PhilippinesHow Did You Meet
We met by chance in an online chatroom in July 2004. I had my new laptop just set up and was surfing around checking it out. Popped into a chatroom and started chatting with Aimee. She was in Bayawan. Waiting for her son to get out of pre-school and popped into an internet cafe to spend a few minutes. Exchanged emails for a couple months before chatting more regularly. One year and 5 months later, I flew there to spend some time with her. I flew her into Manila to meet me. Spent a couple hours at the hotel talking before we had to head back to the airport to catch the first flight to Dumaguete, then a taxi to Bayawan. This waas the week between Christmas and New Years. Lots of activities including founders week. Met her family, proposed, had a pamalaye. Returned the first week of January. Filed the I-129F. Nine months later, she arrived in Minneapolis. Three weeks later we married and have been on our honeymoon ever since.

Philippinesmarried and tourist visa
QUOTE (koltrone @ Apr 20 2009, 03:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys,

just want to ask this question for a friend who is not a member. she is married to USC and she wants to try to apply for a tourist visa "again". the first time she was granted a visa in 2005, she meet him and they get married. she returned home and after a year she applied again but she was denied due to the fact that she is already married, usem knew it. she then go to canada instead just to see her hubby. now she wants to try again because one of her friend told her that this friend's hubby was issued a multiple entry visa. she just need your opinion. I already gave mine that it just a waste of money, however she wants to hear it from other people. thanks!

If she is married to a USC and has no status in USA, they will not issue a tourist visa. Plain and simple.

PhilippinesRenewing Passport in Chicago
I brought my wife and her son to USA on K-1/K2 visas almost 4 years and now it's time to get their Philippines passport renewed. Both have their 10 year green cards. Reading through different forums, it appears different US embassies have different passport renewal requirements. What we're needing to know is the costs and requirements. I've also found 2 totally different Report of Marriage forms. The one from Chicago embassy's website is dated 2004. I've also heard that you can have the photos taken there at the Chicago embassy. Is this true? Has anyone gotten their passport renewed in Chicago recently and can fill me in on the latest details?
Thank you

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCase Status Online
I received my letter of receipt (NOA1) today and was able to access the USCIS Case Status ok. From the main USCIS website, I needed to click on the "Case Status Online" link. Next, I created a customer portfolio account. I assume you have already done this. Log in to your account. Then add a case to your portfolio. They want your Application Receipt Number. This is the "Receipt Number" on the notice of receipt letter you received. I did notice that I had to enter the receipt number without the dashes but including the letters in front. (Example: ABC1212312345)

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the POE Review! We'll be doing POE through Sarnia, too, as that's usually where we cross!

Your driving experience sounds pretty similar to ours coming through Nebraska and Iowa... So flat and boring, nothing around for miles and miles and then you're suddenly you're in the middle of a town!

Iowa isn't THAT bad! You've got cows.... and corn... and SOME... hills...

ohhhh fiddlesticks... what am I saying, lol, it's boring. HAHA!

Email sent! Here are my answers!

Do you have any hobbies in particular?
I play a LOT of video games, but mostly WoW. I read a lot, and I dabble in photography. Oh, and I collect keychains.. seems weird, but I've always done this. If I go on vacation, I buy a keychain that states where I was and stuff. Most of the time, they get packed away, but sometimes I'll use it for awhile. All of my keychains (25+ now, if I recall...) have some sort of meaning behind them, too; like where I've gone, or whatever. biggrin.gif

What are your favourite colours?
I don't think I really have any favorite colors, and if I do, I sort of changes randomly. Anything can look pretty with any color if it's meant for it. smile.gif

Do you decorate for Christmas?
I sort of do. Still living with my parents, so we tend to just do the tree and lights and stuff. Next year, though, I'll be able to decorate on my own for the first time biggrin.gif

What colours do you use and what style (if any) do you like?
For decorations, I'll probably end up using a mixture of red, green, white and silver. That's about what my parents do, and I can't see myself deviating from that. (I'm a sucker for tradition...)

When you shop, what are your favourite things to shop for?
Oh lordy. Haha. I'm a HUGE Apple geek, so I usually hit the Apple Store first to check out iPhone stuff (love my iPhone...) and then GameStop, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks etc. I like cutesy things, too, like Hello Kitty/Sanrio.

CanadaWhich Forums Do You Like to Check Out?

Awww. I just think that you're a sweetheart. It doesn't both us a bit in the VSC taken over forum to help out people. We cheer for everyone equally, and get frustrated when others are frustrated. We've offered to send fingers and toes to USCIS/NVC/and Consulates since day one.

I just think it's a shame that other posters are sometimes made to feel bad for feeling happy that their journey is one step closer to an end. Shouldn't we all be happy for everyone?? I think so.

