K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLost paper or did we mess up on filing???
I'm lost. Did the lady you spoke with at the very beginning not give you a receipt #??? The one that is on the NOA1? If she said everything was fine but needed more evidence, she had to have your receipt # in the first place. Secondly, you shouldn't have sent in any more evidence without having received an RFE.

Do you have your receipt #?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslost paperwork or slow people?
Here's what your fiance needs to do. First of all, she needs to call USCIS customer service and ask for a copy of the NOA1. Since you file in TSC, it is now at CSC and they haven't sent NOA1s to a lot us lately. If they DID actually receive your petition, then they'll have everything in their system. They'll ask for her name, SSN, date of birth, your name, date of birth and country you reside in to make sure they're talking to the correct person. If the case is in their system, they'll give her a receipt # which should start with 3 letters such as WAC, as an example.

Once you get your receipt # you can go to the USCIS web site, register as a customer, plug in your receipt # and see where your petition is at. If USCIS received it, it should be at the CSC and it's taking about 2-4 months to process, you've already waited 3, so you've got about 1 or 2 to go.

But again, the first step is for your fiance to call customer service and ask for a receipt # which is what they send on the NOA1. I'm surprised she hasn't called to find out what it is yet. I only waited 30 days to call and they gave me the correct # over the phone, then asked them to mail it to me and there were no issues with that.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCrying!
I'm like most people here, haven't cried (yet) but get incredibly frustrated when I see that other people who sent their paperwork are getting NOA1s and NOA2s left and right. It's a bittersweet type of feeling because I'm happy for them since we're all rooting for each other but then I think "what about me??"

The one thing I've felt lately is guilt. For some reason I feel responsible for the whole thing since I was the one who filled out most of the paperwork, sent it in and am in charge of checking what is going on with it. Not receiving even my first NOA1 makes me feel like I'm failing, especially when my husband asks "did you get it yet?" :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow will I be able to start tracking my case?
If you don't get your NOA1 (like me) and can't get a hold of your cancelled check, you can still call USCIS customer service 30 days after you sent it to get your receipt #. I also got the # from the back of my check but because it was so badly written down, I got 2 digits wrong and was looking at the wrong receipt online for over a month. Oops! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespassport style photo requirements
When we took our passport style photos in Colombia, they didn't know what we were talking about. Then I saw the list of types of photos they took at the shop and one of them said "US Embassy style photo". That's exactly what we needed and they took it right away. Maybe they have a different name for it in China.

Lines on the forms should never be left blank. If you were unemployed write "unemployed" and give the dates. If you had part time work, work study or anything you paid taxes on, write that in.
Any other lines that you don't have to fill in write "none"

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
I absolutely loved reading each post in this thread. I felt true happiness to hear that you two are finally together and a bit jealous at the same time.

As for everyone else, thank you so much for sharing your feelings. For a while I felt like I was the only one who at times has become numb and so obsessed with this visa process. It's become so mechanical with me counting the days, looking at timelines, seeing who received NOAs and who hasn't. Then I talk to my husband and that's pretty much all I want to talk about. We've had several arguments since the last time we were together and I feel so guilty. The thing is like you all said, you become numb because of the distance and because of the whole process that you start fighting for silly things. I really have to remind myself that it's just temporary and that we'll eventually get an approval, then he'll get his visa and then he'll be here with me.

Like Angilla said... so surreal.

Thanks again everybody!

And Angilla, I cannot say it enough: CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm glad you're laughing....I thought I might have actually PO someone!

Only thing regarding that that I'm actually worried about is that he tends to introduce me to people as "his wife." I have always looked askance at him when he does that, but now I REALLY have a reason to scold him for it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is the Fee
I think we should all help each other with all kinds of questions. But it's imperative that each one of us takes the time to read all documents in their entiry before filing anything with USCIS. That way, you can make sure that you have all your questions answered. If that doesn't help, THEN Visajourney is the place to go to get your answers from.

It's all good, we're here for ya'. ^_^

How about just giving her employer's name and changing/enhancing the title of the position. You don't really have to say "chatroom video hostess", you can mold it to say the same but in a different way. She has to be creative without having to lie.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska CS to California...How bad is it?

CSC is the slowest. VSC is the fastest. VSC people got their visas before i got my NOA2. Thats how slow CSC is.

It depends. K-1 visas are approved much faster than CSC. But K-3s and CR-1/IR-1s are approved faster at CSC than VSC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out G325A: Employment History question
If you were in college prior to 2003 then that means you were unemployed and you should mark it as such, then fill out the rest of the form with your current job which has lasted almost 4 years.

For the second issue, I wouldn't worry about it too much either. You can just cross it out, make the correction and initial it so they can see it was a change made by you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCASE Number on back of check?
My WAC# was on the front of the check, right above the date. I thought I had the correct # but 30 days later I called USCIS for my NOA1 (which I still don't have) and they gave me a different #, I was off by 1 digit.

If you're not sure and never receive your NOA1, I recommend you call them so you can have the correct info.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 and immediate family
Here is the thing. This couple eventually wants to be together and be married (since coming here on a K-1 requires to get married). So why go over whether she'll have a problem at the embassy or not. If the form requires to say who the relatives are, then write their names down and that's it, I really doubt the visa will be denied because of that. If they don't ask, don't tell. It's that simple.
Mononoke28FemaleColombia2007-04-04 19:05:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 and immediate family
What many don't understand is that many people, including myself and my family, don't have any choice. Almost 25 years ago my parents could not find jobs in Colombia, had two children (my siter and I) and had no money for food, clothing, or school. Visas were denied and to make a long story short, we had to come here illegaly. We had no choice. Later on we updated our status and are now US citizens.

But going back to the question. The relationship the petitioner has with his fiancee does not involve anyone else. Neither one of them is responsible for the illegal status of her relatives. I have relatives that I know live here and have not spoken to in years if not decades. What does that have to do with my husband coming here with a CR-1 visa? Absolutely nothing.
Mononoke28FemaleColombia2007-04-04 13:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 and immediate family
They might have gone about it the wrong way but what else can they do? Some people don't have other options.

ANYWAY, your girlfriend's possibility of getting a visa has nothing to do with her relatives. It's mainly a thing that pertains to the petitioner and beneficiary. If her relatives are her parents, then she can just firmly state that she has nothing to do with their situation, which is the truth.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestimeline..can be like this?
Lately I've seen cases from VSC where they filed the I-129F in early March and have already been approved. It's been pretty fast lately for K-1 visas. Now for CR-1/IR-1 type of visas, they've been taking their sweet old time with those.

Now here is the thing, their applications have been approved within weeks. The process between NVC and the embassy is another story, depending on where you're from.
Mononoke28FemaleColombia2007-03-15 14:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTimeline question
What I've noticed from looking at people's timelines who filed at CSC (and I've seen a whole bunch), it's taking an average of 90 days from the day you send out your petition to your corresponding service center to the day it is approved. That is if you don't get any RFE's. So if you sent in your I-129F last week, it could probably be approved in early July. Again, this is just an average guess and many things can happen.

Oh, BTW... :time:

Thanks!

US citizens can only petition relatives such as spouse, parents and/or children. Your partner doesn't qualify as any of these for your mom to apply for him.
