K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam

The biggest risk is that they find something suspicious on your Xray and make you take a long test that can delay your interview by months. In general there aren't a lot of things that will cause you to get denied. HIV, TB, those yes. But even with TB if they find you have it, they will require treatment before you can enter the US.

I assume that if you are HIV positive you will never get a visa.

But they are not looking to make sure you have perfect health. They are looking for a very few specific things that can cause problems. If you feel your health is good, then don't worry about the medical.

Actually, since 2009 foreigners trying to visit or immigrate to the US are not required to have an HIV test, so if someone is HIV positive he/she can get a visa, since it will not interfere with their immigration.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 VS K3, which one is the best route to go?
I believe that the fiancee visa is slightly faster. A friend asked the embassy which visa they should use and they recommended the fiancee visa. I also found on one of the websites FAQ where they recommended the fiancee visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Questoin 11
QUOTE (INCT @ Sep 9 2008, 06:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

You guys are getting me nervous with your comments about the Affidavit of Support. I plan on having it notarized tomorrow. Quick question - on the affidavit of support, question 11 - do I check intend or do not intend specific contributions to support the person named in item 3?? Or N/A Fiance Visa.

Thanks!

Question 11 on form I-134 is only for visitors that are truly temporary, such as tourists. For a K-1 or K-3 visa the answer would be "No".
IowaguyMaleMexico2008-09-10 17:13:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCouple questions for the I-134
I believe that I used the NOA1 date when I filed for #10. I wanted a date that would match something at USCIS.

For #11, use the "No" or "do not intend..." You can also put "N/A"down as well. This is for visitors that are temporary, like tourists.

I am confused about this as well. I know everyone says, just check the forms, but not all of the example forms on here are correct and when we post on a forum it is because we want to know what you, a fellow K1 visa filer put on your form, especially if it got approved.

On #10 are you supposed to put the day you filed the I-94 or the day you received your NOA1?

Most importantly, On #11 are you supposed to check Yes, No or leave it blank when they ask if you intend to make specific contributions. The example form leaves it blank. I can see why you wouldn't want to say "Yes" if you are planning to fully support them, but is the correct answer "No" or is it actually supposed to be left blank.

Thank you for your help. I hope we get some answers soon as my fiance is having to file ours on Monday morning with our packet 3.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCouple questions for the I-134
For #10, put the name of your fiancee and the date you filed for your K-1 (or K-1 NOA). Underneath your fiancee's name, put: (Subject of this affidavit.) Relationship is "Fiancee".

For #11, I put "I do not intend to make specific contributions." Since I was going to marry my wife, I was taking full financial responsibility and not making specific payments to her for her support.

I hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInvitation letter, What is it???

What is an Invitation letter i have read so much about it but have no idea what it is and also appointment confirmation letter, do you get this when you schuelde your interview online? I already paid the $350 visa processing fee online.

Thank you

The invitation letter would be the letter you receive from the consulate giving instructions on how to set up an appointment and saying that your fiancee visa case is ready for processing. If you receive a letter (or confirmation) after setting up the appointment then bring that, too. When my wife went through the process she just had to show up in Ciudad Juarez and there was no specific appointment. Just long lines.

I would also recommend looking at the consulate's website: http://ciudadjuarez.....gov/hivfiance/ That gives a good overview of the process and you can also view & print out the fiancee packet they send.

frenzy, with the consulate canceling today's interviews and possibly tomorrow's, and the domestic airport (SDU) closing down canceling all of the flights toda and tomorrow (and the airline apparently canceling on Thursday), L couldn't make the interview at all. He just couldn't get to Rio. He could have met me in Sao Paulo, but AA was going to charge more than I could afford to put him on the plane to Rio (and even then, he was gonna miss his medical). The small handful of flights into the international airport (GIG) were *obscenely* expensive :(

That really, really stinks!!! I'm so sorry! Hopefully the weather will start cooperating with everyone... then again, this is the weather we're talking about.

I realllllly hope Maggie's interview goes better than mine ended up. With the weather in Rio, SDU (which is right next to the consulate) is closed, and the consulate is closed as well and is expected to be closed the remainder of the week (as this terrible weather is expected to continue until then). L's flight into SDU was cancelled of course, but mine into GIG was just "delayed" and I was able to talk my airline into giving me an open ended rebooking due to the weather.

