- maybe take immigrant visa processing away from the Department of State, and have Homeland Security do it instead.

Ja Ja Ja - It is already done by Homeland Security - look at who you sent your petition to (and your check).I understand your frustration but you have to be patient - this is like a long wait for a process that in the end will work out in your favor. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresa question on police certificates

I guess my fiance can start on it already(the certificate), the NOA2 was approved, and the packet is on its way to the embassy. Or am I wrong here too?

No - you are right on this. Have him also get his birth certificate, vaccination records etc. and you can start on the sponsorship papers (I134 or I864 depednign on what they require.) Good Luck

I didn't send any tax returns to my fiance but her consulate (Bogota, Colombia) asked her to submit 3 years tax returns - so I ended up paying Fed Ex $65 to get it there quick! Check with others that have gone through the same consulate to know what they want. Good Luck

You can buy a one way ticket if its what you want to do. My fiance came on a one way ticket as it was cheaper than a two-way ticket but others have been able to get two way tickets cheaper and have used them. About your apt. - do you not have friends or relatives you can stay with for a while if the visa gets delayed? Else, I won't chance being homeless! Good Luck

Yes you can use your AP to go whereever you want and as many times you want. My friend used it to visit London twice and India once (where he got married!) He made sure that he got the AP papers back and didn't let the Immigration people keep it. TRAVEL AWAY!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSC Birth Certificate

How do I get a certificate of citizenship? and how much does it cost?

Thanks

You should already have it - when you became a citizen. Ask your parents - and find out your status. If you are a permanent resident then you should have a Greencard - if you are a citizen then either you will have your own naturalization certificate or somehow be endorsed on your parents (not sure how they do that for minor children - on my certificate there is no space for names of children or anything like that.) Good Luck

I am a naturalized citizen also and No - there's no birth certificate #. If you are filling out an I129f just put N/A and you will need to submit a copy of the ceritificate of naturalization (it has your date of birth on it - or you can submit copies of your passport.) Good Luck

In my opinion you are OK based on his income - expenses are not taken into account - otherwise 90% of us will never qualify! I for one did not submit any bank statements or asset statements because I was qualifying based on my income alone and did not have any problems getting K1 or at the AOS interview. And yes having a dependednt one year and not having them listed next year is quite common (many children do this - they claim a parent (or both) one year and then the other sibling claims them the next year and so on while they contribute equally to their support each year.) I have read that they DON'T LIKE CDs. I would suggest taking just a few emails and chat records (my fiance took 5 each - no more). Overkilling with evidence is not necessarily good. Do what makes you comfortable but remember several hundred applicants are interviewed every day and the average time spent on an interview is bwetween 10 minutes to 30 minutes (my fiance's was 5 minutes) - who has time to dig into each and every piece of email and chats - be kind to the interviewer! And then include statements from his friends and family to the point that you were there on such and such dates and were with him etc. - If you have pictures with his family that will help in proving the statements - maybe they can also be notarized - does Mexico does notarization easily like here? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI have a question on applying for a Fioncee Visa
meauxna is absolutely correct. There is lot of incorrect information being given. A sibling visa can take several years (when I checked for my brother or sister in India - it was 16 years wait time!) But you can always file another visa e.g. K1 and get that in 4 to 6 months - just declare that you have been petitioned for a visa before - it will have no bearing on your K1. Smile and Good Luck

The U.S citizen petitioner on the other hand would put their SSN no.

Hope that clears it for you.

No that's incorrect! Th USC doesn't have an A# (he may have had one if he was a permanent resident prior to becoming a citizen - in that case the A# is superceded by the US citizenship and is moot now.) So! You should actuall leave it blank. At the bottom you should put K1 Visa and check the 'other' box. Good Luck

I don't think it matters - you are living in places a or b or c but your mail keeps going to your sister's (or relative's) house should be perfectly OK. You don't need to show your rental payments etc. to provide proof of relationship (its just one more pieve of evidence) If they ask you at the time of interview you can explain this. I believe you are fine - now pass me another MGD. Good Luck

Wedding plans are Ok but almost worthless. I don't recommend them! The best alternative is - wait for the visa, come her, have a quick (court) wedding and apply for AOS. They you can plan a big wedding with all the trimmings either here in US or the 'other' country - planning it at your pace and allowing everyone to participate. Good Luck

Yes you must be a citizen before you can file for them. However coming here and retiring here is no picnic. My parents tried for a few months and gave up because - They had no life of their own other than with their own children and their friends and acquaintances. Medical Insurance was a big Issue and not being mobile - driving was a big issue; Food was a very big issue especially eating out. They didn't like the lifestyle here and couldn't wait to go back! Make sure they visit for a few months before making their big move (I have heard a few more stories like that from friends whose parents don't like living in USA (but love to visit their kids and grandkids and love to shop here!)

You petition is already approved so no need to redo the same stuff for proof of relationship (however do send her a copy of the whole package just in case they ask for it.) My fiancee only printed about 5 emails and 5 chat records for proof of relationship - so don't overkill them with proof of evidence. Do send what makes you comfortable and check with others going through Vietnam - do what they did. Good Luck

Thanks for the laughs!!

Diana

He is misinformed. Many states use a device called 'The Denver Boot' that immobilizes your car (after a certain amount of fines -parking tickets etc. that have not been paid.) You can get your car back only after you pay your fines plus a pretty penny (or a dirty hudred dollar bill)! Causes very big headaches for a few days till you get your car back. He shouldn't be so nonchalant about laws - look where Al Capone ended up - just for not paying taxes on his (illegal) income! Good Luck

Probably nothing will happen but depending on the amount - especially if they run into hundreds of dollars - the hospital administration can attach his state tax refund in some states (Colorado is one.) Yes parking tickets, court ordered payments, child-support, student loans etc. can all come back and get your refund! And as someone said - why not just pay them? Good Luck

My notary (from the bank) stamps the name of the bank (doesn't include city or state! Even though they have several branches.) And her seal doesn't disclose the city either. Interesting!
