hahah i go in the male lines too i have never gotten checked BUT when i came back to the US the last time i got thouroughly checked

I used to get checked and harassed all the time coming back into the U.S. :o I was going to JA soooo often they thought I was trafficking drugs!! I guess 4 different trips in 5 months set off their alarm bells! One time I got thoroughly checked in JA before they would let me on the plane to come home. My luggage was already on the plane and they made them take it off so they could search it for drugs! I almost missed my flight - I was so mad :ranting: They were really treating me like a criminal.

It's way too quiet in here today. What else am I supposed to do all night when I'm at work? I only had 1 page to read!!

I'm sending out our paperwork first thing in the morning for the "lifting of conditions" Everything is finally ready and put together in an orderly fashion! :P

Right now I am trying to figure out how we can keep his hair. It will probably need to be shaved in 5 years when he graduates because he has decided to study music ed  . This is great compared to a police officer. Fewww.

 Why would he have to shave his head to study music ed??? That's crazy. Ask around - I'm sure you can find someone who braids hair on the side.

We were planning to get married the weekend after I get there anyway....
I've juat downloaded the forms, will have them all filled out and ready by the time I get there, if the worst comes to the worst, they can keep sending me RFEs!!

It may work! I know they tell you to send the "certified" marriage certificate but we didn't. We sent the one our pastor gave us right after the ceremony and it was not a problem. No RFE or anything. Are you applying for the AP and EAD as well?

Hi yardies!! We are having a great weekend. Dwain drove today and he is a really good driver.

That's great! Does it seem like a dream that he's actually here now? I know it did for me when Tony first got here. If he's a really good driver, he must be the exception  Tony still scares me and he's been driving here for about 2 years now!

I dont' even want anyone coming to my house until this baby is a month old. I probably sound paranoid but I just remember mucus just coming out of my son's eye all the time. not a pretty sight.

When my friend had her baby, anyone who came over had to wash their hands with soap and rub on an anti-bacterial hand sanitizer before touching the baby. At the time I thought it was weird, but now that I'm pregnant with my own, I'm sure I'm going to be just as protective :luv:

Now, funny thing is, was wondering if we could by any chance file for AOS since I get there 10 days before the new fees come in, and whether it's worth trying to.....

You have to get married before you file for AOS! I don't think you can pull it off that quickly!
My due date is either Spet 14th or 16th lol.......

My birthday is Sept. 14 :D
When his mom goes to visit his sister, she stays in a hotel, I would be SCANDALIZED for anyone to say they were coming to DC to see me and have to tell them they had to stay in a hotel....But he's pretty firm about this, so guess hotel it is :(
Really got to me though, because that's not how I grew up.....

That's really crappy. I would be really upset if my hubby told me my own family couldn't stay with us in our home while visiting :( When I go to Florida, I usually stay with my cousins - last time it was for 10 days. When I go visit my girlfriend in Kansas, I stay with her at her apartment. Her and her husband and baby are coming here in July for 10 days and staying with us. When my aunt & uncle come to Michigan, they stay with my parents. It is definately not a cultural thing. I guess it depends on how you were brought up.

I'm also thinking about going down for his interview but unsure about traveling with a young baby, baby is due 7/10 if he has a late august interview should I go down? I'll be on maternity leave and my son will be out of school. I told him I wouldn't bring the baby with us to kingston and he said his mom would keep the baby, I was at her house last week and she lives in the country and I was getting bitten by something even though I had sprayed myself with OFF, so unsure what to do. I wouldn't mind if she came to his house

any thoughts?

I would at least wait until after your 6 week check-up to make sure you and baby are ok according to the doc. I'm not sure when and how many vaccines they have to get when they're born. Would it be safe to travel out of the country before baby gets all required vaccines?

It's weird though, I feel kinda empty, like there's forms I should be filling in lol....For the past 4 months (NOT complaining about the time!) every single day has been spent doing SOMETHING concerning the visa process....So weird to have nothing to worry about!!

 You can always start filling out your AOS forms!! What is your due date? Do you have family that will come out to visit you when you have the baby?

