Rhonda...how are you feeling these days?

I still have morning/all day sickness. It comes and goes. I hate feeling nauseous :( I hope it gets better after the first trimester. Other than that, I'm just tired - of course I'm always tired with all my crazy work schedules and working 6 days a week!

I found out lately that my fiance has lied to me on more than one occasion, once about a very important issue. I think I'm close to approval or at least an RFE because my file was touched for the first time in over 4 weeks.

Sorry to hear that Wayne. I had an issue w/ my hubby lying to me on a couple occasions - one of the times it was a HUGE thing that he lied about. I ended up forgiving him, but it does make it very hard to trust him sometimes. (We were already married when I found out the big lie) Whatever you do, do not worry about what everyone else thinks. This is YOUR life, your future, and your love - you have to do what makes YOU happy  You still have time to think about it - even after your approval, it still has to go to NVC, then the embassy, then wait for an interview date. Hang in there.

Hey I know there are some of you gals that watch ANTM...tonights the big night!

I don't watch that. I've been watching Dancing w/ the Stars this season  I love it! And of course, Greys' Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and my new favorite - Notes From the Underbelly

My husband can care less about clothes. I try matching up stuff for him all he says is as long as their clean, he don't care. I'm hoping when he comes here he will care a little bit about fashion.

Are you sure he's Jamaican??? :o  ;)

Anyways I am excited to have passed...hopefully I can pass the rest. Working for the county would pay almost 40% more plus all the great state benefits. Plus once you are in you are in

It sounds great! Good luck

On another note, I'm slightly apprehensive about a new complex we might be moving to. I can't drive (SHAMEFUL I know!) and the complex he's looking at is two miles from the mall/bus stop etc.
So which is more important, being able to take the bus if I want to or having all those comforts....Choices choices huh?

You could always get a bicycle and use that to get around - no you probably don't want to do that 6 months pregnant  What about taxi service in the area? Not for everyday, but once in a while when you're feeling extremely restless and need to get out it might work. Or you're just gonna have extra incentive to learn how to drive soon! I love amenities so I would choose the one with the pool and all that.

The point of all this is that they will be like a kid in a candy store. You have to diplomatically tell them no. And, don't kid yourself into thinking it will be easy. No matter what they say, they will not get it until they live it.

I try to get Tony to shop at Old Navy too. Their prices are pretty good - even though I don't get an employee discount :P When he first got here, if he wanted something really bad, I would buy it for him for his birthday or x-mas. I told him if that's what you want, but that's ALL you're getting  For his first x-mas I bought him a $120 pair of Timberlands! The good thing is he takes great care of his shoes so they last him a long time.

I kind of thought that too until he went to his first mall and his eyes grew wide. In the beginning, he will want everything and NEED everything (shoes are a big thing) and you will have to reign them in without feeling like you are denying them anything.

Yes, Tony loves his name brands too  He has to have Nike shoes, Reebok shoes, Puma shoes, Adidas shoes, Timberland boots, ....... Then if he wears a Nike shirt, he has to wear his Nike shoes with it  He is soooo funny.

As far as passports and things, how does it work if I hyphenate? Do I still have to change all my legal documents? What about if I don't hyphenate and do [firstname] [maidenname] [marriedname]? I don't want to do away with my own name, I'd still like to be able to use it.

Yes, you still have to change everything. Yes, it's a pain in the butt  I did the same thing - firstname, maidenname, married name - I'm happy with it!

Hi everyone! I hope all of you all had great weekends and Mother's Days. I have a question: For those of you who have gotten married or have been married to your SO for a while now, did you change your name on your passport? If so, how did that work out? Will they keep your old Passport?

I changed mine cause I only want to fill out only one custom's form (must have same last name) and want to go through the National's line in immigration. Thought it would be easier. You cannot use the old one....they punch something through it to render it useless and then send it back to you with the new one. It was one of the easiest things I did. Mailed back in something like 3 weeks or so.

I still have my same original passport. I just had it ammended to change my name to my new married name. It didn't cost me a dime! Just had to fill out a paper and send in my passport. It came back w/ some writing on the last page "ammended on xxx (date) to Rhonda ___ ____" Easy

It's a 2 hour drive to Kingston. We had planned to go to do his police certficate because we thought be now we would have our interview date.

You can still get the police certificate with out having an interview date. I think it's good for up to a year from when it's issued!

