K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestwo questions
I got my I134 and employer letter almost immediately after the NOA1 and they were OK for the interview - which happened to be about 4 months from initial filing. So, you can take a few weeks and then do it or if others are moving fast through your center, you can do it now - at worst you will know what to do if you need to redo them. Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWell here it goes!
Good luck and don't worry too much - from reading everyone's experiences here - it seems that less than 1% have 'real' problems and most of us - 90% have a hard time with waiting - so buy a bunch of Molsons and invite us over for the long wait!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCould I get an RFE?
I submitted her (and mine) pictures from a photographer in Colombia - it was a few months later when I read about people worrying about the size of the pictures and I pulled the copies I had (yes I had extra copies) and they were 1.75" by 1.75" - But we had no problems! For the AOS I just got them done at the local Walgreens and again had no problems! I think people stress too much - most photos should be OK. Good Luck

What - didn't you read the guides and posts here? Many people including I; had my I134 and employer letter and tax returns ready after the NOA1. And as someone else says - it doesn't take long to do these - it took me a day to ask for everything and get the I134 done and about a week for the employment letter to arrive in the mail. Good Luck

Its not what the I134 says but what the consulate requires - my fiancee's consulate required 3 years tax returns - SO I sent them! Its not that expensive to make copies - about 35 pages times 5 cents $1.75 Good Luck

One of the things to help you is to get a few extra photographs to help you expedite the process - I had extra so if needed, I could have used them - better to spend a couple more dollars for a few more copies - if not needed - you can still keep them! Good luck

If you file for K1 and then try to enter the USA be prepared to be denied entry - it has happened to several people but some others have had no problem. So, you can take a chance - maybe fly on a Saturday and be in the middle of a LONG LONG line at immigration!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about K1
You might be better off taking classes in community colleges (many of them are cheap and or reasonable at worst) - just make sure they are tranferable to the college you eventually want to go to - this can be very efficient. Many US citizens also do this to make their total cost of college a little cheaper. Good Luck

Your petitioner - or more correctly your sponsor guarantees that he/she will take are of you and you will not become a public charge. So your being employed or not is irrelevant but if you have good education and experience that will come in handy to contribute to your new household and should be a plus - as in answering a question like "what are you going to do there?" It may or may not be asked. Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionoops! I forgot to include a copy of the Greencard!
If you insist on mailing it now - then the way to ensure that it gets to the examiner working on your case is to wrap it in several hundred dollar bills laughing.gif Just kidding. Have patience and wait for the RFE, it just delays things by a week or two - its not a big deal.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 pending and now separated with husband
Keep thise in mind - if your 10-year greencard is approved prior to a divorce (many don't have an interview), then you are OK. If the divorce happens before the approval, then you need to refile with your divorce papers. Try and save as much evidence of the marriage as you can. Good Luck on getting out of a bad situation.

Hi i filed I751 on september 13,2007 now 9 months soo sick of checking my status online every day mad.gif . can I send in my citizenship application this september? 3 yrs minus 90days time for apply citizenship is this correct?

I won't worry about this delay. You can keep extending your status (get a stamp) and file for citizenship. I intend to do the same in case we don't hear nothing for 5 more months and even if we do get the 10-year greencard. I think of this 10-year greencard as a $500 fee to be paid for the third year of residency and nothing more. Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWith Conditional GC & divorce decree just finalized
You can file for removal of conditions on your own - you would still have to provide enough proof that the marriage was entered in good faith. Many others have done this, so don't be paranoid. Approach it calmly, gather your evidence and submit it when the time comes (90 days prior to expiry). Your current status is valid - divorce doesn't negate it. Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion2 case numbers
Actually the case numbers on the NOA and biometrics are different - and only the case number on the biometrics notice can be tracked - so everything seems to be 'normal' except for the wrong address. My wife's NOA had a number WAC-072 etc.; and the biometrics had WAC-081 etc. and only the biometrics case # can be tracked and yes, it just says we received your application blah blah blah. Don't worry about it, its all normal; but if you want to, you can try calling them. Good Luck

I'm a little concnerned about having our account numbers floating around out there. Does anyone know if it's ok to submit statements of our bank accounts, credit cards, etc. but with some of the digits blacked out?

