Phew! whistling.gif Ok, I found at least one approval from yesterday! makes me happy.... They just havent filled in their timeline yet.
I bet there are more!

I just dont want CSC to slow down again. Power of positive thinking, people! yes.gif

It's funny because John NEVER got on this website when he was back home. I get home from work and I show him and he's excited that our number keeps going down. He's so laid back he never gets excited about anything so it's nice that he's excited about this!

I know what you mean!!! Matt is the same way lately. It's gotten to the point that he's asking me what number we are at before I even get a chance to look!!

Well John made it ok. He said that was actually the easiest time he has had going through immigration! All that worrying for nothing. Now I get to spend the next 8 weeks with him here. We are going back to England together on Christmas to spend the New Year then. Wooo Hooo I LOVE being with him smile.gif

I gotta say... I am a little jealous!!! happy.gif
So glad he entered without any hassles! Enjoy that time together!! I bet it will make the wait a little more bearable! yes.gif

YAY! I'm glad he got in okay!! Hopefully mine has no issues when he flies in here in about 17 days. biggrin.gif *fingers crossed* I can't waaaaaaait! LOL. biggrin.gif

I didnt expect it to move all weekend but it just jumped to 45%. If this keeps up they could start september filers this week!! Getting very excited now!!

Gotta say, I kinda squeaked a little bit when I read this, LOL.

Kizza, wouldn't it be awesome if we got our interviews on the same day? We could go for coffee or something, or dinner the night before. I know a bunch of the November Montreal interviews are doing that. Is your SO coming to the interview with you? (and I so just peeked at your profile and HOLY ####### -- my fiance's name is Matt, too! LOL!)

Awww, have fun with him! I don't get to see mine until the end of November, but that's okay -- his stay is over our 4 year anniversary, so we're going out to dinner and getting our engagement pictures done and stuff. Hopefully Iowa weather cooperates, but if it doesn't, we're going to have them done at the Botanical Center... so they should turn out nice either way! I'm hoping it's nice because I want some at the Asian Pavilion that is down by the river.

I'm all excited now biggrin.gif!

It's weird. On our timeline page, the dates keep moving more towards January, yet we're moving up on Igor's list... I don't know if I should be worried or excited, but I guess you can't go wrong with actual data that you've given, kizza. Thanks! biggrin.gif

For those of you going through Montreal afterwards, people are starting to write letters to try to get things moving. Check the US Embassies & Consulates forum for more details if you want to take part in that.

I saw some of them. I'm still thinking about whether I'm going to write a letter or not. I'm wondering if it would just fall on deaf ears because of the fact that I'm not even at the consulate stage yet... I don't know.

I think a part of me is still hoping that we all will get approvals sooner than we plan, but that might just be wishful thinking, lol.

same for me... I never really hoped for anything earlier than my timeline says, mid-decemberish, but now that I know how backlogged Montreal is, Im just really really hoping my approval doesnt go over the predicted timeline.

Ditto, but I'm not looking forward to the consulate stage. With how backlogged Montreal is, I'm trying to not let my hopes get so far up that we'll be married next year... that way, if we somehow do, lovely surprise! biggrin.gif (trying to keep my head up -- it's not working too well, but I'm surviving at least...)

I'm anxious for NOA2 -- getting the feeling I'll get it around Christmas. That's when my problems will really start. Apparently, the Montreal Embassy is horribly backlogged (worse than CSC) and it's taking 6+ months for interview dates for some people.

Now I'm scared and worried ... Sigh. sad.gif July 31st seems to be flittering out of sight for me. Hell, I'm even worried that October 10th might be gone as well. There just seems to be no change with Montreal for awhile now... sad.gif

October 10th is a great date!

Geeeeez I do hope you guys (and me and my man) are together by July 31st!!! this has been long enough already!

We thought it was kind of quirky, too, since we're both into computers... it's kind of like binary code, lol.

We're crossing our fingers for July. The good news is that we're seeing each other next month ANNNNND we're getting engagement pictures done! We had some studio ones done last February, but these will be the real deal. biggrin.gif!!

First off, I'd love to congratulate Krystle on her little one!! Glad to hear that you all are doing well. I would LOVE to see pics eventually! I'm sure he's totally adorable!!!

