anyone looking into plane tickets should consider using a charter company. i always use apple vacations or worry-free vacations and i've never paid more than $400. the ticket i just bought was only $241.

How do you find the charter flights? I've looked at Apple, but I thought they only did vacation packages (hotel and air)?? Our upcoming trip next month, I'm flying for free using my Northwest miles  But for future reference, I'd like to know.

....I am so in the same delema as you went through.... Should I plan on going to the interview or plan on going to fly to the US with him???

It really sucks that the visa's are taking so long to get now. Back in the day, I was able to go to the interview with Tony AND fly home with him. We interviewed on a Friday, he got the visa the following Thursday, and we flew home on Saturday :D I'm sorry for all of you who have to choose one or the other.

how did you guys print off your text messages? i have verizon and i've tried to print them off but had no luck. then my phone broke and i had to get it replaced and lost all the text messages that i got from him. it really made me sad.

I know how you feel. I had a voice mail from Tony from when he was still in Jamaica (during the hurricane!) I'd had it for almost 3 years and it got automatically deleted :crying: I had another one from him of him singing to me and that one got deleted too :(

They did not interview us separately. We were together the whole time. I highly recommend the SO to go if they haven't known each other for a long time. Its major proof.

Same here - no seperate interviews. I personally felt I HAD to attend the interview. This interview is going to affect how the rest of your life goes.

Oh, I forgot to mention - Tony had his (rescheduled) biometrics appt. on Saturday. It went smooth - just took his pic and his fingerprints. We were only there about 1/2 hour. Now the waiting begins to see if we need to have an interview for his 10 yr. GC

You MUST give them the I693a in a sealed envelope when you file the AOS. You will get an RFE if you don't.

Has anyone gotten an RFE for this RECENTLY?? We never sent in an I-693 with our AOS stuff. All I sent them was a copy of the vaccination report that Tony brought with him from Jamaica.

That's about 12 interviews a week!!!!! I mean I they can do more than twelve. This is implying that the number is low due to the amount of time it takes to complete the process.

That's only the number of visa's that actually get ISSUED. There are probably thousands more that get denied every year.

We saw the Transformer movie last night and it was great I highly recomend it to those who grew up watching the cartoon transforms.

I saw it too. It was good! Did you notice all the GM vehicles in the movie? And GM is using the movie in a lot of their new commercials. They have some kind of deal going on together.

I just heard about this on CNN:

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Police say they have deactivated a suspected bomb in the center of London, raising renewed fears of a terrorist strike almost two years after the city was hit by deadly suicide bombers.

Scary stuff :girlwerewolf2xn: Aliengirl - I hope this doesn't delay your flight somehow. Are you flying out of London?

Well ladies, after tonight, I am done with work for 16 days  We're leaving in the morning to go upnorth to my parents cottage for a few days. Then on Tuesday my girlfriend and her family are coming here from Kansas to stay with us for about 10 days. I haven't seen her in 2 years - I'm so excited :luv:

So - everyone have a great weekend. I will check in when I get back in town as we have no internet access up there. Make sure there's plenty for me to read!!! :reading: :P

Well, this is the big day for me, me my big belly, my son and NINE suitcases are off to DC.....On Luvtravelin's advice, got a letter from my doctor just in case...
Doc says I have sugar in my urine, he wants me tot go to the doctor ASAP after I get there to check for gestational diabetes :(

Not looking forward to the flight, but thankfully they say there's 5ft of room by the seat so at least will be able to move around..

WOW! 9 suitcases :o Will they let you check that many? How much does it cost?

Hopefully the sugar is nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on it. My mom had gestational diabetes with both her pregnancies.

How long is your flight? You must have gotten an exit row seat to get all that room!

wow rhonda it's hard to believe that you're already 15 weeks. a friend of mine had her first ultrasound on dvd and she showed it to me about a month before she had the baby. he was only like 18-20 wks gestation and he was bouncing around like crazy. it was so amazing to see, and it made me cry. when do the books say you should be able to feel the kid moving?

Between 16 and 22 weeks. And if it's your first pregnancy, you don't feel it as soon. When I had an ultra-sound at 12 weeks, the baby was VERY active! It's just so small I don't feel a thing!

It's 4.5 million americans waiting on their passports !!! What a mess !!

Kelly - With the "status page" and her birth cert will that be enough for her to travel? I'm not going w/her, she will be traveling alone.

I read on some travel website that Jamaica is letting people travel there as long as they have proof that they applied for a passport - even if they haven't gotten the passport yet. You also need some form of ID that matches the name on the passport app. Like Kelly said, the passport back-up is really hurting the travel industry.

My fiance and I are currently awaiting an interview date. The embassy did email me saying that our appointment wouldn't be until sometime in August 2007. It is kind of far away but then its great because now I may have the opportunity to go with him to the interview.

Hey Shonnie,
I would definately go to the interview with him if at all possible. YOU are the best proof he can show the embassy that the relationship is legit. I have never seen them blue-slip a couple who attends the interview together (unless they're missing some vital paperwork that is required).

