Got our license in the mail and I'm going to start the name change process on Monday! I'm actually kind of excited about it! (I'm sure that will pass...) It feels all official now, hehe. It's a very nice feeling, and I can't wait until we're done with USCIS for 2 years...

Good news from Niagara Falls this morning: Our license was returned to them! Turns out they wrote our address on the envelope wrong, so they are going to send it back out today! YAY!

Jenn - glad you're back safe, and I'm sorry that the trip wasn't 100% agreeable with you

Krystle - Aww, I hope the nausea subsides enough to where it's tolerable, if not completely, at least. I'm sure you only wish it was go completely... I wish I had more advice, but maybe try nibbling on some saltine crackers? That's what I'm told to do when I've got it... but I don't know if the same rules apply to sickness nausea and pregnancy nausea.. Sorry. :(

Broke down and called the City Clerk's office in Niagara Falls today. They told me that our license was mailed out on the 13th, and we should have gotten it by now, and that if we don't get it in another week or so, we can mail them $10 and they will send us another copy through the mail, so it can just get lost again. Well, they didn't say that last part, but that's probably how it will work, knowing my luck. UGH. Oh, and I'm waiting to hear back from the place we went through about the status of our wedding pictures, which aren't here, either.

Having the wedding in Niagara Falls was supposed to make everything better, but it didn't. :( I think I'm going to go back to bed now. Running off 2 hours of sleep, and crying for about a half hour has completely depleted my energy level. :(

I hope you all are having a better day than I am!

And trust me, I'm feeling you about the getting your own place thing. :bonk:

This is thirded by me SO. MUCH. right now that it isn't even funny. I feel like we're so far off from it, too. :(

I hope he gets that job, Kayla! That really DOES sound like a good place to start! :)

Glad you had a good vacation, Krystle! :)

Go ahead and apply in your married name. Your marriage certificate is good enough to justify the name change issue on the forms. Lots of people have done it that way with no problems!

Okay! Thanks, Kayla! Now... if only my marriage certificate would show up...... sigh. :(

Oh my goodness! So, apparently, Matt's parents are going to help us with AOS so we can get it done sooner than January! :o I have a little question for you ladies - did you apply for his AOS in your maiden name, or did you wait until your last name was changed to file it? I haven't glanced at the application yet, but am just assuming that my information will need to be on there, too, so I was wondering. We're actually still waiting for our marriage license to show up from New York (and our wedding pictures, too!!! GRRRR!) so we can't really do anything until that decides to get here. I'm hoping it will show up this week; they said 2 weeks. If it's not here by next Monday then I fully intend on contacting Niagara Falls city hall and finding out what's going on.

I hope you all are doing well!

I feel like a complete dolt right now. So worried about aos that i spaced off the rest of my post...

Jenn, i am soooo so happy for you and your health! I will continue to pray that things stay positive and good for you!

Krystle, i hope you and your hubby have a safe trip!

Please remember that you are all special, and i wish you all the brightest and happiest of days! I would probably have gone insane by now without you all!! Thank you for everything!

We know Frenzy won't have it yet ( looks like she's choosing to be last with everything :) )

We tried to get a loan to cover the costs so we can do AOS now, at least until we got the money in January, but unfortunately, it would seem that I have the crappiest credit known to mankind. I don't have any credit cards or anything like that, but yet my credit sucks too much and I'm too new to my job for anyone to trust it. *sigh* So we're stuck waiting until January. I don't like this whole non-status thing with him. I'm so worried he'll get deported or something.

somehow I pictures frenzys eventual "wedding night" being like two cats on a hot tin roof. ;)

LOL.

Yay for his GC, though!

We've been trying to come up with the money for AOS sooner than January, and it seems like everywhere we go is just a brick wall. Can't get a credit card, can't get a personal loan.... brick wall after brick wall, and all the while I just feel like beating my head into it. Sigh. I've been feeling like the worst wife ever because of it, too... like I can't even take care of him or something like that, you know? I'm ready to pull my hair out. :(

I guess the good news is that I have a few more hours this week than I did last week... but still not enough to be considered great. At least my cell phone bill will be taken care of, lol...

