I am planning on going to see Marlon during Spring Break and I need help in finding some cheap air fare! Can anyone point me in a general direction please? I am going nuts and missing him so bad and thankfully that is 1 week I can take off of work!

I don't remember where you live, but Spirit has had really good fares lately to Mobay - I know from Detroit they're $129 each way. You can also try sidestep.com which will search the lowest fares on all the travel websites.

OMG!!!
I am GOING to Jamaica from March 9-March 18!!! My friend works for the airlines and hooked me up for $168.00!!!! YAY!!

 I get to see Marlon (L)

The interview process was a little nerve racking, we were interviewed separately in a private room She asked us questions such as how we met, how many times I visited, when we got married, where we got married. She asked my husband where I lived, my mom's name. who filed for me, what I did for a living etc. Since my hubby and I were together the night before she asked us what time my plane came in, if he picked me up. what we had for dinner, what I wore to bed....

She didn't even ask for proof of the relationship

Wow! It seems like more and more people are getting interviewed in those private rooms  I guess that would be nicer than talking thru a piece of glass. They sure asked you a lot of personal questions!

The reason she didn't ask for more proof is because you were there with him. YOU are the best proof there is

Congrats on getting the Visa

I have to work ALL weekend :ranting: I hate not having a day off! Sometimes I wonder if the money is really worth it???

I am looking for a new job and I can't get paid less to support my lifestyle. So to me its worth it to work at the after school program and summer school. But really I couldn't see myself working the entire week straight I need a break. How do you do it Rhonda?

It sucks  I am here right now and not happy about it at all. The problem is I've looked for other jobs and I can't find anything in my salary range (not counting the overtime). So I'm stuck for right now because the bills gotta be paid <_<

thinking about east coast but scared of the cold winters.

The cold is good for you. Just ask my frozen Jamaican!!

Tony doesn't even mind the cold that much. He works outside every day :o doing roofing and siding! He also shovels snow for my dad's company. He doesn't particularly like it, but he's used to it. I think I hate it more than he does  And I've lived here for all of my 28 years!

Hey everybody,
I have to file to lift conditions for Tony in a few months - mid May. His GC expires in August and you're supposed to send it 90 days before that. Am I going to be the first one of the Yardie's to do this? I need to start doing my research  More darn paperwork! And more fees too I'm sure  It's never-ending......

OK--do you file the form I 131 for Advance Parole so you can travel from US to Canada and back on the k-a visa, or not? I'm totally confused. The instructions are clear us mud.

You file for Advanced Parole if you want to be able to travel outside the U.S. BEFORE you get the Green Card. For us it was a waste of money because Tony got his GC about 6 months later and we never went anywhere during that time. It depends if you're planning on traveling. I mainly got it for Tony just in case something happened and he needed to go back to JA during that time

Mindy thanks for the help on the drivers license. I think I will go pick up the booklet for him to study for the test. Then I can be the driving instructor for a week and he can go take the driving test. How is driving school going for Roy?

I know every state is different, but Tony had to first pass the written test. Then he got a permit and could drive with any licensed driver. He had to drive on the permit for at LEAST 30 days before he could take the driving test and get his license. He passed the driving test on the 2nd attempt  They wouldn't pass him because of the damn parellel parking!!!

 I don't get it. Why doesn't he want to wear shoes?

Good luck with the wedding planning.

Is it a beach wedding?

I've seen many beautiful weddings on the beaches of JA...one couple did not wear shoes...it was simple and romantic. They took pictures of their footsteps in the sand. I like the idea unless it's a traditional wedding. But then again...I'm so non-traditional

Ok, yeah that would make sense if it was a beach wedding. I wouldn't wear shoes either :innocent: I hate getting sand in my shoes - much rather be barefoot!!

How did Tony compare it to Jamaica? Barbados is absolutely beautiful.

We both thought it was similar to Jamaica - except for the prices!! Barbados is so much more expensive than JA. The people there were all very nice and friendly. We went to a "yard party" and saw Tony Matterhorn perform!! It was just like being at a club/ party in Jamaica. As usual, I was one of the only white people there  It was mostly all locals, not many tourists.

Rhonda how was your trip? What was the best part of it? What did you guys do?

Thanks for asking. It was awesome!! We went on a catamaran cruise and snorkeled with giant sea turtles. We rented a little, bitty car and drove around the whole island. We went to a wild life reserve and saw lots of monkeys and other animals - the animals were NOT caged there so you could go right up to them as long as they didn't get scared and run away :D We did a LOT of relaxing and laying around by the pool and on the beach and swimming in the ocean. It was very nice but very expensive there! The best part was that it was hot and sunny - the total opposite of Michigan weather :dead:

What's a pardna?

Let me see if I can describe this well..it's like a savings but you receive a lump sum at once. It's when a # of ppl come together and put in a certain amount per week (aka a "hand") and depending on how much your throw (put in), # of ppl, & # of weeks you will get a cash pot (your draw).

Oh!!! Tony has explained this to me before. I just didn't know what it was called!! Thanks.

Yeah, I saw it on TV!! DId you get a lot of ice too? That's worse than snow. It's cold here too - but it's always cold in Michigan in January :hehe: It's about 15 degrees at night and highs in the mid-20's to low 30's.
rhondapayterFemaleJamaica2007-01-18 03:19:00

Hey Jill -- It's basically "pumped-up" carrot juice. He takes carrots (that he boils until soft then puts in the blender), Supligen (Ensure-Vanilla), Irish Moss (in the can - it's a "energy" drink that we get at the Jamaican store -- I'm not quite sure what to compare it to as a U.S. product -- it's pretty gross), condensed milk, vanilla and nutmeg powder -- that is the basic juice that the dog gets. Roy then adds a can of Guiness to his.

That sounds absolutely disgusting!!! I'm surprised the dog even drinks it  Tony drinks Irish Moss, Supligen/Ensure, and Guiness, but all of it seperately. I've never seen him mix them up. He also eats partly raw eggs sometimes :o Nasty!!!

I know what you mean! Tony was not at all used to the idea of having a dog in the house. He likes the dog but says he would like him better if he stayed outside :o <_< I told him I was going to put HIM outside before I put the dog out  The dog was here first!!
