National Visa Center (Dept of State)What's going on at NVC!?
OMG this scares me more than waiting for the NOA2... probably because there's NO reason for them to wait 90 days to forward the case!!!
I just have to remain calm and hope this doesn't happen to us! But that is hard to do when I read this kind of thread  I keep checking the timelines and waiting that long is not so common.... I'm just afraid it might become common in the next few months though.
I'll keep praying!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DHL shipment from NVC and delivery notification

I did it to get tracking notification, no problem there, it is just an automated system anyway, I got an email from DHL when the package arrived in Guangzhou, China.

One note: many consulates tend to receive the package, but may take some time before actually opening the box and entering "receive" the cases into their system.

DHL will say it is delivered but the consulate when asked will say that they have not "received" it yet.

Patience is a virtue, just be comfortable that DHL stated that is delivered.

True!
DHL informed me that the last package that left the NVC on the same day as mine(sep 27th), on their way to Rio, had been delivered on Oct 2nd. But it took the Consulate one month to consider my petition received.
Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPassport expiring during the K-1 process
If it's not at the consulate yet, why would you have inform them of the change?
I don't remember having to mention my passport number at all so far.... I know I'll have to once the case reaches the consulate, but that hasn't happened yet. So why would they need to be informed of that change? Maybe I'm missing something but as far as I can tell, she can renew it and have it ready by the time she gets Packet 3.
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck!!

You've done immigration paperwork and you think passport paperwork is red-tape?

-laugh- oh yes. immigration paperwork means mailing stuff in. passport paperwork in manila? good heavens...
just think, getting a birth certificate will take more than half a day if you're lucky, unless you're willing to pay 6x the price to have them deliver it to you in 3-5 days. I chose the latter as it meant I could work and not waste time waiting in line. Unfortunately, I can't do the same for a passport...

OK, I'm lost.

Do you have to get a special passport to go to the Philipines? Something different than a regular passport like most people use to travel?

MrMrsKnight,

I know. I was reacting to your VJ name. You might want to be careful where you use that name, it could create a question in the minds of people who could put the immigration process on hold while they ask you to provide an explanation, and prove it.

Yodrak

.....

By the way, he's my fiance, not my husband.

Yeah I know :star: We use that screen name online because FutureMrMrsKnight would be too long. :P

You write that you want to avoid the trouble of changing his address "all the time", yet you are under no requirement at this time to change it at all. You are wanting to avoid work that you are creating for yourself.

Yodrak

Yodrak, thank you. The quoted part finally answered my question. I do want to say that I'm not creating work and that is the very reason why I created this thread, to ask before doing something I don't have to do. I haven't affirmed that I'd have to do anything or notify anyone of his address change.... I simply asked.
By the way, he's my fiance, not my husband.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNeed help with address change!!
Yodrak, I actually asked this question because I've read on this forum that when people move around all the time, are in college, or abroad, they can choose an address (like their parents' house) to give as their home address and have their Immigration related correspondence sent to.
His old home address (again, his brother's house) is not any less of a home adress than the new one is, in my opinion.
What do you all think?

Btw, I saw this thread has been moved. I think that if I change the address, I have to change it with the USCIS.... so this is not only Embassy related. It also involves my AOS and a lot of people could benefit from the information that will hopefully be posted here.

Hey everyone!
David rented and moved to a new house in September, around the same time we got our NOA2. As you can all tell by my timeline, my interview is gonna be on Jan 2nd and I have a few questions before printing out the forms, that I have already filled out by the way.

- Is it okay to put his old address (which is a house his brother owns) as his current one? I ask this because even though we love this new house, there's a tiny chance we'll move again before the AOS... I just want to save the trouble of changing it all the time along the process.
- If it's not okay, how and who should I notify of this change?

Thank you guys.... keep your fingers crossed and pray for me as my interview is coming!!!!!! :star:

Don't do anything you might regret later, no one really knows if she really just made a mistake and regrets lying to you, or if she's playing you. So no one here can or should judge your relationship.

You know what will make you inelegible though? Being mentally unfit.

Nono, let's not joke about HIV because that's serious. Not like mental disorders. In fact, when I think someone's being horrid and making obnoxious posts on a web forum, I just say that person's a head case, because such behavior is unique to the mentally ill. And you can all laugh when I say that, because it's not serious. Not like HIV, which mustn't be joked about under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES because that's WRONG.

If she does have HIV, she should try immigrating to Brazil instead. They'll give her free health care and free medication for her disease as well as amnesty for illegals coming up in 2008.

The US is not going to be kind to those who think it is a free ride.

Wow, thats an idea. If our petition gets all messed up. we will both run to Brazil before 2008! Free medical sounds great. Noone outside the US has ANY idea what medical costs are here....I thought I read canada was free medical also (govt sponsored) but I may be wrong.