I hope all of your preparations are helpful, Kayla!! I know you want to be a momma, and I pray it all works for you.

Things are going well with everyone else, too, it would seem.... I hate to be the one that drags it all down, but alas....

Things were going super awesome. Matt loves his job and the pay is way better than we could have even imagined. I was actually being optimistic for once, and had even started dieting again - with positive results!!! It was all great....until June 7th. We've been living without power since then because old wiring in our attic decided it didn't like being old anymore, and ignited. Luckily, we were all home at the time and my mom (having the almost paranoid -in a good way- keen sense of smell) got the fire department out here just in time. We didn't lose the house to the fire, but there is a lot of smoke damage and, of course, the lack of electricity, and our hallway/stairway/attic were completely torn out by the fire department. Half hour more, and the house would have been gone. My parents went to the county to try and get some help for the electrical repairs (they certainly don't have it, and neither do Matt and I) and are now trying to raise the necessary funding to coincide with the amount they can help us with. (the bid was $5,100, and they can only give us $1,190...) Matt's family has branched out to all of their friends asking to help, and we've had friends on WoW donate - it's been almost unreal. More strangers have helped us in the past week and a half than some of our own family members. So that's where we stand at this point. We are trying to raise as much as we can by Monday, and the county inspector guy will talk to his supervisor and see if they can't just give us the rest of it. If they can, then the electrical guys will be in on Tuesday to fix it all, but if they can't, work won't start until we raise the rest of the necessary funding. We raised $440 in less than 24 hours, which is definitely helpful, but I doubt we are going to raise the rest, or even break 1k, so we have our fingers crossed that we get that "directors exception" and that they help with the rest of it. We've been without power for 12 days now....and I gotta say - IT SUCKS, lol.

Anyways, sorry to drag you all down, but I was just hoping that in telling you, you all could keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Maybe the more we have, the more likely that good things will happen! :)

Take care everyone, and I will update you all again soon.

SO MUCH has happened for us! I'll just bullet it!

  • I didn't end up getting the overnight position.
  • In fact, after the 20th, I won't be working there anymore. Lots of reasons went into this decision. Planning to try and find something closer to my home/school
  • Matt's green card was approved, and showed up yesterday!
  • We went to get his license today, fully expecting him to have to take the written and driving test. Canada is apparently 1 of 2 countries that they allow simple exchanging of licenses... so all he had to do is get his picture taken and voila! He's licensed... which is good becauseeeee.......
  • Matt got a job! He filled out all of one application, and was filling out the question survey, and they called him for an interview. I feel a little guilty about this, since i know others here have tried for ages to get a job. Anyways, he's still working in lawn care, which is good, because that's what he has (6 years) of experience in...
  • I managed to do alright in school this semester, despite barely attending and finishing everything at the last minute.

Even though I'm leaving my job, we'll still be okay financially, because I have my financial aid leftovers and he's going to be making more here than he was in Canada.

SO YEAH. Wow. Insanity. GOOD insanity, but still insanity nonetheless.

Krystle's going to have her baby soon (if she hasn't already!) and I'm so, so excited for her! I hope everyone else is doing well, too! <3

Awww, that's sad. You are important!!!! If I were there, I would definitely go! I hope you have an amazing shower anyways! So excited for the little guy to be born! Hehe :D

We got his EAD/AP combo card in the mail today! He's got a few places that he's going to apply for, so hopefully he'll be working soon! I'm contemplating switching to the overnight crew, too, so maybe we'll actually get to see each other during the day. I have to talk to HR tomorrow, but I can't see why they wouldn't let me, especially since they are looking for full time overnights.

Take care, everyone!

You deserve the break, Kayla! I'm so thrilled for you and Mathew!

I'm going a little bonkers waiting for his GC, lol... lots of others are getting EAD and AP, and some have green cards or interviews... and ours just sits there. BLAH! It'd be nice to get it, and him find a job, so we can finally move past this chapter in our life and actually start living. We want our own place so badly, and part of me wants to just up and move to another city or another state or something. It's not that I want to be away from my family, but it'd be exciting to live somewhere new... does that make any sense?

That's super amazing! Congratulations to him! If it helps, I think your fears are justified. It is scary to move out the first time!

