IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHad my interview today, Affidavit of Support got denied

:ot: :ot: :ot:

Not everyone is cut out for that job... Making such a specific sugestion towards a career choice especially one that requires the kind of sacrifice that a truck driver has to make simply isn't appropriate for an immigration venue.. Truck Drivers work countless hours and 60-70K sounds good to many, but when you consider the sacrifice you make and hours you must work to make 60-70K, it's peanuts.. Being a truck drive is like being a musician, it's something you have to love to do...

That suggestion doesn't get the OP where he needs to be if its something he's gonna hate and eventually give up... It's not a thoughtful suggestion... Like any other career choice, its something you have to want to do..
:bonk:

I simply want ot encourage you.. You've come a long way to get to this point, so dont give up now.. Be creative.. If you need, take on a second job.. You need to show you're earning above the minimum requirement.. You can do that with a current employment as well as your tax returns.. Just think creatively, or as extremerecluse said; "outside the tiny box"..

Kenny

Think of the alternative in the OPs case. No co sponsor. No valid I-134. No significant other coming to the US. No happiness. Absolute Despair. Loneliness. I like the other alternative. This can be a temporary fix. Again, we need to think outside the box. The CO looks at current income and what will they see at the next interview; many pay stubs and letter of employment. This is a slam dunk. Remember that this economy is in the garbage, so beggars cannot be too choosy.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHad my interview today, Affidavit of Support got denied

The officer said we need to find a new one. I'm done with this. I don't have hope someone will help us.

It sounds like you need a good paying job now. Forget begging for co-sponsors. The trucking industry is in desperate need of man power. Don't know what you are doing now. But, it sounds to me like extra income is in order. I suggest you try trucking. You can train with one of the bigger companies, work for them for one year and move on to a better paying company. You will start at around $40,000 depending on miles driven. You will have a job for life. after about four years, you will be averaging 60-70K per year. Only a suggestion. You can start as early as next week if you do some serious investigating. I would try SWIFT Transport. They are the biggest operation in the US now and are always looking for drivers. If you have a decent driving record, no criminal record and a good work history, you will be a good candidate. Good luck. Alaways try to think outside that tiny box.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-134
Does anybody know if each K-2 requires a separate I-134 or is the I-134 for the K-1 with K-2s listed sufficient. According to the USCIS website, each applicant requires an I-134. Does this apply to derivatives of K-1? A little confused.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOLICE CERTIFICATE QUESTION

Hello, newbie here on this site. Applicant is in the Philippines. AOS fee is paid and AOS package is already sent to NVC. IV fee is paid, we're putting together the IV package.

My question would be regarding the police certificate under the "DOCUMENTS REQUIRED" page on NVC.

You can get this certificate thru the National Bureau of Investigation correct? Not from Local Police?

Also, the applicant worked and stayed in KOROR, PALAU from NOV 2005 to MAR 2007. Does this mean she has to get some form of Police Certificate there too?

Any input from anyone with similar situation? Thanks! =)

You are required to obtain police certificates for those countries that the beneficiary had stays of longer than 6 months. Check the reciprocity tables on the State Department websites for each country requirements. The State Department admits that trying to get certain police certificates are impossible, like Saudi Arabia. They will not give it to any expatriate (somebody who was a resident for working purposes as an example like OFW), living outside the Kingdom. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Philippinestip for chest x-ray...

hi. My wife recently just took her medical exam, and thank goodness she passed. And we think we owe it all to sterilized milk! you see, my wife had TB when she was younger (she underwent treatment and is totally fine), and it left a small scar on her left lung. We were so worried that she would have to do a sputum because of the scar. Her mother told us that if you drink milk, it will hide the scar. so my wife drank milk 2 times a day for about a week before our medical exam. and to our amazement, there was no scar on the x-ray!!!! it was incredible!!! so if anyone has the medical exam coming up and are worried about this....... maybe a glass of milk will help you :pop:

Consuming dairy products causes an inflammation process within the body to include the lungs. The human body produces enough mucous to coat any internal surface to protect it from further damage. Mucous coating the linings of the lungs would certainly aid in camouflaging any scarring within the lung. Talk to any dietician and they will say the same thing. Dairy products produce lots of acid which then destroys tissue. Mucous is mother natures way of protecting you from these destructive properties.

