K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPre-departure Checklist
Oh yes. This trip is a full family event. I'm staying with her parents and just a few days in Cebu to attend her college graduation. This trip is for personal bonding with almost no Site seeing. I'm formally asking her parents for her hand in marriage and all my time will be dedicated to building my new family relations.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPre-departure Checklist

Ok so if that's the case, YOU don't need to take anything there; you will, however, bring back all the things you'll need from her.

Read the guide I linked you to, and follow the check list.

Disregard anything that would need to come from you, and concentrate on the things you will need from her: the passport pictures, the form, the letter of intent.

Most importantly, while you are there, document the visit with tons of pictures of the two of you and with her family. Save all boarding passes!!!!! and everything else with a date on it, that can establish that you've been a X place at X date with her.Posted Image

According to your Timeline, you haven't filed the petition just yet; so to clarify. Is this correct? or Will this visit be prior to her interview?

Have you read the guides? http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

Yes, I have not filed anything yet as I will be traveling to see her for the first time on Oct. 8th
My goal is to take anything I can, or get anything from her that we will need to have prior to filing.
Yes, I have read it and keep reading it over and over because I'm so nervous about going through this on my own.

get passport pictures from her is a big one... i had to wait to get them from my fiancé after i left him...

i took the most recent phone records, skype records, emails, gtalk , chat records to my fiancé up to the time we met for him to keep for his interview. that just cut down on the amount of paperwork i had to send him and stuff.

you will need a paper saying you plan to marry within 90 days of her coming her, i would type that out and have her sign that before you leave and bring it with you.

our paper said:

I ____________ plan to marry _________________ within 90 days of him reaching the US. We are both free and willing to marry each other

my name
address
phone number
and email address

also she will need to sign the forms you have to send into the USCIS, print the forms out and make sure she fills them out and signs them before you leave.

make sure you take a load of pictures and that they are dated (together pictures).

save your plane tickets, the baggage claim tickets, bus tickets, hotel receipts, food recipes, if you have ring keep that receipts too....

http://travel.state....types_1315.html

I have saved all our conversations and western union receipts and send them to her via email. So she has all of those. I assume I need to get copies of work income and take her a copy also?
Will she need a copy of my birth certificate?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129f Couple of questions
Quickly, I'll say I just got back from the Philippines and it was wonderful. My time spent with my love was perfect and was just a continuation of our love for each other. Not a single awkward moment occurred and meeting her family and experiencing there love touched my heart in ways I never could have believed. I'm "whipped" and am so in love with her, as I've always known I was. So, I-129f, question 18, if my statement fits, I don't need an additional declaration, correct? This is what I was able to fit in the box:

"We met online through a social website called Tagged.com on 06/15/11. After a year of building an ongoing relationship, I Michael Lee Miller traveled to Cebu, Ocaña and Sibonga to visit Maria Teresa Rematado. I arrived in the Philippines on October 10, 2012 and departed October 19, 2012. During our time together, in the Philippines, I proposed marriage and she accepted."

Also, on the PDF of I-129F, her first name will not fit in the box. I assume leave that blank and print it, and then hand write her first name. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

The bank statements and letter of intent do not need to be notarized. Both letters of intent need to be signed and dated, one by the petitioner and one by the beneficiary.

When I visited my fiance, we completed the letters there. I just typed the date at top and she signed below her printed name at the bottom. Will this be ok? Should I highlight the date?

I'm about to send mine in as well. Per the link, I just used a simple stapler to put together small things such as; western union email notifications of sent/ received. Then I used large paper clips for more bulky sections like all my boarding passes and copies of all pages of my passport. I'm then using a large binder clip for all the papers and will buy an envelope for the packet and then use a FedEx packet where I'll put in my packet.

OK, so my application hit today. They received it Oct. 30th. Thanks for all the responses, I certainly appreciate them.
On the web site it says this "On November 6, 2012, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance." Hmm, I called and they are not able to print another copy of it. I did save the email, but I will not have the actual form to send to her. Shucks..

In reading, it doesn't appear that the NOA1 is something that needs to be sent to my fiance...Just the NOA2 when/ if I'm approved.
mmiller2001MalePhilippines2012-12-05 09:17:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I Be Worried

The real problem is that you didn't get your NOA1 in the mail. You will need a copy of this paper at the embassy for the interview I think(or maybe you can just print the NOA1 you get by e-mail... I don't know. But you should make sure to get the answer about this when you talk to a rep again.)

I wouldn't worry too much about the website thing... If you read some of the posts in the forum you'll find out that a lot of people never got their case status updated online, or they did but way after recieving papers by mail... So the fact that it is not updated doesn't necesarily means anything.

They have your file, you have a reciept number, they are going to call you back so it means they are checking everything is alright. I don't think you should worry. Relax and wait for their call.

You can check your status online at USCIS website every now and then. Just put your receipt number and you'll see which stage you're on. :)

Best of luck and God bless.

That's the original problem. 30 days from receiving my electronic NOA(1), it still shows as case not found on the web site.
mmiller2001MalePhilippines2012-12-05 05:59:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I Be Worried

Those are good signs, USCIS acknowledges that they have your petition (you have a receipt number), and you know that they have your money. It sounds like you just have to hang tough until the rep calls you back within 48 hours. If they don't call back in that allotted time, call the USCIS hotline, ask for a Tier 2 rep and get the explanation of the issue.

