K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 form - Question 11 - Two ways to complete?

I-134 Question 11

Option 2: N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence)
... ...
Also, is it true the form must be double sided? I would say it doesn't matter, just photocopy it that way at the end, but since it has to be notarized....

I used option 2 when I filled it out as it seems most appropriate meaning basically that all supprot will be provided if needed.

I asked someone and they suggested I do not do the onesided copies - as they might think it was not an original form - so I just printed one side and then printed on the back of it. Its not that hard to manage.

Good Luck

What about the Vaccination Supplement? You should also bring a copy to the USA with you - you will need it for the AOS (green card) process. Good luck

If you qualify based on your income alone - as most of us do - you can leave everyhing except the income info blank! I did it this way for the K1 and for AOS. Good Luck

Many people have gone through the entire K1 process with more than one girl (not at the same time.) So! just doing another I129f is not a big deal - you just need to disclose it where asked for (previous visa/sponsorship questions.) Good Luck

I think you will not get an RFE - most people are paranoid and thik that Immigration does too much work with each and every application; however, you should give them a corrected form when you have the interview (or if you get an RFE.) Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134, Affidavit of Support
A lot of misinformation here. You do not need anything other than the employment letter if you are qualifying based on your income alone! To compute your support - you need to meet 125% of poverty guidelines http://aspe.os.dhhs....06poverty.shtml. If you meet it do not submit any other info on banks. stocks and bonds etc. - you only need to do it if you are trying to qualify based on your assets (do not have enough income but are rich.) Many consulates ask for tax returns - so the packet 3 that your fiance/e receives will spell that out. (Though it is true that each consulate determines what income level is appropriate - the 125% of poverty guidelines is what you have to meet for AOS (Green card) later on and is a good measure to check yourself against now to determine if you need to get a co-sponsor. Good Luck

Some countries like in Colombia, you get the police certificate from a central agency (DAS) and don't have to ask individual citiy police depts. You or your fiancee should find out how the Chinese system works. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCertified Mail
I have always sent my papers certified with acknowledgment due - this way I get a card in the mail when its delivered and its signed (or stamped.) I have never checked the status online but I have never had a problem - the mail gets delivered within a day or two and the acknowledgment comes through within a week. I guess I am not as worried as others and have not checked the online statuses. But I give the certified mail with acknowledgment 'Two thumbs Up" and I use it for all important papers/checks etc. that I send by mail - not limited to immigration stuff. Good Luck

On page 4 of I864 it lets you list your assets to meet the 125% if you do not meet them based on income alone. If its cash or cash equivalent (e.g. cds, stocks, bonds etc.) that would be easy - if its real estate then you will have to submit paperwork supporting the equity you claim you have. Good Luck

Just submit the Federal return (And you can leave out schedules that do not do much but keep these two if you have them - Schedule A and Schedule C.) State tax returns are not required at any point. Also, submitting the W2s is a good idea though not required if you did not file jointly (say with an ex spouse.) I never used the transcripts - just sent them my printouts from Turbo tax (unsigned copies.) Good Luck

She should know what process to use to receive mail - you didn't post any details as to her country of residence (and city etc.) - do so and someone can tell you how. You do not have to have anything translated for the K1 as long as the documents are in English or in the language of the country - again you have not completed your timeline and signature to indicate which country your fiance is from. Do so and you will get very good specific help from people that have gone through the same thing from the same country and maybe the same city also. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCarzzzzyyyyy About Someone.
Learn to read and understand the process. No one asks for your original naturalization certificate - only copies. You can ask them to return it by supplying a copy or you have to get another original of your naturalization certificate. And by the way - which form asks for the original naturalization certificate? If you sent it with your I129f - you misread something. If you sent it with your I134 - you misread something. If you sent it with your I864 - good - there they ask for it but not for the original. But you are not there yet - that's the AOS stage; why did you send it already? Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhone
All you need to do is show the proof of having met and at the interview stage to show that you have a relationship. We did it by just printing 5 or 6 emails and 4 or 5 chats; nothing else. In my opinion phone records just show that you talked - they don't show WHAT you talked about! Your emails or letters or chat records are a BETTER PROOF in my opinion. Good Luck

It doesn't matter what address you use as long as you use USCIS or US Consulate or Immigration or Homeland as the first line. Don't worry about it too much since it is part of the packet that will be going from one office to another as the process moves forward. (Or use the same address where the packet is going to.) Just your word is not going to cut it.. and a simple letter from you and her. You should get her friends and family members write a letter stating they know about your engagement and they met you and talked with you... This would be proof of a relationship and intent to marry.

This is nonsense. No proof of engagement is required - just proof of meeting. If you are 'officially' engaged - good; if not - its still fine. My wife went throguh this (then she ws my fiance) she had no rings or proofs and none was asked for. Good Luck

I had a question regarding this too. I'm a naturalized citizen (have lived in the States practically my whole life). I have to send my naturalization certificate (or my passport)....the original of either of these 2 depending on which I decide to use to prove my citizenship? I just don't feel comfortable sending either one in the mail..what if they get lost?? Is a notarized copy enough?
PS This is my first post! I love this site...

Nope! Don't do it at any point. I always sent copies (they ask you to send copies of the front and back (yes its blank on the back but send it anyway!) I did take the original with us to the AOS interview NOT K1 Interview. But it was never asked for. Good Luck

Perfect. You are doing it well! And yes sometimes they don't have the data to verify in their system (Its called the 'SAVE' system I think.) Once you have the SSN - its his forever. All you will need to do - way down the line - is to remove restrictions after you get the Green card. Good Luck

If your fiance received the packet 3 then it should include with it what they require for the support. My fiance (now wife) found out that she needed 3 years tax returns (I had sent only one year's.) That's what the Colombian consulate wanted, so it is upto the consulate what they require. But at the worst, if you send out 3 years and they only require one - at least she can just not send/give them the other 2 years. In my case I had to Fed ex overnight and dish out another $55. good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThey kept my fiancees packet!!!

Hi Folks,
When my fiancee (wife now! (L) ) came through immigration in Miami, they kept all of our papers (everything in the sealed envelope) , and only returned her passport. These were all our originals that we had taken to the embassy for the interview, etc. We had been told they would return them after immigration, but they just gave her the passport, she asked about the papers and they said "no".
So now I'm kind of freakin' out. Tax statements, all kinds of stuff that is hard or impossible to replace.

Has this happened to anybody? Any idea how to get them back? :help:

Thanks in advance for any advice. Oh, and I don't really need any lectures on the benefit of certified copies, etc. The damage is done now, so if anybody else can learn from my problem, great, but I already learned my lesson...

Thanks again,
Neal y Eliana

Hey buddy: You need to read all the guidelines and understand and gather as much info as you can. IMMIGRATION KEEPING ALL THE DOCUMENTS! THIS IS NORMAL. If you didn't know, you are yourselves to blame. You take the originals to the interview and produce them if asked (the smart ones also take copies and let them keep the copy of the Original.) This is true for your next stages also - You will be doing the AOS and then the permanent Green card and then (perhaps) the citizenship. So! You can still learn. And, you can get most of the documents replaced by going back to the source that issued them and paying for them. Tax Info is very easy to replace. Don't know what else you need to replace, but you are exagerating by calling it impossible to replace - even your birth certificate and passport can be replaced. Good luck in the next stages.
