Mine was touched today and is moved to CSC.

Thanks for your post. I re-checked my status and saw I have now been transferred to CSC also. Hopefully something happens soon.

How did you find out that you have been transferred to CSC? I also checked mine online status but it does not say anything about if its moving to CSC (Service Center) or the local office. All it says that is : It has been transferred to the office.

It dosent say anything about being transferred, it just says it is at the California Service Center where it used to say NSC.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFor any NSC'ers recently transferred to CSC
I know alot of those with older applications filed with NSC were recently transferred to CSC. My question is, did anyone else get the impression from the updated case status that we are now at the back of the queue again??

The CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. This all sounds to me like they are treating them as just having been filed.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionguestion on mortgage doc
QUOTE (brad836 @ Apr 8 2008, 09:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Is it necessary to have my wife added to the mortgage on our house as proof of residence for removal of conditions? We have many other proof, bills, affadavits, letters and photos so on. Do we need this also? The reason I ask is that there is a fee involved and great deal of paperwork that is needed done to do this, and if it's not necessary we don't see the point in doing it.

I personally dont think its necessary. Im not listed on our mortgage. When we purchased our house I was still awaiting adjustment of status and therefore they wouldnt do it. I was added to the title on the house though. I dont think this is such a big deal to arrange if you wanted to do this. I beleive it is through a Quit Claim Deed which is registered with your county. You may want to consider this as from what I was told, if something were to happen to my husband the title on our house automatically goes to me.

Someone else might be able to give more info. Its been a while since we did this and I dont remember the specifics of why it was a good idea.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConfusion with I-751s
They did the same thing to me. They put my maiden name on my NOA1 and misspelled my middle name. I called their info line and reported the error. They sent me a letter a couple weeks later to acknowledge my call and what it was for. Unfortunately the letter never indicated they had fixed the error just that the correct info had been passed on to an immigration officer.

This was all over a year ago now. It kinda sucked when I travelled and had to bring my extension letter with incorrect name and a copy of the letter that I had reported the mistake. Although I never had any problems getting back into the US.

My card was just approved today and I hope when I get it in the mail that they fixed the mistake especially since I am travelling in May. Fingers crossed!!!

If I were you I would give them a call to let them know. I did bring this up at my biometrics appointment but I really dont remember them doing anything. I think they just said I should call the info line. I imagine they had the correct info on me in their system at that time and maybe the NOA was just a data entry error???

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWho else has been waiting over a year????
Just wondering how many others are in the same boat as me. I have now been waiting since January 2007 for my 10 yr green card from NSC. I called to inquire on the status of my case about 5 weeks ago, and yesterday I received a letter telling me that my case is "currently awaiting adjudication by an immigration officer" DUHHHHHH fat lot of good that did.

Hoping to travel to Australia in May so I just want my damn greencard.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionName misspelt in NOA
QUOTE (Illinois @ Apr 14 2008, 11:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,
On the original NOA for I-751, there was a typo in my name. When I went for fingerprinting, I pointed this out, and the lady corrected in on their system.

Well, the NOA I just received re the transfer to CSC still carries the error. Does anyone know if this could be corrected over the phone? I will call tomorrow, but would like to hear from anyone who had a similar experience.

I am afraid they will send a card with the misspelt name whenever the petition is approved, and that it will take another 14 months to get that corrected! How they manage to mess this up when I never had any issue with the 2-yr card is unbelievable.

Thanks!

They did the same thing to me. They put my maiden name on my NOA and misspelt my middle name. I called them up to fix the error and got a letter a few weeks later just acknolwedging my call. I also mentioned it at biometrics. My card was just ordered on April 9, and I should get it this week. I HOPE they have the correct name on it. I will let you know.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaQuestions about getting K1 visa in Ciudad Juarez...
Just a note on the affidavit for Juarez...

All they asked me for was proof of employment and last year's tax return. No I-134 or otherwise, and most people have had the same experience.

If you're anticipating using a cosponsor though, I'd get him to fill out an I-134 AND have copies on hand of his tax returns (3 years just in case) and proof of employment. But Juarez generally doesn't put a lot of stock in the financial stuff, save it for the AOS.