On our front - we got his biometrics done, and now we're waiting. A bunch of the other Feb11 filers have gotten interview dates, and there's at least one that's already gotten their green card. Maybe we should have done an early walk in for biometrics, even though they (our office) really dislike it when people do that. :( He's getting depressed due to lack of activity, and we had our first really, really REALLY major fight the other day (though it wasn't over jobs or lack thereof).. I don't even know. :/

LOL I think, at this point, that's all that's getting me through this - knowing I can finally take care of us and such. I've started living day by day, telling myself "Just gotta make it through today!" and kind of just going with whatever happens. It's a big change for me because I'm used to having order and organization in every aspect of my life; things planned out weeks in advance and all that. Life sure has thrown some curveballs, but I'm more confident than ever that I'll get through it.

Still keeping you all in my prayers, because so many wonderful things deserve to happen to you all!!! :)

Work is INSANE. I'm pulling between 35-40 hours a week now. That's not something I'm used to, and it's taking quite a bit to GET used to it. Before now, I've never held a full time job like that, plus I'm a full time student. Everything is falling behind, but it's okay! I will get through it! The good news is that I get to do a bit of traveling next week - I'm off to DC! Unfortunately, it is without hubby. I'm actually going with my school for a very hugely discounted rate given everything I get to do. I'm pretty excited!

Hubby's birthday is next week, and we have his biometrics appointment the day before, and then I leave the day after... so it's going to be crazy, but to be honest? I love it. :)

I'm glad you all are well!!! <3

In some great news: We were transferred to CSC! :D No RFE after all, apparently, which is leading us to believe he actually DID sign the form... or they are just being very nice and not caring. Finally! The last September09 filer to go through the process and it's almost done!

I really do hope you all are doing well!!!!

Just checking in on everyone. Hope you all are better than I've been. I can't seem to keep myself off the injured list. I rolled my ankle (BADLY) a few days ago and ended up having to call in on my 4th day of work, and it's been a struggle to get myself walking again. Luckily, I can now, so the next two days (although painful) should be fine for work. I managed to shut my fingertips in the window on my car this morning, too, but nothing too terrible happened other than my fingers hurting most of the day...

In AOS news, we got our text messages; now just awaiting NOA1 hard copies ... and that RFE I just know is going to show up, lol.

I hope you all are well!!! :]

.... SJFEIPURPOIUQACMNXC

I just realized that, while I had Matt WRITE his name at the bottom of the G325-A (the part that says PRINT your name and Alien Number), I forgot to have him SIGN it where it says to sign. I even checked the form SIX TIMES to make sure it was all right, yet I just realized it wasn't signed.

I feel like crying right now, because now I know we're going to get an RFE... like we really needed to wait any longer. :(

FINGERS, TOES, EYES, ARMS, LEGS! ALL OF THEM ARE CROSSED! Good luck! :D

I'm a little ticked at the moment because I got overnight express on our AOS packet, and USPS website hasn't updated to say whether it was delivered on time or not. Last thing it says is "Processed through Sort Facility, February 23, 2011, 6:07 am, CHICAGO, IL 60701" and it was supposed to be delivered by noon today! GRRRRRRRR. If it doesn't change soon, I'm going to have to put a stop payment on the check or something. :( I really hope it got there okay. I mean, I have access to all the stuff that was in it, so I'm not worried if I have to send it again, but yeesh....

Hope you all are well!

Today has been a WHIRLWIND. We had originally planned to mail off our AOS packet today... until brainiac me remembered that DUUUUUH IT'S PRESIDENT'S DAY and thus there's no mail, and the post office isn't open. SO I spend the morning working on my homework. At about 8:30, a random phone number pops up on my phone, and seeing as it's incredibly early, I just let the voicemail pick it up. Lo and behold, it's Walmart calling about the application I put in almost a month ago. I call back, and she offers and interview. Now, I had that interview a few days ago, and I was fairly optimistic about getting the job, however, I have been losing sleep over whether I could actually PERFORM the job well - it's a gas station clerk at the best chain of stations in Iowa, and they are always very very hectic and busy. I decide to go ahead and take the interview at Walmart, just to see how it plays out, and my mom says "Well, I'd seriously just take whichever job lands in your lap first. A paycheck is a paycheck at this point." and I agree with her. I go in for the first interview, and proceed to have the second AND the third on the spot. They send me off for a drug test and voila! EMPLOYMENT! Plus sides? It's up to 40 hours a week, and only .5 less than I would have been making at the gas station. Downside? It's allll the way on the other side of town, so gas is going to be an issue for awhile, lol... but I don't care! I have a JOB.

