Telemarketers have become a lot more pushy.

One just called from ADT security asked for my husband, I said he wasn't here. They asked if there was another decision maker in the house, and I asked what it was about. They said ADT security, I said I wasn't interested, thanked them and hung up. Then she calls back.

Really?

She asks for my husband again. I said: "He wasn't here 5 seconds ago and he still isn't here, we're not interested" and she says: "I don't want to speak to you, I want to speak to Mike."

So I said: "B1tch I don't want to speak to you either, I want to talk to your supervisor"

She hung up.

Lol friggin ballsy, I love your response haha

I know I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm an only child.

Haha I'm actually thankful for my older bro, I was quite the arsehole through high school and stuff and he beat the living ####### outta me which luckily also beat out those tendencies hahaha.

Which reminds me, I think I should've done the same to my younger bro cause WOAH sometimes

And then there's my husbands parents business. I've been working for them for free for months. I don't do it for 40 hours a week and I pretty much come in and help when I want, but I'm there at least 3 out of the 5 working days and every single Saturday. They pay me a little once and a while when they want, but I haven't been paid anything for over a month. If I don't go help then I don't want to be part of the family and see the business succeed, but when I do come they don't want to pay me to be there. Then there is my SIL who recently dropped out of college. They hired her on full time and pay her for working full time hours when she doesn't even do much. I feel stuck in this situation. Its also sad that I really wouldn't mind working for them if they would pay me like a normal employee. I need to get the courage up to have a serious conversation with them I guess.

Is there any chance your husband could say something to them to help out? I've found that sometimes the way people are raised and stuff are so different that these kinds of talks can be really rough. He'll know how to word everything as he's been around them forever to hopefully get something changed where everyone would be happier :)

So looking at buying homes, and what we can afford in Mount Laurel compared to what we could afford if we lived in Media PA, or something... is insane. Here we will be able to afford a condo, there is a 9 bedroom house we could afford in Media!

Not that I would need or want a 9 bedroom but the comparison is crazy!

Unfortunately I don't have the heart to uproot Ethan again and move him to another school. I don't want him to live the life I did when I was a kid of moving every 2 years so we're staying in Mount Laurel. We may consider the idea of leaving Mount Laurel when he gets into high school and he can go to an arts high school which is what he is talking about too.

I am just floored by the price differences and what you can get just a half hour away.

Lol When my wife was looking at houses and stuff it was INSANE how much the property prices differ around here too. Of course it helps that with like $50,000 someone could buy a mansion in Detroit, well that is if no one set it on fire, stripped all the copper wiring out, or spray painted a bunch of racist ####### on it first haha.

Honestly, there's little that can be done. I know many of us have faced this.

As the Canadian, I was constantly bombarded with questions as to why I couldn't give an exact date of quitting my job, moving, marrying, etc. Why I needed an employment letter each time I tried to cross the border. Why I wasn't planning some extravagant wedding. Why I wasn't getting married in Canada at all.

I did my best to give them a peek into the ridiculous process, so at least maybe they could try to understand. Some did, others just scoffed with a "well that can't be, you're doing something wrong then." People will be people.

Just take heart in the fact that WE all certainly understand. :)

Lol I think I got lucky as my dad went to the lawyer's office with me from the very beginning when we were researching the steps to take. He really loves to talk and I'm pretty sure before I showed up at family functions and stuff that he made their ears bleed with the explanation of how long it really does take.

It was quite odd that while my family understood that the process took a long time, none of my friends ever really asked about it but somehow still thought that I was doing it "the long way" or something.

Whenever I'd get frustrated with that my dad would always joke and say he'd rent a boat for me in Detroit and I could just go cruising across the river and pick up my wife in Canada and bring her back for the night hahaha.

At least the person you are talking about is asking questions! lol Many people have been given lots of wrong info! Soo many still think if ya marry a USA citizen, u get automatic entry! I feel bad for the ones that do come here and ask, then get a rough time! lol

Lol Oh I'm glad the questions are asked and I'm glad that she got off the illegal way so quickly. It just always surprises me when it just seems the person is waiting for someone to pat them on the back and tell them doing it the wrong way is okay or that anything in this funky process is a sure thing.

I remember when my wife and I went to Montreal I thought it was in the bag and then it felt like a stern kick square to the left fig when we were denied Lol. People need to know that every part of this process has the potential to suck royally haha.

Ya know what I hate, trying to clean the house and find our winter clothes in storage, and rather than getting to the task, my husband takes it as his opportunity to go on a stroll down memory lane opening every box up like its Christmas and nostalgiatizing about every single item. Its 11:15 and we've only made it through 3 boxes, none of which contain winter clothes. And now, he's found his High School letterman jacket. God help me. This is going to take all day. :crying:

Haha Here come the Al Bundy/Homer Simpson high school memories flooding back to the poor guy. You might walk in and he'll be doing a one-man keg stand lol

Lol I often wonder when reading some questions if people actually think that everyone else just simply over-looked the easier solution.

Question: "Can I visit the USA for the entire K-1 or CR-1 process, go back to get my medical and interview, then just move right back over?"