Just a little update - Matthew and I were married this morning at 10 AM! We are now on the long trek back to Iowa.

I got to thinking and I think that I'm the last September 2009 filer to get married. That's a really weird thought lol.

I hope you all are well!!!

It's been really quiet in here lately, are we celebrating Halloween?
Maybe this news will wake us all up...
I'm pregnant!!!!!!

Ahhh!!!! That's so wonderful!!!! Congratulations!!! :D

So I've been trying to reply for days, but I keep getting distracted and then my post goes away. :(

We're actually moving to Lexington. Mathew found more jobs there that he liked. I'm just transferring stores with AT&T, but I'll be doing a completely different job. Right now I do like the inventory, merchandising, helping with the paperwork, and talking to customers when the store gets really busy--at the new store I'll actually be selling.

As most of you all know, we had been looking for a house for about 2 months with no luck. Every time we found a house we liked it was usually in the wrong part of town. Last week we went and stayed with my uncle during my days off of work so that we could go look at houses and just so happened that a house 2 miles away from my uncle is exactly what we're looking for. It's got 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a 2 car garage. But that's not the best part!!! The closet in the master bedroom is as big as our bedroom here at moms!!!! I saw that when the lady showed it to us and I was like "I'm home!". There's other people that want that house so we're trying to move quickly. Just as soon as I hear something from my transfer I'm going pay her the deposit on the house. Mathew refuses to buy for the first 2 or 3 years, so we'll be renting this one, but as long as I get that closet I'm okay with that! :)

No touches or anything on the GC since September 3rd. :( I had really hoped to at least get a touch on our filing anniversary.

Wow! You've been a busy bee! I'm glad you two found a house that you like and I hope you get it! Hopefully you hear something about the GC soon, too. It makes me wish that we could file right away, lol. I just want to be done with this all right now.

I start my training on Thursday, and I help setup next Tuesday. We're leaving for Niagara Falls next Thursday. I'm still surprisingly not stressed about the wedding, which is a good thing. He and I have been arguing a bit, but I think that's just because I'm a bit moody right now, lol.

I hope everyone else is doing alright, and I hope you all have a great day!

Wow! New job? New house? GO YOU, KAYLA!!! On the job front - I GOT ONE! FINALLY!!! Sure it's only seasonal right now (I'm selling calendars at the mall) but if I work hard, they might move me to the bookstore! SO EXCITED!!! And so HAPPY TOO!

As for the CSC thread - yeah, I definitely agree. WAY too much arguing and that's why I just tried to stay out of it as much as possible. I was always of the mindset that patience is a virtue, but I got snapped at when the NOA2s started rolling in and I hadn't gotten mine. Patience might be a virtue, but when everyone else was getting theirs, I started to get antsy, haha. Someone didn't like that very much and drama ensued. Meh. I'm glad I had this thread to turn to once the other one fell apart...

I hope you all are doing well! <3

Did anyone else feel a little strange, or sad, at seeing the 2010 September Filers thread? I know it sounds weird, but I saw that thread and felt a little heartache.. they are just starting out, getting to know each other, starting to stress togther, mail out fingers and toes, etc... and we are almost at the end of our Journey.

Just a few more Green Cards to go... It will be one year, this week, for Kayla, Karen, Krystle and me... come on ladies. I want to see one of you get the GC on the anniversary of your NOA1.

I know money is a little tight for some people right now, but what would you think of us actually trying to get together after everyone has AOS done? It might be too hard for some people, like Frenzy, who are so far away.. but Krystle, Kayla, Karen and I aren't THAT far from each other. We could pick some place in the middle and meet..

Atlantic City? Washington DC ( Ok.. that's pretty close for me... but just throwing places out there).

What do you think??

