US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa delayed due to lack of finances.

Made 19,000 last year and will make 21,000 this not great but still 125% above the poverty line. Have about 2500 in my savings and 1000 in my checking. Sent last 4 w-2's which include my old job from the pretanked economy when I was making 2x what I get now.

Any rate embassy said she would become a public charge and I needed to have more in my savings. Didn't say how much though and wasn't happy about my current full time job. Question is does anyone have any idea what sort of numbers I need to have or should I just get my brother to cosponser and send that in? According to what my fiance says I have one year to appeal.

I am going to give you advice that will solve all your economic problems. It sounds like you are only trying to obtain enough income to support you and your fiance. Around 20,000 sounds about right. What if you could make double that while learning a new career? I am talking about getting into the trucking industry. Training for most big companies is handled internally and you pay them back over time. Starting pay is around $40,000 and goes up with each year of experience. There are 10 jobs for every driver now. Do research on Bubbajunk.com. Your fiance can ride with you. If she likes she can get her license after one year of having an operators permit and drive too. That would put your combined annual income well over the $120,000 mark and you would be together all the time. And if something happened to you she could easily take care of herself. Sound appealing to you? If you have a better idea, I am all ears.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 - fiance recieved a letter of possiblity of public charge in manila embassy

Hi Vjers,

My fiance just had his interview at manila us embassy and has refused to give him visa for now due likely to become a public charge. Please advise on what to do. thank you so much!

What do you think may have been the cause? He had your I-134 with 2010 tax transcript, W2 from the last three years, letter of employment. Did he have these documents on hand? Maybe borderline poverty line for your household members. These are the obvious issues. Could there have been others? They stated "For Now". Maybe you have an opportunity to demonstrate that you won't become a public charge. Good Luck!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK2 Visa with K1 Visa
I think you won't need any authorization from the biological father since the biological mother is considered the sole authority in where the father has not taken any responsibility for his child. Some here can quote the exact Philippines Law which addresses this issue. I think I am correct on this, but others can chime in and give you the reference to Philippine law.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 ( I already sponsored my parents)

Posted ImageHello, I have a quick question hope someone will enlighten me on this one. I sponsored my parents for green card a year ago and used the I-134 too. We got our NOA2 for my K1 last week and was filling up this form. Do you think I would require a co-sponsor since I have submitted the same form before. What if I made 48k last year? Would that be sufficient? Thank you.Posted Image

You will have a household of 4 after you bring your fiance here. I think you are very safe because you have a current income that supports 7-8 people.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow Long Manila Embassy might take to review submitted documents after Interview

In our case, it took the Embassy very little time to review documents that Chinook submitted after her interview. Chinook had her visa in hand one week after submitting the final required document. However, it can sometimes take weeks for the Embassy to close a case. I'm guessing it depends on the work load of the consular officer involved.

I'm not sure if the Embassy allows appointments for submitting documents since they now have a system set up through 2Go to do it.

Also, if you wanted to take the documents directly to the Embassy yourself (without an appointment), you would have to talk your way past the guard and then you could try to submit the documents to Window 17 or to Window X. Chinook did exactly that the second time she was asked to submit a document.

Hang in there. Your time is coming!

They must DOT and CROSS everything. If it is what they are seeking from you, then count on around 7 days after the documents are submitted. My fiance was surprised when they showed up at the house with visa in tow.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionOriginal documents for Packet 3 after NVC

How do I collect the original documents ( Birth,Police and Marriage Certificates for example),if i had submitted them to NVC already, along with DS-230 form? There is no way i can get them from NVC, unless i will bring their copies to an Embassy.

Talk to the beneficiary to get more originals. You will need to submit one to NVC and possibly more during this visa journey process.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHaters & Perpetrators! - Can They Ruin Your Embassy Plans?

That don't make since, because the Gov't go by evidence... Perhaps something was not right with the birth certificate. Anybody can say someone is the the biological parent of a child, but evidence is what they take action on, right?

It was up us to prove that she was a citizen and the natural child of a US Citizen. We only had the birth certificate. The evidence against her was apparently strong enough to revoke the US Citizenship. My attorney stated it was not worth the effort to fight it. He recommended just applying for adjustment since she was married to a US Citizen for 10 years already. Again, if somebody does not have the absolute need to know, then keep your lips sealed.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHaters & Perpetrators! - Can They Ruin Your Embassy Plans?

