United KingdomDriving in the USA
Most insurance in the U.S. covers the driver of the car as long as they are driving with the permission of the owner/insured. Your UK license is sufficient but i would suggest to bring both the paper/photo id version so there isn't any issue with that. My husband used to drive my car without me because he had permission to do so. So even if he was to get in an accident or pulled over it wouldn't have been an issue. I did verify this information with my insurance company because I also didnt want to run into any problems if something were to happen.

United KingdomPolice Certficate for Medical?
My now husband had a medical done Feb 2010 for K1 visa...now since we are doing the CR1 thing he's required to have another medical. He didn't need to have a police certificate for his medical in Feb of 2010 but I just read in another post that this is required? When going to the information on the U.S. Embassy website and reading the information for Knightsbridge I still didn't read anything in regards to needed a police certficate...can someone tell me what I'm missing?

United KingdomCalling the Embassy from USA?

Writee-mail. Alays works and they respond promptly. Doesn't cost you a penny. In addition, personnel that answers e-mails is much more knowledgable. Usually, when you call, they take the question and revert to the consular staff and ask you to call again. More expensive and slower. E-mail ALWAYS works.

In order to email the embassy in London you need to have a code which you can only get via calling the extortion line.

I don't know of a number to call from within the U.S. sorry!

United KingdomGood advice needed please

Please can someone help us with some good, solid and reliable advice if possible?. In August I met the lady of my dreams, My soul mate and all being well my future wife. I'm due too fly out at the begining of November to be with her. I'm going for 90 days but we're planning on getting married at the end of December. I haven't applied for a fiancee visa as we've been told that they can be quite complicated, I don't know how true that is. We've kept all emails etc to prove that our relationship is valid and don't plan on getting married until after 40 days of me being there. The other problem I fear the most is that I don't have a clean record, I've never been to prison and only had two fines and a caution, however one of the offences was for possesion of a small ammount of cannabis and I was fined for it. I was only charged with possesion and NOT possesion with intent to supply and that was nearly 12 years ago and I've not touched any drugs since. We are pulling our hair out with concern as we obviously want to get married and do everything by the law so I can live and work as a U.S citizen. My future wife to be has a good job and can support me etc until I get the green light to work. So are we going about this the right way or should we apply for a fiancee visa? Will my record effect any future decision of citizonship? If we marry before I'm due to leave am I allowed to stay beyond the 90 days? My flight is booked and I answered no to all the questions on the ESTA form which has been approved. I'm worried about the above questions and that I may even be turned away at point of entry. Please help as I would like to get a good and worry free nights sleep before I leave lol.

Thank you very much for any help given.

You can't enter the U.S. with the intention of getting married and staying if you are coming on a visitor visa. Since you've now said that's your plan we will advise that if you DO get married you will need to leave, go home, and file the for a CR-1.

United KingdomMedical in Manchester, UK?
He would need to go to London to have the Medical. My husband lived in Birmingham and would take the coach down early in the morning, set the appointment for afternoon, and then get the coach back after the medical. The medical actually is pretty fast to have done. He never stayed the night and national express had very reasonable prices on coach tickets if you book online.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3/CR-1 visa or enter on tourist visa and petition?
A tourist visa isn't going to be long term. You can't do the K1 because it's a fiance visa and you are already married. As far as the student visa is concerned if you aren't looking at going to school until 2012 what are you planning on doing in the mean time? The only good/true option would be the CR1. Alot of people are getting through pretty fast now. Our entire process will be done just under 7 months.

Hello fellow VJ'ers,

My fiancée has filed an I-129F petition for K1-visa for me to join her in the states. We have received our NOA1 but awaiting our NOA2.

In advance of my medical examination in London, I've been doing a bit of fishing around to try and get hold of my immunisation records. However, it seems that my medical records do not detail any record of vaccinations. So effectively I have no proof.

I've been doing a bit of reading and it seems that the US Consultate only expect me to have MMR and Td/Tdap (male aged 33). I was thinking that I would schedule these immunisations ahead of my medical and save a fair chunk of change in the process (~£60).

However, before rushing in and getting these immunisations, I wanted to ask any fellow UK beneficiaries in a similar position to me, i.e. no immunisation records, what happened during their medical interviews with respect to immunisations. Which vaccinations did they give you and roughly how much did it cost?