Good luck to you

Yes they are all from there. I still have a lot of family there whom I visit when I go there. Many of my aunts (grand) came and brought their families when they immigrated here and that started the generation here. I had one Aunt that sent for one and they just kept the cycle going. Once again thanks for sharing your thoughts I do truly appreciated. Who better to hear their thoughts and get ideas other than you all because you may have gone through it or is still going through and I was just asking for some advice. Thanks again

Yes I'm grown but their opinions do matter to me. And get this, all of my family members and friendsare Jamaican. Their mindset is that they will not provided the opportunity for someone to come up off of them. Now me personally, I can't just assume that everyone is the same.

You say all your family and friends are Jamaican. Were you born in Jamaica or the U.S.? Did they all immigrate here? I'm confused

My experience prior to this relationship is that I did run into a Gigolo in Jamaica at margaritaville by the name of Tony

When I first saw the name Tony my mouth dropped open for a split second :o  No one wants to see their husbands name in the same sentence as the word Gigolo!!

I actually think I know of the guy that you're talking about. Is it the Margaritaville in Ocho Rios??

I do thank you for your response and its ashame that we as adults cannot discuss "reality" in a mature state of mind with one another without getting nasty and upset. I apologize if I have pissed anyone off but as I did state in my initial topic " I had not joined at that time" so I cannot vouch for anything that happened before in this thread. I'm glad that you were able to stand the mean things but I still hear them everyday and its upseting! My personal feeling is that the thought is relevant and unlike many others, I did choose to speak on it and its unfortunate that the topic is so "touchy" for many that it is ignored

I'll discuss it with you :jest: I don't ignore anything! Especially at 2:30 in the morning when I'm work and there's nothing better than a new topic to keep me busy!! There was a bit of drama going on here a while back. Some people came on and asked for advice but some of the advice they got was not very nice and a bit too personal. I personally believe that we should discuss anything and everything - especially the negative things. This is reality - not everything is going to be perfect when your significant other comes here and if you think it is you are only fooling yourself.

Many of us had issues with family and friends regarding our relationships. Many are still dealing with it even after their man has come here. I am white and my husband is black so not only did I have to deal with comments and worries about mixing cultures and such, but also the whole inter-racial dating issue. I had dated black men before but never really serious enough to introduce them to my parents. So they were totally freaking out on me when I told them my plans. Most of my friends were ok with it, but I still got the occasional rude comments about him using me for a green-card and such. I really learned who my friends were when I went through this whole process.

Luckily, my parents came around eventually. My sister was cool with it and my mom came around as soon as Tony moved here. It took my dad awhile, but now they really like each other. But the fact that he was a different color/race, different nationality, from a different country, different culture, different education background, etc..etc... I can understand why my parents were flipping out. But once they got to know him and see how we were together and that we were really in love and he wasn't just using me - everything turned out ok.

Is there any way any of your family could go with you to Jamaica to meet him? It's worked out well for a few people here on VJ who did it. My parents couldn't/wouldn't go when I asked them but it's worth a try. They were in denial :P - I don't think they realized how serious we actually were until Tony moved here and moved in with me!!

my fiance hates dogs (he prefers cats) and he says that when he moves in the dog is moving out.

Oh NO! :o What are you going to do if he can't/won't adjust to the dog being inside? I told Tony way before he came here that the dog is my baby and he's not going anywhere! He was there first anyhow! Tony's ok with it now - the only thing he doesn't like is all the dog hair.

the kittens are much bigger and VERY rambunctious. this is the stage that i hate! they are wild, yet comedic- climbing curtains, attacking your feet in the middle of the night, and knocking things over.

also, a general rule with litterboxes is to have one for each cat plus one additional.

I could never have a cat  I can't stand the thought of the poop sitting there INSIDE my house stinky and gross  I'd much rather have a dog who does his business OUTSIDE. Then Tony shovels it up once a week when he cuts the lawn

Do your cats tear up your furniture or do you get them de-clawed? I know they like to scratch everything.

Are any of you cat owners? Dwain and I are thinking about buying a cat. I have never owned an animal in my life. Should we buy one or two? What is the cost to take care of kittens? We saw some cute ones yesterday at Pet Smart. He wants one or two because he had three back home. I am just nervous. :help: To all the animal owners.

I personally am not a cat person. I've always had a dog - since I was very little. I LOVE dogs! Cats are supposed to be more self-sufficient though. But I don't like the idea of a litter box!

I read the same thing, we were at an info pass appointment yesterday and there was a man who totally missed their appointment biometrics and AOS, they were giving him instructions on how to reschedule it. So it may be worth a try.

I wouldn't dare miss it!! It says right on the form "If you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned" :o  So I have to try to re-schedule it and get a new date.

I talked to Tony right before he went to sleep and we've decided to go up to the place that actually does the biometrics in the morning when I get off work. I can't find a phone # for them and I hate to just send the paper in the mail (that's what it says to do to reschedule) because our appt. is only 8 days from now! We got the letter on June 21 and the appt. is for June 30 - not a whole lot of time to prepare or made adjustments. Wish us luck

From what I've read, it's a BAD thing to try reschedule....Is there NO way you can cancel going out of town???

Not really. I have a mandatory 2 weeks off work the first 2 weeks in July (all the auto companies shut down then) and I am forced to take my vacation time then. We are going up-north for 4 nights and another couple is also going with us. I can't post-pone it because I have friends from Kansas coming to stay with us right after we get home for 10 days!! The only other vacation I have for the rest of the year is the one week we're going to Jamaica in August.

People must re-schedule these things all the time right?
