way, from 08/30/2006 to 09/23/2006 (period in which the last 100 petitions have been approved by CSC), VSC has only approved 24 petitions... but 17 of them already reached the NVC.
VSC timeline search here!
I think CSC can do better than that!!!!

I agree, I think it's time to do something. At least if it appears on TV for at least a minute, it will scare the s**t of the service center directors and they might get their act together.

Another idea, we could send the same letter we sent our congressman/woman to Larry King with the timelines we have from VJ as proof.

Interview was a success... thank you for all the constructive criticism!
Just for the record, I was told by the consular officer, even before the interview started, that they didn't want to hear from me why I didn't think I was wrong, because I wouldn't change their minds anyway. All they wanted was for me to recognize I had made a mistake and that I had learned from it. Plain and simple... I felt they were really listening to me and really wanted to help me succeeding. They were profesional about it, but I felt like I was talking with friends instead of the nightmare most of us think it's gonna be.
Thank you again, and good luck to all of you!

####### Marc? Honesty is one think... being tactless is something completely diffrent, and that is what you are. Plain rude and tactless.
And how do you know I'm not more into chess than you? How well do you know me? FYI, I went to England in 2003, while David was in Brazil, to play a Chess tournament. He stayed in Brazil.
As far as I know, it is not illegal to try visit friends in the US if you have an American boyfriend/fiance. Of course, you might be turned down and lose money... but that's it.
My application says what it says... I wanted to go to a chess tournament with friends. Would I have told them my friends' names if they had asked me? Yes, I'd tell them the name of every single person that would travel with me to the tournament... and that is exactly what I did at the POE. I don't lie... so whenever they asked, I told them the name of the people I was going to be with for that certain amount of time! Did they know at the POE that David, one of the people I was going to be with, was my fiance? I don't know... probably.
It's their fault they didn't ask me all they had to ask at the time of my interview...

Wow, I didn't realize you knew so much about how particular consulates (or even CO's) would adjudicate specific cases.
What a fool the OP must have been to not seek your opinion first!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Had my interview and got a 221(g)
I never mentioned David at the time of my TV interview because they never asked. Simple as that.

I was refused entry not because of David, but because they didn't like the fact a girl like me, would be going to the US just to go to a Chess tournament. They didn't like me I guess.
So at the time of my K1 visa interview they put it all together... because then they had proof that I knew David in 2005 and still tried to go to the US as a tourist. Get it?

Sorry I'm not so active in my own thread, but I'm trying to get this worked out and it sucks everything out of me. But thank you for all the constructive replies... I'll use all the information given the best way I can... then I'll let you all know what happened!

Just a suggestion - did your fiancee end up going to the chess championship after all on his own? Did he have tickets or perhaps an online print out of the event to show it was a legitimate event? Did you have a return ticket booked, or written emails discussing your plans for the event and the days around it? Can you provide an affidavit from friends or acquaintances, especially work acquaintances, with whom you discussed your visit and your intention to return? Start thinking creatively of all of the different types of evidence you can pull together to prove that you had a life in your own country to which you intended to return, and that this visit was just a holiday. Good luck.

Jenn, you didn't understand it right. I wasn't refused a visa, I was refused entry (that's when I didn't mention David and just said I was gonna go with a friend to the US Chess Chmpionship... which was true, but the friend was David :) )
Stupid stupid stupid me!!!! Grrrrrrr If I just knew.......
All they want to know is that I didn't have the intention to commit fraud, I think. But I still want to learn as much as I can about this stupid 221g.
It also says that this 221(g) is given to anyone that needs to show more evidence of any kind. I was wondering if this is true.
