here is the actual packet 3 your fiancee in Thailand will receive later on. IT doesn't provide you with all the links from which you can download the forms, but gives you an idea what you need to have ready for your girl's interview.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your NOA2.

Hello there,

I am wondering what I can do while waiting to receive packet 3, hoping to save me at least a couple of weeks of waiting.

I heard that, after knowing my case number and while waiting for my case to travel from NVC to the consulate in BKK, I could fill out a form and a checklist available online and then send them to the consulate in BKK before I actually receive packet 3.

my questions are:

1. Am I allowed to do that?

2. If that is allowed, what form do I fill out? Is it DS-230 part 1?

3. Will that make packet 4 (with the interview date set) come sooner?

Thank you for your help. I am thinking about the visa thing every day and trying to shorten my waiting time if something can be done on my part. We have waited for nearly 2 years to file I-129F because of the restrcition on my part. I don't want to wait any longer than I need to.

Wait until you receive packet 3 from the embassy that will come with all the forms you need.

the two shots you will very likely get are MMR and Tetanus. if you don't have a history of chicken pox (Varicella), you will get the vaccine for it.

Bring one photo with you to the midical exam, too.

Hope you are approved soon.

Dear VJ members:

I need your help as I have no idea how to fill out this part 7 of the application. I am applying for naturalization based on my marriage to my US husband of over 3 years. I came to the US in Oct 2007 on a K-1 and we got married. I was granted a permanent resident status in Feb 2008.

My question: What do I put in terms of the number of days I spent outside the US during the past 5 years? Do I need to count the days I was in my home country before I came here to marry my husband? I am confused and it doesn't seem to make sense to me when I am applying for the citizenship based on a marriage to a US husband.

Please help. I have zero idea how to go about this.

I had my interview this past Monday. It went well and I'm now waiting for a letter for Oath ceremony scheduling.

It took me less than 10 minutes for the interview. The officer asked me the questions he had to (e.g., Have you been arrested?) and never asked to see the originals of any documents I had submitted (e.g., my husband's birth certificate or even our marriage license). Then he started the test, which I got all 7 right. Everything was smooth and swift. We drove 6 hours and spent a night in a hotel for this 'less than 10 minute' interview. Needless to say, we were happy it went well and we are forever done with the USCIS.

I do not know about Canada. In Thailand, when I had my interview, I did submit a copy of my BC in my native language (Thai) without having to translate it into English. I took the original with me and they only looked at it and returned it to me and kept the copy.

You will need to translate the BC when you apply for her AOS. And in fact, you can do the translation yourself and put the statement on the bottom of the translated document to verify the correct translation. Please look at the statement on the VJ guide. You need to say it exactly what USCIS wants you to say.

One of the things I submitted was the photocopy of many letters and Christmas/BD cards that friends and family had sent us that had both of our names and address. That shows that you live together in the same address as a couple.

You said you two have traveled a lot. Did you keep your boarding passes and itinerary (like the other poster mentioned)? If so, submit them (I did).

We did sent it via USPS. (no prior)
I guess we will wait till the end of this month, and if there is still no sign from them, we will just get married in the next couple of months. And file for DCF.
We live together in Germany right now, but in oct he has to go back to the US...
We just want to be together and enjoy our lives together.

Hi there:

When do you need to fill out the online DS-156 and send in?

Is it (a) when you send back packet 3 to the consulate; (b)after you recieve packet 4; Or (3) when it is close to your interview date?

Ladywhite,

You can fill it out at anytime as the website does not send data to the Embassy it stores the data in the bar code for when you turn it in. Make sure you use good quality paper and printer the bar code must be sharp and free of smudges. You would then turn it in at the interview with the other DS forms. :thumbs: Good Luck.