Have you ever heard of a situation where a person (out of jealousy) wanted to ruin a person's Embassy plans? They send letters to the Embassy with false allegations regarding the Petitioner; with the intent to cause "red flags" that can result to a denial of his/her VISA. How would the USCIS handle such a situation?

They have and they continue to do so. In my previous marriage to a Filipina (22 years), I went through a complete nightmare. My ex's father was a US Merchant Mariner. He was naturalized. During his leaves he would visit my ex mother-in-law. They had 5 kids together. They were subsequently divorced in an American court. My ex was a US Citizen by birth to a US Citizen. After being a US citizen for 15 years somebody from her family gave information to the US Embassy that her father could not have conceived her and her siblings. We discovered this when she tried to renew her US Passport. I went around and around with the Chicago Division of the US State Department. So, I had to adjust her status to get her and our four kids green cards. A word of very sound advice. DO NOT ANNOUNCE your every move to everybody you know!!! Especially from the Philippines!!!!!! People carry big grudges. It only takes one apple to spoil it all. It happened to me and it happens every day in other countries. Beware of broadcasting your future, for others may want to change your plans without your knowledge.

US Citizenship General DiscussionOath Cerimony Optional?

I'm not looking for life advice right now, I wanted to know if the Oath was optional. It isn't, so I'll just figure it out when I receive the date. I'll plead to have it in March with the IO and go from there.

I must tell you this true story. It relates directly to your situation, but may be more humorous then helpful. My brother-in-law became a perm resident in 1990. He was scheduled for his oath taking in 95. He failed the first test and then passed the second two weeks later. He is Filipino. He is also noted for conducting many, many all-nighters. Well, he decided to conduct an all-nighter the day before the oath. Needless to say he was still in that state prior to the oath. I take him to the Hart Plaza in Detroit where the oath is to take place. There are about 2000 people there along with one of the federal judges to administer. Everyone gets in line to retrieve there paperwork to include the Naturalization certificate. My brother-In-Law gets his and comes back to take a seat. The process is taking way too long. My brother-in-law who is still 1000 sheets to the wind says "Lets get out of here". I tell him he needs to take the oath. He insists we get out of there. What does he do? He gets up and leaves and I chase after him. Did he make a mistake? He is still a US Citizen until this day and so are his wife and kids. I am in no way making lite of that important moment in many peoples lives, but that day was so, let me say, awakening.

US Citizenship General Discussioncitizenship of my K2 son

I got my 10 yr GC last year of October, my son came here as a K2,his GC will expire this year on October, I was thinking I will file my Naturalization asap so I don't need to apply for his GC and he would be automatic to be naturalize, my question is:

1). I will be going for a vacation by June this year for a month in the Philippines, I am hoping it doesn't affect my application?
2). Is there any necessary papers to fill up for my son so he would be included in the application? or is there any process to be done after my naturalization so he can be automatic to be a citizen also?

answers much appreciated thank you in advance

You are correct that he will derive Citizenship through you. He will derive this citizenship only after you have obtained your citizenship through naturalization. Read the instructions for filing N-600 on the USCIS Website. You must file on the kids behalf separately.

US Citizenship General DiscussionChange in willingness to bear arms ...

Hi All,

Finally I have the date of my oath ceremony (YEESS and I can even make it)!

I am just wondering if anyone here answered yes to this question: "Has there been any change in your willingness to bear arms on behalf of the
United States;"

As far as I understand it is not a big issue but I would like to hear from anyone who has any experience with this.

Thanks a lot!

You swear to show true faith and allegiance to your country and that means your willingness to die for that cause.

US Citizenship General Discussionwhat's fatest way to get US citizenship after greencard?

I just want to know info about this details

If you marry someone you will have permenant resident card. After 6 month usually. But after it what is the best way to get citizenship?

And how long it take to get it at least?

