Russia, Ukraine and BelarusApartments for Interview in Moscow

My fiancee has her interview 24 April and I had read that it is cheaper to rent an apartment than stay at a hotel in Moscow. I would like her to stay there until she gets her visa then she can leave from there. We have been looking but cannot find. Can anybody give us any information about it. We would be very grateful.

Thanks
Charles

There's a ton of apartments you can rent in Moscow through the internet. An apartment is much better than a hotel. Here's one link: http://www.gotorussi...s_in_moscow.htm. But you can just Google "apartments for rent moscow russia" and there will be a ton of sights you can go to. Hope that helps ya out!

Thank you very much!!!!!!

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAttorney Frustrations...
QUOTE (Christi Wright @ Sep 29 2009, 08:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Man, I wished I had found this website prior to hiring an attorney. I wonder if anyone else has encountered the same frustrations I'm having now...?

When my husband and I decided to hire an attorney to help him emigrate to the US, we thought it was the most intelligent choice. We figured that everything would be submitted correctly, the forms would be perfect, all info would be right and since they do this every day, it would be a relatively simple process. In other words, hire someone else to deal with the headaches...

The problem is, it's the ATTORNEY that has been the headache. Most obvious is the fact that we were, I feel, duped into doing the K-3 rather than just going for the CR-1 - so we have to pay an extra fee once he gets here so that he can change his status to permanent resident.

Additionally, we paid the attorney 5 weeks ago - and provided all documentation that was asked for - every stitch of it...but the case still isn't filed!! I cannot even begin to tell you how pissed I am about this. In my mind, if I had just done this myself, my husband would be here 5 weeks faster...

And every time I send information, it either gets lost, or is otherwise unaccounted for. Three times now, she's asked me to send information I'VE ALREADY SENT!! She had me fill out the G325-A and overnight it to her, but failed to mention that my husband also has to fill one out - something we could have done easily while he was here in the States, but now he has to send it overnight from England!!

And the continuing instances of "oops, I forgot to tell you, I also need (fill in the blank)" - I swear if I get another one of those emails I'm going to pull my hair out. I'm guessing, that because she does this for a living, and actually works for an immigration FIRM that she's done this once or twice before? Why am I being asked for information that I could have sent to her originally 5 weeks ago? Incompetence is the only answer I can come up with.

I understand, it's not HER husband...but really, she's in the business of people's LIVES - and I feel like she's wasted 5 weeks of mine.

As it stands - hubby is sending the G-325A tomorrow morning - after we FINALLY received the firm's FED-EX account number, so that we're not responsible for the $$. Fed-Ex says it will be there by Thursday morning. If it's not filed by Friday, I'm sure I will SCREAM...

Just venting enormous amounts of frustration and anxiety.

Has anyone else had to deal with attorney's who just don't seem to know or care???

I'm actually using an attorney as well. I have used this firm in the past for a previous AOS for my ex husband and they were pretty efficient. The only reason I'm using them for the K-1 process is because I was a bit worried that having filed the AOS I would have some sort of red flag. I think the paperwork is easy enough. I'm half tempted to not use them for the AOS when it comes time. I had to fill out all the questions that will be asked on the AOS already for the lawyer so the hard bit, remembering dates, places of employment and whatnot was already done. I hate that I spent the money on something I KNOW I could have done myself. I suppose it's live and learn really.

I wouldn't mind living in Canada or Europe (Europe would be preferred) for 10+ years. How would this process work?

Would we first need to go back to China and then obtain another visa for her to travel to Europe? I wonder if there would be any complications with China issuing another visa for her to go to Europe given the 10 year ban from the US?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but just like it is here you can't just MOVE to another country. Here you have immigration...you have the same sort of immigration in other countries. If you were an EU citizen no problem...but you aren't. My daughter was born in the UK had both a American and UK birth certficate and she can't just move there so I'm thinking you better stick with China.

Nik also visited after NOA1 - he was pulled into secondary, but as soon as they saw the NOA1 that was it, they let him in straight away. For that 2 week visit he had employer leave paperwork etc as well.