I am great at finding cheap places to stay, and cheap ways to get there... so for those people who are tryign to rely on one income right now ( or family) we could do this cheaply and have a nice weekend!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and I am goign to be looking for those AOS approvals on the 21 ( for Krystal) and 24th for Kayla and Karen

My one year passed back on September 11th. I did get a little nostalgic when I saw the 2010 Sept CSC filers pop up - and I think I'm the only CSCer that's still around from last year. Everyone else is married, haha - even those that were delayed! Hell, someone was in AP at Montreal for almost 4 months, and even she is married before me. It's okay, though. October 10th is right around the corner... and things are finally falling into place. My dress is bought, we reserved his tux today, our rings are being worked on.... all we have left is the marriage license, but we can't get that until we're actually in New York. We're even leaving Iowa on Thursday so that we have time to go pick it up on Friday. Fingers crossed that there aren't any issues, lol.

A meet up would be awesome, but like you said, might be pretty difficult for me... especially since I'm still working on the job issue, and have school... and I'm already taking the trip out to Niagara Falls for the wedding itself. I can see what I can do, though; it just depends on time and money. We're not going to be able to file for AOS until the end of January as it is now, lol. I would love to meet you all, that's for sure.

I hope you all are doing well and that things are going okay for you all. <3

Well, I didn't get either job. :( As much as it pained me to do so, I went back and talked to my old store manager at Arby's about getting my job back there -- only with more hours. It's not the most glamorous job in the world, but it's an income at least. In other news, we're going to "go to battle" and get his SSN this week. I'm taking in a page from their website that states that K1's can get SSN, so there should be no arguing about it. Also - I go in for my final dress fitting this Sunday, and we're going to go get him fitted for his tux this weekend, too. We're still hunting for a wedding ring set; I'm starting to wonder if we'll find one within our budget that we both like. :( Other than that, things are okay.

I hope things are going well with you all! :)

I cannot believe it's been a year already. Holy moly.

Here's something funny: Matt actually got a letter at his parents place stating that he had to report for jury duty on September 27th. LOL. That's going to be a little difficult if he can't leave the US!!! So now we have to send a letter stating why he can't, and I figure I'll scan some of the paperwork (like his 1-94, visa, and the page that states he can't leave the US) and send it along with the letter. We're both pretty amused by it, lol.

I can only guess why she wouldn't want to leave South Carolina -- It's absolutely GORGEOUS there. (I was born there, hehe :D)

Thanks for the well wishes! I've got a second interview at Best Buy on Tuesday with their general manager. Kinda nervous about this one, but the way I see it -- I've been through more stressful interviews! If nothing else, the interview in Montreal has taught me a level of calmness with things like that.

I had my first photoshoot today (I'm an aspiring photographer, hehe) and the pictures turned out amazing. Granted, it was only with my nephew, but we had so much fun at the park and the beach, so it was worth it.

I hope you all are doing well. Glad biometrics went quick for you, Krystle, and I hope Kenyth gets a job when you get to Indiana, Maggie! :) (I'm curious to see if her predictions turn out, too! )

ANOTHER JOB INTERVIEW. 2 in one day. Seriously? What the heck?! LOL. I realized after the fact that this second job is only seasonal, so I'm hoping more for the job at Best Buy, but still... I hope tomorrow goes as good as today did.

OMIGOSH YOU GUYS. Things are so slowly falling together, and the last few days have been AMAZING!!!

1. I GOT MY DRESS! My mom and I went to David's Bridal yesterday, and I tried on exactly 4 dresses. The down payment was an issue, but I got back to my house, and Matt called his parents and asked them! So now, I just have my alterations appointment on the 12th of September, and EEEEEEEK. ALL DONE! :D

2. I'M STILL IN SCHOOL! They approved my appeal! THIS IS SOOOO WONDERFUL!!!!

3. I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW ON THURSDAY! Granted, it's just Best Buy, but IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING! *fingers crossed*

4. Our venue AND hotel are booked, courtesy of his parents. God, I don't know where we'd be without them sometimes.

I cannot believe how many things are going right. Things don't go right for me normally, so this is a nice change of pace. I hope it keeps up! T-MINUS 1 MONTH, 2 WEEKS, 3 DAYS! YAY!!!! :)

Hope your days are all going well, too!!!!! (It's been pretty quiet around here....)

Awww, you all are so sweet and wonderful. I'm lucky to have people that I can turn to and know that they understand exactly what I'm going through. I tried to talk to my mom a bit about it, and while she tried to help, it didn't really end up helping at all, but I didn't have the heart to tell her that, of course.