Hang in there.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Okay, thank you...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I Be Worried

Hard to say if you should be worried…. Do you have a receipt number? A receipt number is generally included on the electronic NOA1 and also the official Form I-797c Receipt.

Get back with more details as they become available.

Yes, a receipt number was generated and my check was cashed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I Be Worried
I submitted my I-129f 37 days ago and roughly received my electronic NOA1 a week later. However, I never received my paper receipt and my case never showed up on the website. So today I called and was given to a tier 2 representative. She said the application is on file and in process, but that a representative would call me back in 24 to 48 hours to explain the problem. I asked, "was their a problem with the application" and she said no, but a rep. would call me to explain why its not in the system. Should I be worried about my application. FYI, it was sent to the Vermont processing center.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI Just Confused Myself

It's unclear from your posts whether you are the petitioner or the beneficiary. No matter. For Manila-bound petitions, here's what to do when the I-129F petition is approved:

1. A couple of weeks after the petitioner receives USCIS approval of the I-129F petition, the petitioner should start calling the National Visa Center (NVC) every day until the petitioner gets their MNL case number.

2. When the petitioner and the beneficiary have their MNL case number, the beneficiary can pay the visa application fee at BPI.

3. Four to 24 hours after paying the visa application fee at BPI, either the petitioner or the beneficiary can schedule an Embassy interview appointment. The interview appointment can be scheduled either online or by phone.

4. Don't wait for the Embassy to send the beneficiary a letter telling them that they are eligible to schedule an interview and giving them interview preparation instructions. The wait for this letter will set you back a month or more. Some beneficiaries never receive the letter. Instead, just get the MNL case number from the NVC, pay the visa application fee, and schedule an interview.

5. Once the interview is scheduled, the beneficiary can complete the medical at St. Lukes.

The petitioner and the beneficiary can prepare for the interview by reading the Embassy letter. Here's the link.

Okay, I see my mistake. I was thinking NVC was more of a "timeframe”, the moments after NOA2 and all that has to be accomplished prior to the embassy interview. Yes, I'm the petitioner and thank you! Your link is exactly what I was looking for. Is it a sticky somewhere? It should be if it's not.

Thank you both very much.

Sorry but there is NO NVC process at all for K-1. They assign a case number and forward it directly to the interviewing embassy/consul. NO forms NO information no nothing is sent to the NVC.

The information for Philippines specific forms and paperwork is found in the Philippines forums of this website.

Oh, hmm, well...um shucks...I thought the packet sent from the embassy, to her, was "NVC". And thank you for the information. I'm off to the Philippines....section!

I haven't received my NOA2 yet, but I feel it's time to prep. So I'm reading a guide about NVC and woops, I think I was reading one I wasn't supposed to read. K1 NVC process is pretty much handled by my foreign fiance, correct? I know I read a K1 specific NVC guide but the search bar hates me. I can't find it. The K1 flow chart links to a page of forms I can download but which ones are NVC specific? I want her to practice filling them out. Grrrrr, I have 50 bizillion bookmarks but failed to bookmark that guide.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the state you live in. In Phil it's just the licensure exam. Some states require to be licensed from your home country. Others don't and depending on the state it can be one or the other.

Sorry to burst the happy bubble but NOA2 hardcopy is needed for Adjustment of Status.

If USCIS records show that a notice of approval ( NOA2) was sent to your address, you must file a Form I-824 (Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition) with the filing fee in order to obtain a duplicate approval notice ( NOA2 ).

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Filling fee: $405

But mmiller2001 you probably qwill get your  original NOA2 soon yes.gif

Ok, so worst case scenario $405.00 at time of AOS! Thank you Agnesb.

I changed my address and received the notification on May 3rd. I was approved on May 7th. So I checked online and saw my old address. I know the online updates are slow so I thought, simply, what would happen if I never received it. I know the embassy requires a copy of it if not the original. Hence my question from the beginning. Why waste everyone's time with the details. Yes, using the journey was an analogy of the entire process. We are just waiting for her to complete them not for the results.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2

Have you been in a coma for the past six and-a-half months?  The USCIS doesn't hurry anything.  Your approval was only ten days ago!  If you don't get a hard copy in the next week or two, call them or email them.

Right now, you should be focusing like a laser beam on something else: you should be calling the NVC every day in order to get your MNL case number.  Once you have your MNL case number, you can pay the visa fee at BPI and schedule an Embassy interview appointment. What are you waiting for?

Also, read this:  http://photos.state....on_rtf2_005.pdf

Let's not be so harsh! 1 She's in review for her Nursing License exams. She is taking those on June 2 and 3. Her dream is to pass her exams and passing them also makes her eligible for those states that require the license. Colorado doesn't require them but I'm an airline employee and we will certainly move in the future. So, her passing is priority, period. If we take longer then those who want to be a "laser beam", then so be it. 2 I know the time lines, I know just about everything I need to know. 3 If you had no intention of answering the question, then why did you reply? Read the question. Did I ask for any of the information you wrote?

They will not reproduce the NOA2 from my knowledge. So, if it's lost, certainly all that I would have is the email notification! Right?
