My fiancee just got her visa yesterday and said they stamped the visa onto her passport. I always thought that a visa is a seperate piece of paper. Everyone else got theirs stamped onto the passport also?

it's like a sticker they placed on the passport.

Yes it is printed in one page of the passport.

My Fiancee went to the doctor today for her medical, They told her she might have lung tuberculosis. she isnt coughing and doesnt have a feaver. I still plan to go to vietnam but she will not be comming back with me. if she does for sure have TB then i will move to vietnam. but this is all worst case. at best she will get approved for her visa but she will have to wait 2 months until they know for sure if she has TB or not. her interview is the 12th of August and we still plan to go. I understand the TB is curable. so we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Just wanted to give you a heads up.

I hope everything goes well with you both. Yes it is curable. star_smile.gif

Asia: East and PacificVietnam - Time to Visa
QUOTE (ppb @ Aug 17 2009, 10:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks for the replies. I keep hearing from lawyers that it'll take 1 - 1/2 years for the CR-1, and about 6-9 months for the K-3.

I'm 99% sure I'm going for the CR-1, unless the K-3 is guaranteed to be significantly quicker.

I guess I'll just have to make more trips over there instead of opting for the K-3.

Go for a CR-1. I am not going to use my K1 and I am going to start the process for a CR-1, I can't wait for adjustment of status for looking for a job.

It takes less time. All that a lawyer wants is to take your money. good.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)RFE processing time
I have the impression that Vermont does this different, we responded for the documents requested and they gave to it 60 days for answering, the 60 days already pass and now they say that I have to wait until the end of this month that is the 6 months timeframe.

I am sick of VERMONT.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC is weird! Is this a form of discrimination?
I don't know how you write the dates in your country but remember that dates on English are this format: month-day-year. Here in my country is day-month-year. So I had to invert the order of day and month in order to have the info correct when you call them.

I drove by the NVC last night, Friday Nov 14th at about 10pm. The parking lot was packed and the lights were blazing inside. About 6 weeks ago they hired another 20 people and I think they are gearing up for a huge push in processing.

I will be driving past there today and will let you all know if they are there working today on a Saturday.

I called the NVC yesterday and they gave me a case number. When I entered it in the automated system today, the recording says "Case number not found", so I called back and this time put in the USCIS receipt number as it prompted me to do and it says "Receipt number not found" What does this mean? Im not ready to speak to a representative because I just called yesterday and got the case number... Just curious.... Thank you!

You filed a K1. I was told by NVC that they dont put K1's in the phone system because they are there only a short time... You have to speak to a cust. rep for info regarding your K1.

1-Yes, true K1 is faster than K-3, start saving proof of the relationship, so that you both can support the application.

On the other hand, next time don´t write everything in CAPS, as per US grammar rules you are yelling when you type this way.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 vs K-3 , which is better?
QUOTE (Chamy and Gatita @ Mar 17 2008, 05:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Saludos Amigos~
We are trying to decide which is better for us, K-1 or K-3. Any input would be great; I've spent hours reading this website and a thousand others, but I'm still not clear. You wonder how current a lot of info is.
Here is our story:
- me, US
--him, Ecuadorian, has passport, no visa, ie cant get a tourist visa to visit
-met Dec 2007. i was in Ecuador on a kayaking trip, he is a raft guide. Spent one week together.
-Feb 2008, i returned to Ecuador, spent almost the whole month with him.
-Feb 2008, im back in the US now, within a few days of being apart we realize we dont need to look any further. let get hitched!

Im hearing that the fiance visa is taking slightly less time (a few weeks) less the spouse visa. Is this accurate?

One lawyer I emailed says he is getting visas in 6 months, the processing times on USCIS look like 7 months, and the lawyer I paid $200 for a consult says current times are a year for spouses and a 1.5 yrs for fiances. Who is correct?

Also, a lawyer told me the fiance visa can be denied if they think its a sham, but they cant pull that with the spouse visa. Since we obviously had a very brief courtship (although we can document emails, phone calls, an expensive and long return trip, photos, as well as all my Learn Spanish type books and cds purchased after we met) I'm a little worried about going with the fiance visa. Can anyone advise- will our short courtship throw a flag? If so we are prepared to marry in Ecuador asap and start the K-3 instead.

On the other hand, we want to be be together soon! I'm 38, he's 37, and we want to start having kids asap. (Remember that line from that movie with Marisa Tomei... my CLOCK is TICKING?? :-)

Pros (?) WE ARE: same age, same interests, didn't meet thru internet or marriage service (no offense to anyone i dont know if this is a pro or not), I make enough money and I happen to carry a badge (maybe that will make me look more law abiding and less likely to attempt a sham marriage?), no drugs, no police records, no prior marriages or kids..... what else is important? He has some pretty sweet references- the mayor of his town, lawyers, and his state and national political representatives.