I'm getting ready to head back after a month of job searching here in the States. We'll live good on our investment we started last month for sure!

I drove OTR for Schneider ('till I got injured/workers comp) and it could be a good way for someone to earn decent money. My friend's husband just started driving for Swift and he likes it ok, but many of their drivers are sitting and waiting for freight, which could be why I didn't bother applying. My only concern of being a fiance to a K-1 beneficiary is how do you manage all of the 'little things' that must be done on the way (sending money, paperwork) and what not. I do, however, think driving truck was one of the best jobs I've ever had, and if I hadn't been injured I might still be driving for them.

Driving jobs can't be out sourced. You can lay off all the workers in a US manufacturing plant and move over the pond. But you can't do that with the trucking companies. Transportation costs are pretty much fixed. The product always needs to get to market; regardless of where it is produced be it China, Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh etc... Can't dispute what I am saying!!!

To all the guys who are trying to figure out a way to make enough money to qualify through the I-134 and the 125% poverty guidelines in todays' economy. The most stable industry that does not require any advanced skills or training is the TRUCKING INDUSTRY. The bigger companies will send you to school and you will reimburse them over time. If you are worried right now that you might not qualify and need a good paying job right now I hope you are reading this. Starting pay will be around 45K. Training takes 3 weeks followed by around 6 weeks of OJT. This is a slam dunk for those who are desperate and don't have any other skills to obtain other gainful employment. This goes for MEN and WOMEN. My fiance wants to get behind the wheel. Not bad starting out at 45K right out of the gate. I sent her the Federal CDL Manual two months ago and she already has a good command of the material. Just an idea though. Not for everybody as I have already learned through this thread.

OK .. Lets get real. Truck Driving is a skill that requires licenses and pay is determined by time on the road and your record of driving. I'm 49 years old and don't want my finacee to be my escort and company in a truck. If your happy with that and she is then that is fine. I don't think she will like truck stops and peeing on the side of the road when there is no restroom. LOL. I appreciate your comments as I said I listen to everyone of them. Mark, the road can be lonely. Any road. I hope everything goes good for you. Tim

Lets get real? What? I lay out a plan for you to make 3 times the money you will require to qualify to support your fiance and you come back with a comment like that.

My driving record consists of 1 Basic speed law in the past 10 years. No felonys. But a CDL requires Schooling. $$$ Swift Transport generally requires 2 years Over-the-Road Experince just to start. My father just retired from Snitzer. (The Orange Fleet) and drove for years. Painting is to Seasonal I agree. Thanks Kuya. Tell me more

Philippinesschool

Hello guys,

I like to hear your comment on this topic. My fiancee's kid speaks little English. Just few words. He is 6 years old and if he gets approved with his k2, we are planning to bring him to USA this summer. He will need to join school. I am so worried he will not be able to communicate in his class and *maybe* he will have a very touch time understanding the class.

Anyone one out there experiencing the same?

My last thought is to *maybe* do home-school for the first year until we feel his English is good enough to go to a class room.

So many details that we need to think when bringing our SO and their kids. :)

:help:

My ex kids from the Philippines came here before the age of ten ( 4 kids ). They were in the same situation. They learned so quickly. That was in 1985. Now, you would never know that they came from the Philippines from just speaking to them. The quicker you let them loose among their english speaking friends and classmates the better. Don't be shocked when your kid starts to correct your grammar. They will be just fine.

PhilippinesFilipina wife issues....advice please...

Hey all, first my name is Scott...my wife is from the phillipines...we have been together over a year and married. We have her K1 visa and we are about to go back to the United States. I am a US Soldier and stationed in S. Korea....for the past year I have been sending money to her family, but during this time we have been financially struggeling. My wife is now 16 weeks pregnant with our son, which is amazing bc we have been trying for about 6 months...and while trying i told her on many occassions that once she was pregnant money would STOP to her family..but yet she doesnt see it that way.