John was here for about 5 wks this summer. He left mid August and really he didn't want to leave he could have stayed but went back for his job....3 weeks after he got back they laid him off so obviously he was pretty pissed that he could have stayed and didn't.

I'll just make sure he has all his ducks in a row. When he came in last time his POE was Philly and he forgot his itinerary at home and the officer said hey John where's your return info?? John said thank god his last name was O'Donnell LOL he was thinking those irish boys have to stick together! He let him in without any trouble just said make sure you have that next time.

I hope it's just as easy this time! Like I said before out of all my travels I've never had to go through DC so I'm hoping they are good about it. I guess I'll know next Friday!

To add to this...You know I was reading a thread earlier and it seemed like the people driving over from Canada have a rough go of it. I wonder why that is? Maybe because they don't have anything saying that they would actually be returning like you have with a plane ticket? Just found that strange. I guess we aren't so neighborly with the neighbors to the north!

That's what I was hoping for that it wouldnt be any different than any other time he's come into the country but ya just never know. He actually has been laid off till the 1st of the year so we thought if he's just sitting around why not sit here.

I haven't had any experience with POE Washington DC in my entire life so I'm not sure about that. I'll just have to make sure he's armed with loads of information and hope for the best I suppose.

It's funny really....I never thought for ONE moment that he would be turned away any trip, now suddenly I'm spazzing out over it. This processes is making me crazy! blink.gif

Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone from the UK decided to visit while the K1 was processing? We sent our paperwork off and the NOA1 is dated September 17th. We aren't expecting the NOA2 until at least mid to end of December and I'm curious if anyone has come over for a visit. Did you have any issues at POE? Has anyone had POE of Washington DC? Now that we've booked the ticket I'm nervous (imagine that!) I just want to make sure he has everything he would need if he's questioned. I actually have a ticket booked to go to England on Christmas and we booked his return for the same day and the same flight so I'm also going to have him print out my itinerary. Any suggestions would be great!

I think I'm going to go for support. I think he'll probably spaz a bit smile.gif Just wondering your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks!

Jaymie

I attended the interview in London, but I don't think it makes the tiniest bit of difference. In some countries with difficult consulates, it does help, but London is so easy and is not looking for proof of your relationship. I went because it was summer, I had a free frequent flyer ticket, and plenty of time to go. We made a holiday of it and stayed in London and did some tourist things. I planned my normal summer visit to include the interview date since he didn't plan to move until the fall. If it's going to cost you lots of money and eat up your limited vacation days from work, I suggest saving both for better use. AOS is going to cost you $1010 right off, so prioritize your money for that.

My major concern is that I have gone through an AOS with my ex husband (english citizen). I'm adding information to the I-134 to explain that he has 40 qualifying quarters of work blah blah blah and I don't want John to have to worry about having to explain any of that because he'll stand there with a deer in headlights look thinking ####### are they talking about? Obviously he knows about my ex but he doesn't know the ins and outs of the papework. I know he won't have an issue with any of the questions asked about us and our relationship, I'm more concerned if they need info about the previous relationship and I'm not there to answer them? Does that make sense?

I rang up the CRB and they said that this caution is on record for life and that anyone that request it thay have to give it.

should i send a copy of this information with my DS forms??

Yes, give EVERYTHING. You have to have the standard stuff, the ACPO and related court things if you have anything on your record, I mean ANYTHING. The folks at the interview LOVE PAPER...more the merrier. London doesnt care about relationship doc's however, thats alright. I've never heard of those forms you speak of....whatever, clearance info is clearance info...

whats ACPO? Iv never been to court. Will thet police clearance find the caution?

You MUST need this---regardless if you have anything on you.

"A visa applicant who has resided in the United Kingdom for 6 months or more since the age of 16, is required to obtain a police certificate from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). Further information is available from their website at http://www.acpo.poli...ertificates.asp . This police certificate will serve to advise the U.S. Embassy, London whether or not any criminal conviction is held against him/her.
The police certificate will be sent to the applicant's address provided at the time of application. Please note that the Immigrant Visa Unit considers the police certificate valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, not six months as stated on the certificate."

