Ok... feel a bit silly, but just figured out how to change the consulate. Cuba is not listed, so it is blank now. Cuba has no official consulate or embassy due to relations with this country. Sorry for any confusion.

Do you really have your NOA2? NOA2 is your approval so either it is a mistake or you went through Vermont because 5 days for CA is not normal

Hard to believe I know... but I did get both a hard copy from the CSC for a NOA1 and a week later our NOA2. Not sure how or why we have it... and still praying it is no mistake. Would that even be possible? But we did in fact get the hard copy NOA2 that says our I-129F petition has been approved the 28th and is being sent to the NVC. I still have no word from the NVC, but will call again this week to check the status.

K-1 Timelines (updated 03.04.07)

Just checked the updated timeline and no longer find us on there... is there something I should know? If this helps the NOA1 was February 23 and the NOA2 was February 28, country is Cuba and we are Becki & Michael. Oh and I appreciate you hooking us up with these timelines, thanks!!!

Time line says Armenia? :) You also have your NOA2 recorded as 2.28

The NOA2 is 2/28, crazy but got it in the mail last week (so can't be a mistake, right?). As far as Armenia goes... I did not input that myself, but was done automatically when I entered all the other data... my guess is it is because Cuba is a whole different story. Am I missing something else? Thanks again!!!

Just print your digital photos on photo paper (some have even printed on regular and no problems). What I did was print 4 on full photo page and labeled the back as directed with date, names of all in the picture and place taken. Hope that helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIt is true!!!

:luv: So I posted last week questioning whether it was even possible that the on-line USCIS site said our I-129F was approved or if it was all a big mistake... Well, it was no mistake because I got the NOA2 in the mail today!!!     It was approved, not sure how but what do I care... this is amazing and thank you all for your support. I know this will not be the last time I ask for it, so thanks in advance. WOOOHOOO... NVC and Cuba here we come... let the waiting continue.

i got soooo excited when i read this. i thought, if it happened that fast for you, maybe the rest of us CSC filers will benefit from it too. but then i remembered, one sliver of the US goes to VSC, and the rest of the dog-gone country goes to CSC! geez, looks like the Lord is trying to remind me that patience is a virtue.

I was hoping the same thing because I can see how frustrating it is to watch the whole VSC bunch get their approvals so quickly and be waiting for months at the CSC. Just wish they would have balanced it out when Nebraska and Texas stopped processing I-129Fs. Wishing you all the best luck in the world. Patience is a virtue for sure, but soon enough you too will have your approval.

I am so happy for you. This VISA process can be so tidious and stressful but when we can celebrate over these times it is wonderful. Enjoy this time and rejoice in the quick approval.
This is some wonderful news to come back home to. I just came back from Cuba last night and I was hoping to hear other great news from our fellow Cuban fiances. I hope the posts will continue because they encourage us. Thanks for sharing.

Faithful

Faithful (and 2manypapers... and all you others with Cuban fiancé(e)s)... thanks so much for all the support you have been, as well as everyone on VJ. My fiancé and I have been thrilled since we found out. It seems like a fresh breath of air or a second wind in a long race... we are feeling energized to continue on with the process and are definitely rejoicing in the quick approval. It seems like the interview will be somewhere around 4 months from the NOA2 as that appears to be the case for other Cuban couples. It is nice to be able to have a rough idea as to when I will see my papí again. Great news about your trip and would love to hear about Cuba... but that can be in a PM. Thanks again and best of luck to you and all the rest of your Cubanitos out there... and all the other Vjers waiting to be with the one they love.

Congratulations! Then it is true too that you break the record of the fastest approval in CSC's history! That's awesome! You can now breathe, sleep and eat well without worrying that they made a mistake with your approval. I bet it was a torture the past few days. Happy for you! Good luck on your next step!

Did you slip a couple Ben Franklins in the packet? j/k CONGRATS!!!!

If only I had a couple lying around for the rest of the process. Thanks!

Congratulations... that is amazing!

I do remember when I was checking the timelines obsessively while waiting for our NOA2, that I noticed a few couples who had their consulate listed as Armenia, who were getting their petitions approved much much quicker than other people. I assumed they must have had their cases expedited for one reason or another... if the OP hasn't specifically requested an expedite, and yet the NOA2 still came this quick... does anyone know if there's any reason why cases going through Armenia would get a quicker NOA2 than others?!

I had never noticed this, but maybe you are on to something. Would the consulate really make a difference? Something to ponder, eh?

