K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPreparing I-129F
I'm 21, I had to spit it out. My mom seemed like she was kinda expecting it and was thrilled.
I had only known him since October of 2005 and I told her in July of 2006.
Spit it out. Keeping it a secret will just add more stress to the pile.
Plus, what I told another younger filer.
You will probably not be meeting the financial requirements to bring him over, which means you will need a co-sponsor. It will be MUCH easier if your parents are willing to support you and help you out on this.
Good luck, PM me if you have any more questions :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFreak!
No action or touches in over 2 months, meh :P
Some get approved with none at all so don't be stressing out about that.
Settle in and wait, it'll get there eventually.
As for the timeline thing, it's fairly inaccurate, so don't worry too much about that one either ;)

Yup, I have the same NOA1 date of August 18th. There's a few 18th and onward dates that have been approved, but not enough to warrant calling yet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngaged, need some help

You should file immediately AFTER you return from your trip to visit I would think. During your time together, you can gather documentation that you met, take photos, fill out the I-129F, etc. If you have it all prepared and signed, then you can drop it in the mail as soon as you return to America. That's what I did anyway.

I guess it depends on how important it is that your or her family attends.
File in february, when you get approved have a civil ceremony in the US and invite all your family and friends for a big "real" wedding when they can make it out.

I'm a little confused about the wedding...
You intend to have a ceremony-only type of thing in her home country.. and then the legal one once in the USA?
Which one needs the deadline?

Edited to say: If you're planning on the official wedding in Vietnam, an I-129F isn't the form you need to be filing.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngaged, need some help
In a word, Probably not.
If you haven't seen him/her within 2 years without extraordinary evidence of hardship, your petition will be denied.
You will have to wait until after February to apply, and then the chances of having NOA2, and your interview done before August are pretty slim.
Why are the dates non-negotiable?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNote about including the Beneficiery's BC or Passport
I didn't include my (beneficiary's) Birth Cert. and didn't recieve an RFE, but like Cass I'd recommend it as well, if nothing else to avoid the stress that may come with worrying about whether or not you *should've* included it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Cert. Q
Sweet thanks!
I thought I was going to have to end up with like 5 original copies
I'll just keep the original safe and sound and feed it to the photocopier every once in awhile.
Thanks so much!

Also thanks for the info on how it's official. When I looked at the Manitoba specimen online I couldn't for the life of me see an embossed seal or anything so I was a little worried.

Alrighty! Time to track down adoption certificate and criminal record check!
-stalks off-

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Cert. Q
Hi all sorry about this. I'm at work and on the phone with various governmental agencies.
Question about birth certificate for beneficiary:

Certificate is to be large, long-form certificate including parents names, correct?

Question 1:
Does this certificate have to be notarized or marked in any way? Vital Statistics will just send me the original copies, but they aren't notarized, just on official paper and whatnot.
Question 2:
If I dont want to pay $25 per copy, can I like.. photocopy it and have the photocopies notarized?
Question 3:
The Hospital's Birth "registry" is a totally different thing?

Sorry again, I'm surprised to find they cost so much/take 4 weeks to process. Trying to find out if there's any way I can cut down on the time/cost.
If not, oh well, but it was worth a try :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresALREADY AT CONSULATE, NEVER GOT NOA1 OR NOA2
William is right though, you need the NOA2 hard copy. I would call and request another one be sent and inform them you never recieved anything.
Good luck, I hope everything is ok

Caps Key. Turn it off.

That's highly unusual.. I would call to double check and verify your mailing address.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOut of Curiosity
Since NVC's automated email checking thing looks at the subject line (I'm assuming) before it responds to tell you whether your case has arrived, I was wondering if it matters how you put the case number in.

Whether it's WACXXXXXXXXXX like the online notification does or
WAC X-XXX-XXX-XXX like it shows on the NOAs.

Or if it even matters at all.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-2 VISA holder wants to return home
Maybe not a private school, but is there any other school in the city you can register him in?
I'm sorry I don't have much advice here, but I hope it all works out fo the best.
Good thing you had the chance to see the situation at the school firsthand before he started classes there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it possible to do a k-1 and k-3 at the same time?
Nope, you have to pick one or the other.
EcalosFemaleCanada2006-11-10 14:58:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska K-1 processing time?????
2 things:

1) the IMBRA Disaster. Every person who filed for a K-1 between the months of March and June recieved an IMBRA RFE. Can you say backlog? Some of the people who filed in March and February are still waiting to be approved because of this.

2) At the same time the brainiacs over at USCIS decided to close both the Texas and Nebraska Service Centers from processing K-1 Visas. All of the petitions from both TSC and NSC were sent to the California Service Center. Backlog x 1,000,000.

Hang in there... my NOA1 was August 16th and even on the off chance I don't get an RFE I'm not expecing NOA2 til January.
EcalosFemaleCanada2006-08-22 12:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska K-1 processing time?????
For Nebraska (CSC) filers from May til present it looks like the overall wait is going to average out to 4 months (from what I can tell by looking at timelines, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long till "Touched"
I was one of those.
Got a touch the day my cheque was cashed, and a touch the day after NOA2 when my petition was presumably sent to NVC.
On the other hand, some people get dozens. They really aren't that important.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent from Fiancee
Sorry this kind of makes me laugh.
It isn't like it's a hard thing to do or takes days and days to gather paperwork for...
It would be worth it even if it was just "suggested".
Also, it's in the instructions for the 129F, and the guides here on VJ.
Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescan u submit the AOS and DS230 the same time?
You can only send them the forms once they've generated them. You'll find out when you call their automated system or if you paid online you should also be able to print them out. But if neither one of these is completed, you should never send them anything ahead of time.