They already have all your info like SSN, greencard, passport info etc. etc. But if you are concerned, you can block out the account number info. - many of us actually highlight the account numbers on bank and credit card statements to show the same number being used for both of us. And many of us didn't send any affidavits from friends and family - I felt that was the least valuable or most worthless evidence. Do what makes you comfortable - Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan i travel to canada With NOA and expired Gc?
They were really quick in responding. I had a cup of tea after I sent the email to them and this is what I got

As mentioned on the website http://www.cic.gc.ca...visit/visas.asp
Visas are not required for: "persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence; "
So I would suggest your wife carry all documents with her; expired Green Card (assuming she is still in possession of it), letter from USCIS of extension, and valid passport. If she has a driver's license, it wouldn't hurt to have that as well. All documents to prove her identity, US status, and citizenship.
Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions or concerns.
Regards,
Sara Pawlak

So, I will print this email and carry it along with her grrencard (expired) and the extension letter and her driver's license.
Should be all Ok.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan i travel to canada With NOA and expired Gc?
I have just sent an email to the Canadian consulate in Denver asking them the same thing. We are planning to be in New York and are thinking of driving over to Niagara Falls for a couple days. She has her expired greencard and the extension letter (still waiting for the 10-year card). I will post what I hear from them. (She has her Colombian passport and Colombians require a visa for travel to Canada (but not greencard holders).)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConditional green card and drivers license expiring
That is interesting - I asked my wife's friend when her drivers license expires (she came on a K1, 18 months ago) and she said in 5 years. So, the Colorado DMV gave her a 5 year card even though she had a 2 year greencard. This makes me think that 1) Either they made a mistake or 2) It must vary between state to state. I had also heard that the drivers license expires when the greencard expires in New Jersey for example. Good Luck with DMV

No, she can't do anything to punish him. But he will still need to get conditions removed on his own (not very easy but not too hard to do). She should be thankful that it didn't go on for years, get divorced and move on with her life. Being bitter is only going to eat her insides. Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSworn Affidavits...
Its your comfort level - there is no hard and fast rule that one must submit mortgage or deeds - I never submitted any such thing (the house is paid for and is in my sister and my name for title transfer purposes - as is her house). So I have never submitted deeds/mortgages/rental agreements - nor have I submitted affidavits - My belief is that the most important piece of proof is joint tax filings followed by joint bank and credit card statements, then utility bills and finally health and other insurance, then pictures together etc. Just my belief, and so far, I have not had a problem with my wife's process. So, do what makes you comfortable, follow what seems logical to you. The only thing you must submit is the form and the fees - the rest is what you have and would like to generate as evidence. Good Luck

Hey do the taxes now - Joint taxes are excellent proof of your 'normal resident behavior'. He doesn't have to be in town to do the taxes - you can file online and do you know that you missed the April 15th deadline, if you had done it, by now you would be expecting a $1200 gift from Uncle Sam. Do it now. Good Luck

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoving Conditon,Expeditious Naturalization and Traveling.
To be safe, you should apply for the removal of conditions within the 90 days of your 2 year card's expiration. File for naturalization using the process for it - I am not sure how it works and 'how long it takes'. Hopefully someone who has done it will add their experience. By applying for the removal of conditions - your status remains valid and you can then file for Naturalization even if the removal of conditions hasn't been done - they will do both at the same time (from what I have read in previous posts). Good Luck

I sent about the same - 29 pages plus a book of pictures (It was a 12 page photobook with pictures on both sides and descriptions - they make it for about $20 on the internet) I did submit credit card statements (For Visa and Kohl's) from the beginning; middle and the end of the period (18 months or so) as well as Health, House and Car insurance statements. She should think of 1) Her happiness 2) Her security

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoving conditions + doing something agaisnt the law
Absolutely its a foolish idea. Don't do it. Meet the family later on individually or jointly but do not take that chance. A mall can't be open for family gathering after hours - If I saw a crowd in a mall and the doors are closed, I will call the police too. This is extremely foolish - he thinks he has more authority than he probably does - also he may be fired if he does something like that. DON'T DO IT.

Good list - only thing I did diferently was to send - 3 statements for Banks, credit cards, utility bills - one from 2 years ago, one from a year ago and a recent one - this was to show that we have had all these together (in both names) for the last 2 years - but I assume that one doesn't need to send three and just recent statements should be OK.
