On February 12, we will be departing to the US. What should we expect once we get to our POE in Detroit and what documents will they ask for?

Also, her parents and her brother will apply for a tourist visa after we leave and we know that they have a pretty good chance of getting it since their only reason to go is to witness their ONLY daughter's wedding. Besides the wedding invitation and a copy of Faith's visa, what else should we provide them for their interview? Thank you.

Sincerely,

Kits & Faith

They have to provide a lot of documentations and proves that they are coming back and are not going to stay with your fiance there in US. A good way for them to prove they are coming back is showing the following at the interview.

Bank letter with the a good amount of money in it. Better if it is an old account, not a new one because they are going to know it was open with the purpose of going to the Consulate.

Land or house titles if they have some property in their country

Car titles if they have

Employment Letter

Birth Certificate showing that they are the parents of her

Her documents that you mentioned.

The fact that she is going to get married doesn´t mean an approval for getting a visa.

Good luck good.gif

Hello Everyone ! I am seeking information that will help me before I go to see my fiance . I will be filing for the K - 1 Fiance Visa . I will be meeting my future bride in May 2008 and filing paperwork as soon as I return . My question is this : What information should I take to her when I go to Cebu so I do not have to be mailing her anything . I would rather deliver her that in person so there is no mistakes .
Good Luck to everyone and thanks in advance for your help . Terry

Download the G-325 and I-129F forms and you will see what you need to bring from there.

Maybe she can requests the birth certificate and get the divorce decree if she had been married before. If she has kids to get the birth certificate too. Also, she can contact a translator for translating the documents mentioned before.

Be sure to take a pictures of you too together and keep all receipts of the places that you both visit. Good Luck.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-230 form

IMO, if the Discharge Record is available, then he should by all means try to get it.

If the discharge record is not available, then YOU will need to address this 'lack' in a letter of attestation or affadavit stating WHY the document is not available for NVC processing. NVC will probably accept the letter, but it is up to a visa officer at HCMC, both PRIOR to and ON Interview Day, to 'make a determination' on the 'validity of the reason' for the 'abscence of discharge papers'.

OTOH - what the heck do I KNOW?

I'm just shooting in the dark here. with 'general' advice.

YOU will most likely get a BETTER answer in the VN Forum over at http://www.visajourn...p?showforum=136

Good Luck !!

Hi all! I am so glad I found this site... I'm a little shaken & nervous after reading the beginning guides...There is so much involved and I am amazed at what people have to do in order to be with their foriegn loved one home.

I found this site while I was trying to find info on bringing my man here. Well, I found that I can't file until we actually meet. We had initially planned on meeting the first part of April, but they are making him get a visa due to a traffic violation 20 some yrs ago. This is requiring a police report. I noticed he will need a police report also when we file either K-1 or K-3, should he get more than 1 copy of that report? how many?

Also We thought it would be faster for a Spouse visa, but it looks like the Fiance visa is faster... I will be looking at timelines here as time permits but I'm not sure what all this terminology means yet, so I'd also like to hear from you directly with your thoughts on this. I welcome any friends who would take me under their wings to help us, we appreciate anything you give us.

Also Is there anything else we should be doing as we await our first meeting?
What can we do to prepare?

oh and I saw something about me needing to meet poverty level guidelines (or something of that nature) where can I find out if I meet that requirement? I need to make enough money!!!!!!!?????!!!!!! Is there anything else that important that we should know about? What are some of your shoockers?

thanks you all, I am thankful to know there are others here, what a blessing!!!!

Welcome you found the best website over the net.

Your answer are in the guides, they are your best friend.

Maybe the NVC finished with it two weeks ago. It may not yet have arrived in Bogota, as it can take a month sometimes because they wait for a batch of completed cases before sending a packet. In Bogata, it can take another 2-3 weeks to process into their system.

Where is Bogata? My lawyer that I retained there said something about me receiving a packet, can you tell me what she is talking about?

Bogota is located in Colombia, don't worry it will take a while until you get the package.

It is called instruction packet, it is just the forms you have to fill out to bring them to the interview, the letter for going for the medical examination at Clinica Abreu and the same letter is for paying the visa fees at Banco Popular.

hello again,
I just want to know how much longer it will take for my fiance to get the packet from the Embassy since they got it 2 weeks ago from the NVC. Please help me. Thanks again

If you take a look at the Processing Times (here on VJ) - it takes a LONG time to get an interview from the Embassy/Consulate in DR. (180-230 Days on average).

http://www.visajourn.../stats.php?cfl= (scroll down to see DR)

http://www.visajourn.....Santo Domingo (DR Embassy Section here on VJ).

Why does it takes so long?

It is a busy embassy with the lot of fakes marriages and so on, they take their time. The package takes around 2 month to arrive to the person that is going for the interview. They use the DR post office services. It is some kind of slow.

You will receive a packet with the letter and instructions for going to Clinica Abreu for medical examination for the visa. You will get the letter for paying visa fees at Banco Popular and the forms that you have to fill out for the consular interview.

The package will arrive to your thru the dominican post office. Don't worry it won't get lost, the Embassay has a contract with them for delivering the packages on time. If you need more info send me a private message.

Has anyone carried wedding albums to interview? Are they really required or just the marriage photos will do?

the interview window hole is too small, the wedding album won´t fit there. Carry some of them by hand together with other documentation.

Ok, long story short. Been with my guy for 4 years, hes from pak, met him online when he lived in England to study. Went 3 times to England to meet him, went to Pak in November for wedding. His mom knows, his one brother knows. His other brother, sister, father and family n friends are NOT AWARE of this relationship. I know it sounds bad, but because of his conservative family, we decided not to tell them until he got his visa, so maybe they would understand better. This is NOT a fraud marriage, but after reading EVERYTHING on VJ, I realized how bad this looks. Wedding pics only have us n his mom, brother and couple friends, they look so bad now that I think abt it. My question is, what is the chances they will ask about the pics? Will they ask abt his family knowing abt the relationship? How do we answer? It is pretty much out of the question, but do I try to persuade him to have another wedding, with everyone aware, let the cat out of the bag? Im trying to decide whats more important now, chances of getting refused or upsetting his family? How do I prepare for all this? Please don't ask why we didn't tell his family, his dad had a stroke, and hes sick, and his family wouldn't understand. I know alotz of u have experience with all this so I'm begging for ideas. If we decide we cant tell his family, what do we say in the interview? I've heard horror stories of FIELD INVESTIGATIONS and such. With the grace of ALLAH you will all pitch in and advise me, I'm alone, helpless, confused and lost. Thank you....

yes, they go thru FIELD INVESTIGATION and they don't say that they work for the Consulate or anything related to the Embassy they say that they are doing the investigation for a job that the person applied for. Yes, it was a bad decision to keep that in secret.

If you are K1 they normally don't fill out DS 230. Maybe your consulate is different as some are. K1s normally fill out DS 156, DS 156K and DS 157.

USCIS is not the boss of the Consulate. Embassies, Consulates, USCIS, and other US gov are under the same level.

There are administratives offices in Washington where the bosses are. US Congress is in charge of providing the funds for the work they have to do day by day.