Regards,

The fastest way now to become a USC after obtaining a greencard is to join the military. According to an executive order by President Obama, there is no waiting period for those who are in the military. If this applies to your situation, you might want to check it out. My daughter will be joining shortly after receiving her green card. My wife was amazed to realize that our daughter will be naturalized long before my wife. If getting off to a good start and obtaining a free college education is important, this is an excellent opportunity, especially for any K-2 applicant. No need to be in an area where hostilities are in process. You are only required to be in active military duty any where in the world.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)What happens to petitioner if prior beneficiaries are now illegal. Hot topic in forums
One of the forum hot topics indicates a K1 fiance visa was denied while at NVC. The beneficiary states that, in the past, the petitioner helped an old girl friend by sponsoring her. She also states that the old girl friend is now an illegal alien. What happens to the petitioner, now that NVC has flagged the K1 visa petition and has issued the denial?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Calling the NVC daily, for the music

The NVC call center’s background music is so familiar now. I call and wait on the line daily, and have done so for the past 10 days. The musical selection is a single, repeating, 42-second loop of synthesized feel good, elevator music. It’s like the music they would pipe into the death chamber as you’re about to be processed into Soylent Green. (Dating myself there. My fiancée will never understand all my references…)

While waiting I was also able to carefully transcribe the calming voice messages. There is a 9-second delay between each of these sequentially repeating messages:

1). “We appreciate your patience while waiting and assure you that assistance is just a moment away. your call is very important to us, and we look forward to speaking with you!”

2). “We know your time is valuable. Thank you for holding. Assistance is just moment away.”

3). “Thank you for calling! Our staff is working hard to take your call now. When we return to the line please let us know how we may serve you.”

4). “All our operators are busy. We apologize for the delay. Please hold and we will answer your call as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

5). “Because of the personal attention given to every caller you may experience a brief delay. Please remain on the line. a representative will assist you momentarily.”

Reminds me of that commercial where they break out of the luxury prison and then get hypnotized by KENNY G music.

Have you ever looked into FDR & FDR Pebbles? They have a nanny assigned to every room with children, included in the cost of the room. We stayed in Pebbles when my kids were smaller. My youngest had the nanny for her stay. They did all kinds of kid-friendly stuff and had exclusive areas for the different age groups. There is a youth coordinator for the older kiddies.

I loved the freedom during the day to do what I liked without worrying about them. And, you could pay her extra to stay into the night if you wished.

It was small enough to get to know pretty much everyone in the resort, big enough for plenty of stuff to do, and they had some great off-site excursions planned.

Thanks, I will look into those, but if memory serves me, I think they're in Runaway Bay right? Tony really wants to stay in Ochi so we'll be close to family & friends.

Even when we on the beach as soon as I finished my glass, they were filling it up. The place is HUGE and it kind of takes away from it. Entertaintment is okay, but I was quickly bored. I think it's because I'm a born Jamaican, so I had to go into Ochi for fun. But I would recommend it, although it's $$$$$$ it's worth every penny. I can't wait for them to building the one in Mobay. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you some pictures of the RIU.

That's awesome about the screen doors! I love to have the fresh breeze, but I hate the mosquitos! And since the malaria outbreak in Kingston, I'm really worried about mosquitos now unsure.gif

I sent you a PM. I'm mostly wondering about what type of room to book, is the resort child-friendly, and is it hard to get around - it looks sooooo huge in the pics!

Hey everyone, I haven't had as much time at work as I used to, so I'm really behind again. I hope everyone is doing well biggrin.gif

I know some of you have stayed at RIU in Ochi. I have some questions about the resort. We're thinking of staying there for part of our next JA vacation. If you've been there, can you PM or e-mail me?

I need to vent. 8 weeks ago, my supervisors at work told me I would be on 2nd (afternoon) shift when I came back to work. Then, ONE week before I was due back, they moved me to 1st shift INDEFINATELY mad.gif because one of our suppliers is on strike and a bunch of people are laid off. Now I'm still on 1st shift, and no one can give me any info when I'll be going to 2nd. All my plans and arrangements for day care are for 2nd shift. So, Tony has been home with Monique but he's losing his mind and has to go back to work. Plus, we're broke! We need that extra income. So, I don't know what to do. I desperately want to find a new job but I can't find one that pays anything close to this one (that I'm actually qualified for!)

I helped Anthony's father do the paperwork to renew his passport 2 years ago and he drove all over the place trying to get just the right photo. The Picture People are the only ones they would accept, even though I couldn't tell the difference between their's and Sears! Just hit them first - don't waste your time with anyone else.

What are you supposed to do if there isn't one near you? They don't even have locations in Michigan! mad.gif

Thank goodness Tony's passport is still good for a few more years.