I hope you get in there soon!!! (and I must say: YAY ANOTHER DES MOINES PERSON :D!)

Went to my grandparents' house today.....

*DRAMATIC PAUSE* :star:

WE HAVE A CO-SPONSOR!!!!!! The even better news is that he has his taxes from the last few years, so we don't have to wait for the transcripts to show up. The only thing we're waiting on is the letter from his employer. There's a REALLY good chance that, when I leave for Canada on Friday, I'll be taking ALL the documentation with me!!

You know, this WHOLE process is teaching me who I can call FAMILY, and who I'm simply just "related" to. I'm finding that people I thought I could call family (ie my aunt) suddenly aren't as awesome as I thought they were, and that people who aren't even my blood relatives (ie Matt's parents - who are helping so much financially with the wedding and such, and my stepdad's parents) deserve the family status.

But enough of my drama... I'm really hoping everything's okay with Maggie!!! You'll have to let us know when you find out, Kayla!!!
frenzyheartFemaleCanada2010-04-04 19:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 K-1 Visa Filers

Oh no, I hop your aunt changes her mind. Keep this in mind, you can never explain certain things to older people, not only that they believe they know it all due to their years! Relax and my fingers are crossed for you.

Mmm, yeah. I'm not counting on her changing her mind. We had a bit of vehicle trouble today (with multiple vehicles, if you can believe our crappy luck) so we're heading over to my grandparent's place tomorrow to talk to them.

The bad news is that ... yeah, I'm without co-sponsor right now. The good news is that I'm heading up to Canada a week early!!!! It makes no sense for my fiance to take a day off work to drive down and get me when he has a whole week off a week earlier, so he's heading down here this next Wednesday to get me! :D Luckily, my mom is playing messenger, and says that the second she gets all the paperwork from my grandparents, she'll UPS it first class overnight and all that jazz.

I'm a little worried, yes, but praying that things work out!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 K-1 Visa Filers
.... :girlwerewolf2xn: .... <-- That is me right now. Literally. I want to scream and pull my hair out and disown part of my family. I've been in hysterics for most of the day over this, and need to rant somewhere where people might just understand what I'm going through (to a point.)

Okay, so, Matt and I asked my uncle to co-sponsor us. He says okay, and we take the paper work over. My aunt proceeds to have a conniption fit over the fact that they have to supply tax information. "I don't feel secure just letting people see my personal tax information." blah blah blah. I could understand if it was some random people or whatever, but it's the US government.... SERIOUSLY. I re-assured her that the only people that would be seeing it would be the US government, and obviously myself just so that I could make sure everything was there and properly filled out and such. She seemed to be okay with it, so I left them to it. This was about 2 or so weeks ago. I called my uncle today to find out how it's going since I'd like to have all the paperwork ready to go before I leave for Canada on the 18th. He proceeds to tell me that there were some issues with a set of taxes, and that they're trying to get it taken care of as quickly as possible. Then he drops the bomb: My aunt is still having problems giving up this tax information. She wants to know if we can just fax it to "the office" - meaning directly to the Consulate in Montreal. Um, no. Sorry. it doesn't work that way, and I told him so. "Well I don't care about what people see, but she doesn't feel comfortable with it at all." So I point out the little fact of who all would see it again, and that, um, hello, it's the US government, who pretty much has access to it anyways. "Well then why can't they just get it from there?" ... So now I'm trying my hardest not to burst into tears on the phone with him, and we finish talking (I fully believe him when he tells me that it's really not him that's causing the "hold up" because he doesn't care; in fact, he wants me to come over this weekend so we can talk about the wedding and he can see what else he can help with) and I hang up. My mother proceeds to practically disown her sister (there's a lot of behind the scenes ####### with this family, lol) and tells me that we're going to go over to my grandparent's place tomorrow and talk to them.

So here it is, 2 weeks before I'm leaving for Canada, and a month before our interview... and I pretty much have no co-sponsor.

Could things get any worse?

Yeah, it can, and it already has, but that's another completely unrelated story that can be dealt with in time.

I hope you all are having a better day month year life (lol) than I am. If you read all that, I thank you from my entire heart. :luv:

The way we will be doing it is that we will have sand already poured in the bottom that represents the love, trust, faith, and togetherness that makes our relationship strong. Then I will have my parents and his parents come and pour a little bit of sand from our respective jars to symbolize the two families. And then Mathew and I will pour the rest of the sand from our jars into the vase, mixing them together.

