If your name appears on the bank statements then I think you will be okay. If its only her name then you could have problems. Why not ask a relative or friend to be a co-sponsor? Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 questions
You are okay. I too qualified based on my income alone so left all of the asset portion blank. You only need to do that if you are going to use your assettts to make up for your income being less than 125% of poverty line. Good luck

No. Don't get so worried or paranoid about the process. Relax and have another beer

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAddress where you intend to live question...
Put down your current address (or your parents address to assure receipt of mail) - do not put down unknown. Using a permanent address is a good idea so you can be sure of getting all your mail especially from Immigration/Homeland. Good Luck

Your language is not very clear - but if the two kids got their visas in Jan 08 and have been living here in USA then it will take 5 years of residency in the states to be eligible to apply for citizenship. So there's a long way to go. Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBIG TIES (financial situation of the foreign fiancee)
No nothing is required of the foreign fiancee. The US petitioner must have a job or financial means to support the foreign fiancee (and his own and her children if any). The foreign fiancee will need vaccination certificate, police clearance, medical etc. - you will know exactly what when the packet 3 arrives. good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionOur Interview 3/18/08
Quick thought - exactly means exactly - no less and no more - you have sent too much stuff - for example why are you sending twelve months of bank statements - just send the most recent one. My response would be give them what's asked for not what you think 'will help' your case - so why have co-sponsor papers when you don't need it - overkill in my opinion. Have him take back/send exactly what they have asked for - Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIncome Tax Return 1040 (2006)
QUOTE (lorraine @ Mar 21 2008, 07:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello Any one have an idea about income tax return 1040 (2006) My fiance filed his income tax return 1040 electronically ... my question is .. do he need to sign the income tax return ? I really need this for my interview on April 3 ... pls help me thank you..

No signatures are required on the Electronic returns - its electronic - if you start signing it - you will need paper - yes, they have electronic signature - but its just to verify who you are - like a password - they use AGI numbers and also have you assign a random 4 digit number as a verification but nothing on the return itself. I have filed electronically for several years and I just print a copy and thats all I sent for all of the process - 'No Signatures' were ever on the copies - I would suggest that if you are paranoid - you can write - 'no signature - filed electronically'. I didn't do that and had no questions asked during K1, AOS - and so far during removal of conditions. Good Luck

Can I make copies of the tax transcripts?

Yes. I have always used unsigned copies of my tax forms (because I file electronically) and no one has ever questioned them at any point in the process. Copies are perfectly ok. Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about I-134
If you need to back up the value of the real estate you can include a copy of your property tax from the last time (I receive mine in Feb each year). But as others have said - it's not necessary if your income exceeds the 125% over poverty line for your 'new' household size. Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIncome tax return
Some consulates do require three years of tax returns - my fiancee had to take three years of tax returns with her because it was a requirement stated in packet 3 or 4 - I am not sure if they looked at any of the tax returns when the interview was done, so perhaps one can take a chance - but its better to comply with their request just to be safe and avoid a delay. Check at the bottom of the I134 - it should have a notary's signature and seal. You should have the copy of the divorce decree for the interview in case its asked for. Yes - have him scan and email you any documents that you are missing. Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPretty sure he doesn't need a transit visa, but....
Amsterdam is a huge airport and they have a very large area where people wait out for their next flight (we did on our flight to India in Nov). When you check your baggage, ask them to check it through - that means to the final destination - most times they do it automatically for you. The only time there might be an issue is if the two airlines are not connected - then they might ask you to collect the baggage and re-check it in. Call your airlines and ask them - they will clarify the process for you. Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion125% above poverty line?
Did he file his 2007 taxes (due on April 15, 2008)? If yes it should work, because he needs to declare his tips as income - if he chooses not to declare that as income - that's another matter and then you should look for a co-sponsor. By the way its legal and quite common to pay below minimum wages in the Restaurant/Bar industry as they know that tips make up a lot more than enough. Some places e.g. in Vegas they even have the waitresses pay the casinos! Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIntervie Date received
Get what you can and have him scan and email everything to you. You can get everything in a few hours. They might want to see the employer letter in original, but I am not sure. You have enough time for everything except any original documents - if needed (and I don't think you need any originals at this point.) Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of employment
QUOTE (belinda63 @ Mar 24 2008, 06:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Try typing the letter yourself and submitting it for signature. It just needs to include how long you've worked there, your pay, your employment status, and your pay. My boss wrote one paragraph to the effect of she has worked here since January 2006, is employed full time, and makes $2.13 per hour plus tips.
Along with my last years tax return and paystubs this was sufficient to prove my ability to support my SO.'

I find by writing it yourself you make sure all the necessary income is included and it is easier to get a signature than an entire letter.

No, you can't type it on a plain paper - you will need official stationery. So the best thing to do is to tell them what you need it for - seems like you are too paranoid about your sponsoring a foreigner - are you ashamed of your fiancee? Why? Don't worry about your co-workers wanting to know - this is normal in any job and you have to deal with it in a dignified way to make it work for you. How are you going to deal with your neighbors/friends/family who will want to know even more than your co-workers. If you are ashamed of this fact - then you should not go forward with it. Millions of us are not ashamed of it - we are proud of this and are very happy with our decisions. Good Luck

United KingdomHeinz Baked Beans
Okay, apparently, my husband tells me the beans we got at our Safeway (which were Heinz and look just like the ones he would get in England, which he excitedly bought when we saw Safeway selling them) tasted nothing like the ones from England and were too sweet *grin* I stand corrected. Anyway, House of Windsor is another possibility, and my husband did say the have the Proper Beans for sure at the Cost Plus World Market down in our area at least. There is one in Boulder as well you might try:

Okay all you Brits. I am sure this has been discussed at length in the UK forum, but my search turned up discussions 6 pages long and my baked bean craving will not allow me enough time to go through all of them to find my answer. You guys love talking about food.

Being Canadian of British parents I have grown up on Heinz beans, and so today, with my husband away on business, I decided what I needed was beans on toast for dinner (husband detests them). So I go down to Safeway for the express purpose of purchasing a tin for my dinner only to discover they don't HAVE them. That's insanity. Do they not have them at all except specialty shops for lots of extra $$?? Or can they be found at SOME select mainstream shops?? Please don't tell me I might have to order tins of beans online or something.

I wish I had known about this before I had moved!!! We would still be in Canada! ohmy.gif

Where should I look?? I'm in Boulder, CO if that helps:)
THANKS!!!!

Hey bluegreen,

If you are really desperate (or in Denver sometime), they definitely have them at my local Safeway:

SAFEWAY
9160 W. Colfax
Lakewood, CO 80215

They turned up just recently and we were quite excited. They also have Marmite and Weetabix there. Another good place to look is:

http://www.houseofwindsor.net/
They have a local shop here in Lakewood which sells all manner of British food and we go to sometimes.

Best of luck,