Here is packet 3--merry xmas----lol...

Ok so after reading this I just want to make sure we are good to go. My fiance hasn't ever been in any trouble...not arrested, warned....nothing. We got his police certificate and it says without trace or something along those lines. I'm assuming that means there's nothing to report? Which is correct! United KingdomReceived case?

Have your case number handy, and call the Dept of State at (202)663-1225. Press 1 then 0 to get a live person. Tell them you are calling to get a status update on your visa filing. They will ask you a few questions and then tell you what the status of your case is.

Because your case was just recently been sent from the NVC, they will probably say the embassy has not received the case yet, even if they have it physically there, but the embassy hasn't officially logged it in. There is normally a couple day lag time after receipt of the packet for the embassy staff to log your paperwork in.

You can call back a week or two after that to see if Packet 3 has been sent. When they say P3 has been sent, even if it's not been received by you, you can go to the London Embassy website, download the forms, then ship them all into the embassy.

Don't wait for the letter. Ours never arrived. :)

Here's the website page you need to look @: http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html

Good luck! Almost done!

Thanks for the information. It's funny you wait and wait for the NOA2 then suddenly I thought maybe now that we've received it I should be doing something else!

I spoke with a rep at NVC today and she advised that the case had been sent to London on 12/29 and she provided me with my case number. I've tried to figure out the DHL tracking but it's stating that there isnt anything with that date. How can I find out if our has in fact been received by the London Embassy or if it has been entered on their system? I am trying to stay on top of this but I'm not quite sure where to go from here. I'm having the same feelings...our case was forwarded to London on 30th December and received/signed for on the 4th January.

The NVC have already given me an interview date...but I have yet to hear from London Embassy so I can book medical etc.
I wasn't aware that the NVC would give me an interview date, I expected that to come from the London embassy..now I am panicking in case everything isn't done on time....or even worse, the interview date the NVC game me, is wrong.

Is there a contact number that doesn't cost the earth to phone?

Well if you speak to a rep at the NVC they can give you the Case # and that's what you need to book the medical. I've never heard of anyone getting an interview date over the phone from NVC.

United KingdomNot in System

Not that this will ease your stress...but...

our file hasn't been entered into the system yet in London and NVC sent it on November 16, 2009.

When we called the embassy help line we were informed that London is experiencing a 4 week backlog. So it may take a few weeks before they enter you in the system. Hopefully your's and our's are entered soon!

I think they are feeding you a line of ####### because someone who had an NOA2 date AFTER mine has already received their packet 3. If there were a 4 wk backlog he/she wouldnt have gotten their packet 3 yet. Patience is a virtue I guess.
jkminneyFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-01-11 17:37:00
United KingdomNot in System

London took 15 days from when NVC mailed to enter ours into the system. Feel free to check my timeline. With the holidays you might have extra delays. Hang in there sweetie!!! Just several more weeks! And send in DS paperwork as soon as they tell you P3 has been mailed. It caused us more than an extra month because Dave waited until he received P3 in the mail.

I think I'm starting to spaz out a little bit because it's a timing thing isnt. I've looked at so many timelines the past couple of days and I'm sitting here trying to figure out ok if we want the interview to be roughly THIS date then when should we send the packet 3 information in. Ugh. It doesn't really look like the packet 3 paperwork is anything out of the norm. The only real difference I could see was that it wanted 10 years of work history vs the 5 it asked for on the initial paperwork. Here's a question for you....When you DO send in the packet 3 paperwork what exactly are you sending in? I've read that some of it need to be given or not signed and some need to be signed? I realize the checklist needs to be sent in but what about the other forms? I think there are 3 other forms? I-156? I-156k? I-157?

Then I'm sitting here thinking I want to know about these vaccination records. When you get your medical done and you show them the vaccination record from your dr saying you are current blah blah blah and they forward your info to the Embassy do they let you keep the bit that has your vaccination record on it so when you get to the U.S. you have the vaccination records for the civil surgeon to fill out the other bit.