Jenn - THANKS FOR THE PREDICTIONS :D Hopefully mine come true, hehe. And yeah, I live right in Des Moines, Iowa, which is where the office is. Still hoping above everything that we get transferred, though.

Things are getting easier, even if only a little each day. The plus side is that we have lived together before (up in Canada, when I was going to school up there) so it's not been a complete blind side, but down here, it seems to be a whole new ball game, and I seem to be striking out constantly.

Today has been horrible. In fact, the last week has been crappy for the most part. I don't know if it's because I'm stressed over everything or what, but I'm having a hard time adjusting to him being here. Usually it's the other way around. Don't get me wrong; I'm glad he is. I just ... I don't know. My wedding has gone from everything I've dreamed of to running off to Niagara Falls just so that his parents can go. My schooling has gone haywire. I doubt I'll be able to get a job until January at least because I need to focus on getting my schooling back on track, unless my financial aid appeal is denied, and then HEY I can get a full time job because I won't be able to go back to school. All the while, he's happily sitting back and isn't phased about anything in the slightest. I want to just pull my hair out, to be honest...

I'm sorry for ranting about this here. I really don't have anyone else I can talk to about this. I don't even feel like I can tell him about it because I don't want him to worry, nor do I want to cause problems between us. Aren't things supposed to be better now that we're together? :crying:

Sooo Mathew and I were taking a nap and then all of a sudden my phone goes off. Now I'm the type of freak that has to see my phone RIGHT NOW when something goes off on it. So when I look at it, what do I see?? A text saying we were transferred to CSC.

Jenn, you could probably make some big money off of your predictions. Care to predict the lottery numbers?? :innocent:

GRATS! :D (I'm the same way about my phone!)

Hey Jenn, am I going to be transferred to CSC? :P (The lottery numbers would be good, too, haha)

Thanks! I hope that darned biometrics letter comes soon, too! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :)

As for how things are going.. well.. it's been a weird sort of adjustment. I think we're both still getting used to the fact that he's not going back to Canada this time. He keeps slipping up on the little things, like him saying "I hope that comes to Canada..." in reference to the new smoothies from McDonald's. I just kind of looked at him and said "Why? You live here now, silly." It's nice, but getting unpacked and settled in has been very trying on both of us, and we've been fighting a lot the last few days; more so than we usually do, but it usually doesn't last too long.

POE was rather uneventful. We waited about 45 minutes to get to the actual border, and we were at the border for about 2 hours before they sent us on our way. Didn't bother to look in our U-haul or anything. The drive here, though... quite a different story. We got pulled over by Illinois State Police around 3 AM due to "improper lane usage" - he went over the white line on the far right of the highway a few times. The cop was nice and let him off with a warning, but not before having him go back and sit in the cop car with him while he ran Matt's information. We're assuming he wanted to make sure Matt hadn't been drinking. Other than that, we were greeted by thunderstorms at the Iowa border and lots of flooding. I'm currently running on about 45 minutes sleep, tops, but there's too much to do so I can't sleep yet. Ah well. it'll happen eventually, lol

Hope all of your days are going well!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 K-1 Visa Filers

Oh frenzy, I hope POE goes well today and I really hope the rest of the stuff works itself out. I would ignore the MOH and Mother in law. It's your wedding. Do whatever it is you guys want and need to do!

I hope financially it all works out in the end though and that you both have a beautiful wedding day...WITH FAMILY. How odd for the family to say they don't think they are going to make it to the wedding... geez.

Well, it wasn't because they didn't want to be there or anything. Their third son is severely autistic AND has MS, so they were having problems finding someone to come and stay with him for the weekend because it's Thanksgiving weekend up here. It was understandable, but I didn't enjoy the idea any less... hence the new idea came to pass, hehe. :)

I'm thinking I probably should have gotten more sleep last night... Oops...

OH GEEZ. Well, I'm glad you're able to get it back to them so quickly!

Tomorrow is my fiance's POE. Kinda nervous, kinda excited. Things have been absolutely insane with my wedding, though!