It all started after we first met and her 4 year old sister needed eye surgery or she would go blind, it was only 300.00 USD so it wasnt that bad, but after that it was her family with their hand out on payday. I delt with it but now i cant because my son's future is at stake.

I was sending 350.00 USD every 2 weeks....totaled 7,500.00 USD in 1 year, and then I sent her home with 3000.00 USD when she went home to visit. She has 9 brothers and sisters, two of the boys being 20 and 21. She is the oldest child.

Last night I made a comment on her facebook about how happy I was we were having a son, i check later and her oldest brother posted "send money home now says momma". Now this made me extremely angry not only did he disrespect my way of life but he posted on my comment about my son with such non-sense.

Today she said she wanted to send 150.00 USD home, I told her no we had discussed last check we would send 100.00 USD every 2 weeks...and thats all. She wont talk to her family about them getting jobs, she just sits quietly and lets them beg and i have to see her upset and crying

This is causing our marriage to be in trouble..I love my wife and will do anything to make her happy...but I cant take this stress anymore...what do i do?!

As of now I am not sending any money to them, and she wont speak to me going on 2 days now....

If she gets you into that FIX then it is she who must get you out of that fix. Responsibility is learned, not taught. Allow her to muck things up for you. Only she will be to blame. She will then learn from these blunders. Keep some money stashed away to be safe. But allow her to do as she wishes and then when you don't have enough money to eat, it will then dawn on her what is her true responsibility. Especially when you get called into your commanders office for bouncing all those checks. Let her learn for herself what could potentially happen.

PhilippinesBeware if you travel alone to the Philippines
Back in October when I traveled to meet my fiance in the Philippines this occurred. I get off the plane around 11:30PM. I go through immigration with no problems. I get my bags. A Filipino I befriended on the plane showed me where to go to exchange money pesos. I exit the terminal and find a security guard at his podium. The guard gets my attention and asks me who is waiting for me. I tell him "my fiance". He asks me what her name is. I tell him. He asks me where she will meet me. I tell him I don't know exactly. He starts to interrogate me. You don't know? Yes. Well do you know her phone number? A: My phone will not work here. Q: You can Get SIM card and load over their. I did as he instructed me. I purchased a SIM Card and load and it did not work after he installed it. More security guards arrived but they were too apprehensive to get involved. My phones battery happened to be dead. The guard instructed me to charge it with the outlet on the wall. I was getting really nervous about this fiasco they were putting me through. The guard then asked me to give him my fiances phone number after the phone was charged enough to work. I showed him the number in my phone memory. He called it and my fiance answered. He asked her where she was and she was 75 feet away waiting outside in the waiting area. The other security guard came to me and asked"What are you going to give to us for helping you? I asked him "What?". Can you give us something? Then I knew what they were out to get from the start. I was too tired to make a stink or complain. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a fresh 500php bill and handed it to them. Plus they kept my SIM Card and Load. The next day I contacted the airport manager and explained what happened through phone and email. I could have easily found my fiance by following the other people out of the terminal, but these corrupt individuals had other ideas in mind. I could not believe what happened as I was resting the following day with my fiance. I am warning all of you who are traveling alone. Find someone on the plane who can walk you through or stay with you until you meet your loved one. The rest of my trip was a pure pleasure.

PhilippinesCR-1 or K-1 - your advice

Hi guys

This is my first post- let me say this forum is awesome.

My name is Ross, I am 26 and so is my girlfriend. I think we are very close to getting engaged (malapidd na), and I am trying to do my homework to make sure we have as smooth a process as possible and also apply for the right type of visa. I'm really thankful that I have spent the last two years getting to know her, and I believe the way we met was planned by God. i have read / heard the horror stories of people just trying to get green cards, etc., and I feel bad for those broken hearts.

We met in august of 2009 while I was working here for 4 months. I left in December of 2009 and visited here twice in 2010 for personal trips to see her. Now, I am back living in Manila right now, and will for the next year + (March 2011 - October 2012). We applied for a visitor's visa (B1) in December of 2009 a few days before I left the first time and she was denied for lack of strong ties. She is young, has a customer service job and no businesses, etc.