Okay, so now that I've rambled on for awhile, I'm going to go before I bore you all to tears. I hope you all are doing well, and you are all in my prayers all the time! Take care!

(Oh and we're mailing AOS off tomorrow! EEEEE!!! lol)

OKAY. Gathering the packet together! My aunt took a bit longer to get her stuff together than we planned (we had wanted to mail it off on the 10th... ) but it's okay! Double opinions are great! Here's a list of the contents, and hopefully I'm not forgetting anything!

AOS:
G-1145
I-485
G-325A
Copy of his birth certificate
Copy of his K1 Visa
Copy of Marriage License
Copy of NOA2
Copy of his I-94
Copy of his passport biographical page
I-864 (Me)
I-864 Supplemental explaining why I didn't include taxes (they don't exist, lol)
I-864 (Aunt)
Aunt's taxes/W2s for the last 3 years
Copy of Aunt's birth certificate
Letter from Aunt's employer
2 Pictures of Matt
1 bank-breaking Hello Kitty check for $1,070.00 :crying:
Copy of Vaccination Record given in Montreal
Envelope from Civil Surgeon from here in the States

EAD:
G-1145

2 Pictures
Copy of biographical page
Copy of K-1 Visa/I-94

AP:
G-1145
I-131
2 Pictures
Copy of biographical page
Copy of K-1 Visa/I-94

Can you all see anything that I could possibly be missing? Also, did you just put the check in, or did you seal it in an envelope? I thought about putting it in a ziploc bag like I did the pictures, but then I thought about an envelope because that's how I did it for his K1 visa... guess I want your opinions, too.

Can't believe we're finally at this point! AND I have a job interview today! A -great- job, too! I hope you all are doing well, and hopefully things continue to go well for you all, too! Take care, and thanks in advance for all of your help!!! :D

Jenn! I'm SO GLAD he's still here!!! Hopefully things can continue to go positively and you two work everything out! You deserve to be so, so very happy!!

Krystle, I'm so excited that he's kicking! I will continue to pray that everything turns out well!

Well, I filled out all the forms this morning, and now all we're waiting on is our checks to show up in the mail, and the paperwork from my aunt, and then we can mail it all off! Exciting and amusing fact - our checks match the design on my debit card... so when USCIS opens up our application, Hello Kitty will be staring them directly in the face. Oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall at that point, just to see if it's amusement or annoyance, lol.

Sadly, still no progress on the job front. My sister has a friend that works at one of the better lawn care companies here in Iowa, and she talked to him and he told her that once Matt can work, he will try to get him a job. PROSPECT! It's going to be my luck, though - Matt will have a job before I do. I can almost guarantee it!!!

Please take care of yourselves! <3

Well we have been without net for a few weeks, but things have been steady. Definitely not great but not too horrible. My seasonal job ended last week and I've yet to find something else. Our hot water heater has decided not to stay lit so no hot water. Our car insurance company told us that if Matt doesn't have a US license by March 25, they are canceling the policy for the entire house, and we can't get his license until his EAD arrives. Im stressed beyond belief and its affecting my body (because there is no way my lack of period is caused by pregnancy - I can 100% guarantee that)....

But other than that things are okay. I'm trying to stay positive and looking forward to mailing off our AOS package here in a few weeks. School is good too.

I've been keeping you all in my thoughts. I hope good things are coming to you all. I'm glad to read that Fuat didn't leave - I hope he's still there, too.

Please take care of yourselves!! <3

Things have been steadily getting better and better. My sister and her fiance got married today! Lo and behold, my AUNT (on my step dad's side) showed up to the wedding. Not only did she bring Matt and I a belated wedding gift (GORGEOUS frame), but she also offered us her rental property when my sister and her husband move out AND she offered to be our co-sponsor! To say I was blown away is the understatement of the century. We had contemplated asking her, but thought she would have said no, so we passed it up. She lives on her own and makes a very cushionable amount of money per year (I suppose you would if you were working for the Department of Transportation, and had been for QUITE a number of years) so having her as co-sponsor would be superb.