Problem #1: Had a decently built up idea for the wedding - MOH, 1 bridesmaid, and obviously mirrored on the groom's side. A few weeks ago, my MOH decides to tell me that she can't afford her dress despite that it's only $200 and she was told about it back in March. My future mother in law wanted to buy Matt's brother a suit instead of renting a tux, so there were some issues there. Matt and I talked and decided to just nix the whole bridal party thing, and have it just be us up there. MOH threw a fit, and mother in law was offended. Bridesmaid and Groomsman were okay with it though. I said whatever.

Problem #2: Ran into MAJOR financial complications, as in all the money I had planned to use for the wedding drifted right out the window. So, kind of screwed there if we can't find someone to help us. Luckily, some people are. :)

Problem #3: We had a BBQ/Reception/Going Away party for Matt last Sunday, and his mom decided to tell me that she didn't think that she, his dad and his brother would be able to make it to the wedding. This is not an option to me. You know how most people elope to get away from their family? Well, not only are we "eloping" WITH our families (his parents/sibling and my parents/siblings) but it was my mother's idea, and now our parents are working together to make sure that Matt and I are getting married, and the wedding has been moved from Iowa to New York -- Niagara Falls, to be precise! His family can attend, my family can attend, etc! The only person that can't is my biological Dad, but he's being a goober about some stuff anyways, so it may be better than he can't.

*LE SIGH* So yeah. I'm sorry for not posting lately. I hope you all are doing well, and I plan to catch up on the last few pages of this thread once I'm back home tomorrow night (well, hopefully tomorrow night, lol - depends on how long the border takes us...)

Take care!! :)

Mmkay. :) I wasn't sure, hehe. Yeah, we've got the Uhaul truck reserved for August 12th, so it's just a bit over a month left to go. As much as I love Canada, I'll be glad to be going back home.

Not sure if you mean September filers as a whole, or if you just mean your little group, but if it's Sept filers as a whole, I still haven't married yet, and I know of at least one other that hasn't married yet either. :) I'm actually pretty sure I'll be the last one to actually marry because even though my interview is in a few weeks, my wedding isn't until October, lol

Here's more proof that the luck jar is refilling: Matt's now working full time again (instead of just the 4 days a week thing he originally got)! Though, we both feel kind of bad for feeling so wonderful about it. The reason he's working full time is because one of the other employees had not one, but two seizures last week. He's alright, thankfully, but they still took his driver's license away from him, and we think that they do that for a minimum of three months, which means Matt's now working for three months. Wowwwwwie.

I've been sitting and pondering on what to post since I read Jenn's blog. The typical things that everyone else has said came to mind, and I echo each of them, but I guess I just didn't want to sound like a broken record. I know I haven't been "part of the group" for as long as everyone else (or even really part of it now, per se), but I do hope that things go in your favor, Jenn. You deserve all the happiness in the world.

I hope you all are doing well in every venture of your lives. :)

No no no! The luck jar is re-filling, like you told me Krystle!!!! Although it's not a whole lot, my fiance got a call from his boss this morning! 4-8 Mon-Thurs starting on Wednesday! HE'S WORKING AGAIN! I'm pushing allllll my inflated optimism at everyone now! Things are starting to look up, and I'm praying SO HARD that they start looking up for everyone else too!!!! I know I haven't been posting from the very beginning (well, I technically have, but then I migrated to the Sept 09 CSC thread, and then came back) but I do care about you all, and I wish only the best for you. You've all listened to me rant in my short time returning to this thread, and I'm here if anyone needs an ear!!

PLEASE try and have a good day everyone!!!

I'm heading out tomorrow or monday and doing the drive down to SC with my dad.

HAVE A SAFE TRIP!!!!!

OH! I keep forgetting to ask you - where's Kenyth stationed at? My dad (ex-Marine) was stationed in SC! :D In fact, I was born in SC! (Charleston, to be more precise)

Everyone cross your fingers, toes, and your friends fingers and toes for me today. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna need y'all to just go ahead and find a crossing buddy and cross yourselves together for me.

Do you have your crossing buddy????? ;)

I literally just walked over to Matt, crossed his fingers and his arms and then walked away. I think he's confused now. :D

(My Matt, I mean, obviously. LOL. Too many Matts! )