Thanks in advance for any feedback and good luck to one and all with your petitions!

My fiance is in the same boat. He's had them but they are having a hard time locating the records from that far back....He's going to go ahead and get them because he KNOWS he's not going to have the proof of the records and we don't want to have to spend anymore money than what we have to

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfiance in the interview

Petitioners do not HAVE TO attend interviews. I always suggest they do. Some consulates do not allow them into the interview in which case you bring their passport in to show they are present. I strongly recommend that the petitioner plan to be at the interview.

Gary do you know when the best time to advise the embassy that the petitioner will be going? I will be going with John but I'm not sure if he should just send a letter back with packet 3 stating I will be attending or what we should do?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNeed some reassurance here...

Yes, child support can be considered income. (Also - some embassies go by 100% (wording in the FAM says for the I-134) - but others perfer 125%)

If the other affidavit is satisified, your obligation ends, so then you do not need to account for it on your new affidavit.

(btw - if he was still under the affidavit, you would include him on the I-864 - it doesn't matter if he is in the same household or even married to you for that matter - as long as your still obligated)

It is a good idea to show proof of such, as you have suggested.

I appreciate your information. I still need to list him in the section that asks if I've filled out an affidavit of support for someone previously though. I will be at the interview with my fiance' and I guess I just want to make sure that when they are reviewing all the information that they understand that I HAD to list my ex husband even though he shoulnt be in the calculations? Unlike the I-864 you dont have to add that person to the actual # if they are no longer a financial obligation but on this stupid I-134 it doesn't allow you to put the number in your family...does that make sense? I guess what I need to find out is how do I make sure that they are calculating the amount I need to make as a 4 person family vs 5?? I'm assuming if i put a * next to the information they will take note that there is an addendum to add additional information?
jkminneyFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-01-22 10:10:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNeed some reassurance here...
I'm looking over this I-134 form and my actually salary is just below the needed amount to be at 125% I do however received child support for my 2 children which would put me well over the required amount needed. So first off I just would like someone to verify that I can infact use child support in my annual derived income. I know you are able to use it with supporting evidence on the I-864 but it doesn't give any sort of instruction for this on the instruction form for the I-134.

Secondly I have filled out an I-864 for my ex husband. He was here on a work visa when we met and has sense achieved the 40 qualifying quarters of work needed to no longer be responsible for him. He has given me his annual statement from the social security office and has also agreed to write a letter and have it notorized stating this information. On the I-134 I do need to include him on the form because I did fill out an affidavit of support for him. Unlike the I-864 there is NOT a place for you to say how many people are actually in your household!

What I've planned to do is have 2 addendums stating the information above (it will be a bit more professional than this quick post!) I will put a copy of my ex husbands information with one addendum explaining and then the proof. I will have another addendum with the child support information along with an additional copy of the divorce decree highlighting the child support payment information as well as a an additional copy of bank statements showing that income be deposited

IS THIS ENOUGH????

I need to be put at ease!

Thank you!

Basically that check list is you telling them you are going to have EVERYTHING they need. We sent the checklist back prior to having the medical done but we knew the appointment was going to be before the interview and that's what was important. As long as you know for a fact you will have everything required on that checklist by the interview then I wouldnt hesitate to send it back. Good luck!

101 days since our NOA1 from CSC. My timeline say that my average processing days are 99-107 for the CSC, but I am still being anxious. This is way sooner than the USCIS time frames, but now that I know other people are getting their NOA2’s I have become a compulsive email checker and it is driving me nuts!!!! Do they just do a mass emailing to the people who are approved? Does it come at average times of a day? Blah blah blah...

I know this is an obvious question, but why are some people approved in like 60 days and others aren't? My Fiancé is from Finland (Very Friendly country to the US) I am prior military with security clearance, both have stable long term jobs, and respected lives? I think the obvious thing here is that we are working with a bureaucracy and things just go like that often... it is just frustrating that there is no way to check how far along the actual petition is. I keep getting these pangs of fear that our application is stuck under someone’s keyboard or dropped behind a desk somewhere smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif How ridiculous is that thought, but it is true.