Exactly! I mean, what's the point in stirring it all up? It's not going to make anything go faster. I think I stopped posting shortly before I got my NOA2, to be honest. I'm a firm believer that patience is a virtue, but when the NOA2's started rolling in, I got a little antsy. I even admitted it, like "Hey, I know I'm usually all about patience, but EEEEEEK - NOA2 DO WANT NAO!" and I got called on it. I snarked right back at the person, though, and I haven't really posted in it since much past congrats to a few people. After that, I tend to just go straight here to chat. Hell, I have a page to the Canadian forums saved on my home screen on my iPhone! :D

CanadaWhich Forums Do You Like to Check Out?

I usually try and stay off the CSC September thread since a lot of them are so negative and mean to each other when one gets a step ahead. I don't think that's right or fair. One of them cruises the Canada forums so I'm sure I'll get blasted for saying that, but it's the honest to gods truth.

That is the EXACT reason I stopped posting in there. No worries, though. You definitely won't get blasted from me, because I tend to stay away from it now, too. There's just way too much negativity. (Not to mention.. I feel bad that there are still people waiting for NOA2...)

Other than that, I'll help a bit in the K1 forum, and I've ventured into the September Filers/VSC-Overtaken forum post (hahaha) but I'm here mostly. I like you guys and girls. I want to bake you all cookies for putting up with my silly questions for the last few months, lol.

CanadaWork history for P3
Well, after sitting down with him on MSN and his dad on Facebook, we milled through his past taxes and vague memories and FINALLY narrowed things down to the roughest estimate based on his recollection of what the weather was like, whether he was in school or not... and sadly, what video game he was playing at the time. I guess whatever helps!!! LOL.

Thank you all for your advice!!! Time to finish this up and get to shipped off to Montreal next Friday! :)

CanadaWork history for P3

I just attached my résumé. Might be a good time for him to draw one up. He's going to need it when he gets here, anyway.

I used months and years. He can just guesstimate. It's not going to affect anything.

So as long as the years are precise, the months will be okay if he just guesses? As for the whole resume thing, this is what has stopped us in the past from creating one. Very long story, lol.

All of this would be so much easier if he only had to put down 5 years, because he's held only 2 jobs since roughly 2003, and one of them has technically been the whole time. :(

Silly paperwork, haha.

Did anyone else just put the year on theirs besides Sapphire? I'd hate to just do it and then end up getting an RFE for it or something, but we seriously can't track anything down, and he hasn't been able to get through to Canada Revenue. :(

Well, I was just about to post how I saw it said DS-230 Part I, and that the employment stuff was in Part II ... but that's not it. I am filling out the right form, but I wonder if only 5 would be okay, because then he'd just put down his current job that he's been at since 2003...

This is so confusing, and yet, it's so simple! :dead:

CanadaWork history for P3
Well, I sent a message to his dad about his back taxes, so his dad is looking those up for us. He also pointed out that he could call Canada Revenue and get a Notice of Assessment for the years. Unfortunately, he thinks they only go back six years or so. I put that here just in case someone else comes looking for information in the future. I'll post again when we find out how far back it can actually go. :D

EITHER WAY...

We're closer to getting it figured out! We've narrowed it down to the main jobs that he remembers; now it's just finding which years he worked there, lol.

Thank you so much for your help everyone! I don't know what I'd do without you!!! :)

Well, he's had the same job since 2003/4, but before that, he doesn't remember. Well...he remembers some places he worked, but doesn't know if they were after 2000 or not. His memory kinda sucks anyways, and he'll be the first to admit that, lol.

CanadaCanada-to-America Banking (Revisited)
THANKS FOR THE INFO!!! :) I have TOO many bank accounts right now!!! I have 3 here in the States (2 normal, and the one that my financial aid is deposited into), and 2 in Canada (if you count my fiance's account which my name is technically on)... It's getting to be a hassle when he sends me money because we transfer it from his Canadian account to my Canadian account, and then I withdraw it with my debit card down here, and deposit it into my account down here - We pretty much play economy russian roulette without the bullet. Okay, fiance and I are wondering about the picture area on DS-156 that he filled and then printed out. We are supposed to attach (staple or glue, it says) his passport-esque picture there, correct? (I would assume so, but I don't want to jump the gun...)

ALSO: Just to make sure:

- Form DS-230 Part I
- Form DS-230 Supplemental Page, signed & dated
- Form DS-160 Confirmation Page
- Form DS-156K
- Form DS-156 (2 copies)
- Form DS-156 Supplemental Page, signed & dated (2 copies)
- Checklist, signed & dated

That look about right? (I took it directly from the cover letter, lol) All other docs are to be presented at his interview?