Oh, I hope all of you are doing better this week. I know things are still tough, but hopefully everything will look up soon. And Kayla, I'm all for those margaritas, even if there is no fail! :P Take care, everyone! <3

As far as the job in Iowa, Mathew didn't get it.

Awww nuts. :(

As it turns out, we were figuring out my sister's income based on her being paid bi-weekly. We got onto the subject of them feeling bad that they couldn't help, and I was trying to explain how we came to that conclusion, when my sister pipes in with "Sis! I get paid weekly! Not bi-weekly!" Cue massive spaz out! She works about 35-45 hours a week, making $8.77 an hour. She, alone, makes almost $20,000, and he's made $12,000 just since March. UM. LOL. They make enough if we're all counting right! I'm just a little confused about how the whole co-sponsor thing works. They are living together, not married (YET! That's in like a WEEK LOL). She claims their son right now. She's filling out the I-864, and he fills out the I-864A to add his income into it because she doesn't make enough on her own? Maybe I should ask in the AOS forums just to make sure I do this right, lol... but you ladies are just so knowledgeable and I don't want to do this wrong! I'm the last of the September filers to do this, lol...

Any suggestions? :D

Hope the new year is finding you all well so far! I know there are still situations going on that will make things otherwise... but other than those, I hope all is good. (and thank you, in advance, if you help!!)

Frenzy, I just re-read your post and my reply and notice that I didn't post what I wanted to say, I was so distracted. However, I hope that they agree to be your do-sponsor and that they won't change their minds ;)

Frenzy.. how are things on your end?

Kind of just running with the whole post quoting thing. My sister and her fiance don't make enough to help. They are about $5k short, and since they don't own any property or anything like that... yeah. So we're back to square one. We're going to go try and talk to my grandfather again, and see if his (Matt's) suspicions about it just being the wrong time are correct. I found out a few days after Christmas that 2 of my cousins apparently got into a fist fight and my grandfather got in the middle and nearly got knocked over himself, so Matt could be right. If he says no, we have an aunt on my step-dad's side we're talking to, and if she says no... we're screwed. Not even going to lie, that scares the heck out of me. I feel like a failure enough as it is because I can't seem to get a job anywhere better... and when I do find a job, they call me the day of my drug screening and tell me that they've put a freeze on hiring and can't hire anymore until AFTER Christmas. Oh, yeah, did I mention I was THISCLOSE to having a job at Walmart? Yeah. :( Foot was in the door and they slammed it. I'm only hoping they call me after the New Year.... or heck, that I get a decent response when I call them because I WILL CALL.

Other than that, we're just counting down the days until we're able to file. He's starting to get fidgety just sitting around here all the time, and wants to work.

The other good news is that I should be done with school by this time next year....... LOL. Seems so far, but it really isn't in the grand scheme of things, I guess...

Fuat has decided to leave. He bought his ticket yesterday and goes home on January 10th.

Jenn... my goodness. My heart is breaking for you right now. After all you've been through... to have it end like that is terrible. My own prayer is that you overcome this like you've done everything else, and that it makes you stronger. You are a wonderful person, and while I can understand culture differences, it doesn't make the situation suck any less. My thoughts and prayers are continuing to stay with you, and I hope life's small blessings help you through this rough patch.

Hope everyone had a great first Christmas together!

We enjoyed our first Christmas together, and spent most of it hunting for a new co-sponsor. My grandpa decided to tell us yesterday that he didn't know if he wanted to be our co-sponsor. Christmas? Of all days? REALLY? Oy. We're just waiting to hear back from my sister and her fiance about how much they make, and if they make enough, we'll use them. I'm really hoping they do, because we don't have anyone else. Other than all that drama, yesterday was wonderful.

Krystle - I've been popping in here, and I did see what you posted about your little one, and I've been trying to think of what to say, but have fallen short. Guess all I can do is echo what has been said by others already, and I'll keep you all in my prayers that it turns out differently. Either way, I do believe that you will have the strength, no matter what the situation is, to persevere and come out stronger than you were before.

