Has anyone done this on their own, or is ti better to pay someone to do it. I was planning translating these on my own, and then getting them notarized saying that im a competent translator. Would that be enough?

I would like to do the same, but I would like to see a sample for Dominican Republic birth certificate. They wanted to charge me US$100.00 for translating 2 bc.

All the checks are done on the beneficiary??!!

The beneficiary has FBI checks.

You don't think the FBI just keep records which are just crime related do you. However the beneficiary is also checked to see if they have a criminal record in the US. People commit crimes when a visitor and just because someone says they have never been to the US doesn't mean they are telling the truth now does it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the beneficiary will be from outside the US so will be getting a police check relevant to their country (eg mine is a National Police Records check from Australia and fingerprints)

The FBI check relates to USCs doesnt it?

Yes, it is for USC only. I am asking because we are blowing up a K1 and going for a CR1 and I wanted to know if he is going to get a new FBI name check.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSecondary evidence of marriage for Interview in India for CR1 visa
QUOTE (hmehta @ Aug 12 2009, 10:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,
This is my first post on this forum, so please forgive me if this question has been asked before. My wife is in Ahmedabad, India. We had a court marriage last year in Nov 2008. I filed all the necessary papers to bring her here on CR1 visa. Now, we didn't have a traditional marriage because of lack of time. We just had an engagement and had a court marriage. Now, for the interview, they are asking for marriage pictures, wedding invitation, etc. Is that really required? I do have records of emails, call details. Would that be sufficient? My wife in India, asked some visa agent and he said that our pictures won't be sufficient because of some Hindu marriage law. Is that true? We are freaking out about this. Did anyone have this situation for the Mumbai interview? My wife's interview is on Aug 31, 2009.

Thanks for your help.

I am wondering why you didn't take even 1 or 2 pictures, yes pictures are required by the CO sometimes. If you don't have it, explain to the CO that you don't have them because of lack of time while you were there.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Girlfriend is a Filipina and Nurse
QUOTE (Chris Bates @ Jun 30 2009, 01:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello to all the members in this site!

I'm still new to this and so I earnestly wish that I could get the best replys that would help me concerning me and my girl.

My girlfriend is a Filipina and just took the local board exam in the Philippines and is currently waiting for the results. I have known her through a friend, in August 2006. She was studying on her nursing degree still. I went personally to see her last February 2007- that was the first time; back in September 2008 for the 2nd time and my third visit was February of this year. So our relationship is almost 3 years now! And I feel so honored, blessed and happy to have her in my life! For the past 3 years we had, our love for each other has grown so deep and highly valued.

We waited so long before we could finally be together since we both wanted that she would finish her nursing degree. Now that she has graduated, our plan of getting together has finally arrived.

However, we are confused as to what visa would best fit to her. Would it be the K1 visa or a work visa since she is a nurse? Can anyone help me regarding this matter? Can there be any advise that you can suggest?

Thank you for reading this and would greatly appreciate your responses. God bless!

You have a couple of choices

K1 a fiance visa
K3 spouse visa (you can marry in Filip)
Read the guides and you will find the diferences.

Work visa??? She is not comingo here for working with a company, she is coming here to marry you or to live with you then file for working permit and later on she will be able to work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 by mail - how ?
Hi,

They drop it in the house mailbox. You both have to wait for the NOA1 because if you call to the Service Center they need the case number that comes in the letter (form) that you will receive. Without that number there is no way the Visa Center can track the application.

Try to go to online case status and track the progress, if it was cancelled when you sent the letter it should read cancelled in the system if not try calling to the customer service line and find out, with the case number they will be able to give you a final response on this. Good Luck.

Yet, from what I read here on VJ, it seems they still do endorse the checks and send them back. What is their current practice? Is everyone still getting their endorsed checks returned to their banks?

Just curious......thanks!

They endorse the checks and send them back.

Maybe they are implementing new procedures and now requesting do EFT, it is easier and faster for them. I work for an accounting department and it is the preferred method of payment.

When my fiance has his visa interview in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico- will the official interviewing him speak English, or Spanish??