Congratulations! Yes, this is a FAST one! Where did you file it? I'm one of those poor Nebraska filers :( Haven't even gotten NOA1 yet even though I filed Feb 22 (arrived Feb 26)

I filed on the 17th with Nebraska as I live in Colorado. I got my NOA1 on the 23rd and then the NOA2 on the 28th. Not sure what happened, but cannot complain with such a quick approval. And I know it was forwarded to California because that is where the notices came from. Good luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTHEY put the wrong address

I just recieved my NOA2 in the mail. They wrote XXXX JAMES ST. I live on a different street starting with J . I am sure I did not write anything incorrect on my end on the i129f. I will call customer service.

Also, it says the NOA2 is valid until March 3-July 6, 2007.

What does that mean?

Just go ahead and call customer services to get that fixed like you are planning on. You have until that date to get the actual K-1 visa. If it is getting close to that date you need to ask for some sort of extension... oh and this would be if there are taking longer than normal. At least that is what I understand. Good luck to you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan my husband enter the US as a Student then AOS to Spousal Visa? We are already Married

Hello,

I am USC my husband is UK citizen. We have been married for 2 years. He is wanting to start a course in the US in January. We are looking at filling DCF, but London has a huge backlog and apparently the processing will take 5 months. Obviously, this would cause him to miss his course.

The best alternative that we can think of is for him to enter on a student visa, then file for adjustment of status and apply for Spousal Visa.

Has anyone done this? Will it cause any problems in the long-term for his permanent status? The goal is to remain in the US after he finishes studying.

Thanks so much!

Yes, he can enter the US with either a student visa or under the Visa Waiver Program and then change his status by filing for AOS. BUT, keep in mind that planning to do this before he enters the US is considered fraud because his intentions are not to come and just visit or study but to remain in the US permanently. If Immigration sees it this way, they will consider it fraud and your case will be denied.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresafter I-130

Hello. I know this info is elsewhere but some clarifications. I'm in the U.S., my husband of 6 years is in Russia. I've just received the approval for the I-130 and they're transferring the paperwork to Moscow (we had to leave London rather suddenly after 6 years). I'm just trying to get a ballpark idea of the timeline. We've received no further instructions, but should go ahead and do my I-864 and his police certificate and medicals, right? How long can I expect it all to take? Is the interview scheduled only after the embassy receives the police certificates or does he have to bring them to the interview? Do we, or rather he, need to bring proof of our relationship? We've been together so long I forgot about having to need this one day, and I don't even have copies of our various leases over the years on me, though I can show PDFs of our bank account and obviously wedding pictures from 2004. There are various emails over the years to landlords as well. Not so much to one another, since we were in the same apartment. We do have copies of leases in storage. Most of the people posting on the forums seem to be fiances or already in the U.S.; our situation seems to be a bit unusual. I'd always thought the green card app would have us going for an interview together, but now we've had to separate and he'll need to bring paper proof, right? Thank you!

So did you send the I-130 to the USCIS for an IR1 visa? Or did you file it at the embassy for DCF? I'm just a bit confused where you said that you received the approval for the I-130 and they're transferring the paperwork to Moscow. If they I-130 was just approved but the USCIS, it will need to go to the National Visa Center (NVC) for further processing. There you will get a case number and you will have to send payment for AOS and the visa itself, as well as all other documents such as the I-864 and DS-230 forms.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow soon after wedding did you file I-130?
Same here. I filed almost 2 weeks after we got married and only because we had to wait for our marriage certificate and then I was flying back to the US from Colombia. Otherwise, I would've done it sooner.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresprocess time

hello everybody :)
i m new in this forum, i just wanted to share my case with u and have some answers in back
i got married to an us citizen on november 2009, we sent I-130 and I-129f on march both of them was approved the k-3 was closed and now my I-130 is at nvc for process they send me ds-3032 and i sent it back i chosed my husband like agent, the AOS was paid and we received on october 12 - 2010 an email from nvc that they had our ds3032 and until now no news. on the online payment aos status paid but there are IV fee bill not paid what have i do? wait for instructions from nvc? or send th aos packet and print ds230 and send it too? and how much time left to get the interview sheduled?
someone to help me
i realy miss my husband and i don t know when we can be togather
thanks for answring me

You can follow the NVC process by reading the EZGuideSpouse shortcuts.

You can't send the DS-230 if the IV fee bill is not paid. So pay that online first and then print out the DS-230 and send it to the NVC with all the necessary documents. If you already paid the AOS fee bill then you can send the I-864 and documents to the NVC. If not, then you need to pay it first.