We both believe that we will never use an evil credit card again and just stick to debit.

What's wrong with credit cards? I LOVE my credit cards. I have a Northwest Visa and I earn tons of miles each month - I'm flying for free again to Jamaica this August on my frequent flyer miles  I almost always pay off my cards in full every month - I don't believe in paying interest! I guess if you're only going to pay the minimum payment each month, you could get in BIG trouble!

Ok, I have a question.
I will still be getting paid full pay for like 18 months after I move, but have told him he'll have to take my cards, I am hopeless about saving money, I waste every penny I earn lol...Even going to have him change my Paypal password (I'm an Ebay addict too!)
...

i am SSSSOOOO addicted to ebay it is not funny....it's just that you can get great things for cheap....

tee hee hee  Thanks ladies!! Keep buying! I'm addicted to ebay too - but I want to sell everything! I've already sold a gold belly button ring ($63) a pair of silver boots ($15) a pair of black boots ($36) and some concert tickets for Gwen Stefani that I had extras of. I need to find more stuff to sell!!

Ok, I have a question.
What did you/are you going to do about money??
Is he going to have an allowance?
Are you going to just give him an extra bank card?
If you do, are you/do you put a limit on what he can spend?
Have you thought about how much he should contribute when he gets a job? Or how did you work that out??

That is the thing we fight about the most  How the money should be spent! It was sooooo hard at first because I was the only one making any money. He had/has a debit card connected to our account but he did not have free use of it whenever he pleased  We'd both be broke by now! It's still difficult because I make so much more money than he does, so I pay 95% of the bills. Sometimes I get really frustrated by it. Right now though he's saving money for a truck so I'm trying to be patient and keep paying the bills

You never ever know. If you're before the alloted time, per the airline rules, I would highly suggest bringing along the letter from the doctor! They CAN deny you boarding!!

Hope this helps.

Ok, now I'm officially scared.....I will be travelling at 32 weeks, the airline I'm going with says you can fly up until 7 months so I SHOULD be ok!!
But so if they just look at me the wrong way they can deny boarding even with a doctor's letter??????

That's why I changed my trip! I was too scared I'd go into premature labor in Jamaica :o Or have the baby on the plane!!! I would agree with Kelly - you should get a letter from your doctor just to be on the safe side.

P.S. Did anyone ever answer the how long does it take to get pregnant after you get off the pill question.... :innocent:

It took me about 6 months. I was on the Pill for 11 years - not sure if that makes a difference or not. My girlfriend got preggo just 2 months after she stopped hers, but she was using ovulation predictor tests and a basal thermometer to track her cycle

~Raspberry Festival - to eat and buy things made with raspberries
~Farmer's Day parade to showcase all the new farm equipment and the prize cows/livestock of the county
~Holland Days - (my personal favorite  ) where everyone speaks in dutch and sells dutch things and eats dutch food. Don't forget the good old klompen dancing (those good old wooden shoes) Yes I will admit I have done it

I'm seven months,

Will the airlines require something from doctor stating how many weeks I am? I don't want them to not let me on the plane.

I'm going to the doctor on Sat. so I will ask.

Check with the airline you're flying. They're all a little bit different. Most of them require a doctors note if you are 8 months preggo or more. You should be ok.

Wow, it does seem crazy to me now (thinking about it) that I filed for the visa after only knowing Tony for about 5 months :o I met him on December 30, 2003 then I visited in March '04, April '04, and May '04  I just couldn't stay away! I was there again in July '04 and then Sept/Oct '04 for his interview. The time we were apart between my July trip and his interview was the longest we were apart since we met!!

I can't imagine carrying on a long distance relationship for many, many years  I give you guys major credit for doing it, but I personally couldn't handle it. I was out of money, vacation time, and patience as it was and ours happened pretty quickly.

That was a good question though Jax, and I was just about to ask it myself when you posted it! Now I'm curious how long everyone else knew their man before they filed. I think it was a poll on Yahoo a long time ago, but not everyone has access to that.

I guess what really gets to me is the whole inequality of the Embassies worldwide.
I read on here about a Kenyan girl being forced to strip naked duing her medical, when I had mine, the doctor just peeked in my pants. :o
The London Embassies reviews say most times all they ask for in the interview is your fiance's wage slips and the documents.
In my medical, they didn't ask me anything about smoking ganja, I've read how they HAMMER some people at Jamaican medicals.
The need ONE uniform system WORLDWIDE.
It is disgraceful that just because SOME people are applying from a third world country, they are being treated like criminals.
They should bring in a system of mystery shoppers and testers, everyone has the basic right to be treated with diginity and respect.