Also, you need to start thinking and planning for a trip to Juarez... it sounds like rules have changed that the fiances aren't always allowed in, but if your honey runs into trouble and she needs you, you really need to be there to explain things to a CO. Once you get closer to that time, sign on again and you'll find a lot of info on this website regarding hotels, juarez tips, etc. I just want you to start considering that as a real necessity.

Take care, and check out the Mexico threads on here, there's a few of them and they're good.

Buen suerte,

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPOE by bus/car Mexico/US border
Here's a POE story...

Luis crossed at the McAllen/Reynosa bridge and had a heck of a time.

They had NO IDEA what a K-1 was, and instead of looking it up, they just told him no right off the bat, that I had to be there with him for it to be valid. He called me panicked, he had a flight to catch in an hour. So I called the POE and gave them hell and they processed him quickly and he came back over. Just be prepared for people to be super negative if you hand them a visa they've never seen before. Know how it works, know your rights, and fight, and you should be fine.

Take care

Good review, M., si man. Wish that your numerical rating had been lower, but that's your choice, si man. Stay in touch, si man!

Hey TBone!

Honestly, I would rate them 0 stars based on my infuriating phone and email interactions with them! But since our interview happened to go well for us, I couldn't in all fairness completely burn them. I just hope that future interviewees read my, your, and others' reviews thoroughly so they can see that this Consulate operates in a prejudiced, unsystematic way (like most Ecuadorian institutions...).

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaGuayquil, Ecuador Consulate review
Hi Ecuamericans!

As usual I am having trouble navigating the forums and posting to the Ecuador portal, but I just wanted to say that I've just posted our review of our Guayaquil interview. I know it's incredibly late, but due to a year of family illnesses and other problems, things have just been too crazy until now to post it. So please forgive the tardiness but take a look if you're interested.

Thanks to all those who've helped us along the way, and good luck to everyone!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAPPROVED WITHOUT 134
Hey all,

Our K-1 visa was just approved on Tuesday! Yay! And yet...at the interview in Guayaquil, Ecuador, we were never even asked to show our Affidavit of Support/ 134 forms or supporting evidence, much less hand them over. So I'm beginning to have doubts...It seems like the consulate may have made a serious boo-boo (not at all surprising considering other VJ members' experiences with this consulate), since I was under the impression that evidence of financial support is of utmost importance to the interview/approval process. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'll be posting a full review of the consulate and details of our interview in the next days. Meanwhile, any thoughts on this situation? I'm a little nervous that they'll realize their mistake and "un-approve" us....AHHH!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsquestions and guayaquil consulate´s answers--any interpretations?
Thanks for your wise words, TBone. I guess I'm just still a little confused about their answers on 2 points (perhaps I exaggerated *a bit* in my original post with the word "unintelligible"--most of it was merely confusing rather than completely unintelligible):

1) Do the 134 and employment letter REALLY have to be notarized (as their answer to question 2 affirms)? I thought that was only for the old version of the 134...

2) Do I REALLY have to translate Spanish documents (e.g., my fiance's birth certificate and police record) into English (as their answer to question 3 states)? The FAQs page of their website says that documents in Spanish are acceptable: "Do I need to bring translations of my documents on my appointment date? --Any document in Spanish does not need to be translated. If you have documents in other languages, you must present translations that have been notarized in the U.S. Consulate." And from what I can remember reading here on VJ, no one else has translated their Spanish documents...Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm planning to call the Consulate within the next week and see if I can talk to someone who can clarify these contradictions. I'm not banking on clear or definite answers, though...I suppose that ultimately I'm just going to bring more rather than less, both originals and copies of everything. But I'm really hoping I don't have to notarize and translate anything!!

Any further ideas on this would be more than welcome. Thanks everyone smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsquestions and guayaquil consulate´s answers--any interpretations?
Hello everyone,

I have some interview-related questions that I´d like to put to you all for your experience- or knowledge-based answers. I emailed the following to the Guayaquil Consulate and they replied quickly enough, but their answers are either unintelligible (to me) or conflict with what i´ve seen here on VJ. Any interpretations would be much appreciated.