Consular officers take 3 months of class (full day), before moving from one country to other in order to learn the language of the new country where there are going to be assigned.

They have to know both language, they are able to read, understand and speak Spanish and English. If they are confused about expression and so on, they go to the local staff locally hired working at the consulate and get clarification/translation with them.

Don´t worry about that. innocent.gif

Thanks for your help.

You have to save the letters and emails for the interview when it comes. If they are in Spanish you have to pay to a translator for that job, they don´t allow translation from one of the parties involved in the process.

Don´t worry about translating them now. Good luck.

My question is, do you think we have enough time for everything to be done during this period? Or if not, is there anyway to speed the process.
Thans for all your sugestions, and good luck to everyone

Your fiancee would have to go back because the interview would be in the foreign country, not in Moscow.

Since Vermont Service Center is famous for being faster i think you both are on track.

No, there is not way to speed the process. K-1 visa petition doesn´t have speed services.

after he sent a package of documents and many pictures ......to the lawyer and paid the attorney fees all communications from the lawyer have stopped. He doesn't answer emails, messages and he doesn't answer the phone calls.
my fiancée lives in North Carolina and we will hire an immigration lawyer from Massachusetts and she will not meet him in person . we will just send our documents to him and we will pay to him by credit card or money order ...
i have been thinking maybe we can him to send us a copy of his license or his ID
we checked his name in yellow page and stuff like that and we talked to him several times and he sound so good man
so my question is how can we make sure he is a good lawyer and he wont do the same to us???!!
i will appreciate your advice helpsmilie.gif

Why you don´t ask to her to join us here in this wonderful forum?. If she does that, she will see that there is not necessary to spend money on that. I don´t think lawyers are necessary at all. Tell to her that money can be used for the weeding or buying stuffs when you get there since you will not be able to work at the beginning.

Living in the US, I'm used our addresses here, but my fiancée has an address like this (not posting the real address...adjusting for privacy wink.gif )

Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe, San Jose, Costa Rica

Now I can figure out what to do with the San Jose and the Costa Rica part. I assume I just put the "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" as the address? Do I put the casa # as the apartment number?

When I mail her packages via UPS, i just put the "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" as the whole address and since it doesn't all fit, I put the "Ipis, Guadalupe" on the second line of the address. Somehow, magically, all my packages get to her, but this is a bit more important than what I mail her and I want to make sure I get it right. I'm going to have space problems fitting "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" on the I-129F form and probably any other forms we need to fill out when typing into the forms.

I'm so confused on this. Hopefully someone here has dealt with an address similar to this and can help me. smile.gif

Thanks in advance,
Joshua

I am in Dominican Republic, here address are like in Costa Rica. You have to write same way in the application form, you can write it on hand with a black pen. If you don´t write her full address the Consulate in her country won´t be able to contact her for sending the packet 3 when you get the approval.

In general address are different than in US. Good Luck

While I can't really speak on the current condition of VSC or CSC (we're at the medical then interview stage) it should be noted that they basically rejected the chocolates that were sent to them.

They gave a "Thanks but we can't accept this" reply to the girl who sent them, and yeah.

So I doubt that had anything to do with any increases in their productivity.

There is a regulation that reads: Gov employees can´t accept gifts from nobody. I didn´t say anything but I was sure they would reject them. Vermont Service Center is fast maybe they use other way of reviewing the petitions or maybe it is just a way of keeping their reputation of being faster than other Centers.

As far as I know the work visa is difficult to get, one of the requirements is that you have exceptional skills that the company hasn´t been able to find in the county (this case in US), copies of the newspapers add that the position was published, you have to prove that you have your university degree. K1 visa is easier than Work Visa, trust me. unsure.gif wacko.gif

If your fiance's family can't get a visitor visa you will have to get married without them being there. You could always have a second ceremony in the Phillipines once she has her green card (or AP). My hubby's family couldn't attend so my dad recorded our wedding and we sent them the dvd and photos.

It was a good idea about recording the wedding.

Yes, there is not way they can attend to the wedding unless they have visitor visa on their own or showing to the consular officer enough ties to come back and also they are financially stable to afford the trip.