Hope this is neither too much no not enough detail to get a few good responses. Im posting this on the K1 and K3 forums. THanks everyone, have an awesome day!
Kathie

You mentioned you both have prove that you have met, pics, air ticket and so on, this is all what really matter.

Yes fiance visa is taking a couple of months.

What lawyer say to you is the same that you can do by yourself, just sitting and reading here a couple of hours and printing the guides. Anyway the lawyer said the truth to you. Just document every thing that you do for your b/f so you can have written proves. (Black and white) (ink) whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

Go ahead and fill out your papers and everything is going to be ok. Trust me good.gif good.gif

We are all a big family here and we support each other.

For those who wanted to know how to get ahold of an officer at VSC... here it goes... i encourage all of you to do the same thing Paris did. but PLEASE!!!

GET THE DAMN OFFICER ID and NAME and just in case 2-3 months from now, people can come back to this website and write a "Officer## told me this, officer # told me this, officer # told me this... etc and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED! So what is the truth" letter to their congressmen, Ombudsman, whoever... When all of us VSC filers write letters like that people start thinking a little differently, you're no longer a distressed, frustrated SO, now you have proof, dates and facts that match up with what your're claiming.

Just in case...
Please use these steps to get connected directly to an immigration officer at the VERMONT SERVICE CENTER. call after 10am and before 4:30pm

Call the 1-800 number.

Option 1,
Option 2,
Option 2,
Option 6,
Option 1,
ENTER I129F (K3) receipt number
Option 1,
Option 3, Wait for "If our system"
Option 4,

this will connect you to an officer at VSC

Then grill them for information AND POST!

I called right now at 1:33 Dominican Republic time and talked to Jessy Official G649391, she didn´t tell me anything new. She said that I have to wait the 60 days for the approval since I got a RFE. mad.gif I knew that. wacko.gif

Me and my wife have been discussing the "moving" of her and the baby to the capital sometime in September-Early Oct (in hopes of living nearer the consultate + much cheaper flights to the capital). Will this affect the Interview in any way, will this affect where her passport is delivered after approval of the visa? Would it be a good idea to acquire the POLICE REPORT before she moves?

Moving to the capital close to the consulate is going to hurt your pocket, rent an apartment/house close to that area is very expensive.

No, it is not going to affect on any aspects, since you haven't received your NOA2, All what you have to do is to inform USCIS her new home address so they can deliver the packet once you get approval and later on the passport when she get the visa approved.

The police report has to be requested where you have lived last 6 month. The Procuraduria located in La Feria is the one that is providing the police reports now, close to the Passport offices.

Where does she live now??

My husband and I are going crazy. This waiting game is no fun to play. We sent our I-130 and I-129F, and now the real waiting begins....

It was hard to be apart when we were gathering papers, finding answers, spending late night hours checking and re-checking our paperwork.

Now, with all the papers done and nothing to do but wait......

Not good, soooo not good.

I would love some input here....

What do you all do to pass this time without loosing your mind???

I have watched every movie I own (impressive collection) twice
I have learned to crochet
I have cleaned every closet in the house
I have spent countless hours online keeping up to date on Brad and Angelina story

Nothing is working here......

I am from Burma. After living for years in USA, I just become US citizen. I have a girl friend that recently has a chance to escape from Burma to Thailand with her Burmese passport.

I was never been able to go visit Burma to meet her before and although after receiving the US citizenship. I believe everyone in the world knows about Burma regime and their heartless abuses to Burmese people. After the so many ways of trying, she reached Thailand where has a lot more humanities than Burma.

I am now urgently looking for a way to bring her to USA. My plan was to go Thailand, marry her there, go see US Embassy as necessary, and bring her here.

Can you advise me the steps and requirements to do so, please?

Thank you.

yea but it even says on the SDQ consulates web site that "based on your medical history the physician will determine which vaccines are needed..." So if they come with a vaccine history they'll be better off...

Hey... YMR... where should i tell her to get the Police Certificate... i heard that it wasnt really at the Policia Nacional but instead the DGII or Procuraduria or some ####### like that... you know how cops and buscones lie to get one dollar over there..

She has to go to the Postal Office at La Feria the Procuraduria is running the process inside if the postal office building. The process is quick, she will get it same day. There is not buscones there, she would have to do that by herself. She has to bring the cedula, 1 pic and RD$330 pesos. Certificate is issued same day.
