K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of continuing relationship
For the petition you do not need to send anything about the relationship - just proof of meeting in the past 2 years. for the interview you can take a few letters/emails/chat records - my fiancee took only 5 emails and 5 chat records with her to the interview in Bogota and they looked at one email for all of 5 seconds and nothing else! Bogota is very good about giving out visas - so if she is going through Bogota it should be hassle free. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestranslation and notarised papers

You will need to get them translated for the AOS process but not for the interview, as long as they are in English or the language native to the country.

That's Incorrect. I recently did my wife's AOS and you do not need any police certificates (so the translation is way out of the question.) You will need the birth certificate in English or a translation but kj is wrong about the police certificate. Good Luck

You can do a practice I134 and gather your tax returns (some conculates ask for last 3 years.) Also be aware that you will need a statement from your employer. Some people send a statement from their bank also - I didn't do anything other than the income letter. Good Luck - Ah yes - read the guides

Most ports - they don't care - I have seen all kind of non-citizens/tourists in my line - Los angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Newark, Chicago - just to name a few. Go through together with whichever window you choose. I have never seen them send someone away to another window!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to send the K-1 packet
You don't have to send in a book (please don't kill another tree :crying: ) I only sent in 16 pages and used ONEpaperclip. You do not have to send in emails and chat records now - save them for the interview - just send the proof of meeting in the last 2 years - passport pages, airline tickets, boarding passes etc.. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion
My fiancee spoke very little English and I spoke even less Spanish when we met - And she did her interview in Bogota in Spanish - she called me 10 minutes later and said; "It was very easy!" So! At least in Bogota they didn't care how well we communicate (her written communications were better than her spoken communication.) Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQUESTIONS TO PREPARE PAKAGE3

thank you very much adele! so i guess it doesnt really matter which forms i use to fill out.. if the ones sent by embassy or the ones i can download online.. so i can start in advance to fill them all out.

Many people have done this - used forms from websites to shorten the time required for packet 3 to arrive etc. - So, this is perfectly OK to do. Some of them just send the required forms to the consulate as soon as they know their case # and thereby cut 3 or 4 weeks from the process. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134A quick need it tmr...
I disagree with Karen. Since you are counting on your co-sponsor's income to meet the guidelines (you do know about the 125% of poverty level?) you do not have to show any income of your own - so no need to do bank statements, property evaluations or stock statements - not worth anything anyway since you do not intend to rely on that. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmexican-permanet resident questions
I agree with Boiler - I am from India and for an LPR to bring his wife from there is 7 years or so (someone told me recently); so best to file for citizenship and then either do the K1 or K3. (This would only take 4 to 6 months after you are a citizen as compared to 5 + years as a LPR.) Interestingly India now allows dual citizenship without too much hassle (fee is $250 at present.) Maybe Germany will have something similar by now. Good Luck

Hey Sharma Sahib:
Sharma may be common but probably is not associated with terrorist groups - I assume muslim sounding names may raise flags but not Sharma. Don't worry too much - it all takes time and there isn't much you can do - if you can contact your senator - give it a shot - who knows! I think yours will be approved pretty soon. And if all else fails - forget the Christmas wedding and have a "Monsoon Wedding"and serve Marigold flowers as snacks! Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it an acceptable solution ?
OK this is a little different, And may or may not fit your situation. My nephew entered USA as a student (on a student visa) while his immigration (family based) was still in the works. He joined a school in Florida and when the interview came up he was able to have his interview in Florida itself. (I am saying school but of course mean that he was in college as opposed to middle or high school.)
So, maybe she can come here on a student visa at the beginning of a semester and then await the interview/adjustment etc. Might be worth asking a lawyer. There's a website 'askalawyer.com' I think that deals mostly with immigration issues. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing Dates on the I-767C versus Reality/IMBRA?