I guess the magic word right now is patience, but sometimes it is a hard thing to have. Good luck to everyone who has not been approved in the calculated times.

Looking at Igor's list I would think that you should be coming up pretty soon! It's funny really we look at the USCIS website it says 5 months but the idea that we could get it in less time than that starts something off in our brains that don't allow us to think properly! I suppose we are just all so excited we just hoping for the best and honestly I think that's the best thing we can do....hope!

I'm only just beginning this process and I feel for those people that filed at the CSC and are seeing all these approvals going through the VSC. I wasn't comparing, just saying I know how frustrating it can be to see no progress for no good reason and see other people getting their step finished before yours even though yours is older.

Hopefully you won't have to find out it is extremely frustrating at this phase especially, since you know you're so close, you're comparing thousands of flight combinations on all different dates, times, venues. The worst is all your friends saying "where's Vicky? I thought she'll be here by now" or people calling, emailing, asking at work "when does she arrive" and you have to say, "I don't know, sooner or later" TEN times a day. If you are like me and your best friends are trying to plan an arrival party, etc. etc. etc.

Do you know how many times you've posted how frustrated you are with this process, and then followed up with "he'll be here next week". Did you ever hear me telling you: that wasn't an option in our case, and in many other people's cases. Many countries are extremely difficult to get a visitor visa out of (or require one in the first place). There was no option for us and hundreds of other people to see each other often. My vacation time was almost used up going to see her in September and I'll use the remainder for the wedding. Can't quit my job to go see her, because need the employment to get approved. Yes, I'm thrilled we were approved and through the NVC so quickly, and that I have a very rare name (you know a lot of Dain Griff Masons?). Yes, my fiance lives in a country you can schedule your appointment almost immediately. I'm very grateful to be at this phase. I'm just trying to express some empathy. Did you ever hear me telling you? You want some sympathy? You've been with your fiance 4 times I can't see mine until this process is done?

If you're not happy for us, it's like the old saying, if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

You knew the process going in as did I. I've been through immigration before even if it wasn't for this specific thing. I know it takes time. My point was Dain that when you come in and say that you are discouraged because Vicky hasn't received her visa in a week it DOES in fact make the people who are still waiting to just get their NOA2 extremely frustrated....I know this because I talk to them OUTSIDE this thread. As I said it's not that people aren't happy for you...we are! And if you read the thread I stated that within the post! But it just makes the people still waiting for their NOA2 feel even more discouraged to see so many people moving forward and they are stuck. This forum is for everyone and I feel along with others that you need to keep how far you are in the processes in mind when you post your grievences.

I'm not complaining...I know about the wait. I know that we probably won't be having our interview until April. We made plans to get married in June because I had done the research I knew how long it would probably take. I have spent those 4 months this year with my fiance because to us it was very important to have that time. We didn't want to get married after spending so little time together. We wanted to KNOW for sure without it being any sort of honeymoon phase. To each their own. People have to make decions about how important it is to spend time with their partner....There was time that I didn't have vacation but I took the time without pay because I wanted to spend it with him. That's our choice.

The rest of us get asked when our partner will be here too....EVERYDAY. When are you getting married? When is John going to be here? You guys have to wait 3 or 4 months for him to get here now? Does he get to stay? Its the process Dain...it's what you signed up for. I will be with him at his interview..why??? Because it's IMPORTANT! Will he get to come home with me? Probably not because most people take at least a week to get their visa so once again I will be waiting but that's because I know this from the beginning!

So in saying that....GET A GRIP! You are entitled to your say as I'm entitled to mine. She'll be here before you know it and then you can move on to the AOS thread and not have to be so irritated with this one :)

My psychic prowess isn't what it used to be?

I know the feeling, someone in the regional forums (also going through Manila like us) had an interview on the 19th and their visa arrived on the 22nd (14 hours ahead there). Our interview was the 14th and still waiting... You just know it's just sitting on somebody's desk doing absolutely nothing, but there's nothing you can do about it.

I REALLY REALLY hope that you aren't comparing the maybe 2 wk wait for your visa to someone who still hasn't received her NOA2 let alone even been able to imagine when they will get an interview....Dude...YOU ARE FINISHED. You know she's gonna be coming as soon as she gets that visa which will most likely be within the next week.