OMIGOSH!! How ironic! That's what we're doing, too, only we were just going to mix the two colors from our wedding into one vase. Yours sounds a lot more unique! I like this idea more than the candle because the vase is more climate temperate. You have to be so careful with candles and I'm so afraid something would happen to it, lol...

Antonio and I are all official now, and I wanted to post a couple of pics and thank everyone for all your help these long months.

Your dress is so pretty!! :D

Okay, so it's morning, but I just want to go back to bed. I hate season changes, and what's worse is that I'm dealing with seasonal allergies now, and in a few weeks, I'll be dealing with my body going haywire over the atmosphere change when I go to Canada. I don't know why, but I always get sick within the first few days of going up there, then I'm fine... and then once I'm back in the States, it happens again. Weirdo body. Bleh.

Hope you all are having a good morning!

hmm.. theres someone else in here with an Interview of April 1st...

lol grats though I think I forgot!

I really hope the CO's dont try and have too much fun on April 1st... I know I wouldn't like it if they pretended they weren't going to approve me and then suddenly went "APRIL FOOLS!"

Something like that kind of happened to my stepdad today. He was at a job interview and the guy came out and said "Well, we filled all of our positions." so my stepdad and the other few people standing there were sort of giving them the look like "Okay, so why are we still here then?" and the guy goes (after a minute or so) "Congratulations. You're hired!" My stepdad has been out of work for over a year (which is why we had to go to my aunt/uncle for co-sponsorship) so he told me that when they said the positions were filled, his heart sank to the bottom of his stomach. They're right at the end of his unemployment benefits, so him getting this job was a blessing, because my mom's daycare doesn't have that many children in it right now. Things have been bad, but I must say that they are looking up. I just have to stay optimistic.

...Lol, sorry for the random wall of text. If you guys read it, thanks! LOL.

I really don`t think they`d deny you for not having enough evidence. If they were going to do that, it would have already happened. They pretty much know if they will approve or deny you before you even go in to your interview, so I really wouldn`t be worried. Just bring what you have, and be sure to answer honestly and with confidence. Picture them in their underwear if it makes you feel better.

Okay. I feel a little bit more secure now. We don't have any phone bills or anything from before (I have a few since I switched to AT&T, but that's it.) but we do have a lot of pictures from our engagement shoot, and some boarding passes and the horribly faded copy of our engagement ring receipt, so hopefully we'll be okay. My mom keeps telling me "You know, they're going to take one look at the way you two look at each other and they're going to know you aren't lying, so QUIT. WORRYING. You two are MEANT to be together, and they are going to approve you so quickly!" ... Maybe I should listen, eh? LOL!

I'll be able to tell you if they ask for more stuff if you're there alone.. lol.

Luckily, I'm not sending him into the lion's den alone. I'm the USC, so it's become a scramble to get everything ready to go in 3 weeks so I can head up there early to gather the various stuff we need from up there. This process is so crazy... I think we all need a huge vacation, LOL!

Kayla, first off... GRATS ON GETTING APPROVED -- though we knew you would!!!!!

And a smallish question: what kinds of relationship proof did you take? All we really have is a couple cards and such. I can't seem to get the stupid phone bills from US Cellular before I moved up to Canada for school. GRR. Also - did you make photocopies of stuff, or just put the original in or both or...

Uh oh. I think I might just have a cow now. What if we don't have enough proof? I know they didn't look at yours... but knowing our luck, they'd look at ours. :( I've had the same nightmare over and over: we take in what we have, and they rifle through it, ask "Is this all? It's not very much, is it..." and then deny us. I can't tell you how many nights I've woken up to that nightmare... :(

Went to talk to my aunt/uncle tonight about being co-sponsor, and I thought my aunt would go through the roof when I stated they needed her tax transcripts. "I don't feel comfortable giving them that!" she says. I'm thinking "HELLO. You're giving the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT your TAX information... which they already have access to to begin with.. OY!" But it's okay, because it isn't going to be her as co-sponsor after all; it's going to be my uncle, who is calling tomorrow to order 3 years of tax transcripts. :D

One less stress on my part!

You should be able to request a one or two week (or even a month) delay without problems - just tell them that you wanted to be there but can't be in Canada until after the 15th because of school, and could you please reschedule. I know we were able to, in Brazil, and the only rule Brazil has is that you can't schedule sooner than one month from the current date.

