IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAugust Interview

Hi all,

Our case was closed on June 4th. I called NVC one time after the second week of June and NVC told me they have not scheduled my wife interview date.
They said the Embassy was backed up and that we didn't make the June or July interview dates. They told me may be we will make the August interview dates.
However, I believe NVC is just covering themselves with that statement. I have recieved the email today saying my wife will be interviewed on August 6!
So, for all of you who is waiting, NVC works pass the second week of each month setting up interview dates.

The last thing I would mention is not to bog them down with calls...it will only delay the process.
Call once or twice because as you probably know, it takes several tries to get through.

Amazingly the visa process as been pretty speedient for me...just make sure you read the instructions and submit the require documents.

Congratulations....

Join us on the August 2010 interviews thread.... and share our experiencies together...

see ya...

Category:
DS230 PACKAGE

My stupid RFE was:
proof of the DS2019 form of the J1 visa... wich I dont have..

What I learned:
keep all your papers in a safe place even if this was from 2005.. I am hating NVC so much now..
what I would do?? I have request a letter from my sponsorship program which will certifed that I applied for a J1 visa in 2005 receive it and works in USA ..I will add a copy of the Visa itself and the entry to USA and returned to Dom Rep.. according to the operator this should be fine.. I will add a letter of myself explaining why I dont have the Form DS2019

Middle East and North AfricaI am worried
QUOTE (skerber0 @ Apr 24 2009, 10:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I know I probably should not be worried, but Wed when he was training he hurt his back. He went to the doctor and they said he needed to rest for a day and gave him some kind of medicine. Well, we talked yesterday afternoon for a while he seemed to be moving around well (we were on webcam), but he was going to train and meet me back online at 8pm. He did not come online nor was I able to get him by phone and I still have not heard from him. It is totally possible he went to sleep, but normally he still answers my calls when he is sleeping. I am just worried he might have gotten really hurt or something. Ugg, I am such a worry wort. sad.gif

There isn't somebody else in the family that you can call. It is good to have somebody else phone number just in case. I hope you can get good news soon. star_smile.gif

Middle East and North AfricaHow can you marry in Egypt?
QUOTE (B U T T E R F L Y @ Jul 1 2009, 08:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have a friend who is a USC & is engaged to a man from Egypt. She is going to visit him in a month & a half. During her stay there, they plan to marry. What are the steps you need to take as a USC to marry in Egypt? (By the way, she is divorced & has children.) I would REALLY appreciate any help I can get because I'm ONLY familiar with the steps taken for a K-1 Visa. innocent.gif

Thanks!!! good.gif

K1 visa is for a single couple.

If she marry in Egypt then she would have to apply for other type of visa. Google it. http://marriage.abou...nal/p/egypt.htm

Thanks for ALL your help guys!!!! I dunno if this is the first time they are meeting or not. I thought it would be rude to ask. I just promised I'd do my best to try & get some information to help her & that's it. good.gif My friend was desperate to find an answer for this & I didn't know how to help her because I'm not marrying IN Egypt. I, too, am marrying an Egyptian, but in the US using a K-1 visa. So as you can see, when she asked me for help marrying in Egypt I went blank huh.gif because I don't know the steps for that here. I've only researched the process of marrying in the US. Anyway, thank you for all you help! Hey Niels Bohr.... THANKS for telling me to check with the Egypt Ministry of Foreign Affairs! biggrin.gif I was able to find A LOT of information for her there! good.gif Now, one last question... which visa should the file for? Should the file for IR-1 or CR-1? Is it the same thing? I read some stuff a little while ago about the k-3 visa & DCF. From what I read DCF sounded BETTER than IR-1/CR-1, but then again I see TONS of people on here who are married prefer to file for IR-1 / CR-1. Why is that???? I'm sooooo confused! rofl.gif The K-1 process is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much less complicated!!!! Thanks for your help, guys.

CR-1= conditional residence for couple married less than 2 years.

IR-1=inconditional resicence for couple married for more than 2 years.

Under CR and IR the foreign get permission to work in less than one month once he/she gets into US

For K1 you have to marry and wait around 6 months.

Tell your friend to come here and read the guides they are very helpulf. good.gif

I didn't read the guides, and I didn't know the difference when I became member here. We figured out about the CR-1 visa too late. If I would have the chance to do everything again I would do it this way= CR1. whistling.gif I have to work as soon as I can when I get there. star_smile.gif

QUOTE (Marina-Del @ Jul 1 2009, 09:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
People can only file DCF if they meet the residency requirements. Does your friend live in the US or Egypt?

She lives in US

If she lives in Egypt than she *might* be able to file DCF which is a lot faster. If she lives in the US, the she CANNOT file for DCF and has to do the CR-1 visa (because they have been married less than 2 years).

Just read the guides for this visa (or print them out for her) and that should get you going.

And FYI: I highly doubt the K-1 is easier than these other visas. No, it is not easier.

Think back to when you first started to file the K-1, it's really confusing too.....but now it seems easier because you've done lots of research on it. Once your friend does research on the CR-1 you'll find it's really quite similar and where it's different it's not harder, it's just different.

My husband called VSC today to check if our application was okay. They told him that for immigration visa, it might take up to 9 months since they are working with the file from last year. I feel so sad and I don't even know if I should believe what VSC said. I am speechless at this point because it seems like this will take forever. sad.gif

Every day Vermont has a new excuse for not doing what they are suppose to do. I don´t trust them.