With that said, I do not foresee the K1 route being easy because she does not have strong ties.

Therefore I believe getting married here an applying would be the best option (also personally because I want her to have the wedding of her dreams here and my parents and brother can fly over).

I am trying to understand what I can expect for CR-1 processing times and if my affidavit of support will be valid if I am here in Manila. What constitutes your "residence" ?

1) Do you agree CR-1 is the best option for us?
2) How long will CR-1 processing take through Manila Consulate
3) Will my Affadavit of support be valid if my residence is here in the Philippines
4) Any other advice?

Thanks in advance :)
God Bless

If you are a resident their, why not do a CR-1 through the embassy? All is the same but for the time it takes to process (1/2).

PhilippinesNBI Clearance

in my province too. so i am taking the one i got last february 2011. it's still valid till february 2012. I can get one in Manila but i already know i have a "hit" and it will take like 2 weeks. anyway, i just talked to someone i met during my medical at st. luke's. she had her interview last friday and her NBI was dated March 2011 and the consul accepted it.

Going to a Manila NBI office is your quickest route for an update. It is a tedious process, but an absolute requirement.

PhilippinesCrime-Safety-Advice-Pepper Spray

I fly to Manila alone. Today another VJ'er told me four kids circled him once in Manila while his fiancee was with him. The one in the back reached in his pocket and grabbed his leather glass holder out while he was fighting off the three in the front.

He also said that the police will even target you and ask for your passport and might ask for 10,000 peso to give it back.

Does anybody have any other stories ?
I want to carry Pepper Spray but I just read you can't take it in Customs or on checked luggage when flying into Manila. Is this true ?

I didn't have any trouble when I was there but safety is my number one goal and I am just trying to learn. Please share your advice.

When you getting off the plane find someone you can stay with the entire time you are going through immigration and customs. Make sure you stay with these Filipinos until you are within ten feet of your loved one. You are asking for trouble if you think you are in the US. I was accosted by airport security and they got me good. I gave then a load for a cell phone, SIM CARD and 500PHP. I was alone, which was a big mistake. Stay with a large group of Filipinos so they can't zero in on you!!!

Philippinesbest way to ship card and letter
I work for the US Postal Service. You can place your confidence in the USPS. Once the letter is taken from the plane in Manila International, you have no idea what will happen. You pays your money and you takes your chances with the Philippine Postal Service. Usually it is not a problem, but the time frame may be quite long until delivery. Count on at least two weeks for a Manila address and at least 4 weeks for a distant province.

Word of caution!!!!! Don't ever rely on the Philippine Postal Service. I sent a priority box to my fiance 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I posted the items that I had sent to her on the customs declaration form at my local Post Office. The window clerk stated that after the box is released to Philippines Customs, that they had no control over the package. I do not expect my fiance to receive it. She lives in San Ildefonso, so I mailed to one of her family members in Caloocan, thinking it would arrive within two weeks rather than 4 weeks in her town. I have discovered that corruption is the norm within the Philippine Postal System. I had many items that would serve an inquiring mind well; hard drive, OS Windows 7 software, nice scientific calculator, rechargeable batteries and a 6 month supply of Multi-Vitamins and Vitamin C. I should have written Books on the declaration Form. Please don't make the mistake I did. Send it FED EX or DHL. Pay that extra money for your peace of mind. I work for the US Postal Service and I should have known better. I will definitely send my interview documents via FEDEX.

PhilippinesK2 AOS

Has anyone here in VJ's encountered this,I filed an AOS for my son and this is what I got
My son is a derivative of my k1 visa and I am confused of this mail that they sent me after
I got last week the Notice Of Acceptance of AOS.

Request for Initial Evidence.
Submit evidence that an immigration visa petition has been filed on your behalf,
If you are not filing as a beneficiary of an immigrant visa petition submit documentation
in support of your eligibility to become a lawful permanent resident.

Your responses are really appreciated guys.