Why would they make someone strip down naked :o I think I do remember Tony saying they looked at his privates!! Are they looking for STD's or what? Maybe they were more leniant with you since your preggo!!
Yes, the system is very inequal and unfair. Why do they hammer JA about the ganja and not other countries? I've heard this a lot too.

I stopped taking them about 7mths, they were just too big, then I got some gelcap ones which made a big difference For the 1st 3 months the baby really gets all it needs from its mother. It would be nice to start taking them before but God forbid you don't pregnant according to plan...u'll be taking these big nasty ugly brown tabs :)

Mine aren't bad at all. I'm on Prenate Elite and they not too big and not too hard to swallow. I take them with food, because they do have a funny taste if you take them alone.

Poll How long did you know your SO before you applied for their Visa? If anyone wants to participate

Less than 6 months 1 (Rhonda & Tony)
One year 0

Two years 0

Three years 0

Four years 0

Five or more years 1

Cause when I was at the Embassy I thought you at least had to met in the past two years. But believe me I think their was more to the story. The Lady was angry at them.

I think it says you must have seen each other IN PERSON within the last 2 years. In other words, you couldn't meet your man in June 2004 and then not see him again for over 2 years, and then file in July 2006.
rhondapayterFemaleJamaica2007-05-09 02:44:00
Mexico, Latin & South AmericaYardies, at home and a farrin' (Part 4)

You can still file for a visa without knowing your partner 2 years, you just get a conditional green card right? I've read on this, and there is a 2 year limit on a certain kind of green card. If you have known each other over 2 years they give you the other one. There are many people who have filed for a visa in less than 2 years knowing each other. I think the embassy was giving that couple the run around or there were probably other outstanding issues that nixed the visa.

Whether or not you get a conditional GC has nothing to do with how long you knew your significant other. I think what you may have read, is that if you apply for AOS and 2 years passes before you have the interview and recieve the GC, then you would get a 10 yr. GC instead of the 2 yr. conditional card. Hopefully it won't take that long for anyone, but if it does, you go right to the 10 yr GC since you already lived in the U.S. for 2 years.

Unfortuantely, it's at managements discretion and they can move me anytime they want to  I'm not in the union or anything so I have no rights!! I'm trying to stay here now that I'm preggo because I need to keep my health insurance and such and I want to take time off thru FMLA and in order to qualify you have to be at your job for 12 months or more. Yes I have a illness that never goes away if I don't take meds. It stinks I can't even drink. I never told him about what the viral infection does when you are preggo. So he was bored one day online and found out that I need to have a C section so I am safe and the baby. This is true but I never told him that. Trust me he wants a kid like soon so he is like researching already. Like prenatal pills and all. Question did you prego ladies use prenatal pills before hand?

Yes, I started the Prenatal pills when I stopped my birth control. Since the first trimester is the most critical, it's a good idea since sometimes you don't even know you're pregnant til you're a month or two along. :luv:

Make sure you know your SO 2 years before filing the Visa Application. Just wanted to make this note to help any one out who maybe lurking who has not know their SO for 2 years yet.

That certainly wasn't the rule when me and Tony filed  We only knew each other for 5 months when I filed  By the time of the interview, it was about 9 months. I am putting together all my forms and collecting the info needed to file my CR1 visa. I started filling out some of the forms, just to give myself practice and I came across some questions:

1. On the I-130 where it asks for your spouses address, what did you put? Evan has only given me a PO Box address in Negril, I'm not sure if he has a physical street address on his house. Did anyone else have this problem? It seems they ask for the "street" address a couple of times on this form and the G325a.

2. Did you fill out your forms by hand in ink, or did you fill them out on the computer?

3. Also on I130 # 15 do they want to know Evans current place of work information in Jamaica? Or is this question only if your spouse is currently working in the US?

Thanks guys

1.) I think a LOT of us had that problem  Many JA houses/apt. do NOT have street numbers. When Tony tried to tell me his address I kept telling him he was missing parts of it!!! I think I just put down whatever he gave me.

2.) I did all mine on the computer. It just looks neater and you can fit more in.

3.) They want to know your fiance/spouse current work info. in Jamaica.