MY EMAIL to the consulate:

Hello,

I have searched your website but have not been able to find answers to the following questions. I´m hoping someone can help me by providing me with some concrete information. I have been unable to get a coherent English response when calling the Visa Information phone number.

1) My case number (---) is listed on the website´s Packet 4 link under March 29, but we have not yet received packet 4. Does the .pdf Packet 4 information on the website suffice?

2) According to the .pdf Packet 4 information on the website, my Ecuadorian fiance must bring ¨tax reports¨ W2s, and 1040s to the interview as evidence for the I-134. However, I, the petitioner, did not file for 2008 or 2007 due to low income. Can I bring a letter explaining this? Also, for how many years is tax information required? Can I /Should I bring tax transcripts for the year 2006?

3) The website says that documents in Spanish do not need to be translated, but that documents in other languages do. Does this include documents in English such as my tax information, bank letters, etc.

4) Do documents need to be originals, or do black and white photocopies suffice?

5) According to only the English version of the instructions for the .pdf Packet 4 information on the website, my Ecuadorian fiance must bring bank letters. Do these need to be on bank letterhead? If my bank cannot give me a letter, can I instead bring online bank statements?

6) I, the petitioner, am currently living and working in Quito. Should my employment letter be in Spanish or English? Should it be on company letterhead? Also, should I bring my ¨comprobantes de retencion¨/ pay stubs containing tax information.

7) I will have a cosponsor (my father) for the I'134 Affidavit of Support. Can his supporting evidence be copies, or must they be originals?

Thank you in advance for your help in answering my questions.

THEIR RESPONSE:
Thank you for your message. We will answer your question as follow:

1) If you have not received the packet 4 just go after the instructions in the webpage

2) You have to sign and notarize the affidavit of support I-134 and a job letter

3) The documents that should be translated only Spanish to English

4) We need originals

5) Bank letter from the petitioner not beneficiary and bank statements are acceptable

6) Should be in English with the company name letterhead

7) I-134 must be original , the tax returns could be copies

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestranslation of passport stamps and work visa?
Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have just spent the last hour-plus searching for an answer to my question, but probably because of my unfamiliarity with the forum, haven't been able to find it. So I apologize if this question has already been answered.

Here's the question: when I, the petitioner, submit primary evidence for the I-129F, do I need to translate the stamps on my (American) passport that show entrances to and exits from Ecuador in Spanish? Also, do I need to translate my Ecuadorian work visa (stamped onto a page of my passport and written in Spanish), which constitutes evidence that I have been living and working in my SO's country?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks a bunch, TBoneTX. You've got me scared about the Guayaquil Consulate, but I think it's better I'm scared and know the truth than calm and ignorant...and now I feel more decisive about what to put on my form. No timeline yet because I haven't sent in my 129F package yet. Will create a timeline as soon as I do that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresliving and working abroad: work visa
I haven't been able to find any posts on a situation similar enough to my own, so here goes...

My question is:

I, the petitioner, am currently living with my fiance in his native Ecuador. I have a work visa here that is valid until 2009. The work visa states that I work in a certain Academy which I left several months ago. If I put this information on my G-325 form, will the US government call up the Ecuadorian government and tell them that I am no longer working at the Academy listed on my Ecuadorian work visa? And will the Ecuadorian government subsequently deport me from Ecuador?

If I lie on my G-325 form and say that I am still working at the Academy listed on my work visa, will the US gov't find out? How closely do they check job histories?

Any answers or guesses would be appreciated, from people in Ecuador especially...Anyway, quite possibly I am just obsessing as usual! THanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 worries that turned out to be nothing
Hi all,

I haven't seen anything like this on the forum yet, but I could very well be missing something; in that case, I apologize and hope that someone can direct me to the/a relevant thread.

Here's the question: what things (big or small) did you worry/stress about during the K-1 process that in the end weren't a big deal, or weren't a problem at all?

This might sound trivial, but given that so many threads deal with the opposite (i.e., things you didn't consider and turned out to be problems/ RFEs), I think it could provide some comfort to those of us who tend to worry into the late hours of the night about even the tiniest details of our forms, evidence, etc.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts and/or direction to related threads!