I'm mostly in a panic because my fiance is expecting me (which is ok) to have all of this in order so when he goes to the interview he has all his ducks in a row. I'll be there too but I still need to make sure it's in order. YIKES!

Holy Sh!t!!! My brain is going 100 mph today.

Did you give her the LND number from the NVC? Sometimes they can be a bit slow in all of that, but you can get all your packet 3 documents ready right now and you can book your medical while you're waiting...

I did give her the LND number and she asked the name of the beneficiary, then she said it's either not been received or not put in their system yet. I called NVC again thinking maybe I wrote down the wrong LND # but I didn't and I did verify that it left the NVC on 12/29 so I don't know. Right now I guess I'm just going to chalk it up to the New Year holiday. Just makes you wonder ya know...why some people get their packet 3 in 2 days while other people aren't even showing on the system after a wk. I LOVE having my life in other peoples hands :)

I of course gave her this information and she advised that the file has either not been received or not been put in the system yet. Does anyone have an idea of how long it usually takes for the file to show in their system? Just a quick little update to my previous reply.

I just called DOS to check to see if his packet 3 had been entered into the computer. It was entered yesterday, so he's now eligible for an interview. So, it took 15 days for the forms to be entered into the system (thankfully much less than the 4 weeks they originally told us).

hope that helps! And hope your's goes as quickly. Yes, still hope for a March interview for you guys!

Woooo Hooo hopefully you hear something soon about that interview. It makes me happy knowing that it's moving a little faster. Maybe it was because of the holidays they fell behind. I'm keeping positive. Hoping we can mange to get him here sooner rather than later!

Well, let me tell ya. Mine was received on 31st December.

Today I received a letter dated 25/01 asking if we wish to continue with our application as they have not heard from us. I was about to have heart failure. Couldn't get through to DoS (due to Haiti the message says) so I had to suck it up and call the extortion line. Turns out it was logged yesterday. So approx four weeks it took for us.

Hope that helped a little.

Well it's good to know that it's possible to be receiving a letter like that prior to it being logged because I would have had a heart attack for sure! I have decided I will wait 2 weeks before I start calling...then hopefully I only have 2 weeks of them telling me NO it hasn't been logged LOL. I wonder how long it will take for you to get your interview date now...keep me posted would ya?

Typically it's 2 weeks before they enter your packet into the system. But they are a bit backlogged and told me (via email because we had another issue earlier) that it's about 4 weeks now. So, you could meet in the middle and go for 3. They only seem to do the interview scheduling and notification once a month though so you likely won't be in the next round to go out at the beginning of February.

Our packet 3 got there on January 13 and hadn't been entered into the system as of Monday (25th January).

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I'll just sit here and wait. I sorta figured we wouldnt make it for the March interviews...bit of a pisser but what can ya do?

Im getting worried because the expiration period for my NOA2 is on the 6th of Feb and I don’t want them to think I’ve abandoned the petition. I was slow gathering the info together and visiting my fiancée for nearly a month
in-between didn’t help. Would phoning them help confirm that we are still perusing the petition?

You can call the DOS at 202-663-1225 with your LND# and ask for the status of your packet 3. They will tell you if it's been logged and if an interview has been set up.

United KingdomLondon Embassy Checklist?

It states you need to tick the boxes for the following; if they apply to you.

Passports yes
Birth Certs yes, must be the "long form" with the parent's names on it
Adoption Certs - if you were adopted
Military Records - if you served in the military
Court and Prison Records - if you were ever arrested or cited by the police (not traffic)
Photographs - 2 US sized.
Evidence of Support - I-134 from fiance, tax return WITH Form W2 or a tax transcript ordered free from the IRS, letter from employer, recent pay stubs, bank or investment account statements if using assets to qualify. (Pick two things. You don't have to have all of them.)
Marriage Certs - if you were ever married
Divorce Certs - if you were ever divorced. Decree absolute with court stamp on it.
Notarized Statement - from other parent giving permission if you are taking a child out of the UK.
Deed Poll - showing your name change if you ever changed it legally
Police Certs - order from ACPO.