We just received the green cards. When we completed the AOS paperwork (which was very lengthy), we followed the guidelines in Visa Journey to the letter. Review the packet you sent. Hope you made copies of the packet you sent. Review the guide lines in this website and see if they differ in any way. Evidence for a K-2 is not too involved (Birth Certificates etc...). The K-1 getting approved brings about the K-2 approval. The K-2 does not get approved independently. Whatever happens to the K-1 also happens to the K-2. If I am wrong, somebody with K-1 and K-2 experience will respond. We just completed the AOS process for a K-1 and her three K-2s. Good luck in the rest of your journey!!!

Hi VJ,

Everyone is getting approved that filed before us and after. Why are we being overlooked?

If by some miracle, Vermont picks your packet for a training exercise, then you might see a very quick approval. If not, be prepared for at least a 7 month wait. Hate to bust the bubble, but those are the cold hard facts. Good Luck in the rest of your journey!!!!

I have some question on the On-Line DS-156. Numbered as they are on the On-Line form.

20. Name and Address of Present Employer or School

If unemployed, do I leave blank or enter Unemployed?

22. When Do You Intend To Arrive in The U.S.?

I don't know exact date because I don't know when she will get visa. Do I leave blank?

26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S?

Well, forever unless we move back to PI after I retire. What should I enter here?

27. What is The Purpose of Your Trip?

To marry me with in 90 days and live happily ever after. Again, what should I enter here?

32. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S.?

Eventually but not until EAD. It asks for name and address of employer.

33. Do You Intend To Study in The U.S.?

Eventually but not right away. It asks for name and address of school.

I know that some of the answers might seem obvious, but I don't want to answer wrong so any help is appreciated.

John

PhilippinesK2 Visa Question - Philippines

No the 17 month old will not need an NBI.

Your Fiancee brings the Forms to the interview she does not mail them in.

Your Fiancee documents DS156 (2) DS156K (2) DS157 (2) DS-230 Part 1 only (1), plus the I-134 and supporting documents

The little one DS156 (2) DS157 (2) DS230 Part 1 (1)

Your Fiancee will only get letter (if she is Lucky) telling her to go to the U S Embassy Manila website for the packet. They no longer mail it.

My better half had her interview Jan 28th and they asked who the father was and she said unknown and that was that.

Be sure to check the document list because they do get changed and updated once in a while.

I don't think it is a requirement to place your fiances daughter on the 129-F. I you do not enter the child's name, then the child will not become part of the visa process. If you do enter ther the child's name, then you have many options available. Read the guides with care. Good luck in your visa journey!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHello everyone

Just opened up an account on here, however been reading your posts since before I went to the phils the first time back in sept. I just love this hurry up and wait game! Reminds me of my marine corps days! I sent in my k1 back in oct and my start date should be oct 26. I never received my Noa1 because the mail man is a complete douche rocket, but I did receive a case number. Anyways I just left the phils again and am sitting in Korea waiting on the next flight. Look forward to joining some discussions and watching everyones statuses change!

Welcome!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWorried?!?!

Thanks so much guys!!! I've stressed all day about it! I think we've decided to move the date till January. That's 10 months. I'm not from Russia or the Philippines or a mail order bride... Just a little scouser who fell in love!! So I honestly can't see why it should take any longer than 10 months.
We have every single thing they are requiring so i think we'll be fine
Thanks again for all your help!!
Emma :) xx

Not from Russia or the Philippines; not a mail order bride? What? Now that is down right OFFENSIVE if you ask me. Do you hold your pinky up when you drink tea?
That comment will turn a lot of people off, especially ones who might be interested in giving you advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont buys another 6 months?

Well Ruby and I received our answer on the service request filed Feb 18th. It came in the mail today. Our original I129f was filed August 30th, case touched once in December and then nothing until now.

Here is what the letter says:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us with 6 MONTHS of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

Ok, so it's been 6 months 11 days. Our case is one of the last ones from August I see on Visa Journey.. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Is this a stall or the beginning on a turn down.

Any advice or help or comments would be most appreciated. We are devasted.

David and Ruby

Other senior VJ members state the entire background check takes all of 5 minutes. I call BS on USCIS. I don't think they want to admit that your petition is laying in a big pile across the room.