Is there anyone who can make a definitive statement about this?
Not asking for opinions.
Larry

Ha ha ha  - If you know the perils of immigration you will know tha there are no black and whites in this process only grays.
No one can tell you the date - all anyone can do is take a guess. Even if a lawyer guarantees you a date he is just lying to get your money in his pocket.
If you are going to go through this proces and remain sane - do not expect cut and dried answers or even more important do not accept them if someone were to give you any. Relax man and Good Luck
Remember this will be over someday.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew and it may be a silly question
Its quite simple. If you have the time and patience to find out the details then you can use this site and others (guides, example forms, postings, pinned info etc. etc.) to do the petition and AOS etc. yourself. Also you will save $1000 to $3000 in the process that a lawyer might charge for not really doing much for you and sometimes delaying your application by not doing the correct thing.
If you don't want to fill out these forms and feel out of place with this mumbo jumbo then you can use a lawyer - a frend of mine is using a lawyer and is very happy with him (and the lawyer is probably also very happy with his $3000+ fees )
Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of last meeting - what is OK to copy?
Ticket stubs, passport pages and boarding passes are good to send (yes copies only.) Another thing to consider is Airline itinerary, hotel bills/receipts; restaurant or shopping bills/receipts showing you were in her/his country (with dates etc.) should also help. If you are short on such proof then maybe also include letters from his/her family saying they know you and met you when you came there on such and such dates etc. Since you have been RFEd I would suggest sending all you can (pile it on.) K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStarting Procedure for Meeting and making it go faster
Just my two dinars - you need to meet her first and decide if she is the one for you before worrying about the visa process! Don't be caught up in the intricacy of the visa process and forget the most important question - do you even want to be with her or not? Some posters here have gone through the nightmare of the visa process only to separate or divorce or abandon each other fairly quickly - the novelty does wear off in 2 or 3 months of being together for some of them.
Having said that - you can alway carry a copy of the G325a and a sample intent letter for her to fill out and sign in case you do think she is the one (this is for K1 only.) Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHarassment during medical exam in Moscow
This reminds me of several posts on PBH Colombia - they have two doctors recommended by the consulate - one is a male and another female. Many posters said the male doctor was harassing the women by making them strip. I asked my fiancee which doctor she is going to because I have read some complaints and she said that she chose the male doctor because her friends who have seen both the doctors consider him to be more thorough and professional. So! Its how the patient feels about disrobing that was the basis of the complaint in that case.
In my own case, when I go for medical - I am made to wear a gown or stay in my underwear and then the doctor probes several areas - unpleasant yes but necessary for a 'physical' exam. (I am a male so don't know exactly what the females go through.) But I consider being naked for brief periods of examination to be completely OK.
Maybe some of the Russian women are worried because they have to be naked for the exam and could be that they do not understand the whole issue of medical examination. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of engagement
You do not need a proof of engagement (yes I know its called a fiance visa .. but no). Many of us never bought a ring or produced a ring or ring receipts for K1. All you need to prove is that you have met in the last 2 years - airline ticlkets, stamps in the passport, itinerary, photos together etc. are good proof. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBig Disappointment...
Though I as others do sympathize with you it is not a hidden agenda - its known to everyone that the Muslim countries (there is a list of 26 or so on a terrorist alert) do take much longer for visas and can be delayed by months in and a few cases - years.
Having said that, I am surprised that you are complaining about money - yet you hired a lawyer! If you go through umpteen thousand posts about lawyers on VJ you will find that the norm is - if you have a straight forward case and have the time to do it on your own then you can do it probably quicker than using a lawyer. However it's your choice so I do wish you good luck. But you also need to have patience and be ready for your fiance not being able to work for a while - which means you will need to provide for him for a while before he can get his EAD. Better hit up your parents now! Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello Everyone...

A USPS MO is as good as cash and that's why it's best to use it instead of personal check.
If a personal check was sent, then two weeks is probably not enough time.

I disagree. I used a check and it was cleared within 7 days of mailing and I received the NOA a couple days after that. I prefer checks to track as I can get pictures of front and back from my bank's website. (The back had the receipt number.) The MO is OK but tracking is harder in my opinion and USCIS doesn't care what you use. Good Luck

On a simple level - You were not considered really married because she was not considered 'properly' divorced and now everything is 'settled'.