You state that you need to bring marriage certificates if you were ever married. I was under the impression the marriage certficate was in reference if you were filing a CR1. Why would you have to bring a marriage certficate for a previous marriage if you are supply the divorce decrees for those previous marriages?

All of that is explained more fully on the web page http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html
You have to click all the links and read it carefully. You find links to the medical exam, the police report. Be sure and look at the right column. There's the forms to file, where to get copies of documents, and and Help listing link to Q&A

United KingdomK1 Visa

this whole process has been so frustrating and I haven't seen my fiance in a little over a year now and all we can do is talk on webcam and i miss him so much i ask my lawyer for help and he just gives me phone numbers that i call and they dont know anything i dont know what to do so if anyone can help i would really appreciate it

We sent our packet 3 paperwork in on the 25th of Jan and it's still not on the system. Just a heads up. I do think that it typically takes between 2-4 weeks for that info to be logged on their system depending on how backed up they are. So as the previous poster said dont get shook if you call and they don't show it having been received. It wont show received until they actually log it.

United KingdomLooking for some advice

My fiancee and I met in June of last year and after six months of skype and phone calls, we finally met during the '09 holidays. It was incredibly brilliant.

What we would like to do is for her to come over again and have us spend more time with each other. We think this is a reasonable and prudent idea. We would like to spend more than the 90 days the VWP provides, so we are thinking of going for the B2 visa which gives her six months here in the states.

I've been advised the the London Embassy may not grant the B2 since she is eligible for the VWP. Would it be possible for her to come to the US on the VWP for the 90 days, then lets say us take a day trip to Canada and have her re-enter on the VWP? Or do we run the risk of her getting denied at the border?

We would really like the six months together, but I'm a bit nervous about her getting denied the B2 and having that haunt us through the process of the CR visa.

Edit: One more bit of information: Should things go as well as we think they will, we plan on getting married in a small ceremony here in the states and then having her return to the UK to kick off the CR/IR visa process.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Chris.

I think typically if someone were to come for the entire 90 days they would deffinately question her trying to come back in so quickly. My fiance has come in twice for extended periods but there was a month and half gap between each of those visits. She has to provide proof of ties to the UK when comin in for that long. She would have a pretty hard time explaining why she was here for 3 months and then back again in a day for another 3 months? It looks dodgy. She would need to be well prepared for the fact that she may not get back in.

United KingdomParanoid...

Also!

On the DS-156 form do i have to stick a photo on the 1st page or do they do that at the interview or anything?

I feel like such an idiot, ive set myself back a few weeks

Don't send the photo. You give them the photos when you go to the interview.

United KingdomSO frustrated..

And it came yesterday...LOL.

I just wanted it to KNOW they had it and KNOW they are doing something. Just wait a month or two and see if I get all OMG WHAT ARE THEY DOING again!!! LOL.

I've officially decided the worst part is between the NOA2 and getting the interview! It took them 3 weeks to acknowledge that they HAD the file then another 2.5 weeks for them to say they had packet 3 from the time we sent it back....now....wait....................UGH. I dont care if it's 2 months from now just tell me already so I can make some plans!

United Kingdom2nd Set Of Eyes

I'll second what Maven said. What's on you list plus the extra 2 years tax returns for 07 - 09, have never heard of London ever asking anyone for a receipt for a ring.

Good luck it will be an anti climax, the most famous words uttered by London visa applicants are "Is that it" as you will not believe the interview is finished as it is quick and easy and you are not sure when you are told to go pay the courier if you misheard. :D

I'm really trying to relax. I know everyone here seems to have a fairly good experience but I just feel ill over it. I know that we have everything in order. I think once I get there I'll feel better. Also didn't help that I have to leave so quickly....I was anticipating at least 3 or 4 wks before the interview. HA! That didn't work the way I was thinkin it would! I wasn't planning on bringing a ton of evidence just a few things.....just in case ya know? A wk from now I'll be on a plane. Seems strange lol