LOL yeah it's free...... you just have to wait in line for about a week until a doctor shows up to tell you if they have the medication you need. But hey, it's free! hehe
Funny how free medical here only works well for people that have money to pay for insurance.... it makes me wonder....

If you're sick, I'm sorry.... hope you can find the strength to get through it.
They'll find out you have aids if you're the foreign fiance since you'll have to do a check up. If you're the USC, they won't find out but read this.....
Do I have to tell people that I have sex or share needleswith that I’m HIV positive or that I have AIDS? The safest course is to share with people that you have sexor share needles with information about your HIV or AIDSstatus. If you do not tell them, under certain circumstancesthey may be able to sue you, even if they do not become infected with HIV. If improper intent is shown you also maybe charged with a crime. Crimes such as attempted murder can be used to punish a person who knowingly infects someone else with HIV. To protect yourself from such prosecutions, it is best to disclose your status to your sex partner and to practice safe sex.
find it HERE
Think twice before hiding anything from your fiance. I know I'd support my fiance if he was sick, I wouldn't leave him. But if I found out he had been hiding it from me.... then I'd doubt his love for me and it'd be over!
Hope you decide for the best!

Well.... Rohypnol is not legal in the US. He had the prescription to board the plane with them just to use them on the plane because he was scared about the flight. I guess he put them in the glove compartment on his way home from the airport like 6 months ago.... and the police officer just found them there....
Hope I made it more clear!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP
:help: Hi people..... I need some serious advice here. Or maybe just opinions :-)
My USC fiance lived with me here in Brazil for 2 years and during that time he suffered from depresion and anxiety. So the doctors here prescribed Rohypnol to help him sleep and to make the anxiety go away. When he went back to the US, the doctor wrote a prescription allowing him to use that pill on the plane so he took a few of those pills with him.
When he got to the US he started a treatment with an american doctor and stopped taking those pills after a few weeks, that was 6 months ago! Well, yesterday he got stopped by a police officer and when he searched the car... what did he find??? 4 of those pills were in the glove compartment!! He forgot them there since he wasn't taking them anymore(he still has the prescription he was given here in my country).... so they took him to jail and he spent the night there. Now he'll have to go to Circuit Court on Thursday because that's considered a felony!
I'm so afraid to ask this question but here it goes........ How much is that going to hurt our K1 visa process??? I can't imagine what my life would become if he actually went to jail(I really don't think that'll happen) or having to give up on the K1 Visa. :crying:

Help please!! :help:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrenup...?

Personally, I believe that if you, as an individual have significant assets to protect in the event of a failed marriage then there's absolutely a reason to pursue getting a prenuptial.

I did this myself as I have moderate wealth. There are ways, and means, to introduce this sensitive subject to your fiance(e) without alienating them (no pun intended).

The wrong way is to claim that what is yours is yours prior to marriage and anything you aquire while married is joint, or marital property.

The right way to put it is that, upon dissolution of marriage that property attained by you (assuming your the one protecting assets) is yours, and exclusively yours, if any of the following reasons for the marriage to end come to fruition:

irreconcilable differences

committing adultery

spousal abuse (on her part)

And many other circumstances and caveats...............................

If properly written, the prenuptial should also spell out the circumstances by which your property will revert to your spouse, assuming your spouse is faithful and true to the marriage, as in your sudden death.

There are many here that become quite emotional over this subject but I think that the only people that really give this option serious consideration are of course those that have significant holdings, property and wealth to protect in the likelihood the marriage is dissolved through divorce.

It's clearly the "smart" thing to do, especially if you have significant assets.

Well I must say you made so much sense there. My fiance and I are not rich so maybe that's one of the reasons why we didn't even consider it... I do know we wouldn't have anyway.... hehe. But still... letting the non USC fiances add whatever they think should be valid too is a good way to do it....
MrMrsKnightFemaleBrazil2006-01-29 20:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrenup...?

nope - would never do it -- unless it was a marriage of convience - for love - -nothing else is important and besides - the goverment kinda provides a mini one for you --

If this is something you would do whether you married another USC or not then I dont think its odd..if however you would NOT do this for a USC then I'd ask myself why not.
Marriage is a partnership and its also a risk - for her just as much as you (or reverse the sexes if you're a female).
The ideal situation - if you can call it that - would be that at divorce you BOTH end up with something, rather than nothing. The non-USC may be giving up a lot, including financial independence and stability just to come over to marry the USC. What are they supposed to do if a genuinely entered into marriage breaks down? Live on the streets?
However, Im not doing any pre-nup even tho as the non-USC Im better off financially - I'm not thinking about divorce cos I dont want to start off married life looking at ways it might FAIL.
My 2 cents.

My fiance and I agree that you can't have a relationship without trust and the feeling that no mater what happens you'll always want this person to be safe, because you love, right? Now if you have any doubts in your mind, you should first make sure that this person is worth of your trust. But that's only our opinion!