Know I need to go look up places for him to get his hair done. I have no clue about braid cornrolls. We have talked about the shaving thing. We will see what he does with that. Maybe we should invest in a razor. hmmm

  They're cornrows silly!! LMAO at cornrolls  We had the same problem when Tony came here. All the salons/hair places were charging a fortune to braid - and he's used to getting it done EVERY week! So we spent a small fortune to get them done for our wedding then he had me shave his entire head :o It actually looked good bald!! He was telling everyone he pissed me off so I shaved his head in his sleep! It's all grown back now and we found a friend of a friend who braids on the side - she just does it at her house. We've actually found a few of those around - start asking around now, it may take awhile. I think he pays $20 - which is still high considering in JA he only had to pay $5!!

Just wondering. Damien's mother said most Christians in Jamicans are raised in Seventh Day Adventist church.

I wore jewerly to church and everyone looked at me like I was an alien.

:o No jewelry in church?!!!! I've never heard of that before. I'll have to ask Tony about that religion. I've heard him mention it, but I don't know anything about it.

Yes please, let me know what they are!!!!

It is actually a phone..it's called the MEGA PHONE you pay $1000 JA/month and calls are unlimited...it's only sometimes you can't get connected..but it's worth it

Man, I wish they would have had something like that when Tony was still in JA and we were talking 6 times a day EVERY day

So, for a K-1 visa we do not need to fill out Form DS-156? I plan on mailing the filled out DS-230 and sending it down to Kingston this week.

Yes, you will need the DS-156 along with the DS-156k, the DS-157, and the DS-230. Check out the FAQ on here regarding K-1 visas - I think it will tell you all the forms you need.

Kimmy juss to let you know there are some things you can take to ensure a clean medical result.
My ex works for a company that does random drug tests, he was ordered to take one knowing he had smoked that day, so he went sick for 2 days and drank some stuff, took the test and was clear.

But was that a urine test or a blood test? It stays in the blood a lot longer than the urine, and the doctors at the medical WILL do a blood test to test for the ganja.

I can't drink orange juice anyways, because I have acid reflux and it doesn't agree with me! What anti-nausea meds were you taking? My doc gave me 6 pills to try but I'm afraid to because it says they cause dizziness and drowsiness  :help:

Yes. Tony has 2 kids (girl 7, boy 4) in Jamaica. We send them money and bring them lots of clothes, shoes, etc. when we go down there (at least once a year).

Oh yeah, today is my 31st birthday!

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to file to lift "conditions" for Tony's Permanent Resident card. Here's what I have so far for evidence of our "bona fide" marriage:

Copy of Anthony’s Permanent Resident card – front & back
Copies of bank statements from our joint savings and checking accounts
Copies of our jointly filed tax returns from 2004, 2005, and 2006
Copies of our home owners and auto insurance policies
Copies of various cell phone bills addressed to both of us
Copies showing Anthony as my dependant for my health, dental, & vision insurance
Copies showing Anthony as the beneficiary of my 401k savings plan
Copies of airline ticket stubs from numerous trips that we took together
Affidavits (2) from family and a friend
Numerous postmarked envelopes addressed to both of us
Numerous photos of us together throughout the past 3 years

Is this good? Am I forgetting anything? Hopefully we wont' have to have an interview.

I was sooooo mad about the season finale  I think it sucked!! Nothing but bad news - George failing his test, Berk ditching Christina, Meredith acting as if she's breaking up w/ Derek, Izzie professing her undying love for George to no avail, etc.. I was not happy with it at all :ranting:

For those living in the Chicagoland area there is a Reggae Boat Party on Sat June 17th on the Odessey at Navy Pier. It's has 3 levels (Reggae, soca/calyso (sp), and hip/hop) and tickets are on sale at various carribean stores in Chicago. Many artists and DJ will be playing that night. I went to a couple of them and always had a nice time.

That sounds like fun  I wish I lived in Chicago!!! Does the boat sail out on Lake Michigan?

Question...

what would be a good gift for my friends new born baby? It's a little boy. I just have no idea what would be useful. I know that there are a couple of expecting mothering on the thread and I would like to know what they would like.

It depends. Did she have a baby shower? She might still have a registry for baby gifts that she wants. If not, you can always buy a cute little outfit. Can't go wrong there - you can never have enough clothes

You know, I never even considered a bicycle!! I love cycling, but American roads scare me, they are MUCH bigger than English or Jamaican ones, I'm even slightly apprehensive about CROSSING them!!

We got Tony a bike when he first got here. It helped out a LOT. He could at least get around a bit or run up the store by himself. Most places in the U.S. (in the city) have sidewalks that you can ride on - that way you won't get run over by a car or truck  That's great that your mother-in-law offered to drive you around. That should help.
