Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMay 2011 Filers

Just got back from my early walk in bio in the Raleigh-Durham NC office! In and out in less than 10 minutes. :thumbs:
The 1st security guard checks asks "you have an appointment today?" .. i replied "yes", she checks my Bio Letter against my ID to make sure name is correct (did not look at the date). The 2nd security guard asks "what time is your appointment"... I replied "2pm" .. he looks at the letter and then points me to the reception area. Who knows if he looked at the date or just didnt care about the fact I was a month early for my appointment? lol But the office was empty! More security personnel and USCIS Staff then us "immigrants" :bonk:




You are gutsy, Deidre! Since we got our notices/appointments within days of each other and are going to the same USCIS office, it will be interesting to see if your application pulls ahead of ours for having gone weeks before your appointment since E is not planning to go early. I'm curious!

Just called NCSC to figure out what happened to our biometrics appointment...it's been 5 weeks since our application was received!

The good news is that they didn't have me on hold for a million hours like I'd expected.

The bad news is that they won't give me information about the case until I call back with my husband present...even though we're filing jointly.

At least they'll take calls until 8pm! I guess we can try again after work.

O.K. It's 1:10am and I just finished putting the packet together. I'm going to mail it first thing when the post office opens today, probably send it next day delivery. But do they receive packages on a Saturday? It's headed to VSC, good luck everyone and nice to see some familiar names. :)



They received ours at VSC on a Saturday, although I don't think they have anyone actively processing them on the weekends. Congrats with being done!

Please add us too! Our application was received by the VSC on Saturday. Let the waiting begin!

Just for reference, our packet had:

* Copy of E's green card, front and back
* Four recent photos (all from the same day, which I realize is lame, but they were clearly taken by a professional portrait photographer which I figured would be a slight point in our favor. Who would go through that if they weren't a real couple. That said, this is a far cry from AoS where we submitted photos of us at every major landmark in the USA, lol)
* Two affidavits - we got ours notarized, but the friend who wrote one affidavit notarized the other. hope that doesn't seem too fishy -- we just really didn't want to bug our friends more than necessary.
* copy of joint car title
* copy of joint homeowners insurance - we bought a house this year which I feel should be a huge point in our favor, but unfortunately since E had no established credit, we couldn't put him on the mortgage. He is on the title, but the bank has that, so hopefully this is enough to establish joint homeownership. If not, I guess we can take our RFE to the bank, ha ha.
* copy of shared cell phone plan
* copy of taxes for the last two years, and an amendment form to show that we filed for the first-time homebuyers credit after filing our taxes initially
* deposit summary from our bank - only a recent one, but it shows a loan we took out in both of our names half a year ago or so, so I guess that's a little history
* copies of one of our shared credit cards and printed out statements to show activity over the last two years (I think we included 6 statements over that period), though it really doesn't break out activity by who charged what, so i'm not sure how meaningful this is
* documentation showing E as the beneficiary of my retirement fund
* summary of our joint life insurance
* copies of cards from our shared Costco and AAA memberships

I felt like this was enough from reading the forums before filing, but now I'm worried about RFEs since we hardly included everything we could have. we have the same predicament! i was interviewed last aug 29, and i am still waiting for my visa. last sept 4 delbros texted me that in 2-3 days my visa will arrive but it still hasnt arrived yet!

the US government is very particular on the health of those ppl seeking for a US visa esp for residential purposes.. this exam seeks for the presence of the tubercle bacilli, the one that causes tuberculosis..

Sorry you didn't see my many post on taking a early medical. Sputum test normally takes 3 days. Why are you missing your interview?



there are 2 ways of doing the sputum exam.. the 3 days that u are talking about is referring to a sputum smear, the 2 months is called a sputum culture.. that works in 2 different ways.. my interview was supposed to be on june 19. but my culture results will be out on aug21.

Go back to the embassy and get it corrected. My visa also had a mistake and I asked the embassy to correct the mistake. Otherwise, Congs on getting the visa and Good Luck!

Am sorry about the divorce. Well if you have already filed for naturalisation, let the process go on and appear for the interview and if you are divorced by then then tell him or her ( interviewing officer). The ten year green card cannot be taken away from you because of the divorce. Also if you have been married for three years by the time of the divorce, it is likely that the interview will be approved even if you are already divorced by the time of the interview. The requirement for naturalisation through marriage is the three year marriage.
Even if you are not approved at the interview, you will only have to wait two extra years and naturalise by yourself. (If your naturalisation is not based on marriage you wait five years instead of three.)

My husband is now a Permanent Resident. We've moved to a new state, and we filled out the AR-11 and submitted it online. Are we supposed to recieve notification that they have received it, and do I also need to submit a change of address form being I am his wife (I am a US Citizen). Any help would be appreciated!!

We just recieved my husband's Biometric's appointment letter for 8/21/08. Does this mean we won't have to re-interview? How long after biometrics is the 10 year green card received?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCustoms issues - coming back into the USA
Has anyone ever had any problems coming back into the USA with an expired green card and the one year extension letter? My husband and I went to the UK a month ago to visit friends/family and had no problems coming back. He went back to the UK for 5 days without me and coming back in thru JFK they pulled him aside - in a nasty way and questioned the heck out of him! They even went as far as to question his extension letter saying it could've been fake. They kept him about 20-30 minutes. Good thing he had an hour and a half layover! Is there anyway to complain about how they treat those that have all of the proper documentation?? He's afraid to travel anywhere until the 10 year green card comes - and that's probably not until July at the slow rate they are moving!