In fact, you should probably put that request in to the consulate *now* before they've assigned it -- it's always easier to get it right the first time than to change it! :)

Hmmm yeah, we probably could, but this semester is going horribly anyways, and I'm in the midst of changing my major to something where this semester is pretty null & void as it is. I know at least one of my professors will be willing to work with me, but as for the other two, I'm not sure; I'm just going to have to talk to them and find out. I'm just ready to go back to Canada, even if it means going a bit earlier.

Well, it's looking like I could possibly get our interview date this week! I've been fairly patient through the whole process; I never called NVC, and I've yet to call DOS... but I think the excitement is getting to me. I'm actually planning on calling DOS on Monday in hopes that they'll give me an interview date. While I'm excited about that, I'm worried that it's going to be in May, and if that's the case, my GPA is going to plummet because I'll have to drop out of this semester. In my eyes, not going to his interview just isn't an option to me. Even though I'm worried about this whole school thing, I'm a little happy (and hoping) on the inside, because it means that I'll get to seem him sooner than originally planned. :D Conflicted feelings... EEK! lol :)

Why hello there ! I hope you find out your interview date soon!!

and that officially makes me...NOT LAST!! WOOO!

Nope! Not last! Having a later interview date is actually working out in our favor. The way I see it? As long as they don't schedule it before May 16th, it's all good!!! Last I heard, they were done with April scheduling, so it's definitely working out. We're hoping to have it between the end of May and the end of August, simply because I will be in Canada during that time, but if they don't schedule it until after August, then I will just do online courses for the fall semester so that I can be there with him. I can't see why it wouldn't be during the time we want it to be though. :)

Kayla - I switched from Blackberry to iPhone when I got back from Canada last year, and I will never go back! I can't live without mine! LOL. I can't wait for you to be approved! Definitely will be having drinks all around! :D

Decided to pop in here, since I haven't in awhile. We finally got P3 sent back into Montreal on the 23rd after having it for a month. That's more to do with his procrastination than anything, really -- not to mention, we're trying to plan it just right so that I'm up there for vacation when they schedule his interview. (We're praying for End of May - middle of August interview date. Anything within that time frame! lol...)

I'm getting very anxious. I mean, it's still like 8 months until our (hopefully) wedding date, but I want to see him now. I'm so happy that everyone's getting interview approvals, though! I'm stuck trying to decide who I'm going to ask to be our co-sponsor, because I certainly don't make enough right now (full time student - woohoo!) I can't wait until May.

So you will have to wait until the middle of February just to hear a possible interview date? Ohhh, I think that is so unfair.

I know this was a few pages ago, but I thought I'd point out that the person who posted that whole Montreal Interview things is going for a different visa type! They do all the scheduling differently, so you never know! You (well Kayla, I mean, haha) might get an earlier date if they decide to work more on K1s!!! :)

Then above where the little circles are, it's listed as "Post Decision Activity," which is past the Testing/Interview stage. Is it possible that they've skipped over that section? Or does everyone's do this?

Interview is done at the consulate stage, which you are now on your way to. From USCIS, they'll send your stuff to NVC, who will forward it on to the Consulate you provided in your application.

Grats on your NOA2. smile.gif

Well, if you mailed yours on the 12th, and they cashed the check yesterday, then they had to have cashed my check, too. (again wishing I hadn't done a cashier's check! GRRRR!)

I'm going bananas!!!!! I want my NOA1!!! I wish I would have been a bit smarter beforehand, and actually gotten a CHECK instead of a cashier's check. sad.gif I just never use checks with my account because they always get me in trouble. Bleh. Guess I get to wait the hard way...

Hopefully it shows up this week. smile.gif

Mailed my application off today! EEK! Haha. I'm so relieved that it's out of my hands.... but now the REAL waiting and stress starts!!!!!!! :S

(I feel like I maybe didn't put enough in... my total application was 46 pages, including the cover page.. :x)

As it gets closer to the 11th, I'm actually getting a bit more excited about sending it off... not to mention how relieved I'll be once it's out of my hands. The last few weeks have been a pain, lol! Hopefully CSC won't take a long time. According to the stats on here, it says that the average for the last 3 months is 225 days from them receiving to interview date. I hope this is true!