Kayla - How'd the job interview goooo???? lol Any news?

I hope you all are doing well otherwise. I can't wait to get the whole AOS thing done at the end of January. I'm ready for it! Take care everyone!

We'll definitely have to do that!

We're leaving monday at 1:20 and we'll be in Cedar Rapids by 4:30 and then we're leaving back out at 5pm the next day. I looked over the weather and it's supposed to be fairly calm so lets just hope it stays that way. We've still got 5 to 6 inches on the ground here. :(

Okay, just to let you both know, we're under a blizzard warning right now, and it's supposed to stick around until tomorrow morning. I'm not sure what Cedar Rapids looks like right now, but if I know Iowa, the weather is going to suck all throughout the week. If you're going to be driving in CR, just be careful. I'd hate for anything bad to happen to you!!! Hopefully *FINGERS CROSSED* the weather clears up before you travel.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE INTERVIEW!!!

Mathew's interview went great, and he got his invitation to go to Iowa for an on-site interview! Things are finally starting to look up for us, I just hope the good luck continues and he lands this job.

Well, hopefully he gets into Cedar Rapids and out before any major snow storms. We are supposed to get a few inches over the next few days, but I don't think it's anything considerable. I'm so happy for you both, and hey, if you move here, maybe we could get coffee sometime! :) Good luck!! :D

I just asked him about those websites and he says he's been using them but I've only ever seen him use Indeed.

He actually called Rockwell Collins yesterday about an app he put in and the lady said he was still in the running for it and that it all looked good so he'll probably get an interview call soon. I hope! This one is in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Cedar Rapids is GORGEOUS!!! Just make sure you get a place that isn't by any major source of water, though. It tends to flood out here in the summer. Don't let that discourage you, though!!! :]

You don't get you DL right away??

We used to, but now it's this central issuance type system. They punch a hole in your old card, give you a printed off copy of your new one, and mail you the new one (HOPEFULLY) within 21 days. It's a bit ridiculous if you ask me. You're right, though - normally, that's not something I want to hear, but it's okay. Whether I realize it or not, it does help to hear that every now and then. Things are looking up a little bit more now, and I've been pretty upbeat the last few days. I'm hoping it sticks around for a bit, hehe.

I'm not sure which job you were thinking of applying for, but the company is great.

Just a Part Time retail sales consultant, at least for now. My schedule opens up a bit next semester (3 night classes and random classes on tues/thurs) so working would be a little bit better come that time, lol. (At least I think, anyways) I'm going to go into the store upstairs from my work - which is actually the one I got my phone from - and see what the lady says. I finished the application and submitted it, but didn't do the follow up stuff, so maybe they still have my application somewhere, haha.

As for Christmas, well... not really sure what we're doing, simply due to lack of funds and what have you. We're just working on surviving day to day... but tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary, haha, so we're going to hole up and watch a movie together or something. :D

Kayla, you aren't the only one wondering if you should have moved to Canada instead of him moving down here. I've been having those thoughts a LOT lately, and it's come to a point where we've decided to go through with the 2 year GC, but at the end of the 2 years, we'll be making our final decision between Canada and the US. He had a pretty decent and stable job up there (by no means the greatest, of course, but better than my pathetic excuse of a "job" down here) and so it's been pretty difficult to admit that maybe we should have thought this out better. Then again, I didn't think things would get as bad as they have. We're so VERY lucky to be living with my parents right now, rent free, but daily survival is getting tougher, simply due to my stupid lack of money. I'm still hunting for better jobs, of course. What's interesting is that I thought about applying at AT&T (they are hiring like MAD here) but when I went to do the application, they talked about all the training/possible traveling for said training, and with school, that's something that I wouldn't be able to do.. so it was back to the drawing board.

I suppose the good news is that I'm almost done with the whole name changing process. I have my new SS card, and am now just waiting for my new DL to show up in the mail. It feels a little weird signing something different, but it's kind of fun, too, hehe.

I hope you all are doing well.

Got our license in the mail and I'm going to start the name change process on Monday! I'm actually kind of excited about it! (I'm sure that will pass...) It feels all official now, hehe. It's a very nice feeling, and I can't wait until we're done with USCIS for 2 years...