Answer: "6 months blah blah hard to prove ties blah blah typical information that everyone rocks at giving here that makes it PAINFULLY simple to know it varies and should be careful, prepare for the time apart, all that good stuff :) "

Question: "Well then can I just move the the USA, get married, and then file for AOS?"

Seriously do people think that anyone WOULDN'T do it that way if it was nice, legal, and 100% a possibility? ARRRRRRG hehe

I just got a panicked phone call from my last client.

Apparently in the week since I've stopped working for them, they managed to take my elegant solution (which I was very proud of) and break it irreparably.

They aren't even capable of describing what they did to it in a fashion that would let me help them out.

/sigh

Lol Just take it as a compliment that you're too awe-inspiringly powerful for them to interpret your work :)

Yeah well honestly, they must be a bit dim!

The wife was so cranky about the changes and the restaurant (the original) was so awful - that whole thing where he carved the steak tableside was just grossssssss.

Lol maybe we're not refined enough to enjoy the subtle cutting of a $30 steak on a roof tile tableside hahaha.

I watched Kitchen Nightmares (new season for anyone that cares). It was good and strange. It was a family in NJ that had a restaurant called Flamangos (no wyatt, not Flamingos).

It has all this very corny 'tropical' decor, but the people were the clinchers. The Mother was such a stick in the mud whiner.

Lol I watched some of that one yesterday. I never understand that someone who's so against change would call the show to have Gordon show up when you know he's going to change EVERYTHING. Stupid people haha.

This is going to sound like such a stupid vent but I had the worst sleep ever last night. The humpbacks are migrating right now in front of the house, and all night they were flapping their tails and fins. It sounded like a fat-man doing belly flops off the high-dive echoing through the house. I have an interview today and am going to have big bags under my eyes.

Oh the part of having a lack of sleep definitely sucks but what a cool story to tell people about why you couldn't. I couldn't sleep on Monday cause I had a dream where I lived with my wife across the street from zombies and kept waking up to make sure they didn't find out that "alive" people were living across there. I kept waking up and was more and more angry everytime telling myself that I don't even mind zombies that much hahaha.

Ugh. Moving. It's looking more and more like we'll just keep this house and rent up there until we've had a chance to familiarize ourselves with the area. I hate the thought of people moving into my house here. I was cleaning the shower this morning and thinking.... "I KNOW people aren't going to take care of my house like I do!" How do I make them do that? :crying:

Are you by any chance originally from Europe? I find my wife and her mom think EXACTLY like that so was just curious :)

Some people have no %$@&@ common sense or concern for others! Unit 1 over and up for us is putting in hard wood flooring! Sure it will make that unit look nice, BUT for the people directly below them and possibly us, it is really going to be noisy!! I found the page on our condo docs that states no hard wood flooring!!! So scanned that and emailed that to condo pres and to the management co. Not pleased! Maybe it wont cause any excess noise, but that hasn't been my experience in the past regarding hard wood!

Lol Just hope they don't go Mike Meyers in 'Wayne's World' and start playing roller hockey on that bad boy sir haha

Yea I remember in Canada waking up drunk still and going in to work.

Worked in hospitality so it was normal to go out with everyone after work on Friday, get trashed and then get up at 7:00 am to get things moving for a wedding that evening.

Glad those days are over.

And you wouldn't believe how many calls I'd get from staff calling in "drunk", no shame... just telling the truth. They'd get a write up, but they didn't care.

Lol I remember at a job I was at a bar at midnight and knew I wasn't going to make it in the next day so I went outside and tried to call in saying I wasn't feeling good and couldn't sleep. That was going to work just fine until my friend walked behind me and screamed "It's my birthday let's get more shooooooooooooooots!!". Yeah I went into work the next day and was promptly fired hahaha.

As for the washer problems, I totally feel ya there. Our washer tends to do a little shimmy across the floor when too many towels are put in it and it sounds like a sumo wrestler trying to bust a major move in the utility room, scares the garbage out of me haha.

now that i've solved that problem, my vent:

My vent?

That someone just went and took a dump on what was supposed to be an appreciation thread.

Honestly, everyone is truly entitled to an opinion...but when something is clearly supposed to be a positive thread, why would someone go and do that.

I'm just a tad pissed off by that.

Lol You need to relax a bit there, the Montreal Consulate is a VERY sore spot for me and I apologized already :)

Baaah After taking a few years off from playing with my buds in a hockey league (visited wife every weekend in Canada, couldn't be around for the games) I started back up last night. On my first shift, before my second skate even touched the ice jumping over the boards, slapshot goal, minus-1 right off the bat lol. Second shift, took a screamer clean on my left ankle. Lol A few summers ago it rained so much here that a dip in the freeway caused a huge puddle that was about 3 - 4 feet deep. A bunch of cars were stuck but I had a Jeep Commander at that time so I just went around and started driving through to get to my brother's house. Little did I know as I slowly went through that I started seeing little heads pop up out of the water. Some kids were actually SWIMMING in the grossness and their parents were sitting under the overpass with bottles of beer watching them do it. I guarantee at least two of them caught diseases that have not yet been categorized to this day hahaha.
